(intense music) - AP News, I'm Ben Thomas. - My name's Joe Biden and I'm a lifetime member of the NAACP. - 'Cause I'm Biden on a campaign swing addressed the NAACP convention in Las Vegas. - And I am all in! (crowd cheering) - The Socka McGonney reports there's more drama surrounding the Democratic National Convention. - Some House Democrats are circulating an unscented letter to the Democratic National Committee with serious concerns about nominating President Biden in a virtual roll call as soon as next week. The Democrats' convention is not until next month and the letter says it would be a terrible idea to stifle debate about the nominee with an early vote. The roll call was set up to make sure the president could qualify for the ballot in Ohio, but the letter says the state has since changed its rules and the issue is no longer relevant. Sagar McGonney, Washington. - At the Republican National Convention, the main focus is on immigration tonight and Mike Canard reports a couple of Donald Trump's rivals for the GOP nomination are scheduled to speak, including Nikki Haley. - Haley challenged Trump for the Republican nomination this year, but dropped out of the race in March. She later said that she would be voting for him, but didn't release her delegates so they could actually support him until just a few days before the convention began. Haley initially said she hadn't been invited to come to the RNC, but officials reversed themselves on that just hours after the assassination attempt on Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. - Senator Bob Menendez has been convicted of all charges at his corruption trial, including accepting bribes of golden cash from three New Jersey businessmen and acting as a foreign agent for the Egyptian government. Israeli airstrikes have killed more than 60 Palestinians in southern and central Gaza, including one that struck an Israeli declared safe zone. Shoppers paused spending in June. Bob Stevens has a recap. - Teosker Hernandez became the first archer ever to win the Home Run Derby as he outlasted the Royals Bobby Whit Jr. in the final round, 14-13. 31-year-old Hernandez, the seven player for the Dominican Republic, to win the Home Run Derby. Hernandez says, even though he was considered an underdog in the Derby, he showed his talent. - For me, just to be in here, make it to the finals and going through those moments, it just feels grateful right now. - Hernandez has survived a swing-off in the semifinals to beat the Phillies' Alec Bohm. Two-time Derby winner, the Mets Pete Alonso, was eliminated in the first round. He had only 12 home ones, as was Baltimore's Gunner Henderson, who had 11.
