A 35 Mike Evans Memphis morning show, a special edition of pop talk this morning. That's right. Good morning. Good morning. We have in the building, none other than the Curtis Givens. I'm just a new man here. I'm in the building. Entrepreneur Mughal. You're a mughal. You've been in this game. How long Curtis? 28 years. 28 years. 28. Wow. And how long have you been doing the all white? 23. 23. Yes. But even before then, man, you know, Mike where you just tell me about what kind of kid you were. You hustle man. You said you were just cutting yards as a kid, man. I was hustle. I started taking care of myself at 13. Yeah. Anybody that grew old me can verify that I was 13. I started cutting hair. And I had a long service when I was 15 years old. I remember that. I remember that. I was 15. And then at 18, I had people. I had three confidence about the age of 18. You had the beepers. I had the beepers shot. You sure did. Wow. Wow. The same now. Wow. And what do you think you can attribute to your longevity in the game? Almost 30 years. The willingness to change with time, and I get stuck in your ways, you know, sometimes as you know, when you get older, especially if you think about your granddads or mamas, they get stuck in their ways and they just like that forever. Which is nothing wrong with that, but then if you want to stay relevant in this society, you got to change with time. Yeah. Hence the all-white affair festival now. Man. Switching up on the title. You got the festival I mean. Yeah. We got food trucks. Yeah. Music, dance. Mm-hmm. Now you posted, I saw a video you posted like what, 12 hours ago or so, setting up over there. Mm-hmm. The behind us. It looks like the Taj Mahal, man. You look like the Taj Mahal over a time requirement. Yeah. Yeah. We the first one, actually, we up under the canopy. Yeah. So Tom Lee, you know, I like to be the first to do things. Mm-hmm. A lot of people might not know my history, but I saw we're going to get people a history lesson. Yes. Soon about some of the things that I have done and things y'all have helped me with that they don't even know, but they say we the first one to do a event up under the canopy. Okay. Because nobody wanted to cover the floor. It's a basketball court. Mm-hmm. So in order to do it, you had to cover the floor at 20,000 square feet. Yeah, it's huge. Everybody wants to do it. But I did it. Now, I tell you, we'll post that. We didn't share that on our page. Yeah. But I saw it on your page the way things look as they beat as they're set up, man. That's incredible. That's incredible. They know that. Oh, yeah. I love it. I saw it about four or five times. This is about to come with it. Yeah. While I was supposed to be working up in here. Yeah. Yeah. So we're preparing right now. I know you've incorporated. This will be the fourth year of the power 30. Tell me about the power 30. Why did you institute this into the all-white weekend? So first of all, the power 30 takes place tomorrow at the cadre building at 9 p.m. You can get your tickets at cgentotainment.com. But really what made me do the power 30, to be honest, you know, without culture, you have a lot of negativity amongst us. Right? Mm-hmm. Right. So if anything go wrong with you, you know, anything go wrong with me, people ready to blast it, blast it. Right. Right. But they don't know the great things in the dude. The great things Mike Evans do. So what I wanted to do was highlight my black brothers and black sisters and have a positive night dedicated to them because there's a lot of people doing great things. So I thought there was a good time to shine great, good light on the black community. Yeah. Show that we have people doing positive things like our very own stormy. Yes. They shot out this stormy. Go ahead. The power 30. The five years she spent with me on the show have elevated her to those standards that she's down. Okay. Come on, stormy. Come on, stormy. Just do for it. I think that's amazing that you're highlighting Memphis because, you know, Memphis is tied to, you know, not always positive out here, you know, just not from a local level, even a global level. We were just looking at some stats the other day about Memphis and the crime rate. So I applaud you for shining the light on positivity here in Memphis and your Memphis bread. Why Memphis? Why did you stay to cultivate your brand in Memphis? Memphis has been good to me. You know, you know, people ask me that all the time, especially my buddies out of town, they ask why you still there? You can be doing more in another city, but in my mind, like it's been so good to me. I can't leave in terms of, I just can't leave. I'm loyal because people have been loyal to me. You got to think, I've been doing this thing, 28 years, right? 