If you're going to be a giant killer, giant killers are disciplined. If you're going to kill a giant, you've got to get up early. David got up early the day he killed Goliath. Come on, you're not going to kill your giants laying in bed, hitting the snooze button. [ Cheers and applause ] Get up early in the morning and take care of the hard task. Get them out of the way first. Don't let some job you have to do threaten you all day and make you dread the day. Be proactive. Don't procrastinate. To decide to delay is to decide to deny. David decided he had to do something against this problem right then and there. Nothing will happen until you face that giant. So if you want to be victorious, you better take the fight to the enemy. And you have to discipline yourself and he rose up early. Giant killers get up early. I don't mean you got to get up at the crack of dawn, but I do mean you put God first in your day and in your life. It takes discipline to kill giants. Get out of the bed and read the Bible. Start the day off with the word of God and in prayer. And you see, getting in the word and getting on your knees and seeking the mind of God is a proven way to deal with any goliath that comes into your life. If I want to slay, I've got to pray. Prayer is necessary because when I give it to God, God can change things. God can help us slay the giants. Remind yourself that the battle is the Lord's. It's not just your battle. It's not just up to you. It's not just your ability. In all of life's battles, listen. It's the Lord's battle. Don't think you are fighting alone. The battle belongs to the Lord. See, measure the giants you face against the greatness of your God. Don't measure against yourself. We're not enough. Of course, we're not enough. So I want to put God into the equation. It's not really a contest between the giant and me. It's a contest between the giant and the Lord. And though I wouldn't stand a chance against the giant, he doesn't stand a chance against the Lord. All giants seem larger than they really are. You think you'll not be able to get control over whatever that giant is. It seems larger than it really is. It's not larger than our God. It's not larger than your Savior. Remember these five words. The battle is the Lord's. The battle is the Lord's. There is no giant so great that he is not greater still. And yes, your giant may be big, but Jesus is bigger. I am not minimizing the giant in your life. It is big, but Jesus is bigger. Jesus is bigger. And this is why Luke 18 tells us that what is impossible for people is possible with God, it may feel impossible for you to take down your giant. And you know what? You're right. Way from the giant for too long. It's time to run toward the giant. When's the last time you ran toward your giant? When's the last time you ran toward your problem? When's the last time you said, "You know what? Goliath of anxiety, you're not going to get me." Goliath of despair, you're not going to get me. Goliath of the worst-case scenario, I'm not going to assume that. I'm going to trust in the armies of the living God. And consequently, you run in the direction with faith, with courage, because you have listened to the voice of God. How long since you ran toward your challenge? Rush your giant with a God-saturated soul and God's word in your mouth. Giant of divorce, you are not entering my home. Giant of depression, it may take me a while, but you will not conquer me. Giant of alcohol, giant of bigotry, you're going down. How long since you loaded your sling and took a swing at your giant? Goliath was a dead man. When we read in verse 40, the David ran towards Goliath. At that moment, he started towards Goliath. He was dead meat already. Faith is not talking about the giant. Faith is taking the first step towards the giant. To defeat your giant, you're going to have to fight. It's going to be tough. Fight anyway. It might be ugly. Fight anyway. It might be difficult. That giant stands between you and your purpose. That giant stands between you and your destiny. That giant stands between you and your God-given potential. Fight. What I want to say to you is your future is on the other side of the giant that you are afraid to face. Don't let your giant hide your future. Come on, just because he hasn't fallen yet doesn't mean he won't in Jesus' name. If you'll get up, you'll find out it's not as bad as you thought it was, because the God in you is bigger than the giant in him. But as long as you stay down, the enemy looks bigger than you are. You have to get up. Giant killers get up. When you and I are facing challenges in life and some big Goliath faces us, something that we have a hard time with, sometimes we never decide what we're going to do it.
