We're live on the ground in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the RNC kicks off. We'll bring you day one's biggest highlights, and we'll play a little dueling interview session. We'll be catching up with James Blair of the Trump campaign for the first time. We'll be circling back with South Carolina Congressman Ralph Norman. We'll also be catching up with Marco Vannio from Republicans for Renewing America. And talk all things economy with Mark Stern from the Heritage Foundation. There are rules. Hey, hey, hey, hey, junior, America! It's like for the best! So stand by! All right, everybody. Welcome to the Snake for Breakfast podcast. I'm Ron Noah's here with me. Yo. If you're a first-time listener, welcome to the show. If you're a long-time listener, welcome back to America's Fastest Growing. And quickly becoming favorite political podcast. Big two Tuesday editions of the show today. And we're going to be live and on location to the best of our ability at the Republican National Convention. All of our guests, whether we have five or six in here today, will be reporting from Milwaukee in addition. Obviously, this is one of the biggest news weekends we've had in a while. Noah, it looks like we dodged a bullet. Jeez. That's just the most wild shit I've ever heard in my entire life. I'm still kind of processing it, even though Donald Trump has moved on. Anybody by the time you listen to our Tuesday editions of the show know he made a decision on his vice presidential pick and showed up in person at the Republican National Convention on night one yesterday, where he sat alongside friends and family, all his sons and daughters, their wives and husbands were with them, Byron Donald, Speaker Johnson, Corey Mills, Tucker Carlson, all in attendance, and with the president as well, great optics, signs of strength, signs of the nation standing in solidarity with the former president, and now the Republican nominee looking to take back the White House later this year. It wasn't true that he was golfing the day after. It was true. No, listen, the video that was removed online, I guess, was not chronologically that day, but yes, he did golf before he got on a plane and flew to Milwaukee the day after this happened. Good for him. Yeah, you know, and I saw a lot of people, actually a couple of people DM'd me because I posted the video online and they're like, "Jack, I saw what took you down and said it wasn't that day." I say, so I just waited for the evening, CBS, ABC, CNN, and Fox News all reported that Donald Trump played golf before he got on a plane, just not the same video, which is fine. I mean, every single video out there from the 150 cent used at his concert with his body and Donald Trump's head playing many men, all the way down to a lot of the memes I saw the anime video of Donald Trump going through the assassination attempt, which I thought was pretty nice as well, the video, not the assassination attempt, obviously. You know, that's been circulating online as well. Who cares what the timeline is? We're trying to show that this man is a bull and that he's ready to lead this country into hell and back. And I mean, when you talk about someone that literally has stared down the barrel of the deep state and walked away 99.9% unscathed, you really have to take into consideration on your belief system on whether or not you considered that God had his hands on that situation. No, I sent you the chart circulated a lot online. People have seen it. It's the picture of two heads, two brains, two angles of the shooter. Oh, yeah. You're talking about a centimeter, a millimeter, and a fraction of a second. I mean, you're not a ballistics expert, but we all enjoy shooting here on Steak for Breakfast. How close was this to be in a national tragedy instead of a national incident of concern like it was? Well, I mean, it would have depended on the angle. So if the angle would have been at the worst possible position, it would have taken out the entire back of his head. Yeah, that's what it looks like. And when you look at how in real time with when he reacted to it, the sound of the shot and the angle that it clipped his ear, I mean, he was moving his head back and forth because the jumbotron had loaded earlier than the teleprompter had led into. So he was kind of like small talking as it was, you know, he was waiting to catch up to it, talking about how much of a disgrace. I guess the only thing illegal aliens have done good for this country was the ability to be in such a bad situation that Donald Trump had to point it out on a jumbotron and looked at it in the right moment of time that he was able to miss an assassination attempt in a bullet, which grace passes head. Yeah, I watched the compilation video of everything put together on the correct timeline with they synced it up with his voice. And when I watched it for the first time, like it is hard to watch. Like when you when you hear that poor kid yell that they shot my dad and then seeing them carry off just a lifeless body with like a friggin towel over his head, it's just like it kind of gave me the chills a little bit just to see it all happen. Like when you see it from start to finish with everything that was happening and then I'm reading about the timeline of events that weren't necessarily captured on video, although I'm sure every day video is going to be popping out or different angles. There were tens of thousands of cell phones there recording. But I mean the other potential for maybe why it didn't actually hit the mark is because he was the shooter was rushed. It sounds like, and I obviously have no way of knowing I'm just going by what I've read is that there was some law enforcement officer that was alerted that the guy was up there and supposedly climbed up the ladder. And then when he climbed up the ladder, the guy pointed the rifle at him and he went back down and then the guy quickly shot after that. I don't know if this is true, this is just what one of the last things I read was. You know what they're reporting in the mainstream, that that's exactly what happened. The Secret Service has offered no insight into their investigation. You know it's complete bullshit as always. They can't unlock the phone, but they have determined beyond the shadow of a doubt that this gunman acted alone. I thought they'd get into the phone finally, I saw something last night about it. Yeah, but I'm just talking about building up the timeline through the weekend. Oh right. And you know where they are with that today. Then there's videos online, you know this kid was in a black rock video like 10 years ago when he was a high school student. He didn't have anything to do with the kid, had more to do with the employees of the school who were, you know employees of black rock. But the fact of the matter is the whole thing is just, it's a terrible situation, it's a breakdown in security. I mean there are rumors, I'm sure some of our guests, especially those who work within the House of Representatives that are going to be joining the show today. And Dr. Roger Marshall from the US Senate are going to be, you know, giving us a little bit of insight on where they're at with the investigative process into the Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security. Imagine that, another critical failure of this magnitude under the watch of already impeached DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. And when you see the DEI hire, that is the person running the Secret Service right now. I can almost probably guarantee this is a person that has never worn the uniform, has never been through the training and was appointed to that position as a political hire. So without doing any research, that's my assumption. And yeah, and then not to, you know, cast dispersions on any of the Secret Service staff that was there. But it didn't seem like they had necessarily all of their best and brightest on scene at the moment. The one girl trying to put her gun away, almost blew her hand off, and then she like, "Lazored everybody?" And then it looked like she couldn't get it in the holster, and then changed hands, put it in her left hand, or what side was that? Maybe she was left handed, put it in her right hand, whatever direction it was. But it's just, there's so many things that seem fucked up about this situation. Like obviously I have no idea what the standard operating procedures for the Secret Service is during a set of that magnitude. And I know that they've been shitting on Trump and trying to take away a Secret Service detail. And then that DEI hire that runs the Secret Service is probably giving, you know, if you weren't pro-Trump, then this was probably a punishment for you for fucking up, that you had to come and do this. Well, another thing too, I'm hearing reports, and again, unconfirmed because the investigative process is still ongoing. But there was a lot of people who were tasked to local Secret Service field offices at the state of Pennsylvania instead of part of the national team who usually travels with the high value targets, including President Trump. And that is because Dr. Jill Biden and one other Democrat-led event was happening in Pennsylvania and some of the more standard operating agents were directed to those on Saturday. Well, I mean, that does make sense given that he is the sitting president. Yeah, I mean, well, no, this was not a-- For waiting, it was just for Jill? Jill Biden, who essentially gets the same Secret Service detail that the president does, but yeah, it's just an embarrassment. Hey, have you seen the videos going around of like the girls in a circle, and they say like, you know, like spray tan hands in a bob, spray tan hands, and it's like the HR department right before they fire all the employees right before they-- I think so? Yeah, so the best caption I saw out of all the ones I saw this weekend of that Secret Service agent that couldn't get her gun into her waistband was Itty Bitty Glock and a Fupa. I was like, okay, this made me laugh out loud. I had to repost it. Listen to some of the ass and I shit that's coming from people about this, though, like, I actually, you know, we're going to delve into my inbox and my DMs. Oh, God, I don't even, don't even. Actually, somebody who's like a legitimate friend of mine, I can only assume didn't mean to send this to me. He was probably sending it to all his other shitlib buddies and accidentally added me on the queue there. And it was a post and it's like Republicans outraged over Trump getting teleprompter glass in his ear. False. Yep. But, Rick, it's when it comes to school kids being blown up in their classrooms, tells you everything. Oh, please. Someone explained to me how the shooter was able to set up on a rooftop 150 yards away with a direct, unobstructed view to his apparent target. Yes, I agree. Or perhaps it was an impossible shot because of the teleprompter, because obviously Donald Trump has those bulletproof teleprompters, which weren't hit at all. They apparently eliminated the shooter seconds after he fired his rounds, so that was quick. As mentioned, I'm not one to buy into conspiracy theories. I'll tell you what that sounds like. Well, you want to talk about the mainstream media outlets that weren't buying into conspiracy theories, either the Washington Post. And these were the real-time updates on the web pages I got a little montage here. Trump escorted away after loud noises of Pennsylvania rally. ABC News. ABC News. Donald Trump escorted off stage by Secret Service during rally after loud noises ring out in crowd. NBC News. Secret Service rushes Trump off stage after popping noises heard at Pennsylvania rally. News Week. MAGA responds without rage after Donald Trump injured at Pennsylvania rally. Trump removed from stage by Secret Service after loud noises, startles, former President crowd, and then CNN. Secret Service rushes Trump off stage after he falls at a rally. Yeah. I mean, at least News Week was the closest. Yeah, I guess. There was a thing I was reading from News Week about the weapon that was involved, and obviously they're going to do that whole thing. But on Sunday, it was revealed that the firearm recovered at the scene of the shooting was legally purchased by Crook's father after an urgent trace was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and Explosives. Yeah. The scene was recorded citing multiple law enforcement sources. Then it goes on to say after saying it was a legally purchased gun. However, according to the Associated Press, law enforcement officials said federal agents are still working to understand when and how Crook's, who has no military affiliation, obtained the gun. It was a standard semi-automatic rifle that you could buy anywhere. Which in USA Today says Joseph Price Special Agent in charge of the ATF in Pittsburgh said the weapon used by the shooter was a rifle, and then quote unquote, "It was nothing special." He said in his interview in the parking lot of the Butler Township Municipal Building. Fantastic. Ridiculous. The fucking leaps and bounds that people are going with this shit. I mean, the news people are just trying to put shit out as fast as possible for click. It's just gross. Yeah. Yeah. It's wild. And we're going to jump into it right now and take it through the day and kind of the weekend leading up to now, which is to the heart of the RNC. Before we jump into it, though, absolutely stacked lineup today. I already mentioned Dr. Roger Marshall, the Republican senator from Kansas, will be joining us. We'll catch up with South Carolina Congressman Ralph Norman. Mark Evonio from Republicans for Renewing America will be circling back and talking about Donald Trump's national policy platform. It's going to be a great segment there. Richard Stern from the Heritage Foundation, who's dialed into all things economy related, plus some commentary on how the weekend shook out for him and them over at the Heritage Foundation. And then James Blair, who's the national policy director for Donald J. Trump for President 2024. Someone from the actual campaign is going to be joining us from the RNC as well. Any other guests show up? Who knows? I've reached out to a couple different people. If they've got the time over the course of the next several hours, we're definitely going to throw them in. That's a solid lineup. I'm actually kind of bummed that I'm going to have to take off after this new segment. We're going to get started here. We're going to take you back through the day. Obviously, I'm going to play a little bit of audio leading up through and to when it happened. I mean, the rally itself lasted essentially 13 minutes from when Donald Trump walked out to God bless the USA until when he was ushered off into an SUV and taken to the hospital. But going back through the moment when it actually happened, let's check it out. There's something that said, take a look at what happened. