PiMC: Episode 108 - Taffy The Smelly (Music) Pirate Hooker, or Taylor's Hard (giggle!)
Taffy done screwed up her track to 108, but luckily, she prepared this episode for all of you for next week - so we're just bumping it up a week! Listen as she waxes poetic about her favorite music and tells you all some stories from her youth. Plus, a guest appearance from Mother Huffington! Look for a new episode 109....that would have been 108, but this is 108, that would have been 1....09....I'm confused. Look, just listen to it, ok?

[music] The good news is I wrote it to Small World with Taffy. The bad news is I'm pregnant. It's time for another episode of Pot is My Co-pilot with Taylor the Latte Boy, Tempy Carlisle Huffington, and Rodan. Take it away, kids. [music] You've just downloaded the Taffy Music episode, aren't you fortunate? An entire episode with just my voice, which means I've just lost half of our listeners. Oh, well, I have to tell you that when Taylor asked me to do this, I thought this is going to be a piece of cake. I'm going to pick a couple songs and throw them in an episode and tell I like them. Yeah, this is hard because I love music and I couldn't decide. I had to whittle it down, whittle it down, whittle it down. So, I think I have it down to about six or seven songs, so we're going to start there. I hope everybody's doing lovely tonight and I promise you some of the songs you've know by heart and you've heard before a million times and maybe some of them not so much. But that's okay because we're here to help you learn and grow. Yay. All right, my first song kind of is an homage to Tank and the girls all at once because when I married Tank, I was very much the I listened to 80s music and I listened to pop and I listened to marching band music and that was shocking. And he was the epitome of all things, what was considered dark, which now is considered emo, but I'm talking about Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy and Peter Murphy and Jane's Addiction and Nine Inch Nails and things that I had never heard of coming from a small town in Ohio. Well, when the girls were born specifically when Ollie Pop was born, Tank always sang a song called Marlena Dietrich's Favorite Poem by Peter Murphy. And it's haunting and beautiful and lovely and when you hear the words you're going to think, well that explains a lot about their family if he's singing this to a child to sleep and to this day the Little Stuffington and Ollie Pop know every single word to it because he's saying it to them still does to this day. And every time I hear the song that's all I think about is seeing them when they're a little tiny and him laying beside them, singing them the song. And it's just, it's haunting and beautiful and I love it. So I figure I will start the show off slow and end it explosive. You know, like sex should be starting off slow and ending explosive. So anyways, this is Peter Murphy and Marlena Dietrich's Favorite Poem. [Music] My mother loved her so she said, sadite pearl and droplets, glancing gifts who write a man, spoke lush and freerling hips. Ollie's skin increasing lives, the divorce as she describes, approaching death with a yearning heart with pride and no despise. I test flow as she recounts the favorite word in total. Well, give me peace for her to tell. Don't go away, I broke down to blow. I test flow as she recounts the favorite word in total. Well, give me peace for her to tell. Don't go away, I broke down to blow. [Music] Just wice out tones, no velvet lights, crush a velvet call. Oh, my soul for all who write you on the wall. And hold your tongue about your life. The dead house will change the plot. We'll make your loving sound like snakes, like you were never hot. I test flow as she recounts the favorite word in total. Well, give me peace for her to tell. Don't go away, I broke down to blow. I test flow as she recounts the favorite word in total. Well, give me peace for her to tell. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I test flow as she recounts the favorite word in total. Well, give me peace for her to tell. Don't go away, I broke down to blow. I test flow as she recounts the favorite word in total. Oh, give me peace for her to tell. [Music] I test flow as she recounts the favorite word in total. Well, give me peace for her to tell. Don't go away, I broke down to blow. I test flow as she recounts the favorite word in total. Oh, give me peace for her to tell. Don't go away, I broke down to blow. [Music] Oh, give me peace for her to tell. Don't go away, I broke down to blow. [Music] So you have to admit that is incredible. The voice is incredible, the whole thing. I don't know, Peter Murphy came out about the same time, you know, when I was just learning what all the whole alternative music scene was about. And again, you're talking the late 80s, early 90s, this is before grunge and before, the true emos. And I had never, ever heard any of it. And I had read Leonard Cohen, and I had heard the hallelujah version that Rufus Rainwright made famous. Drum Riley hates Rufus Rainwright, but I happen to like that version of the song. But Leonard Cohen wrote a song that I absolutely love called "I'm Your Man." And he sang it and released it as a single, and it's wonderful. It was, I think it was actually in a book of poems he wrote, but then it was re-recorded many, many, many, many, many years later. By one, Mr. Fabulous Michael Buble. And actually, whenever I hear this song, while I think of Tank, I actually think of Babaloo a little bit, because Babaloo, I don't know why, but this song just makes me think of him. And he actually has another Michael Buble song that he absolutely loves that I can't think of the name of right now, but that's okay. But this song is, whenever I hear it, I feel instantly kind of naughty and sexy and kind of just slinky. Like I should have, you know, like a floor-link thread dress on and be laying across to piano and fabulous. And so this is "I'm Your Man," written by Leonard Cohen, as performed by Michael Buble. ♪ ♪ If you want a lover, I'll do anything you ask me to ♪ ♪ And if you want another kind of love, I'll wear a It's not possible. It's just the song just makes you happy. I don't... It makes me happy, maybe, because I can remember, you know, listening to it on the radio and watching the video and with all the really bad cheesy 80, early 90s, iconic, you know, strobe lights and sunglasses and, you know, fat, black women's sweating. I don't know. I just love that song. That's why it reminds me of Taylor, but no, I'm just kidding. So, my next song is... It's actually popular now, but it's not even really popular now, because it is a very young singer. He's 19. And he plays a ukulele, which... You gotta love a kid that plays a ukulele. I mean, come on. So, this song is... I believe the group is called Never Say Never, and the album is Me and My Yook, and it's about... This is 19-year-old kid who sings and plays a ukulele, but don't turn it off. Give it a chance, because it's actually really, really good. And it's, again, it's just a song that makes you happy when you hear it, and I don't know why, and it's called Trouble, which, again, describes Taylor and Olive. But, anyways, here's a song. I am in trouble. I'm an addict, so I'm addicted to this girl. She's got my heart tied in a knot, and my stomach in a world, but even worse, I can't stop calling her. She's all I want more. I mean, damn. What's not to absorb? I've been playing too much games, so I've been listening to jazz. I call so many times, I swear she's going mad, and I'd sell you her. We'll be the death of us, I swear, I swear In O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O ♪ In O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, O, I'm in trouble, I'm so cliche, see that word just wears me out, makes me feel like just another boy, to laugh and joke about, but even worse, I can't stop calling her, I love to hear that voice, and honestly, I'm left with no choice. So my next song is um well how can I say this delicately? It reminds me of Tank and I enjoying one another for all these years but again there's a little... God damn it! Hold on I have to call you back I'm sorry. What's my mother-in-law? Hooray! So yes this song is very much about you know Tank and I enjoying one another after you know almost 19 years of being married but it really doesn't describe our relationship it just I think it's a hot song and you know and again it reminds me of Taylor because Taylor and I have sang this actually to Bobaloo over gay days.
