We're almost to episode 400 There's gonna be a one-week delay. So as a thank you and to kind of fill your ears until then I'm putting out a couple things on The feed first up four panel discussions that occurred this past Halloween at Stanley's Kamikaze expo They were awesome. The fans were great and I love that convention and The fine folks at Stanley's Kamikaze have made these available for you guys to listen to this first one It's me and co-creator of Deadpool Rob Liefeld This is back in Halloween weekend, so we're anticipating a big box office release for Deadpool and building the anticipation Obviously Deadpool came out crushed a bunch of records. You all saw it So here's our conversation in front of the fans for you to enjoy and there'll be a couple more of these things on the feed coming up Enjoy Rob Liefeld and I talking Deadpool We did this panel last year. We did this panel last year and Rob was just like hey, you want me to just rock it All right, let's just rock it and he just goes off. So I'm just gonna let Rob rock it No, wait, you remember that though you came at you like let me tell you the Rob Liefeld. Sorry. I have nervous energy I have nervous energy. I love it. I think that's what we love about your work with Stanley Kamikaze. Thanks for having me I love this show last year was my first show. I had to get back here. Thank you so much. You guys are awesome Yes, give yourself a hand. Yes, so what you've been up to in the last year. Oh the last year. I don't know man Just trying to stay busy. This is my 19th show of 2015. I went on the road I was only 52 weeks brother. I know I did a lot of comic conventions So I saw a lot of cool cool fans. You went to Hawaii or do you want to Hawaii? I went to Wisconsin in the snow. I went to a blizzard in Cleveland I mean you never know when you sign up. You just don't know. Did you just go to? Like did you just become a comic book creator to go to cool places? No, my family will tell you I hate traveling. I don't generally go out of a 20 minute radius I know that's really boring to you, but I don't go so this year was a big deal like I'm like, I won't see you family So there's I'm gonna let you talk about like the comic book work because I was so fascinated by it When you went off and just told me your history about like how 19 you got 19 you went into it and this and that But I just want to know if you've traveled to one place. Yes The Deadpool film set in Vancouver. Okay, the question was have I been to the Deadpool film set? Of course, I've been to the Deadpool film set. Come on. Are you guys looking forward to this movie now? I love all of you, but some of you are way too young to go to this movie So if you went you were already warned No, not all of my kids will be going, but that's partially why it's gonna be so awesome Because you're gonna get a movie like none. You've ever seen before I love all the Marvel films I think they're fantastic. I go see all the multiple times My my family has a rat a weird schedule So I'll see it with my two youngest then I'll go with my oldest and my wife will see it the Wednesday after it comes back Comes out, but I am telling you deadpool is different and by different I mean it's awesome and you are gonna love it and those Deadpool has always been championed by you guys. I Remind people in early 2000 Marvel took the clothes off Deadpool Raise your hand if you remember that he he became agent X And I said this is not gonna last and because of you guys. Thank you They killed that fast people rejected that You guys like Deadpool with his katanas with his costume with his snarky attitude. So Everybody on the film set did it upright. I can't wait and I actually have another question with the film set. We just saw Stan Leon stage. Sure. He makes a cameo Yes, all of his movies. Yes. Was there a cameo? Here's what I can tell you at Hall H in San Diego. Some of you guys go to San Diego they showed the footage of the Deadpool movie for the first time and People from Fox had told me before I went out. They said you're gonna like this footage There's something special in here for you. And I'm like, oh no like I was out because normally I won't look back here I don't like seeing myself on camera But during the Sanio comic-con they showed footage with Stan and with myself. So Hopefully that makes it the final film and I'll tell you why there is a guy I love in the comic book business, and he is the coolest guy and I won't say his name But he filmed a cameo for a movie that he created A couple years back and he said Rob I went everywhere and I told everyone Watch out for my cameo. I'm gonna be in it and it came out and they got me. So I Believe I'm in it when I see it, you know seven o'clock When does it come out February 12? I've bought my ticket yet, so I gotta buy him. Yeah, I mean you're going, right? I'm absolutely going yes I mean I'm I love the superhero movies. Yeah, but they do after a while they start to seem like this is different I want something different. Yeah, my favorite Marvel movies are Guardians and man. I like the weird stuff I want the weird stuff. I bring in the weird stuff. It's weird and okay I don't know if you guys like violence. Let me tell you about little Robbie Lifield little Robbie Lifield was the son of a Baptist minister why am I telling you this because We give kids the Old