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. You're ready, on you. Are we good? Are we good to move? We're clear. We're clear. Come on. Let me get my shoes on. Let me get my shoes on. Let me get my shoes on. This is where the mic was kicked off, but he is acknowledging with a fist pump or two to the audience and saying fight. I mean, this literally just happened. Everybody essentially in the immediate area knows what happened. They see President Trump bloody. They heard the shots and the spontaneous USA chant breaks out. I can't stress enough for our listenership how dialed into this man. Our following is. And really what the left wanted about this and they're so up in arms trying to say that it was fake is because of his reaction. His demeanor throughout the whole thing, he just took a bullet in the ear and you're worried about your shoes. But really, he just doesn't want to look. Shoes and speech, that's what he wanted. He didn't want to leave his speech. He wanted to put his shoes back on. He got both. You can hear the audience right now. [cheering] And it sounds like it turns pretty negative. And the reason it does is because Donald Trump exits stage left and is ushered into what they call the bus. That's the armored SUV. And as they're slowly moving out of there, yeah, it's a version of the beast. And as they're slowly getting through and to where they're able to drive onto the main drag, he walked right past media row, which was, you know, obviously to the left of where he was looking out onto the audience. And you can hear everybody. I'm watching the video right now. There's people spitting, giving the finger, throwing garbage and cursing at the national press that's up on the riser saying like, this is your fucking fault. Oh, yeah, you know, it's just a shame how we got to this point. And listen, I hate to say it. Almost six years of doing this show now, it's all kind of rhetoric that's out the window. Well, when they're calling Donald Trump an existential threat, like, that means a threat to your existence. Like, I mean, this rhetoric has been pounded. That kid's, what, 20 years old? Like, how long has he had this shit just fed to him? And he's already kind of an outcast in an outsider anyway. I don't know which out that put it out there recently, whether it was the Atlantic or the New Yorker. And they did like a sketch artist rendition, like, gray tones of Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler back to back. No, I saw somebody post that they're like, oh, this picture looks so similar because they both have their fucking arm up. It's like, come on. Why? Fucking people are mouth breathing, smooth, brained idiots. From the back of the SUV and on route to the hospital, Donald Trump took quickly to his true social account. Believe it or not. I want to thank the United States Secret Service and all of law enforcement for the rapid response on the shooting today that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. More importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person of the rally who was killed and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country. Nothing is known this time about the shooter who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong when I heard the whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through my skin. Much bleeding took place, so then I realized what was happening. God bless America, and that was his initial statement, which came literally within like 40 minutes of this happening. So, it's just a wild way to, you know... It's crazy. And the people that are saying it's a fucking false flag or fake or whatever, it's like it? Didn't somebody else get in trouble for saying some shit like that where people died? You know what, like a billion dollars? The daughter of the person who did wind up losing their life took to social media and has, you know, found a whole bunch of those posts, especially ones from news outlets, where I was saying like, "Oh, this is just what Donald Trump wanted, and this is the theatrics that he had hoped for." And she had, quote, tweeted those and wrote her along, you know. You could say whatever you want about this being theatrical, but my father lost his life. And listen, some of the videos that actually show what happened to her, grew some. It's just what a tragedy. And we're going to hear about that in just a little second. Like Donald Trump alluded to, there wasn't much known about the shooter and his intentions. Obviously, it was to murder Donald Trump. You don't have to talk about his politics. You don't have to talk about how he ideologically saw the world. The fact that he was a registered Republican in a state like Pennsylvania means nothing. Well, it just means that he probably switched sides to vote on the primary to fuck up the Republicans. Correct. Which is the case in a lot of these purple swing battleground states, whatever you want to call them, or they have flexible rules like that. But that means absolutely nothing. His party affiliation did not say when it was last updated either. So listen, again. He donated to some left wing progressive outlet as well, too. I think it was only $15. But he also donated to Joe Biden directly on the day of his inauguration in 2021. Oh, how much was it that time? I believe it was also a small dollar donation as well. But here's the deal. The motivation for this, you don't have to be a fucking ballistics expert. You don't have to be someone who understands the news. You don't have to be someone that said, "Oh, yeah, we've been saying this for years." The kid's motivation was to kill Donald Trump. I mean, there was nothing else there outside of Donald Trump that was essentially a target to this kid. And he failed in his mission, whether it be divine intervention or something that prevented him from getting the shot off correctly, whether it was to the extent of his training, regardless. That was the fact that he even got that far as wild. Yeah. Well, no, it's true. And then when you talk about the lack of Secret Service, plus the fact that the outer most perimeter was turned over and shared between up to four state and local agencies. The communication was just not there. This was a breakdown at some level in leadership. I'm assuming it has to do with a lot to do with the DEI-ness of everything. I mean, listen, you saw Donald Trump come out at the RNC tonight. It was the DEI-less escort to the stage. Every single man around him was, I mean, I think Uncle Eddie in Christmas vacation was described in the same way. They were huge, bulking, hulking, men wearing suits. And it was like literally Donald Trump looked like he came out. And he looked small amongst the security that was ushering him to his seat. You have a bandage on his ears, though? He did. And every dirt bag from Jack Black to Mark Hamill put on line, "Oh, yeah, Donald Trump had to wear his fake ear gauze pack over his ear." I mean, these people are just fucking lunatics. Well, the fucking Jack Black and whatever the other guy's name is, they were attributing the comment to Jack Black, but it was actually the other dude. I forgot what his name is. Kyle Gasps. Yeah, Kyle, he make a wish. Yep. I wish he hadn't have missed or whatever it was he said. It's like, "Wow, you're a piece of shit." Yeah, you see a lot of that online. Some of the people, and again, remember, Twitter isn't real life, so these people that are like, "Oh, I can't believe these people on Twitter." Like, I see people like-- Not people just go on there and just shit posts. That's fucking retard. I felt bad for five seconds, and then I forgot about, like, threats to democracy in January 6 and trying to kill Mike Pence and, like, fuck this guy. It's just like, these people were pathetic. Losers, and again, Twitter isn't real life. Take off your shoes, touch some grass, and let's move on. There was some brief reporting in the news. On Saturday evening, before any of the presser started regarding the shooter who's now been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, resident of outside the Pittsburgh area. Check it out. I mean, he would sit alone at lunch. I mean, he was just a outcast, and you know how kids are nowadays, so they're going to see someone like that, and they're going to target him because they think it's funny or whatever, so it's the best way I can describe it. And it's honestly kind of sad. Like, I don't want to say this is what provoked it, but you never know. Yeah, you said it was a loaner? Yeah. Um, I want to say he was a loaner more because he was just, he was quiet, but like, he was just bullied, like, he was bullied so much, so much. Listen to high school. Yeah. What did they still remember at all that they said to him or called him? No, um, he was just made fun of, I guess, for the way he dressed or his appearance. So, I mean, you could take that for what it is. You know, there's been reports that had come out in just the last several hours here on this big Tuesday edition of State Records that said he had no problems with his employment. He had held a job for several years. He had reported that he went to work, did his job and went home pretty much without incident. So, and then there's also videos that have, you know, been around of him yelling and screaming out in the middle of the street over the years at protests and rallies for everything from Black Lives Matter to free Palestine. So we don't necessarily know all the facts yet as they come together. Obviously, we'll put together a better picture, but this is someone who was deranged and someone who had lost their way and essentially lost their life because they fucked around and found out with, you know, Donald Trump. So that's kind of the way I'm looking at it right now. And, you know, when you talk about some of the rhetoric that's come out from the left, I mean, just a few weeks ago, Joe Biden's official Twitter account. Donald Trump is a genuine threat to this nation. He's a threat to our freedom. He's a threat to our democracy. He's literally a threat to everything America stands for. More recently, and this was just 10 days ago, I have one job and that's to beat Donald Trump. I'm absolutely certain I'm the best person to be able to do that. So we're done talking about the debate. It's time to put Donald Trump in a bullseye. That post has been deleted from Joe Biden's Twitter account. Yeah, pretty interesting to say the least. The security breakdown is something that a lot of people have been armchair quarterbacking. There was an interview with the BBC that went viral shortly thereafter, and that's like Noah said at the top of the show as they tried to piece apart this timeline and put everything together. There was anywhere between 26 and 30 minutes where law enforcement was originally notified of what was going on on the roof. Someone was up there. Someone may have had a firearm. Police were dispatched. Police did not do a good enough job of, you know, identifying how much of a threat it was, but let's check this out. I can't wait for him to release the radio comms. Yeah. Listen to the rally, right? We couldn't see him, but we could hear him. So we walked up and probably five to seven minutes of Trump speaking. I'm estimating here. I have no idea, you know, but we noticed the guy crawling arm, you know, bear crawling up the roof of the building beside us 50, 50 feet away from us. So we're standing there, you know, we're pointing. We're pointing at the guy, crawling up the roof. And he had a gun, right? He had a rifle. We could clearly see him with a rifle. Absolutely. We're pointing at him. The police are down there running around on the ground. We're like, hey, man, there's a guy on the roof with a rifle. And the police were like, huh, what? You know, like they didn't know what was going on. You know, we're like, hey, right here on the roof, we can see him from right here. We see him. You know, he's crawling. And next thing you know, I'm thinking to myself, I'm like, why is Trump still speaking? Why have they not pulled him off the stage? I'm standing there pointing at him for, you know, two, three minutes. Secret service is looking at us from the top of the barn. I'm pointing at that roof. Just standing there like this. And next thing you know, five shots running out. So you're certain that the shots came from that guy on the roof? 100%. 100. Pretty wild, you know. And where does the blame lie? Depending on how many agencies were involved, depending on how great the comms were, whether or not electronically, they were all synced up on the same channels. I don't know if state and local law enforcement, if they're coordinating on an event as big as hosting a former president, someone who's just days away from accepting the Republican national nomination for the party. If they're all in the same channels, if they're all in the same electronics as federal law enforcement and Donald Trump's private security detail, which travels with him, I've experienced them firsthand. I've got to put an arm bar in one of those guys out in Arizona a couple of years ago. I forgot about that. Yeah. Noah went to jump down the risers and go meet Christina Bob on the floor of one of Donald Trump's rallies in Arizona when he was stumping during the 2022 midterm cycle. And Cash Mattel, who was on the other side of the arena, text me, and he's like, "Hey, Dan Scavino wants to say hi to you." So Dan Scavino gets up and he's looking around and he's almost on the floor and the tunnels right there on the railing. But in between me and the railing, there's this huge hulking man. And I wave to Dan Scavino and he waves to me and then my brain didn't put two and two together. I should probably present myself as like, "Hey, Dan Scavino just waved to me. I'm going to look over the railing and say hi to him." As I go to the railing and go to put my arm over it, this guy takes my arm and proceeds to twist it in a way I've never had it twisted before in my life. And Dan Scavino had to run over and say, "No, no, he's with me. He's with me." But it was, yeah, it was, yeah, they're on it to say the least. So, you know, there was just a lot of things that didn't happen that needed to and need to moving forward. It's so funny that Donald Trump has been putting out through his social media accounts, the pressure on Democrats, especially Joe Biden, to force the Secret Service to protect even Kanye Jr. who's a completely irrelevant candidate in this election cycle. Well, guess what? After the events of this weekend, the Department of Homeland Security and Alejandro Mayorkas have announced that RFK Jr. will have Secret Service detail for the remainder of the cycle. They just announced that? He did a presser today. I've got highlights for it later in the show and we'll place the next- I guess they decided those were going to be bad optics if RFK got JFK. Yeah, especially with the way Donald Trump was framing it, his family has such a tragic history regarding incidents like that similar, which happened to mine last weekend. I don't understand why the Biden administration has not assigned him Secret Service detail yet. So, when you keep framing it like that, and then at the same time trying to say that the guy is the threat to democracy and Hitler, they just don't match up in the same thread. So, you know, it's one of those things where we'll continue to track the way this is moving right now, but moving on Saturday. And as Donald Trump was receiving some treatment, some of the mainstream press caught up with other witnesses who said and corroborated the story of those in the BBC interview, which went viral, and that's a complete security and communications breakdown on site. Let's check it out. Just take me back. What were you doing before the shooting happened? And then what did you see in here? I was just hanging, standing there like everybody else, waiting for Trump. And as Trump started, I noticed two officers that were looking for something or somebody. So, I was looking around myself and seeing a guy on top of one of the buildings go in between one building to the next and went and told the officer that he was up there. And when I went back to my spot, I heard that people could still see the person from where they were standing. So, I checked that out and I went and went back to tell the officer that if he came over he could see them. And when I turned my back, it's when the shot started and then it took me a second or two to figure out exactly what it was, and then it was just getting out of there and helping some other person out with her child and we got out and that was the end of that. I went left and that was all pretty crazy. You know, these first-hand accounts will happen and then the next thing you move to is the pressers. An official statement from the Biden White House before he spoke later that evening. And this comes from the office of Joe Biden. I've been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump's rally in Pennsylvania today. I'm grateful to hear that he is safe in doing well. I'm praying for him and his family and for all those who are at the