For early internet movie fans there was no bigger source for movie news and rumors than Aint It Cool News. Started by Austin film fanatic Harry Knowles in the late 90s and lasting for over 20 years, the heyday of the website saw them involved with and influencing everything from Peter Jackson's 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy to the launch of the Alamo Drafthouse to the downfall of Joel Schumacher's 'Batman and Robin' and the rise of the MCU and The Dark Knight. But the website and its webmaster were not without major controversy. Was Aint It Cool News and its toxic Talkback community the beginnings of today's internet hate culture? I'm joined by 'Downlow.d: The Rise and Fall of Harry Knowles' podcast host Joe Scott to discuss these questions and more!!