Testament and the Old Testament is all sorts of jacked up and violent and as a kid I was like who is this guy bashing in these guys skulls with a bone and if you want to read that story that's Samson by the way But there's some violent stuff in there So I got into comics to draw people cutting other people's limbs off And I know guys like Frank Miller did the same thing because there's limbs coming off in all his books But you haven't seen people's heads explode in Captain America But you're gonna see them explode and then you're gonna laugh at what he says next because I'm telling you Ryan is super Ryan is Deadpool. I don't think he wants that out there, but like if you spend five minutes with him you're like You are Deadpool. He's got a wicked sense of humor And he's physically obviously perfect when you stand next to him you feel bad You're like why did God give you a 12 pack, you know, so no, he's perfect. He's perfect and I cannot tell you next We're to a jeans bottle at some point. Oh, yeah, come on now. Oh, yeah, a jeans model. We're gonna call it a jeans bottle. That's not true No, I wasn't on the cover of entertainment with me with my glistening ten pack like Ryan was But he is a physical specimen but more than that Ryan has produced the movie Tim Miller You're gonna talk about another Miller next year. It's gonna be a two-miller comic book industry because Tim Miller is gonna be on everybody's Lips he directed Deadpool. He is phenomenal the guys who wrote the movie Rhett Reese and Paul Warnock are geniuses it is unheard of to have one screenplay survive seven years and there's There was never any other writers brought in because their screenplay was that good Which is why the creative people championed it and finally there was just one guy won't see his name But he was the head of Fox and he was the guy that was not letting Deadpool get made and he was smitten and they Removed him from Fox and we should all rejoice every day that I can't say his name is gone Because that's why then they got sensible people who said hey, you know what Deadpool has a lot of fans And I'm like what have we been telling you for a decade? So now I think you guys are gonna really enjoy it and it's gonna open the door for a lot more stuff that you like and that's all that I can say Yay 90s whoo is the bit this is like the easiest moderator gig cuz like poke them and then he goes crazy I'm sure I know it's awesome. No, I love it Talk a little bit about I saw this on Facebook because we were talking about Frank Miller and Dark Knight 3 You stood up for Frank because people were critical of that the pieces of artwork that were coming out And it's like it's really unfair and you've been I have you've been a recipient of some Everybody's to not everybody has thick skin. I'm gonna tell you right now Comics and politics and sports are all the same you got to have thick skin because you're putting yourself out there You're putting your drawings out there and not everybody has thick skin I wish some of my kids had the thick skin that I do and you go. Oh, you didn't get dad's thick skin This is gonna be harder than I thought But you know in the world we live in like I'll tell you I go to the Lakers games and I sit on the third row That's right brother rock that Kobe Jersey and I talked trash to Chris Weber and I talked trash to Chris Weber so bad in 2002 He stood up and he shook his fist at me and I laughed at him like you're not gonna touch me And I kept trash talking to him like you know a gazillion air and you're also 10 feet tall and I'm little Robbie And I hate you and I love that you're losing and you cannot be in this comic's business It's just people will take your drawing and go oh this guy sucks. I can do better. That's not true Hey, they're gonna say it. I don't mean it like cut down your Sacramento fan No, but all I'm saying is though I think you can yell at Chris Weber because he's never defended a day in his life I mean the thing is I hate LeBron not because he didn't anything wrong to me But because for a while there he was threatening Kobe's legacy and I would trash talk him But I don't dislike him but LeBron has fixed in he knows how to take it in this business and Frank Miller is The single biggest after Stanley influence on this business period and the story done You you cannot win that argument. He changed comics. He changed Batman Sin City 300 he introduced Electra. He thrilled me as a kid and so he's a little older He's drawn a little differently and people started to pick on him And there's a there's a time in a place to just raise your hand and say that's not okay I will stand up for him and when you do it, you never know what kind of crap is gonna get piled on you But uh people rose up, you know, so that was nice You actually take pride in it when people see you as a lightning rod for this kind of stuff I just you can make a difference. You can say that's not cool. No, I mean you're picking on somebody You're basically a keyboard cowboy, you know, I mean, it's like it's never gonna come back to you You weren't alive when Frank Miller did Daredevil and you weren't alive when Dark Knight one came out like don't be talking trash And those are the same people who are loving Daredevil on Netflix, which wouldn't exist without Frank Miller Oh my my poor wife we watch Netflix and we went out