rally. As we await further information, Joe and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as a nation and both condemn it. So, yeah. I mean, it's more than two sentences, so Joe Biden didn't write it, obviously. There is the case for the father, the husband, the fireman, the man who shielded his family at the rally who lost his life. You just can't think in the blink of an eye. I had something like a Donald Trump event next thing you know. Your father, your husband is laying lifeless on top of you because he risked his life to save yours. But that was the case of what happened at the Trump rally. And there was a statement which came out. Josh Shapiro, the governor of Pennsylvania, he gave kind of a presser to tie everything together as the events unfolded into the evening. Let's check it out. We lost a fellow Pennsylvania last night. Corey Comperator. I just spoke to Corey's wife and Corey's two daughters. Corey was a girl dead. Corey was a firefighter. Corey went to church every Sunday. Corey loved his community. And most especially Corey loved his family. Corey was an avid supporter of the former president and was so excited to be there last night with him in the community. I asked Corey's wife if it would be okay for me to share that we spoke. She said yes. She also asked that I share with all of you that Corey died a hero. The Corey dove on his family to protect them last night at this rally. Corey was the very best of us. May his memory be a blessing. Can't say enough about it. In the man died a hero and anyone that wants to take it into any kind of context, you know, they need their head examined. It's just one of those things in the moment you don't react. It's instinct. And, you know, I'm sure when it processed in his mind what exactly was going on, whether it was Donald Trump dropping the Secret Service jumping on him or, you know, people shooting, people screaming, there's a gun, there's a gun. His instinct was to cover his family. And that was the last act that he did as a father, as a husband, you know, as a firefighter, et cetera. And the give send goes that the one that Donald Trump authorized, it's well north of $4 million right now. Just today I saw that Elon Musk made two different $50,000 donations to the give send goes. And you can't say much to how awesome Lee America first circles the wagons when, you know, people were hurting and their families in need. So that is definitely a family that's hurting today. And, you know, with the loss that they've incurred over the weekend, you know, you hope that at least the generous donations that people are providing for them are going to help them get through. And it doesn't make up for it, it doesn't replace, but, you know, get through these difficult times in the most comfortable manner possible. Ronnie Jackson, former White House physician, current Congressman from Texas, his nephew was at the rally and on the risers. And it was actually injured in the moments during the shooting. I saw him jump on with Boomer Sweats, Sean Hannity, Sunday night to kind of give a report on it. Let's hear it. Yes, Sean. So my nephew was at the event tonight and they were in their friends and family pin. And they heard the shots and everybody dropped to the ground. And I don't know if you guys have the picture or not, but he was grazed in the neck, a bullet crossed his neck, cut his neck and he was bleeding. Congressman, this is your nephew. Yeah. Yeah. This is my nephew. They were there. I'd set them up. They went to the rally. They were in the friends and family pin, which was just to the president's right, down a little bit lower on the left on the screen, but to the president's right in the line of fire. And they heard shots coming in. Apparently, there was someone also, there were four or five rows behind them. There was critically injured whenever he was shot. You know, they realized that a bullet had graced his neck. My sister-in-law had encouraged him to go to the first aid tent, to the triage tent. They went to the triage tent and when they got to the triage tent, while they were there, there was another member of the crowd. Unfortunately, there was in the triage tent that was on a gurney in the tent that had a devastating wound and had a critical wound to the head. And that's the aforementioned fireman, you know, which we just played. That speaking piece from Josh Shapiro, he was describing. Yeah, it was wild. I mean, you heard it. It wasn't like one or two shots. There were several. And then after the shots had been fired, you know, I believe there were like two bursts of multiple rounds going off and then there was a brief low and then one round, which was the secret service. Returning fire and neutralizing the target. They only pegged him with one round. That's what I'm hearing. Yeah, because I wasn't sure if the pause and then the other kind of staccato gunfire, which sounded a little bit different, was them firing multiple rounds. But I mean, who knows? We're going to have to wait and see if we get the full report. I'm sure that'll be polished decades away. Joe Biden spoke a couple of different times over the weekend. You know, one weirder than the next. The first one came, I believe he was still in Pennsylvania. Again, he traveled with his wife. She had an event, but he did not attend, which was weird enough all in itself. But I guess he was able to make it to one of the local police departments where they set up a presidential podium through a couple flags and a curtain behind them and sent them out. We're going to listen to two different times that Joe Biden spoke between Saturday night and today. Here's the first one. Let's check it out. Thoroughly briefed by all the agencies in the federal government as a situation based on what we know now. I have tried to get ahold of Donald. He's with his doctors. Apparently he's doing well. I plan on talking to him shortly. I hope when I get back to the telephone. Look, there's no place in America for this kind of violence. It's sick. It's sick. It's one of the reasons why we have to unite this country. We cannot allow for this to be happening. We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this. I want to thank the Secret Service and all the agencies, including the state agencies that have been engaged in making sure that we have more detail to come relative to other people, maybe injured in the audience. I don't have all that detail. We'll make that available to you. I may be able to come back a little later tonight, but we'll put out a statement if we don't. If I'm not able to get -- if it's not convenient for you all. But the bottom line is that the Trump rally is a rally that he should have been able to conduct it peacefully without any problem. But the idea, the idea that there's political violence or violence in America like this is just unheard of. It's just not appropriate. Everybody. Everybody must condemn it. Everybody. I'll keep you informed. And if I'm able to speak to Donald, I'll let you know that as well. So far, it appears he's doing well. Number one, number two, that there's thoroughly investigating what happened to anyone else in the audience. We have some reports, but not final reports. And every agency in the federal government -- and I'm going back to my phone to speak with the federal agencies that are being put together again to give me an updated briefing. And if anything happened, they learned him more in the last couple hours. So thank you very much. And I hope I get to speak to him tonight, and I'll get back to you if I do. Okay? President, do you think it was an assassination attempt? I don't know enough to -- I have an opinion, but I don't have any facts. So I want to make sure we have all the facts before I make some comments. Any more comments? Thank you. At that point, Joe Biden knew that Donald Trump had taken one to the head, and he still wouldn't go out as a human being and say, "Obviously, this looked like an assassination attempt." It's just weird to me. Yeah, how are you going to call it anything less? Yeah. Did you see Elon Musk himself started a super pack? Donated $45 million to it, fully endorsed Donald Trump in the moments after the assassination attempt happened, and will be donating $45 million every month between now and the election? Wow. Yeah. I didn't catch that part. I saw his post re-endorsed him, but I had no idea he said what's a pack called. I don't know. Elon Musk, super astronaut, travel to Mars, whatever. Make America Mars again? Yeah, it was kind of even just going through it. It's kind of rough. You start to relive through the moments, and there were some big highs today. No, you're not going to be with us for the rest of the show. You jumped in for the first segment today. Obviously, a big one. Forklift training calls, and you'll be doing it neck deep in forklift training. Listen, Donald Trump selected his vice presidential candidate. I think it's a great choice for America. You know, I don't really know a shit ton about JD Vance, but the fact that the media is already calling him an election denier vaccine non-believer, all the other stuff sounds like he's on our team. Yeah. Yeah. You wanted to know what? There were a lot of people who were fighting behind the scenes and building public narratives on who was good and who was not. When you think about a lot of the things that Donald Trump spoke to the media about today, and this was all privately, you know, Donald Trump hasn't done any interviews or anything like that formally since the incident happened, and we probably won't hear from him. I'm guessing until Thursday night when he addresses the nation as a whole at the RNC. But, you know, when you look at a lot of the stipulations, this isn't about selecting a successor. This isn't about selecting someone who's going to do this Saturday, the other thing. This is about who he thought was perfect for the job. You know, it was, it was- Well, even with his past, too, because, I mean, there's people that are accusing him of being a former never-trumper as well. And he was. But you wanted to know what? And you'll hear it a lot more in formal interviews. JD Vance has sat down with many of people and said, "I was one of those people who listened to the mainstream media and bought what they were dealing. And I was completely wrong. I saw with my own eyes what happened for the border, what happened to being safe in the street, how much the military and law enforcement loved him. You know, you name it, JD Vance checks many, many, many of the boxes. In addition, the blue wall, the rust belt, those places, well, we are going to need to win. He helps. He's the sitting senator from the state of Ohio. He is one of the most popular senators in the US Senate. And it's going to be really great to see that ticket. I mean, they've already refitted Trump Force One. They wrapped it today. Trump Vance 2024. Why? Well, hopefully we don't need that much help after this, because, I mean, at this point, you're either with them or against them. Yeah. Yeah. You know, and after some of the developments, we'll get through it all on the show. There are some great, you know, the national president of the Teamster spoke, Ambrose spoke tonight. You had a priest who was going to do the prayer over the convention, bust out a Donald Trump impersonation, which was awesome. And, you know, this is, we're at it right now for the absolute lows that we're talking about in this segment, and which happened on Saturday and throughout the rest of the weekend. I mean, guys, Donald Trump was golfing by nine o'clock on Sunday morning. So, you know, we're good, but for the sake of the show, we're taking you through it. Donald Trump was back at it, you know, before he even hit the links on Sunday morning, he put out an absolute smoker on his true social account. As we move forward in uniting our nation after the horrific events on Saturday, the dismissal of the lawless indictment in Florida should just be the first step followed by the quickly dismissal of all the other witch hunts. The January six hoax in Washington, D.C., the Manhattan D.A. zombie case, the New York A.G. scam, fake claims about a woman I never met decades old photo in a lineup with her husband that does not count, and the Georgia perfect phone call charges. The Democrat Justice Department coordinated all of these political attacks, which are an election interference conspiracy against Joe Biden's political opponent, me. Let's come together and end the webinization of all of our justice system and make America great again. So, he was on it. Katie Pavich was on Fox News and talking about the security breakdowns, which occurred throughout the course of the weekend, the fact that we have had and already had the opportunity to ingest quite a few, I guess, pressers from the Secret Service and adjacent agencies that are responsible for what happened in the communication and security breakdown over the weekend. And we're not really saying anything. You know, I know this is ongoing investigation, but let's be honest. We all know what the motive is. We have come to the conclusion Joe Biden has said it. Alejandro Mayorkas has said it. Some of the local law enforcement agencies had reported it that they assumed they have come to the conclusion that this person acted alone and on his own accord. So why don't we have more information about it? You're telling me that this guy is 20 years old and lives in a digital age and that every single piece of his social media has been completely scrubbed from existence, like nobody anywhere had anything on this guy ever? Just kind of weird to me. Yeah, well, I mean, the fact that he's a 20 year old kid and whether it was wiped or he just didn't have an internet presence, that's a little suspect. No, it is. And I think what we're going to wind up finding out is this kid was an absolute shit lib. And you know, he had probably, listen, the Bart Simpson, the FBI had him on his radar meme is getting ready to come out soon. They said it, you know? Have they said it yet? Not yet. But I'm sure we'll get there. Let's take it out. Well, first, I want to talk about the secret service, you know, they refuse to come out late last night to answer questions about this. I agree with Marie that the idea that they're not answering questions today, even just a little bit of detail about what went on is absolutely outrageous. And if you want answers about what happened, you can see the footage, there's plenty of information and details about their reactions, video evidence, how much time there was in between the secret service, taking off shots with the shooter, people in the crowd pointing at the suspect and the shooter on the roof. I mean, there's unlimited amounts of information that people can look at. And the fact that Secret Service isn't giving any detail is a real problem. I've been on, you know, threads and in touch with a number of people over the course of the past 24 hours, former military, former snipers, people in homeland security, work, national security, and everybody is outraged about how this entire situation was able to play out. The fact that there was a ladder on a building, how did it get there? The fact that this person was allowed to walk over with a firearm in a place that was supposed to be secured, a lack of communication clearly between local law enforcement and Secret Service in the time that this person was allowed to get shots off before they were eliminated as a threat. Congress has launched a number of investigations and people, I think people deserve a lot of answers. And most importantly, the former president of the United States deserves answers as he continues his campaign and has to rely on the Secret Service to keep him and his family safe. Yeah, a lot of questions, say the least. And hopefully, you know, a lot of the news cycle is going to be encompassed by what's going on in Milwaukee this week in the RNC. But it doesn't mean that the House of Representatives and I know everybody rolls their eyes at oversights and investigations, but James Comer, I mean, before we even struck the clock at midnight on Saturday into Sunday, had this out. He sent it to the director of the Secret Service. Today, President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt when a gunman fired a weapon at him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. At least one bystander is dead. The tremendous bravery of the individual of the United States Secret Service, who protected the president today, eliminated the gunman and possibly averted. Even more loss of life cannot be overrated. