This week I'm reading from Ronald Kinsella's book 'Illusions: Smoke and Mirrors Of The UFO/ET/Paranormal Enigma'.
In this book, Ronald Kinsella questions the validity of a number of alien, UFO and cryptid reports which range from the unusual, to the very bizarre, throughout the world. This interrogation is not based on their authenticity, rather, questioning a much darker aspect to their origins and of a seemingly fragmented phenomena.
Is it just possible we have been duped by something else? Something far more sinister? Is it at all feasible to suggest that many of the ghosts, cryptids, and alien encounters, reported by hundreds of thousands of people throughout time, have been manifested by a Force that is as cunning as it is ingenious? Has it also employed its tactics through the likes of Scrying, CE-5 Initiatives, along with the Ouija Board? And is ‘Skin Walker Ranch,’ – a hotspot for paranormal activity – being used as its playground, knowing that interest of it has certainly arisen?
Are we looking at a thing which is as bizarre as the very cosmos itself, and of which understands us and our history to the point of disbelief?
Ronald attests that these are merely ideas, and that the reasons concluded certainly do sway strongly towards anonimous and calculated addition to planet Earth. He wagers that his own encounters, perhaps like many, have been instigated by a clever trickster, and of which selects people for a reason he contemplates within the very pages of this book.

That's 20% off your first order at american-giant.com, code staple20. This is episode 42 of UFO Encounters. This week I'm reading from Ronald Kinsella's book, Illusions, Smoke and Mirrors of the UFO, ET Paranormal Enigma. When I've guests on my podcast, I read their books to work out questions for the episodes. And when I'm reading these books, I always find such fascinating information that never makes it into the podcast. In here, I get a chance to give you a peek into the book. I've put a link to the book in the show notes, and I did seek permission to record the extract from the book, and the author kindly said yes. And so if you enjoy this podcast, please leave a review, and be sure to subscribe. So I'm going to read from chapter 8, which is titled The Crash of Controversy. And this is what Ronald has written. Rather like the dispute of John F. Kennedy's assassination in Dallas, Texas, 1963, to the very moon landing of 1969, the views of endless witnesses present at the time are washed into obscurity by the very thing which causes controversy, that of varied belief. The people present may swear blind to their declarations, on a release stating the obvious, to consequently be doubted by others who are absent. Sadly, those opinions and conclusions eventually promote ambiguity, the likes of which generate countless arguments to come. However, what is very clear is that something highly unusual did indeed crash back at Roswell, and of which caused a whir of activity from the military. Some say lightning was the cause for the source's demise, whereas others suggest a possible malfunction. I doubt whether a weather balloon, or secret test vehicle for that matter, would have generated such a stir. And, upon this rally, some very strange announcements were made, the likes of which certainly raised eyebrows, along with suspicion, as far as denial is concerned. To appreciate the enormity of this puzzling case, we must first go back to July 1947, where a rancher by the name of Mac Brazel, a foreman of a ranch located 30 miles southeast of Corona, New Mexico, happened upon a mass of silvery debris, scattered across the plains of the grazing grounds in Lincoln County. The extent of this wreck was apparently so vast, he wondered just how it was, he was able to clear it up so swiftly, estimating an extremely lengthy process. What's unusual is that the grazing sheep on the grounds wouldn't approach or cross it. One can only assume that Mac perhaps wondered whether something unusual had crashed in the vicinity overnight, or perhaps exploded above the ranch. I would imagine his thoughts spanned to that of a light aircraft, military hardware, or even a balloon at the time. However, it has purported that, upon inspection, Mac discovered the material was composed of a very bizarre tinfoil-like structure, with bits of thin beams scattered about it. This substance, when handled and bent, would repeatedly reshape, and of which apparently couldn't be dented, torn, or burnt either. To wear an outside help suggested the very extent of this puzzling wreckage. Mac's shelter had no running water, no electricity or telephone. He would have to drive out for help, and so settled on seeking the Chavez County sheriff, George Wilcox, possibly July 6th, for assistance. Upon meeting him, the sheriff told him that the military would be the best option to take, and so called the Roswell Army airfield, where Major Jesse Marcel and Captain Sheridan Cather arrived to assist with the clean-up operation. No doubt curious as to what had actually crashed there. The two military officials spent the night at Mac's shelter, before beginning their recovery in the morning. They filled a truckload of the strange metal first, before driving it back to the Carswell Army Air Force Base in fort for examination. This was around July 8th. This is where it