to dinner We watch we binge watched it and then she's like stop telling me about Electra Oh my god Because I was like and then joy and then and then I think she's like you're too amped up on Frank Miller But people don't understand that entire Netflix show is Frank Miller So, I mean, it's a I tell people all the time we built this city all those guys that were just here before me Stan and Jim and Todd and Mark it's our drawings and stories that Hollywood is making So we should take pride in that the power of the comic creator and I've learned I've seen the directors the producers coming up now They were fans in 1992 1989 they were 15 years old so it's cool. They get the material they love the material in 1992 when young blood sold a million copies I had a producer who was like 65 years old called me and I was 23 and he's like I don't know why this is a cool comic but people tell me it's cool and we should make a movie and I'm like no We shouldn't you're like that's a bad idea and I walked out and my agent was like, but he wants to make a movie I go he doesn't get this at all somebody told him it was hot So, you know, we got a we got to protect our stuff. So we're gonna get that bad rock movie No, not soon But ask me about John profit soon. Okay, John profit. Yeah, that'd be awesome. Yeah, yeah And some young blood we're gonna see some of that. I don't know you'll probably see cable before you see young blood true story Do we love cable? I mean come on? I tell people you don't get dead bull without cable cable had to work before I was allowed to give you dead bull It's like okay. This one work will give you more But the truth of the matter is they you know the Fox ninjas I'm told they're watching me all times and I believe it and they're like life out of you say one thing We'll get you so I'm really good I don't say anything but I was told not to you know ever mention anything and then the Deadpool trailer comes out And Tim Miller does a bunch of interviews and he starts talking about oh, yeah, I think we're doing cable We're gonna put what cable and I'm like we can talk about cable and then Simon Kinberg the producer He's like, oh, yeah, you know, we're we're gonna be interesting I'm like so we're talking about cable now, but I'm still too scared to do anything but repeat what they say because I'm scared You know what's interesting about Deadpool. I think and then when it's coming out is we our culture's obsessed with the gun issue right now like I mean he is Gonna come out. He's gonna be violent. Do you see Deadpool's release of this? Okay, I did 19 shit rod for that stuff I did 19 shows this year. I'm gonna tell you the truth I saw a lot of moms and a lot of moms and you're here today and your kids right there. You're awesome You're dressed as Deadpool now your mom. Look at cool mom. She didn't look like the mom that came up to me I think in Cleveland and said You've ruined my son's life Son is eight maybe eight. I got 13 11 and 15. So I know ages. He was about eight years old and he's sitting there And he's dressed like Deadpool. He's got the swords He's got the plastic gun and she goes you you've ruined my son's life He can't see Deadpool and I'm like, yeah, it's all rated. He shouldn't be seeing Deadpool shake. Well, why'd you do that? And I'm like Man, I'm gonna come I'm I'm gonna come straight with you. He is not a superhero. Your son is not dressed as a superhero He is not a do-gooder. This is not a boy scout. He is a mercenary that kills people for a living So Billy is dressed like an assassin and you're telling me why he can't go see the movie about the assassin There's a disconnect here lady. Um, and she harumped me And walked away and I don't think Billy probably wore that Deadpool suit ever again. Sorry, Billy Billy watches his mom with it on fire Billy's cutting himself right now, and I'm his he's gonna get more issues from that censorship He's gonna come after me like Michael Myers got to get a Halloween thing in there He's gonna grow up and hunt me down and I'm toast. So Rob, let's open it up to some audience questions Oh, yeah, I love audience. Can we get a mic out here? I don't know how it works, but you there's a microphone back there If you guys can swarm the woman in the bright right here right here. He's wearing a Batman cap turn around There's a microphone right behind here. She's coming Flash the bat signal all right here. We go with the popularity of Deadpool now Are we ever to most likely ever see a Deadpool animated series? Oh, wouldn't that be great? I think you're gonna see a lot of Deadpool. Have you been to Hot Topic lately? We in my family would call it the Deadpool store. Hey, we are gonna go to the Deadpool store because you're walking you go Hey, it's a new Deadpool. There's ten new double-heads. There's a watch. There's a wallet. There's ten ties There's all the socks and my wife is crazy. She comes up with a pie Can we get this? I'm like oh crap the wallet is a lot lighter when we go to the Deadpool store So we don't go as much, but an animated series would be great. It would have to be on like Netflix So anybody else right here buddy, I can hear you I wouldn't like to redo a Deadpool issue I think they're all great and the thing is my okay. I'm gonna tell you my nephew is here His name's Caden and we were fishing two years ago. I tell this story on