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability has initiated an investigation into today's assassination attempt on President Trump and requests your voluntary appearance at a full committee hearing on July 22, 2022. That's next Monday. To make arrangements for the hearing or ask any follow-up questions, please contact blah-blah-blah. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the U.S. House of Representatives and has a broad authority to investigate any manner at any time under House Rule 10. Thank you and to answer your cooperation, sincerely, James Comer, Chairman Committee on Oversight and Accountability. Now, I've heard that this date has been pushed a few days based off of something or another. But, you know, the fact that they're ahead of it and they want some accountability on what's going on, I mean, again, we're all going to be really disappointed when we see not only did Donald Trump have the B Team, so, you know, officers and agents from the Secret Service who normally don't staff events this big or protect, you know, assets as high as Donald Trump in addition to interwoven DEI politics. Well, whoever the DEI hired that actually set up the perimeter was very, very DEI. I mean, you don't have to be a freaking rocket scientist to see that, "Hey, that's a pretty good vantage point right there. We should probably put somebody up there." And I've heard some people speculate, "Well, how can you think, you know, a little triple digit heat in the middle of the hottest part of the day on a tin roof that someone's going to be able to lay up there? There's that and the other thing." The fact of the matter is those buildings all had windows, too, so even though the guy did take the optimal vantage point for him to take a couple shots of the president and, you know, injure several people in the audience and kill another. Yeah, they may not have been able to find him if he was poking through a window, too. Yeah, so, you know, it's going to be ongoing and it's probably going to take a little bit of time before we get complete clarity on what the situation was. Where did the latter come from? That's what I want to know. Did he bring the latter? I don't know. I saw videos of the latter, though, and it was out in pretty much plain sight in regards to, you know, the fence that ran along the side of the overflow crowd of the audience, and that's where a lot of people were, you know, trying to ping law enforcement and let them know that not only they saw this, they saw a police officer try to interject. Obviously, you know, things weren't working out and the communication breakdown was just immense. So moving forward, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. You'll never miss out on all the great works. We've got going on down here at Stake for Breakfast. In just a few moments, we're going to be jumping in with Kansas Republican Senator, Dr. Roger Marshall, live from the Republican National Convention. Newt Gingrich jumped on with Boomer Sweat, Sean Hannity, Saturday night as they dusted him off and wheeled him into the studio to kind of provide the start of 24-hour coverage after the assassination attempt on President Trump. Let's take it out. A historical perspective. We have had assassination and assassination attempts before. That's clearly what happened here tonight, and it looks like this shooter came within a millimeter or two of an assassination tonight, and it's shocking the core of a nation as well, that in an adjacent rooftop that this can happen, what's your overall view and your overall initial thoughts? Well, first of all, I'm glad that we had a little bit of time. I was very emotional. Earlier, I'm not sure I could have done television because I've known Trump for about 30 years, so I'm watching a personal friend get shot in front of me when he was a very intimate moment for millions of Americans, and it was a providential moment if he had turned to look at that big screen, and when he was turned, the bullet would have hit him here. When he turned back, it hit him here. That's how close he came to being killed, and I think we need to understand that, that this was providential, and he reacted appropriately, but I also will tell you, he has been vilified by Joe Biden and the Democrats and the left wing. That's the big point. More than any president since Abraham Lincoln, and this was a political act. It was a deliberate act, and as you know, because we've talked about it off air, I've said for four months that when all the legal baloney fails and when they begin to realize he is going to win, that violence is the next thing because they're that desperate. And we'll leave it at that, you know, Noah, we've seen it only very few times in the history of our country publicly. I mean, Ronald Reagan was the last one before him. It was JFK, obviously, Abraham Lincoln, and now President Trump. You know, once that card is punched, who knows where it starts and ends? Who knows how what happened in Butler, Pennsylvania continues to shape the narrative, which will be the new cycle for the last four months heading up to the election, and what it does to agitate or continue to, unfortunately, inspire or motivate the worst of the worst from the other side of the aisle to take every American's right to go to the ballot box and select to the leader of this country is going to be into their own hands. And you know, they even asked on junior today at the RNC, like, it's a time to stop. You know, we understand Donald Trump gets these ridiculous crowds and this, that and the other thing, but are we really looking at Donald Trump continuing to go and move on and move forward with the rally circuit? And he's like, like a staple of my father's political persona, like, I would hope that he would continue to do this. Yeah, I mean, I wonder, obviously, the Secret Service is going to be a little bit more on point because they don't need two black eyes looking like total ass javelins. Yeah, well, Mike Huckabee, who's also another close personal friend of Donald Trump, someone who's also kind of a spiritual advisor for him as well. We all know Sarah Huckabee Sanders was the press sec before she became the governor of Arkansas and filled in for her father, you know, there as well. He jumped on Boomer sweats to kind of talk about, you know, Newt Gingrich kind of gave how this is a redux and the newest version of what had happened to major political figures in the face of an assassination attempt over the decades that our republics been a country. Mike Huckabee wanted to take it to a spiritual level and kind of give some insight on that. Let's take it out. On Gerald Ford's life, and here we are, we're talking about that much, that difference, that millimeter or two, and we may be having a very different story tonight and it's chilling. I think we have to be very aware of the fact that God's hand was on Donald Trump tonight, but if you look at that. Amen, Governor. I would say God's hand has been on Donald Trump since he came down the escalator. Every possible way to destroy him has been used every possible way that gone after him in criminal court, they've gone after him in civil court, they've gone after him with fake impeachments with the most ridiculous charges thrown at him time and time again. He's the most resilient man I've ever seen. I have to believe that God spared Donald Trump today because he knows we need Donald Trump to lead this nation back to a place where people could live their lives in freedom and respect and responsibility and we haven't had that and it's time we get back to it. And I'll get mocked for saying this, but the battle we're in Sean is not political, it's spiritual and we need to understand that we are in a spiritual battle in this nation. It's a good point by the former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate that he makes there. It's hard to argue when you look at, I mean, literally the width of a piece of hair is determined this weekend whether or not we're having this conversation right now or are we having our first episode of, you know, steak for morning and I'm not talking about breakfast time morning, I'm talking about morning morning, like a nation morning. And you know, Joe Biden didn't do any favors to himself or get out of his own way. No, did you hear where our political differences need to be hashed out moving forward? No, where's that at the battle box at the battle box? The battle and then the news corrected it. Yeah, the battle bot memes that have come out since that's, listen, when you're going to have a presidential address from the Oval Office, I believe this is the third time it's happened. I can't remember the second. The first was the Afghanistan withdrawal retreat under Joe Biden. And this was the third one. He spoke for two minutes and he couldn't even read off the teleprompter, blurred battle and ballot and said it twice and just comes off as just like a sloppy ass hat, like unempathetic. You know, later in the show, Noah, we're going to take a, we're going to play a tale of dueling interviews. JD Vance sat down with Boomer sweats, Sean Hannity last night at the RNC convention while Joe Biden was doing a prerecorded, probably heavily edited interview with MSDNC analyst and never Trump or Lester Holt. So, and when you see the way that these two men conduct themselves and how much, how many miles there is of difference in, you know, preparation or lack there of JD Vance needs to pull it off at the same time while Joe Biden just gets pissed and oddity. I can't believe that a non live interview, they allowed him to be this pissed off in, but hey, that's it. We're getting ready to jump in with Roger Marshall, but I do want to play this clip of Joe Biden from the Oval. Let's check it out. Yesterday, shooting at Donald Trump's rally in Pennsylvania calls on all of us to take a step back, take stock of where we are, how we go forward from here, thankfully, former Trump is not seriously injured. I spoke on the line, I'm grateful he's doing well in Jill and I, keep him and his family in our prayers. We'll also extend our deepest condolences to the family of the victims who was killed. Corey was a husband, a father, a volunteer firefighter, he won't even let him read that last night. Children, his family from those bullets, we should all hold his family and all those injured in our prayers. Earlier today, I spoke about an ongoing investigation. We do not know the motive of the shooter yet. We don't know his opinions or affiliations. We don't know whether he had help or support or if he communicated with anyone else. Law enforcement professionals, as I speak, are investigating those questions. Tonight, I want to speak to what we do know. A former president was shot, an American citizen killed while simply exercising his freedoms to support the candidate of his choosing. We cannot. We must not go down this road in America. We've traveled before throughout our history. Violence has never been the answer. Whether it was members of Congress and both parties being targeted in the shot, or a violent mob attacking the Capitol on January 6th, or brutal attack on the spouse or former speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, or information and intimidation on election officials, or the kidnapping plot against the sitting governor, or an attempted assassination on Donald Trump. There is no place in America for this kind of violence, or for any violence ever, period. No exceptions. We can't allow this violence to be normalized. You know you love it, Noah? No. Not even a little bit? Not even a smidgen. The New York Times, Sunday opinion. This is well after they had time to take this out. He failed the test of leadership in betrayed America. Voters must reject him in November. Donald Trump is unfit to lead. That's the cover page of their op-ed section on Sunday, hours after Donald Trump was nearly assassinated in Pennsylvania. It's crazy. Yeah. You know the way this all shook out, and again thank God he's okay. You know Brett Bear might not only be good at just calling elections early. There's some rumors that him and Donald Trump kind of got a little bit of like a weird friendship going. Really? Well you know on Father's Day there was- What if he just flips at the end and just starts supporting Trump? I mean it's kind of weird to me because on Father's Day there were some pictures that showed Donald Trump and his family Baron, Melania, and you know some of the kids were eating lunch at Mar-a-Lago and Brett Bear was sitting at the table and it was like that's kind of weird. And then you know some of the breaking news that's come out in the mainstream lately has been Brett Bear having offline conversations, telephone conversations, with Donald Trump and then being able to go on Fox News and report on it. I don't know if it's one of those things where Donald Trump had told Brett Bear, "Hey listen I'm really not happy with Paul Ryan and the direction that the Murdochs are doing to not make me look like a good candidate when I am, I'm going to allow you some access and if you want to report on it accurately you'll continue to get it. I don't know what's going on but there's something. Last clip I've got before we jump in with Dr. Roger Marshall was from the RNC today. Martha McGowan who's again a never-trumper, Donald Trump called her out and said she should have a show with also never-trumper Neil Cavuto and it would have the worst ratings ever but bad ratings don't matter on Fox News, took a call from Brett Bear who took a call from Donald Trump to give a little update ahead as the convention got kicked off today to check it out. Right now former President Trump has just spoken to Brett Bear, he says he is on his way here to Milwaukee for the RNC convention, he talked about some changes in the convention kicking off tomorrow so let's bring Brett right in, anchor and executive editor of Special Report Brett Good W with us, got a little competing warm-up music back here as they get ready for the week, but tell us a little bit about your conversation with the former president and current nominee. Yep, we talked for about 15 minutes and he said I could kind of express some of the things he talked about. He's in really great spirits, he is on his way to Milwaukee, leaving at 3.30, he made a truth social post about that saying that they're not going to let the shooter affect any of his plans, did consider delaying coming here to Milwaukee but is moving forward with that. You know I want to put up that video at the beginning of that speech and just give you his words about characterizing how that all went down. You know at the speech you see that he turns to the right, that's because there's this big graphic of immigration stats about border security stats and he wasn't doing it in his speech at that moment, like it was ahead of time and he called up the graphic early and so he turned sideways to look at the big graphic on the side which is why his head is turned as he's looking that way, there you see it. And right at that moment he gets this, what he calls like the biggest mosquito of his lifetime or a bumblebee, that's what it feels like in his ear and he realizes he looks at his hand and its blood and he goes down. He said it happened so quickly and then the Secret Service jump on him and they're very strong, he really praised the Secret Service for acting as they did and protecting him. He also referenced this picture