How dangerous is it to unwrap a burger at 40 miles per hour? More so than you think. In a little over two seconds, your car can travel slightly more than 117 feet, which is the same length as 20 bicycles. Anything that distracts you while driving is dangerous. That's why driving while texting can be deadly, too. So put it down. It can wait. Don't drive distracted. Shift into safe. A message from the Colorado Department of Transportation. And we are back about to start with your telephone calls 808489222. But first, we have a guest, Congressman Michael Cloud from Texas, the 27th District Congressman. Is that correct? Yes, 27th District of Texas, Coastal, Texas. Well, fantastic. And thank you. So day two over, Congressman, how is the convention going? Well, it's awesome. It's so great to see so many people from all over the country coming together willing to work. And really, that's what this nation is all about being a nation of, by, and for the people. Understanding that we have a responsibility to make sure this nation is what it's supposed to be. And then to see people coming here inspired, hopeful. Certainly, what's happened over the weekend is, I guess, given a new sense of purpose even, intuitive, it feels like. And it's refreshing to be here. So, Congressman, a few things I want to talk to you about. One, I thank you for trying to end DEI. Number one, am I understanding that you worked with the Vice President now? Well, the Senator, J.D. Vance on that, is that correct? Yes, exactly. As you know, the identical bill has to pass the House and Senate. One of the ways you can kind of expedite that process is to introduce them at the same time in the House and the Senate. And so we have the dismantle DEI bill. He has the Senate version. I have the House version of it. They're companion bills that we've been working through. And as you mentioned, it's a full-throated effort to go through the federal government and get rid of this CRT that rearsets that is DEI in our government, which we know, is not what it sounds like. You take three words, you throw them together, and then they put this leftist, Marxist ideology behind it. And then try to force feed it through our governments, through contracting, through grants, through hiring practices in our federal government. And so we're working to really get our government back to where competent people are serving the American people. Well, Congressman Cloud of Texas, you worked with Mr. Vance. What can you tell us about him? Folks, the national audience that don't know much about him. He's now number two on the ticket. What can you tell us? Oh, well, he's smart. He's a hard worker. Three words that always come to mind when I think of him is competent, capable, and full of courage. And at a convention like this, you're coming together, you're talking about the big ideas that separate the ideologies, us understanding that our rights are a gift from God, not a grant from government, understanding the role of a constitution that keeps the government in check so that people can be free and have liberty and pursue their dreams as opposed to this government intervening even within the family structure and these kind of things. So you talk about these big ideas, but those big ideas only matter if you have the people who have the courage to work, to make those ideas a reality. And certainly we have that in President Trump. I believe he saw that in JD Vance as well. And certainly he's someone who has that character, that competency, that the courage it takes to make sure that we do what we need to do to restore this nation. And we are chatting with Congressman Michael Cloud of Texas. Congressman, just two or three more minutes of your time. A lot of people waiting to speak to you. One, there is word that First Lady Jill Biden pushed for the hire of the Secret Service, DEI. - Yeah. - And have you heard anything about that? And what do you make of what happened over the weekend? - I have heard that. And of course the first thing you think of when we all begin to see what was, someone take a shot at the former president and we would say the future president of the United States, man, you just think of so many things. The personal impact on his family, of course, shouldn't be overlooked. But what it would mean for my kids and what it would mean generationally for the United States and the place that America has on the world stage and being that bright beacon of hope and liberty for the world. It's, for me, I look at that and think that's an only God moment right there. Where you just, and I think it's given even President Trump, not that he needed more vigor or focus, but I think it's given him even more so just knowing that you are here for such a time as this, a new renewed clarity going into this. But it's very concerning, as you mentioned, that first of all, Jill Biden would be weighing in on who the hires and fires aren't. Nobody elected her, but the fact that we're making hires on DEI on such critical, very critical, we want the best of the best of the best of the best, protecting our President and our former Presidents. And to know that, you know, we've all seen the videos one individual like couldn't even holster their firearm. You know, and, you know, it's just, it's so many things that are troubling that we're gonna be digging into. I'm on the Oversight Committee, first day back in D.C. We will be having a committee hearing on it. We were supposed to get a briefing already. DHS is already beginning to obfuscate and kind of obscure that process. So we have a number of things that are concerning there, certainly coming from a department headed by Alejandro Mayorkas that has done everything he can to make sure that this nation is not secure. And so we got a lot to dig into. - I see Congressman, I close with this. Where can I get me a nice tax? - The Texas delegation hats, yes. These are world renowned, I'm sure, and always a hot item here at the convention. - Is that officially called a cowboy hat? - Yeah, I would think so. I think this qualifies, you know. So you'll see the whole Texas delegation, of course, out on the floor, showing everybody what America should look like. - Well, Congressman Michael Cloud of Texas 27th District. Thank you so much for joining us. And thank you on the effort for trying to get rid of DEI. We need standards, not pushing people because of gender or race. It's disgusting. Thank you, Congressman. - Thank you, and God bless you.