the road So I should tell him in front of him. I think he's a 1213 now So he was probably 10/11 and we were fishing up at a lake that we go as a family And he told me like Deadpool and I said hey Caden what so what dead will be like? And he said I like the the Deadpool with Moby Dick and I go That's cool. That's cool. That exists, right? And what do you do complain like? Oh, sorry, you know You love Deadpool. I'm not gonna come at you because what I tell you Marvel has a Deadpool for everybody They have Deadpool kills the universe Deadpool versus Deadpool Deadpool with Moby Dick Deadpool Who's the guy with the apple on his head and they shot it off Edison is it Thomas Edison? No, we don't want the gravity or what they've got like Deadpool with that guy It's like it's like they did Deadpool classics illustrated And then you got the like I said that the friendly bobblehead of the murderer, you know, so I mean it's like it's awesome They have co-opted poodles to Marvel They've put him everywhere. So you got hot, you know You got warm snuggly Deadpool, and then you got, you know, the Deadpool you're gonna get with Ryan Reynolds So and they and they're all awesome. So I mean all you want is X-Men origins. What a Deadpool? Even the X-Men or hey without that we don't get to this one So you have to have perspective, but here's the thing as an artist you just want to see your work appreciated But I might this week have a new Marvel book being announced that should excite you So watch the Internet's and I say the Internet's wrong. Is that all you can say? That's all I can say that's all I can say and it might have cameos from some of the other Marvel creations Maybe I created everybody in the book you never know When you see the cover I dare you to find a character that I didn't create that's pretty cool Like I said 28 years in the business guys I appreciate you so much I love comic books and I love the fact that I still get to do comic books And now all this stuff is coming to life Deadpool. You have a question. I Can't hear you Yeah, we know So here's the deal you know that your first video game was very or rated And now they're that they're figuring now That's another story I won't tell you about when we went to GameStop to get the Deadpool game and they wouldn't sell it to me Because they thought it would upset my children and my youngest son said my dad created it But we just saw in the game Thank you, and then like you did not and I'm like can we do a Google search? I'll stand right here. My face will match what's coming up on your Internet go now But that game I think was before it's time and now they're re-issuing it for the latest platforms So come on Deadpool. Don't get greedy. Yeah, they're re-releasing the Deadpool for the PS3 or PS4 We have all of them my kids are gamers I'm not my kid was able to play till the third level and then my wife walked in Right after cable was introduced and when Deadpool's kind of reaching for the girl And I'll just love it to be reaching for the girl and we had to turn it off And we never played it again which sucked but the first three levels were awesome So who's got a question over here? Anybody have a question? All right here buddy you you Yes, I mean like you took a glimpse of the video game, right? Yeah, what do you think about three levels? What do you think about Nolan North's voice acting? He's great people don't ask me to choose. There's a guy who came up to me and he said who do you think's better? Nolan North and Ryan Reynolds Met Ryan Reynolds hung out with Ryan Reynolds Ryan Reynolds had me in my his movie Like Nolan North didn't know him. I said I like Ryan Reynolds. He's like you suck. Oh So I don't choose anymore. They're both great. Nolan North is a great voice. Ryan is an awesome Deadpool That's a great gorgon. Dude. I just saw you you look awesome When I was a kid he was my favorite in human that is my favorite in human. I've never seen him in cosplay I've never seen that either. That's awesome. We've been telling adventures ever since. Is there anybody else who has a question or are we so bored? Okay, Captain America. This has to be the last question. I had a question What inspired you most to make Deadpool was? Half-hour answer that's a half-hour answer Boba Fett spider-man violence the Bible honestly honestly I Need to draw something fast so I needed a mask that was quick and look right there. Look at those dead bulls a kid can draw that face and So there's so much. It's so long, but I'll tell you what I tell people. It's on YouTube Rob. I felt tells you It's it's 30 minutes long because I like to put in all the details Well, they're gonna kick me off the stage. Yeah, and for those keeping track Isaac Newton was the apple guy Isaac Newton Deadpool and Isaac Newton. There's that it took me a while, but good man Amen, that's why I didn't endorse your Edison. I knew that was wrong. Don't endorse. I knew it was wrong But listen Rob dude. Thank you. Thank you. We're all excited. Thank you. Kamikaze. Thank you very much February 12th, dude The movie we never thought we're gonna see it. We're gonna see it. How are hey guys help us break some records Help us break records for a Valentine's Day weekend opening bring your date. Just don't bring your five-year-old Maybe make a kid, but all right. Thank you very much You a You [BLANK_AUDIO]