from Doug Mills, the New York Times photographer and that bullet that you see there in the background, talking about it, he was amazed that it happened, he understands he's blessed to be where he is today, in fact the doctor he said he talked to said if that bullet was a quarter of an inch different position he would not be talking to that doctor today. He told me a number of things but I asked about the convention, his thoughts about things and how he's thinking about it, he had a couple of posts on Truth Social that called for unity in the country and he expressed that he is going to make that a theme here in the convention and maybe making some changes based on what he says, what others are doing, he did talk about inviting Nikki Haley to speak and her accepting that as one of those things. He praised President Biden for the phone call that he gave him, made to the former president, he said it was a good conversation and in not so many words Biden expressed condolences for the family that was lost, the Coventory family and the former president mentioned that as well, being that they talked about that but also that the president was lucky that he turned to the side, so he praised President Biden for that. He's worried about how things are going to develop in the country but he said that he was really pleased with how the Secret Service acted and thinks that the convention is going to go on as scheduled and he's on his way here to Milwaukee. What do you think Noah? The message is on point and I mean just psychologically speaking of what just happened to him, like can you imagine coming that close to death, I mean I've done stupid shit and like almost squished myself a couple times and it makes you think like how fragile we really are and I can only imagine like him redoubling his efforts just knowing that what he's doing is so important and because those are the level that people are willing to stoop to stop him from doing the job that's at hand. No I completely agree with you and I think that's the best place for us to leave it. We're going to see the events of the week continue to unfold as the party comes together, as the country comes together behind Donald Trump, we're all going to move on from this really unfortunate incident which happened over the weekend, the assassination attempt and you know heading out of the RNC we're going to be looking to ride a wave of momentum straight to the ballot box in November. So Noah I bit you would do, I appreciate you know this is a monster opening segment for our show almost twice as long as they usually are but it's a topic that we really had to address kind of break down and talk about, continue to digest as a nation, hopefully our listenership enjoyed it and we'll be catching you hopefully on our Friday edition of the podcast this week. All right, joining us next on the show today, this big Tuesday edition of the State of Breakfast podcast. He's the Republican Senator from the great state of Kansas, welcoming back again, Dr. Roger Marshall. Welcome back to the show. Ron, great to be with you and good morning from Milwaukee at the National Convention. It's great to be here. No, great to host you and listen, I think we've got to start where the rest of America is, hearts and minds coming out of an historic weekend assassination attempt on President Trump, thank the Lord that he was able to make it out of that, make it over to Milwaukee and be ready to address the nation and bring this country together. But I just want to get some commentary from you, Dr. Marshall, on how you saw the events unfold and where you're at right now as we still continue to process this today. Yeah, I met with probably about 200 people last night, of course, lots of friends and families calling me texting me. And so many people really feel like this was divine provenance, that there were angels watching out over President Trump. Really, if he hadn't moved his head just a quarter of an angle away, we would probably have had a true assassination rather than an assassination attempt. I want to stop though and just acknowledge the life of Cory, Chief Cory, who was a loving father through his body around his loved ones to protect them. So there was an assassination and two other people injured as well were grateful though that Donald Trump was spared. I think that God has something special planned for him and we'll see that in full this week. It feels like we're here making history that destiny is upon us. You know, when you talk about what got us to that point and the ramping up of political rhetoric, it's so easy for politicians and people in the media to go out and make a talking point. You know, they do a two, three minute hit on Fox News or CNN. They do something that they want to be controversial about, that they want to grab a headline in this Saturday other thing. But when it starts to materialize in the physical fashion like you did up in Pennsylvania this weekend, Senator, you know, I don't want to think that, you know, we have to ramp this down in regards to the political rhetoric from the left. There's no way to really hold your other side of the aisle counterparts accountable. But the fact of the matter is that Donald Trump has never campaigned on violence. He's campaigned on policies that are going to improve this country standing in the world and essentially just cliches it sounds, make America great again. You know, and when you talk about where we go from here, what are some of the things you'd like to see, you know, as far as the media calling it straight and shooting down more of the middle than, you know, whenever they disagree with something that Donald Trump wants to do policy wise, it's so easy to fall back on well, he's a threat to democracy or he's essentially the second coming of Hitler and things of that nature. Yeah. So, so number one, the goal of the national media is to make you angry. That's what they're trying to do. So there's plenty of blame on both sides. We all need to turn the volume down. We all need to choose our words a little bit more carefully. And it truly starts with the current president of the United States for him to project and say that President Trump is a danger to democracy. Really, he's the danger to democracy. Joe Biden is the danger to democracy when he lets 11 million people cross our border illegally. So I'm trying to stay focused on the policy here. Say focus on Joe Biden's policies, whether it's him or Kamala, let's stay focused on the policies and really to anybody out there listening to me. This is not a time for violence. There's never a time for violence. Okay. There's never a time for violence. What you need to do is go out and vote. If you're not registered to vote, you need to get registered and then get out in November and vote. That's how you make your voice be heard. Now, over the weekend also, you saw one of your counterparts in the lower chamber, James Comer come out and say he wants a full investigation into this. Joe Biden also said he'd like an independent investigation into the security breakdowns as well. Now, listen, all 100 by orchestras is the head of DHS as the secret service falls under his watch as well. When you see the security failures going back to all the way as something as recent as the withdrawal from Afghanistan and there's been no accountability at any level for anything that happened there. What are your expectations level at a thorough investigation and showing to the American public that there were security breakdowns and the fact that the man that's going to be essentially in charge of leading that investigation is someone who's already been impeached in the House of Representatives. Well, certainly we need accountability and next, I just want to stop, my dad was a law enforcement officer. I want your listeners to understand that the secret service did their job. They were doing exactly what they were supposed to do, that I want to compliment the counter sniper. He was waiting for the order, waiting for permission to take out the assailant, the assassin and he did not have orders to engage until the sniper fired and then he took him out with one shot. I know, I can't imagine the stress at that particular moment, he did his job. The other secret service members tackled Donald Trump so hard, they knocked his shoes off. I think that there's some protocol issues here. I think that we have to allow our counter snipers, the ability to make the decision in the field. They know the situation much better than someone down the ground does. I trust them. These are professionals, most of all of them are special ops in the military. We need to figure out how in the world do we let that person up on the roof in the first place? 35 yards from the former president of the United States and lastly I'll say this, it's a miracle in 40 years. We haven't had any other, almost successful attempts like this. They've done a good job. What's happened here the last two years is we moved the secret service over under Secretary Mayorkas and I'm really curious to see what's happened because of that. What type of culture has changed? When you talk about changing the culture, just recently Donald Trump put out a statement saying that it's time to cut through all the political tape and the rhetoric and he even called for the secret service protection to be added to someone like RFK Jr. who's running as an independent in this race. You want to talk about how amazing it's been that we haven't had a successful or more publicly broadcasted attempts on politicians' lives. Donald Trump's pointing out a very high value candidate there in RFK Jr. His family has a long history of running into things the wrong way when it comes to people targeting them politically and I think it's a good measure for President Trump to call on the Biden administration to kind of cut the junk and get out there and give this guy some of the support he needs and security he needs to continue his race as an independent candidate. Yeah, Ron, I think we all see that Donald Trump is a fighter but too often we don't get to see the compassionate side of him. You think about RFK Jr. I was a young boy, I think nine, eight or nine years old when Bobby Kennedy was assassinated by Surin, Surin as I recall and just months before that Martin Luther King Jr. And just years before that it was JFK as well. So I can't imagine how much courage it takes for RFK Jr. to go out and campaign in this current situation and have been agreed with President Trump, afford him all the protection that he needs as well. We probably need to double down on everything here in Milwaukee. I'm amazed at the security that we have here, the fences, it's almost impossible for me to get in. So yeah, we have to crank it up. No, we certainly do. And then when you saw the announcement come out this week from Florida federal judge Eileen Cannon dismissing the special documents case and investigation special counsel, DOJ appointed Jack Smith investigating President Trump. I mean, you know, she laid it out there pretty cleanly the Department of Justice seems to have targeted Donald Trump. They didn't go through the correct congressional avenues to appoint this special counsel and use the methodology. That's more common to have these people providing investigations in the political figures, etc. Unless you look at the long documented cases of everyone from President Obama and Clinton to Joe Biden, who never had presidential authority to, you know, have documents similar in their own possessions. And it seems like the right call was made here. And I just kind of want to get a little commentary on how you saw this shake out. Yeah. It's great that there are judges that want to do the right thing to follow the Constitution. And then even though we've seen the Biden administration use the Department of Justice as a political weapon against the chief opponent for this presidential election, it's great to see a judge and I know nothing about her background. But certainly I appreciate her stepping forward and saying, look, that Jack Smith should have never even be placed in charge of this, that that part was unconstitutional to start with. And then again, to your point, let's hold Joe Biden accountable. He was a U.S. Senator with top secret papers that he walked out of a skiff somehow, some way. I would assume that if I did that, I would get 40 tongue lashings and even worse. So yeah, let's hold Joe Biden accountable. My dad, the chief of police for 25 years equal application of the law. That's what he preached. No, it's the thing that we need to see a lot more of. And then finally, I think it's the topic we all want to talk about, Dr. Marshall, the mood in the atmosphere at the RNC convention. It seems like after the weekend, some of the outliers in the Republican party who, you know, have thrown their name behind Donald Trump, but didn't fully come out and say, we're coalescing behind the party and the ticket and the candidate have done so. They've added a robust amount of speakers in addition, the 20-point policy platform that the RNC and Donald Trump is going to present to the American people later this week. I mean, I know America is clamoring to hear from the president who does so many public speaking events by the time we get to Thursday. We'll find out who the vice president is in just a couple hours today as well. But I just kind of want to, what's it like on the ground there? What's the feeling? What's the mood? And how is the Republican party getting ready to present this candidate as the unifier for the entire country? It's someone who's running as the Republican candidate, but the president who's running for all Americans, we've seen so many people coming back under the MAGA tent to cycle and it's because of failed policies of the current administration. I think the time is right. The time is now and we're looking to capitalize on this week, big time in Wisconsin. Yeah, Ron, I think you're nailing it. I think the theme is unity. I've never seen this big of a diverse group together sharing the same goals that we all want to make America great again. You know, today we're going to talk about making America wealthy again, then we'll talk about making America secure again, then making America strong again. And then finally, let's make America great once again. So I think that's a theme where together every election is about the future. And when we are all preaching the same message, it's a great day for us all to get beyond the platform. I know there's some little nuances, but I'm really excited about the platform. It speaks to the two biggest issues that Americans are concerned about, you know, securing the border and then getting inflation under control. And then four or five other very critical points as well. And kind of put some meat on the bones explaining how we do that. How do we make America wealthy again? Well, look, we start with cutting regulations and cutting taxes, balancing the federal budget. Simple things like that. Free and simple trade agreements, Joe Biden's done one trade agreement since he got in office as well. It's a reward innovation and hard work once again. So I'm excited. I'm excited to get that message out. But I think the mood here is that I feel like we are writing history, that we feel that we are in a moment of America's history where we saw eight years of decline under Barack Obama, eight years of the apology tour, and we had four good years under Donald Trump. He stabilized it. And now Joe Biden has destroyed everything that President Trump did. I think this is a day of awakening for America, and I'm just honored and proud to be part of it. No, and we're honored and proud to have you join us on the show today. Listen, we have your senatorial website live linked in the show description is always Dr. Marshall, always a pleasure, busy week for you, but we're glad you were able to join us anywhere else. We could follow you on social media and check out the great work that you're doing. I think our X is at Roger