Last night at the Republican National Convention former President Trump appeared triumphantly with a bandage over his right ear after surviving that assassination attempt on Saturday. He has the courage, the strength, and he will be the next president of the United States. Donald Trump is now officially the GOP presidential nominee and his running mate is Ohio Senator J.D. Vance. Meanwhile, there are lots of questions about how an armed man was able to get to a rooftop on Saturday evening and shoot at former President Trump. This is an event that should have never happened. In an exclusive interview on ABC News, World News Tonight with David Muir, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheel says she was shocked when she saw what happened on Saturday and that the Secret Service is responsible. The buck stops with me. I am the director of the Secret Service. It was unacceptable and it's something that shouldn't happen again. Officials are demanding to know how an armed man was able to get to the top of a building near a Donald Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania and shoot the former president in the ear. A sniper killed gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks seconds after he fired the AR style rifle. I'm Donna Water. President Biden is returning to the campaign trail for the first time since the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. The AP's Marjis are led up. Actor James Sicking, known for roles on Hill Street Blues and Dougie Houser MD, has died of complications from dementia, according to his publicist. Sicking was 90. Just gives you a gall darn memo, Frank. James Sicking based his performance of SWAT leader Howard Hunter on Hill Street Blues on a drill instructor he had in basic training. He won an Emmy for the role in 1984. Sicking said in a 1991 AP interview for years, he'd be recognized in cities where Hill Street Blues was airing and reruns. You can always tell a cabbie looks at you and the mirror and goes, hey, Howard, what are you doing here? Sicking also was known for playing Dougie Houser's dad on Dougie Houser MD.