gets very bizarre, and the testimony is clear-cut as far as admission is concerned, whether it be mistaken or otherwise. After analysis, Colonel William Blanchard, the commanding officer at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, issued a statement that a flying disk had been recovered within Roswell, and with the help of a rancher and sheriff. This whipped up unprecedented excitement, globally arresting the world with the idea that an interstellar spaceship from the cosmos had crash-landed on Earth, and not just on Earth, but upon American soil. And this is the press release. The many rumours regarding the flying disk became a reality yesterday, when the intelligence office of the 509th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force, Roswell Army Airfield, was forged enough to gain possession of a disk through the cooperation of one of the local ranchers and the sheriff's office at Chavez County. Unsurprisingly, the county was besieged with telephone calls, with press frantically trying to grasp the handles of this extraordinary admission, while the statement was reviewed to be swiftly corrected, altered by none other than Colonel William's boss, Brigadier General Roger Raimi, and during a press conference held to clarify the assumed misunderstanding. In light of this, the thing that did crash, Brigadier General Raimi affirmed, was merely a weather observation balloon, and nothing more. To strengthen this, they captured a number of photographs, one depicting Major Jesse Marcel holding up the remnants of that very thing, to stem the confusion of Colonel William Blanchard's apparent oversight, and to mute the entire incident. This, in itself, lends enormous, and I mean enormous, skepticism, in terms of a blatant cover-up, and I'm not directing the narrative simply to prove a point here. In reality, I cannot say whether a ship crash landed or not, though I am utterly staggered to believe that trained men, and within the armed forces, could so swiftly mistake the remnants of a common observation weather balloon for the vestiges of a flying saucer. This part is factual and whole, apart from what actually crashed there. We now move on to other testimonies thereafter, with assumed remnants of a disk being discovered by low-flying aircraft, purporting to be the remnants of either a collision, the result of a skip prior to downing, or, as Thomas J. Carey and Ronald R. Schmidt theorise, in their most excellent book, Roswell, the ultimate cold case, a mid-air explosion. This book is thorough, and a must-read for those interested in the testimony of this very case. The incident becomes even more bizarre. Later, and after General Raimi's official and corrected announcement had been splashed across the world headlines, it is believed that the debris discovered back at Mac Brazel's ranch was only a portion of an assumed flying saucer tragedy, rest of which, were discovered having slammed into a hillock some thirty to thirty-five miles southeast of Lincoln County and within Foster Ranch. The remnants of the ship were believed to have been around the size of a small car, conflicting testimonies rage from here, and that a number of bodies, including one that had apparently survived impact, were amongst the wreckage. This gave rise to the consideration of a hapless mid-air collision, with two discs perhaps striking one another and rebounding to their doom, until it perhaps became clear this wasn't entirely the case. It's possible, but who can say for sure? Certainly Thomas J. Carey and Donald R. Schmidt's book re-evaluates this point rather aptly, offering a feasible outcome of the ship's very own downfall. They propose an escape pod dislodged from the main craft prior to a supposed malfunction or accident, and of which highlighted the two crash scenes. So the misunderstanding of some researchers postulating that there might well have been an aerial catastrophe in that respect could be forgiven, contemplating the logical conclusions these top authors have reached. Personally, and looking at past theories, I would have agreed that it knows dived within Brazel's ranch at a terrific speed, evidently out of control, to be catapulted across the plains, forcefully traversing the 30 or so miles before colliding into a hillock. That, or Carey and Schmidt's conclusion, which I feel is extremely appropriate. You need to read their book to grasp this and more, as I fleetingly cover a number of cases to eventually emphasize a theory I've personally established. This second site is believed to have also been commandeered by the military, which would be of no surprise, and a film that had the materials and alleged bodies shipped off to a secure location where analysis could be performed. The details involved are too numerous and vague to mention here, suffice to say, Roswell, the ultimate cold case, is a must for those wishing to pursue the story in a coherent, detailed, and fully researched manner. As for the aliens themselves, they are described as being little greyish men, perhaps roughly four feet tall, with large heads and slanted black eyes. They wore silvery uniforms, though it is understood a number of them were badly decomposed from impact to the time of discovery. It's also understood the second region, that of the final resting place of the saucer, was severely scorched.