Marshall MD, and then Marshall dot Senate dot gov, Marshall dot Senate dot gov at Roger Marshall MD. Thanks, Ron. Absolutely fantastic as it is. Anytime we can catch up with the Republican senator from the great state of Kansas providing commentary today from the state of Wisconsin, Dr. Roger Marshall, thanks for joining us on the show. Have a great rest of your week. Of course, it's Trump is a Nazi time again. Let's deal with Hitler, okay. I don't think it's hyperbolic to say that. I mean, that is Mussolini Hitler like language trumps affinity for Hitler was always covered under an umbrella of his stupidity echoing Hitler's words. Listen to this. Well, Hitler was duly elected by echoing the hateful rhetoric of Adolf Hitler echoes Hitler. That's the kind of language Hitler used in mine comp. That vermin and the and Hitler and Mussolini. That's a horrifying clip. That's a fascist clip. We're just going full on Hitler from Hitler's Germany. We just need to say for the record that the term vermin was really effectively used by Adolf Hitler echo dictators like Hitler with language evoking authoritarian figures like Adolf Hitler and Adolf Hitler, it's Donald Trump parroted the autocratic language of Adolf Hitler. It's really in some Hitler's generals. Correct. All right, jump back into the news portion of the show here. First of two big Tuesday editions of the stake of breakfast podcast, Noah has departed and so it'll just be me for the rest of the programming today, but we're going to get through it and we are going to take you guys down the road right now as the world reacted to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump's life over the weekend out in Butler, Pennsylvania. So that was a little montage of many key political figures and pundits in the left over the years who have used Donald Trump's likeness and comparing him to former Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. And for those who are looking or maybe questioning on how political rhetoric could be ramped up to a level that someone would literally attempt to take Donald Trump's life. Well, for the most case, you don't necessarily have to look much further than opening up a social media application on your cell phone or turning on cable news in the evening every night because those weren't fringe podcasts and you know, YouTube shows dealing in political punditry that air on places like YouTube and other applications using you see commentary on X and things of that nature. This is some of the biggest political figures in the game across every major media platform and channel saying the same thing for years now that Donald Trump is the second coming of Hitler. He invokes Hitler in a lot of the rhetoric that he delivers to supporters on the campaign trail. He's used it and applied it in policies that were applied during his first term in office. You know, it just goes beyond what normal political theater usually is and it's because a lot of these people know what's at stake. In the media, it's their access to the government and the government. It's their access to the lobby groups and the special interests and the fact that they can all get fat financially off of pushing gender ideology and diversity, equity and inclusion and furries in the military, open borders and green to everything. And while it doesn't necessarily directly affect them, it has turned our country into an absolute disaster over the course of the last few years. Now that's not necessarily, and we shouldn't just shine the light on dearly departed political figures like Adolf Hitler over the years. We all know died near the end of World War II because the mainstream press and major political figures have not only been likening Donald Trump to him, but they've been calling him essentially a threat to democracy and that this country ends if he gets to take power again for a very long time. Got another montage keyed up, let's check it out. This would be the end of America. If this is what we're going to be, this won't be a democracy. That's a monarchy. It was repugnant. An actual Trump led wannabe empire is the end of democracy. A reelection of Donald Trump put me in the end of democracy. When will America stop sleepwalking towards the end of democracy? Right. One, can Donald Trump really win again? And two, will it really be the end of American democracy if he does? And my answer to both those questions was yes. Increasingly, Donald Trump is turning this nation into Nazi Germany. I hate comparing Trump to Hitler because Hitler could concentrate for more than 30 seconds. I want to start using the word fascist. Yeah, he's a fascist. The tendencies, many tendencies like Adolf Hitler. You don't have a president, as you said, talking about exterminating Latina. This is not a reach. You'd go back and talk about Nazi Germany and I do it without any concerns whatsoever. And if people can't start drawing the parallels, well, you're just stupid or you have your head in the sand or you're one of them. The 1940s Nazi sympathizers, they were also called Make America First. I'm sorry, is that straight out of Nazi Germany? A historian will say, what was at stake tonight and this week was the fact whether we will be a democracy in the future, whether our children will be arrested and conceivably killed. We're on the edge of a brutal authoritarian system. One year from now, it could be over. American democracy could be over. Donald Trump, one year from now, could win. When are they going to start acting like American democracy is on the line? I've got to love it. Every single time you open up your phone or turn on your television, that's what about 90 million viewers a quarter are ingesting. As you know, we've read the numbers to how many people still tune into cable news and the mainstream media. The largest outlets, Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN average, just under 45 million viewers each per quarter. So for those of you out there thinking that people just don't watch the mainstream press anymore, tune in or head over to those websites to get some headlines, that's some of the commentary that they're getting almost on a nightly basis there. So you don't have to look any further outside of what could potentially motivate someone like the shooter in Pennsylvania this weekend than those who terminally live online and incessantly tune into the mainstream press. And it's just a shame. Again, a father is dead. Two other people were critically wounded, numerous others received superficial injuries. But again, it's not something that should be sustained at a Donald Trump rally. They are usually very well behaved with little interference from outside entities. And you know, obviously the assassination attempt on Donald Trump's life came within less than a fraction of an inch before us talking about something a whole lot different today, which leads us back to the security breakdown and complete lack of communication between all the entities that were collaborating together on that day, whether or not Donald Trump was using the D team due to other Democrat led events in the state of Pennsylvania, whether or not this is just some of the people who are regionally assigned to key political figures that come into the air. We still don't have the answers yet. You know, I'm seeing him come across the wire today. The House Oversight Committee, led by James Comer, was supposed to be sitting down with the director of the Secret Service behind closed doors. Well, not only has that meeting not taken place yet, James Comer put out on his social media in just the last hour that it's not even scheduled via their office for today. So in much like the House Oversight fashion, James Comer is now issuing a subpoena and will have the director of the Secret Service, I guess, for an open door hearing, which is going to be scheduled on July 22nd, that's the news that's breaking right now as we're recording this part of the show, embattled DHS Secretary impeached in the House of Representatives, one of the world's biggest scumbags on the 100 May orchis took to the airwaves on Sunday to try and ease the concerns of those who wonder how something like this could happen, especially with some of the video that's come out viral now over the course of the past few days showing concerned citizens trying to inform law enforcement, reports coming out that law enforcement tried to engage this guy and when the officer saw himself staring down the barrel of the rifle, got off the roof in a hurry, who knows where the communications went from there. And then I even saw a picture today, if you follow Sean Parnell on social media, go check it out. He put out a really good behind Donald Trump angle. And when you could see, without using any kind of filters, anything where that building was line of sight wise to where Donald Trump was speaking and how really close we all were to this all being over, it's not going to sit well with you. Here's the DHS Secretary talking when CNN on Sunday morning, let's check it out. The United States Secret Service shoulders, but we work with our federal partners and state and local partners to ensure the safety and security of the Republican National Convention, the Democratic National Convention, and each and every campaign event. Secretary, just finally, you said changes will be made, an independent review will happen, this cannot happen. Do you expect or would you want to see people lose their jobs over what has just happened? Donald Trump had a near death experience, one man is now dead and two more people were shot, seriously shot and wounded and recovering now in a hospital. Kate, I have full confidence in the leadership of the United States Secret Service, an independent review will make factual findings and recommendations based on those findings and I look forward to studying those findings and recommendations and acting accordingly. Secretary, I was literally just handed this, we have new reporting coming in from CNN's Whitney Wiles that says a spokesman for U.S. Secret Service tells CNN that the agency did not personally sweep the building where the attempted assassin shot former President Trump, but instead leaned on local law enforcement to conduct security at that location. Are you okay with that? Kate, let me make two points, number one, let me repeat that we will defer to an independent review of the facts to determine what those facts are and make findings and recommendations based on it. Number one, number two, in campaign events historically and now, including the conventions themselves, we were collaboratively with our federal partners as well as with our state and local partners. These are very, very significant undertakings and we work seamlessly and closely with our partners across the national security, homeland security enterprise. I am going to defer to the independent review and we will take those findings and recommendations and act on them accordingly. I guess that's an ass hat. Every single thing that comes out of his mouth just makes me sick. No, kind of and listen, I know there's a lot of people out there where every other post that somebody shows video of breakdown of communication and the ability to protect Donald Trump and that Butler rally is wondering why heads haven't rolled yet figuratively obviously, meaning why haven't people lost their jobs, stepped down, et cetera. You just have to think back to a couple of years ago, folks, if the method of metrics that we're using for the Biden administration in regards to leadership accountability, as the gold standard is the Afghanistan withdrawal. Well, I guess all of the people who were tasked with protecting Donald Trump over the weekend will eventually be getting promotions instead of getting fired and you could just take that for what it is as we could take this with all 100 May orchis. He said fucking die. Mm. Guys give two shits about what happened this weekend in Pennsylvania and there's probably a little bum that Donald Trump made it out of there for the most part unscathed. He ever take a portion of his ear. He would put on a press conference yesterday and address some of the issues, namely his faith and confidence in the director of the United States Secret Service. Let's check it out. On that does, do you, does the president have confidence in the Secret Service director after Saturday's failures? I have 100% confidence in the director of the United States Secret Service. I have 100% confidence in the United States Secret Service and what you saw on stage on Saturday with respect to individuals, putting their own lives at risk for the protection of another is exactly what the American public should see every single day. It is what I indeed do. He does that. Was he talking about himself in the same context as the girl who was hiding behind the people, the Secret Service agent that was hiding behind the other agents who were shielding Donald Trump? Or was she talking about the fat slobby girl who couldn't get her own gun around her gut role and back into the holster while Donald Trump was being helped into the SUV? Is that what he does every day? That's a good question. And then security concerns regarding what's going on with the RNC is probably something that's on everybody's mind. And you have to take into account and wonder would they be making any adjustments ahead of the convention getting kicked off last night? The RNC coordinator for the Secret Service was asked at a press conference on Monday whether that would be the case or were they just going to roll with the original plans. I can tell you what, and a lot of our listenership is probably key to this, Donald Trump's Secret Service detail coming out of the warmup area down the ramp onto the RNC convention floor and to his seating looks a lot different than it didn't but their Pennsylvania last night. But let's hear the Secret Service coordinator director for the event that's taking place right now. Yes, Mark Baird at the Fox News, I'm curious, obviously you don't want to talk about what happened in Pennsylvania. Have you had to change your security posture at all here and if so how is it a small percent change? Is it looking at over everything once again? And then the follow-up question would be just in terms of resources, and if you mention 18 months as you go into this, do you feel like you've had all the resources you've needed to get to this point today or do you feel like more? So as Mayor Johnson and Chief mentioned, this is a national special security event. That designation is the highest level of security designation that the federal government can determine. So we are confident that they in these security plans that are in place for this event and we're ready to go. It's been an 18-month process, it's the, we've worked together over that 18 months to develop operational security plans for any and all aspects of security related to this event. But did it change within the last one, and any change that made in the last 24? We're not anticipating any changes to our operational security plans for this event. Thank you. So there you have it. I think the RNC is going to be secured in the same fashion that they've been planning for for the last 18 months, but she did allude to the fact that these events are taking with the same level of security as the highest level of security that America trains their agents and officers for. What that means, I have no idea. When you look in contrast to different kinds of events that could happen, public speaking, or formal speeches, events with other world leaders, I would have to think there's a multitude of different scenarios that they lay out as part of their preparation measures. But you know, at this point, there's no way to really be able to identify the crazies in the crowd. So I'd continue to hope and pray that what some tab them as America's find this continue to be just as such when it comes to the security of Donald Trump. And you know, while we're kind of shaping this narrative of how the world reacted to the assassination attempt, what's been done, is there any accountability coming, et cetera? We're going to continue to stick in this thread. But before we do guys, wherever you listen to the show today, thanks for being on board with us and welcome to stake for breakfast. Never miss out on all the great stuff we've got going on down here at the show. Margaret Brennan asked Steve Scalise yesterday how the house has responded to the fallout from the shooting up in Pennsylvania over the weekend and whether or not senior members of the house, including leadership are talking about toning down some of the rhetoric again. You don't hear a lot of comparisons to Hitler and threats to democracy being mentioned about Joe Biden from political figures outside of Donald Trump. And you know, when you look at how Republicans usually have to react to things instead of being at the forefront from it, we were hoping not to catch Republican leadership on their heels and making excuses for themselves even after something like the assassination attempt on President Trump. I wonder what your message is, have you specifically instructed members in the coming hours to rein in some of the rhetoric that I will point out some are using online that is somewhat incendiary in terms of really blaming this somehow on the administration? Have you asked them to refrain from that? I've already been very vocal within moments of the shooting that political violence is not something anybody should tolerate, but also I came out one further and said that we needed to dial the rhetoric down. And there's been a lot of rhetoric for the last few months and you know, and I think some of that, you know, this idea and Bob Barr even said it that Donald Trump, some threat to democracy, that kind of language doesn't, all it takes is one person to hear that and act on it, and I don't know if that's the case today, but those are the kind of things that shouldn't be said, and you know, all of us need to do better and dial the language down. Let's focus on the issue. We have real serious issues that divide us and in real serious problems in this country, let's let the next four months be about how to fix and solve those problems in America and not have the incendiary language that unfortunately we're seeing right now. You know, as I'm seeing reports come across the wire today of the ongoing investigation into the shooter, I believe his name was mentioned in an audio clip already and we're not going to go back to glorifying his actions. Apparently, the federal law enforcement has been able to break into his phone. They put together kind of a timeline, things that he did, which included, you know, going to the range the day before the Trump rally and going to Home Depot the morning of and purchasing a five foot ladder. Now when it comes to trying to get to the bottom of whether or not this person was motivated by someone or inspired by some thing, they're saying after being through his phone and still trying to, I guess, crack into his laptop. There haven't been many answers regarding those questions yet, which seems kind of alarming and it's probably bullshit and I think we'll get a more concrete and clear perspective of what the shooter's mindset was and where he found the incentive to carry out this assassination attempt once the investigation is complete. However, who knows how much is going to be released to the American public, as we all know, the American federal government is very shitty at doing that stuff. So checking in some of the punditry and those trying to make excuses for the behavior that they've exhibited over the course of the last while essentially eight years and are now trying to cover for themselves, we can't look any further to MSDNC. Jen Psaki is scared. She's scared for herself. She's scared for other journalists. People who have public platforms and have an opinion after the assassination attempt on President Trump's life, let's hear it. That is the question and Jen, in fact, we've already seen the finger pointing begin. Some people even blaming President Biden, we heard that very forceful condemnation by President Biden of what happened as someone who used to work with the president. What are you anticipating in terms of he's obviously pulled his political ass forward, but as Carol said, the question is how long does this moment last and how do you think he sees his role right now? I mean, I think his role, I'm betting that how he responded was as a human being, which is how we just saw Lindsey Graham at Moments during that interview and Senator Sanders and Senator Coons respond, that's how everybody should be responding. For anyone out there who has a platform who thinks the moment right now is to be political and attack the other party, you are feeding into the danger, you are making it more likely there's retaliation. I'm incredibly scared and scared for journalists, I'm scared for people who have public platforms of all parties, and that's how people should feel. So for President Biden, I mean Senator Coons mentioned he was in church, he's somebody who's very prayerful, he is somebody who attends church, I think he probably is relying on that, and in this moment, I think his instinct would be not to be political, and you just take it day by day, that's where he would be, I mean, he has a huge interview tomorrow, and the moment there is not to talk about the political path forward, it is to be a healer and to lower the rhetoric, and the tenor in the conversation in the country. Shut up, bitch! It's going to be so easy for them to try and walk this stuff back, luckily for you guys, honest news outlets, those who report it most accurately, played you about four minutes of Democrats over the last eight plus years calling Donald Trump Hitler in a threats of democracy, those people included Joe Biden, especially at some of his major speaking events, just notably, I mean Joe Biden mentions it all the time now, but you know his ability to read and articulate has gotten so degraded that it's really hard to understand or comprehend the points that he's trying to make, but you just have to go back to that midterm election rally. Joe Biden's Hitler style rally out in Pennsylvania with the red background and the fist waving and the podium outside of Freedom Hall, and how, you know, their goal has always been to divide, and that was the only way to stop Republicans from taking back more control of the government away from these radicals. Joy Reid, who took that narrative from that round table and to the Republican National Convention, sat in between one of the grossest sandwiches you'd probably ever think of. She was the meat inside of a Randy Maddow and Jen Psaki bread loaf, and it was just almost ironic to watch them last night kind of talk about how, well, continue the narrative on how Donald Trump's the bad guy and how now Republicans are going to try and weaponize the narrative that Democrats have used against them for years to say, like, see, we told you so, we told you that they were the bad guys when, again, they doubled down and alleged that Donald Trump is the largest purveyor of political violence. Let's check it out. So, kind of reaction that I'm getting, whether it's civilians or, you know, professionals, is really a deep concern and lack of confidence in not us at this table or us at MSNBC, but us as the media writ large. And a fear that what's going to happen now is that the Republican Party will do what they do. They're in the middle of a campaign. You know, the convention started today, but the media will acquiesce to trying to convince people that the things they've been experiencing for the last, you know, five, six years didn't happen, that the greatest purveyor and promoter of political violence really, you know, since anyone can remember since George Wallace, I think, you know, that we just haven't experienced that kind of open, you know, sort of siting or sort of incitement of violence or sort of luxuriating in the idea of violence, just not something we're used to anymore in American politics. And then we had to get used to that being a thing. And people are concerned and expressing concern that we won't be the guardians of memory and that we will allow Donald Trump as he is, you know, bathed in the glory and grandeur of his party to rewrite himself as both a hero and a victim, that people who are the most vulnerable to not just the things he's done, but the things he's promising to do. And then that will then happen without a guardian saying, wait, stop. And then the media will acquiesce to this rewrite and the people that I've been talking to don't accept the rewrite. Someone's got to get in her ear and say, listen, when you want to use a source word, like acquiesce, one, maybe two times, but three in less than two minutes, now you're just getting into the same category as ramparts and apparatuses. And that's the thing Democrats are now saying that Donald Trump may use the victim card as being such in a targeted political assassination attempt. In addition, presenting himself as a hero, which I think a lot of people not based off the fact that it's Donald Trump, but after his first term in office and having seen what the Democrats have done to this country, kind of want their leader back, not just party leader, but leader in general, president back. And I think, you know, one of the things that a Joe Biden's office that I've seen kind of building as far as the narrative goes is that they're trying to make it seem as though, oh, we're just as astonished as you guys did something like this happen. How could this happen? You know, and I still see that boomerang getting ready to come around where MAGA Republicans are going to be the people who are eventually blamed for what happened up in Pennsylvania in regarding the assassination attempt on Donald Trump's life last weekend. And we just have to be ready to push back on that narrative and push back on it hard because when the Democrats try to present it, remember, they have a large base of people who only get their media from cable news. And this is going to be the story. They're going to wait until the dust settles, maybe even after the RNC convention. Oh, yeah, we've had time to feel bad for Donald Trump. He came out with the cause patch on his ear. He looked very, you know, stoic, but got emotional. You see, Don Jr. was welling up and nearly started balling when his father came onto the floor at the RNC convention on Monday night. But now that we're back out on the campaign trail, listen, Donald Trump and J.D. Vance are going to be in Grand Rapids, Michigan for Trump rally this weekend. So if you think the pedal is coming anywhere other than being pressed firmly to the floor, or if our feet are coming off the gas in any context, moving forward, the answer is absolutely not. There is too much at stake. I think Donald Trump's willingness to get back out there almost immediately confirms that. And before the White House could weaponize the victim card, something that literally Donald Trump should be awarded for again, nearly losing his life. People died. People were critically injured. They are going to try to spend this back that not only did Donald Trump have an assassination attempt on his life because of Republicans. But it's actually something you shouldn't even feel bad for him about because orange band bad. The endoprano on Fox News yesterday is part of their day one coverage of the RNC convention club back at not only Joe Biden's Oval Office address, which was abysmal, you know, saying the places that political discord is hashed out at is the battle box twice. And then almost by saying making America great again before he stuttered through the end of the two-ish minute address he gave to the nation following the attempt on Donald Trump's life. Again, getting out ahead of this and cutting them off of the past before they could weaponize what happened to Donald Trump literally against him is something that we all need to be staying focused on right here. Let's take it out. Tina, I thought that it just fell short of making meeting the moment. And I think that the gravity of the moment also required for somebody like him in the position that he's in at the desk, he's sitting at in the Oval Office to say, and this begins with me. Okay. And I will lead. I will follow me, what follow my lead as I'm going to show everybody that I can do this. Talk about his campaign here, like we're going to get back to the campaign. That was pretty clear from this. I do welcome the idea of unity and also accountability because as the day has gone on, there's just more and more questions about what happened. I think America will be glad that they saw President Biden tonight. But the president they really want to hear from is Donald Trump. And yes, it certainly is. So we're going to kind of leave it at that. The world has reacted. The media is building their narratives. Donald Trump is okay. A man died. Others were hurt. And as a country, we begin to heal and move on and do our best to push forward through the Republican National Convention, but we do have to consider what does it stake here. I think the biggest takeaway from what's happened over the course of the last week is that we as a species take a lot of things for granted. You wake up in the morning, you go through the motions. Sometimes it has to do with work, sometimes family, maybe even your health, health of others. And you just know that the next day you're going to hear the alarm and wake up and get out of bed and everything's going to be just on repeat. You have the ability to make changes. You have the ability to change the course of things and you have the ability to make a bigger difference than maybe you are right now. So take that into consideration as we're getting ready to jump in with the political director of the Trump 2024 campaign and Republican National Committee for the first time, James Blair, who's at the RNC in Milwaukee right now, but before we do another check in with one of our partners. This episode of the podcast is brought to you as always by man rubs, rubs, barbecue tools, blow torches, t-shirts, coffee cups and all around barbecue related gear for you to make barbecue great again can be found at man rubs.com and Instagram, man rubs, music goes steak 15 for 15% off your order. All right, joining us next on the show today, this big Tuesday edition of the stake breakfast podcast. He's the political director of the Trump 2024 campaign and of the Republican National Committee joining us for the first time. Mr. James Blair. Welcome to the show. Thanks. Glad to be here. Appreciate it, guys. Big week coming out of a monumental and historic weekend, not in the good sense to say the very least. James, listen, I just want to get your commentary as we are getting it from everybody on the show today. You know, what happened with President Trump over the weekend and the assassination attempt America got to see it in real time broadcast on every major news network as we were getting closer to the convention and his acceptance of the Republican nominee. More and more networks were picking it up. America was tuned in and we saw history. You know, the president's resilience, his strength and the undeniably that God's hand is touching this campaign are things that a lot of people are talking about right now. But from your perspective and how that kind of unfolded, how the president responded and where we are at today, the start of the RNC, just a little commentary from your end. Sure. So first, I mean, because that saying it was a terrible event and no one likes to see the fact that that political violence, you know, is in our country and escalating, particularly to a level like this, and I'll start by saying that we, the Trump campaign, the president is very sad about the loss of life and the injuries to our supporters. We are sorry to them and their families, but you know, look, I mean, first of all, I think that what happened and the president's reaction really just reflects how strong he is and how he will not be beaten. He will not give up. You know, he obviously was shot and stood right up and pumped his fist and said fight because that's what he's doing. I mean, he tells us and he said for many years, never give up and he's never going to give up and obviously all of the things that have happened through the course of this campaign and really his entire time in politics. I think most men, most people would wither under that, not him. I think he is more emboldened than ever and we look forward to a great convention and, you know, a great unifying event here this week. That was already going to be a unifying event, but I think now you'll see just a completely, you know, everyone rowing in the same direction marching forward because, you know, we have to win. Look at the links that they're going to stop us from just engaging in the political process. So it's disappointing that that happened, but, you know, I think that it's a testament to the president's strength and his resolve, the way he reacted. And I think that you will see that continue to play out here in the coming months on the campaign. Yeah, it's not just a cliche to say he's a once in a lifetime political icon anymore. The man has built different. I think the way he's responded and the way that he's looking to, you know, take that momentum, albeit on the back of some unfortunate events like you pointed out and take it into a massive coalescing at the Republican National Convention Milwaukee this week. I think you can't say enough about that. And then coming from the other side of the aisle, you know, the call for cooling down of the political rhetoric is nice and it's a good talking point in the media. But the fact of the matter is, Trump has never been a promoter of violence. He's never told supporters to physically go after his opponents. He's pointed out how their failed policies have made America not great again. And that his only goal is to do just such. So when you see the calls for people to ramp it down, the actions speak a lot more than words. Obviously, we saw some really tragic actions unfold this weekend. Is the president hope and do you think from the campaign that you're really starting to see the Democrats just want to get back to playing politics instead of, you know, playing with things that could motivate people to do some of the horrific instances that we saw unfold on this weekend? I mean, certainly we would hope that we would certainly hope that the left would change its rhetoric and its tactics. I mean, look, we've seen this for years. I think everybody knows that the left has embraced political violence repeatedly. The things they say, the way they refer to the president as a dictator and these sorts of things, that always the groundwork for justifying, and this is my personal opinion, for justifying whatever, you know, whatever means necessary to stop him from becoming the president again, or Republicans for being in power more broadly, it's really unacceptable. And there's, you know, reams of evidence going all the way up to what the president, the current president, Joe Biden has said himself, and just in the last number of weeks. So look, we'd all like to hope that they tone it down. President Trump has always been peaceful. He's always encouraged his supporters to be peaceful. I mean, whether it's January 6 or otherwise, and frankly, he's a man of peace at large, even with his policies, when he was in office, you know, this is the only president in modern history who's not gotten us into a new war and tried to wind downwards. He is a peaceful man just as a baseline. And that always comes through in his rhetoric didn't be nice to see the other side match that. But I guess time will tell. Yeah, it certainly will. And then when you talk about the expectations of this week, listen, heading into the weekend and before the incident at the Trump rally, you know, there there's still were some Republicans on our side who may have, you know, lent their name towards getting behind President Trump. But it seems like as the Republican National Convention is getting kicked off, there isn't very many people left who aren't behind the president. And I think it says a lot for what his policies mean to America. I hate the fact that it takes an incident to get people fully behind. But when you talk about how unified the side of the ticket is, the fact that Donald Trump released, you know, his platform last week, the RNC adopted one, which goes in line with many of the strongest points of agenda 47. And what he looks to bring to the ticket moving forward and heading towards the ballot box in November. I think when you look at the policies that are going to get this country turned around again, make our streets safer, our border more secure, get our economy back on track, become energy independent and restore our footing geopolitically that we've lost under Joe Biden and his failed foreign policy, I think it says a lot for the man. I think when you look at the track record and the first administration of promises made and promises kept, this is just a second round of it and looking to, you know, capitalize on a lot of the best and strongest points of Donald Trump's first term in office. But you know, it seems like it's a pretty robust and America first legislative agenda that's looking to get passed forward working with hopefully a retained house and flip Senate and should be able to get this country steered back in the right direction pretty fast after Donald Trump is able to win back the White House. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, you know, let's let's let's talk about the platform. The platform that was proposed here at the convention that has been adopted by the rules committee and I think will be adopted, you know, by the full body. That's all had passed 84 to 18 in the rules committee and you can look it up at 2024 gopplatform.com. And what the GOP platform is is really President Trump's 20 promises to America. There's 20 core promises so that the voters understand what they're getting in return for their vote if they return him to leadership of the country and house and Senate along with it. As the president would tell you this common sense agenda, it's common sense and really this whole campaign and the president, you know, he's not radical in any way. It's a return to common sense, whether that's on foreign policy, whether that's on domestic policy, energy policy, economic policy. Look, the border should be closed with with a functioning legal immigration system. That is common sense and common sense for thousands of years. So only recently have we has as the global left determine that open borders make any sense at all. Energy policy, the fact that we should use our natural resources and our people should benefit from them, that's common sense. The fact that people should be able to keep more of their hard earned money, meaning tax cuts, that's common sense. And the fact that we have to, you know, rein in the massive federal bureaucracy, that's just common sense. Look, this is a popular agenda. Not just within the Republican Party, but with the American people, and it was important for the president to lay out an agenda and a platform that any American can look at and easily understand what it is that we stand for because the media does us no favors. They're not honest about what we stand for. I think everybody understands that. And so it is for better or worse incumbent upon us to be able to give something to the voter that they can easily understand and that any of our grassroots activists can easily articulate, here's what we as Republicans and what President Trump stands for. And I think everyone really is unified behind that. That's pretty clear. That's pretty evident. And I will tell you, you know, just out of the events of this weekend, and I don't, you know, I can't get into the specifics, but I can tell you, you know, as you said, there's very few people in the Republican Party who are not, you know, fully behind President Trump. I mean, like you can count them on one hand, but even a couple of those people that you can count on one hand sent and have sent in some stuff that I've been privy to over the last couple of days that are that are very touching in many ways. And, and even they are saying, look, you're the right guy, you're the right guy. You don't deserve to go through this. We know your hearts in it for the right reasons. We may have disagreements sometimes on the edges of policy, but large, you're the right guy and we need you. So I think even from the events of this weekend, nobody wants to see this in our country and certainly not anyone on our side, even if you have a minor disagreement with President Trump, if you're a Republican and really you're just a common sense person in America, you don't like this and you want to restore the country to being a wonderful, normal place to live. And that's what this campaign is all about. No, it certainly is. And, you know, sticking in the thread of this adopted platform and what President Trump is looking to do, you know, in his next term in office, you talk about people that might be on the edge of wanting to come out and fully publicly endorse him, but still sending their support. What does that say for the potential voters to? I mean, this passed through rules like you said, 84 to 18, overwhelming majority here. And although there are, you know, points outlined here, it doesn't mean that this is where Donald Trump's second term in office legislatively, his agenda-wise starts and ends. There's always times, times change, incidents happen, you can't forecast the future. This gives Donald Trump the opportunity to present to the American people exactly what he's campaigning on, the ability to get this country back on the right track and prosper, but also opens up the door to work on other things throughout the course of his second four years in office that may meet the needs or the wants of other people who, you know, still want to see him focus on some other things outside of this specifically as well. Yeah. Absolutely. I mean, look, there's a lot to be done in administration, but I think the platform is really meant to pay sort of the core four corners of the battlefield. As you said, it may not be exactly where it ends, and obviously not every specific is articulated there. But that's not what it's for. Like there's a legislative process to debate policy as should happen. You know, there's many mechanisms in place to put the final, you know, touches on how something comes together, but it is a visionary document that is meant to say, this is what we stand for. And this is the roadmap that we want to pursue to make America great again and put Americans first. And I always say internally, America first means Americans first. And that means in how we spend our tax dollars, that means in how we treat the border, that means in national security, everything should be about putting the citizens of our country first. Their interest should come first. And that's reflected throughout the platform document. And to your point, you know, will other things come up? Yep. The circumstances, James, absolutely. But at the end of the day, there's a legislative process. There's processes to finalize the specifics. But the president wants everyone to understand where he stands and what the goals we are shooting for our should we win in November. You know, and James, last thing I want to touch with you on, it's going to be the messaging. There have been reports that Donald Trump has completely reworked his RNC speech, one that might have been pointed in a different direction. But again, after the events of, you know, last weekend, it seems like this will be one that is targeted at completely unifying the country. You know, we say it to our listenership on the show all the time, whether you talk about people that Donald Trump is looking to potentially tap his former and maybe future administration officials, what the selection of his vice president would be. Here's the deal. Donald Trump is not running to be the president of the Republican Party. He's the Republican nominee. You know, Donald Trump's running to be the president of the United States and for all Americans. When you see the amount of people who have, you know, abandoned the Democrat party over the course of at least the last year, if not longer, and come underneath the MAGA tent, you really can't say enough for the job that President Trump and the team around him, including yourself, has done to promote that message of unity, about prospering, you know, about making America great again, et cetera. What does it say for, you know, probably the president's angle as he's looking to this week, you know, a life changing event like that really motivates a man. And when you talk about using that motivation for the platform that he's about, you know, to be on and that's at the stage of the RNC looking to be the Republican nominee and run for all of America at the top of the ticket again, it says a lot about the direction that this speech is probably going to go in later this week. And I can tell you, at least from our end in our listenership, and we're really looking forward to it. I think it's going to be a great speech, it's going to be historic. And you know, although I won't break news and reveal too much, here's what I would say. The president that I know, the president, Donald Trump that I know, is an incredibly selfless individual who is always thinking about others, whether that's his staff, whether that's his friends, whether that's legislators, he is always thinking about others. Those that have known him a long time would tell you that he's an incredibly generous person personally. So much of his generosity is never seen. And that's okay. He's doing this because he believes in really, he's been saying this. You can go back to the, when he was a younger man in the 1980s and 1990s, he is the same Donald Trump, he's been consistent about, you know, kind of the macro themes and concerns about the country. And you've seen some of those, you know, old interviews, of course, he is running for president again to try to restore the American dream. And I do believe he's the only guy that can do it. I think God put him at this particular moment in time for this particular purpose. That's my personal belief, but I think committee share that belief. And I think that on Thursday, you will see, you will see him make an argument for why it's so important to him. And he would not, you know, this is me praising him. He would not, you know, want to be, he would not want any accolades for being selfless or any of this. I mean, you know, he's happy to do it. But at the end of the day, it, you know, how many other billionaires are just enjoying their life? They're not getting shot at and they're not fighting for what they believe, as you know, many of them can barely bring themselves to issue a tweet or put out a statement. If it, if it, you know, may impact their business, not him, he's all in on this. He cares about bringing the American dream back for Americans because they deserve it. And so I think that you will see, to your point, I think you will see an uplifting moment that reminds everyone that we're one country and, and hopefully we will unify behind him as one leader and hopefully towards this shared goal of making America great again and making it somewhere that people are free to live, how they want worship, how they want. But ultimately, um, chase the American dream. That's what we need to bring back. And that's, and that's what he's trying to achieve. And I think you'll see an uplifting moment. It's a great point. And, you know, we're here for it, James. So this was great catching up with you today for the first time at some point between now and November. Obviously, we'd be more than happy to have you back at any time to talk about things moving forward with the campaign, recent developments, et cetera.