28. Like, when you really think about it, that's a long, long time. There it is. And, and the Lord to point goals is like people, kids now are having a good time with my stuff. And the reason why they are coming because their parents are vouching for what I do. Yeah. You know what I mean? Well, and the deal is we talked about this a little bit before we actually got started. You really, you're the celebrity, you're the who they, they want to be around, you're the person that you want to see in my estimation because I know when you're out, you get to start a treatment just based on who you are. Yeah. But, but I also say this though, man, you, you're humility, you know, about doing things. You could be, you could be that dude that like, man, you don't even want to be around him, but it's the total option. You've got all the success, all these accolades, all the things you always do. And it's like, people just gravitate to you. They want to be there because of you. You put somebody else in this event, see how many people show up next year. They're going to be the all white something without Curtis Givens. They're, quick it's, they're going to be in all white parties. But, you know, I mean that because I guarantee you that that's what people, you are, like you're your own brand, you're your own entity when it comes to this kind of thing. Well, yeah, exactly. And I thank God for what I thank the people for because they made me a brand, you know, what they support. You know, it's just like this weekend, I decided, I want to bring no celebrities and everything I almost sold out. Yeah. You know what I mean? They come in because of what we provide, exactly what we provide strictly. You probably got people that have been there, been in everyone and somebody's coming for the first time. Say they're coming for the very first time, never been there before. You got some people that ain't missed. Yeah, exactly. Ooh, that's a long time. And then you guys are people, I ain't gone, I didn't did that all my life and then next I ain't know. They showed up in their life. They showed up in their life. They showed up in their life. They showed up in their life. What can they expect? What can a party go as expect at the all-white affair this year? Well, I want to talk about this, a guy made a post under my comments, under the comments for the all-white and it showed all the sections and he was like, "Sections have killed the social engagement in my life," right? And I responded to, I never really responded to people, if you ever know this, I don't never respond to people, which there wasn't no foolishness, but I never just, you know, give my opinion because you got to be careful, but at the all-white, not only do we have sections, we got dancing areas, we got a lot of seating for the general people who don't want VIP sections, you know? Some people, they can afford it, but they just don't want it and it's fine. You know what I mean? They just want to get the correct, we got some for everybody, you know what I mean? So when he came across like that, it made it seem like it was just number VIP sections, that's not true. We got seating like for four or five hundred people, just regular seats. We're going to have umbrellas in the lawn area, if people want to get a blanket and sit down, so it's going to be some favorite battle. Yeah, he's looking for something long-aligned for Applebee's. You know what I'm looking for? Yeah, make those comments. You're looking for something like Applebee's or something like Applebee's or something like Applebee's. That's what you get, you know? Man. It's a different kind of thing. The calmly is going to be lit on Saturday. You're also going to be like, "I can't wait, I can't wait, should I say this or not?" Well, I'm going to say it. I'm going to say it. Go on, say it. Applebee's going to surprise you guys, but I got a 10-minute fireworks show going on at Applebee. Okay. Oh, that's going to be beautiful after Mississippi. After Mississippi. Maybe, I'm going to do it at nine. Okay. We got a fireworks show. Man, it's going to be good. I was going to surprise everybody. Yeah. A five to 10-minute fireworks show. We're going to enjoy, we're going to get our camera phones out, stop the music, and we're going to just enjoy and celebrate. Yeah, that gives people another reason to make sure that those iPhones are all charged up. Oh, yeah. That's going to be a nice addition. Yeah. And I see on Sunday, any given Sunday day party, tell me what we can expect with the day party. We got a vibe in love. The patio is the best patio on the state. It's a really nice patio. It's the best patio on the state. It's just a vibe. So that's like the grand finale, you know, the weekend, let everybody cool down and end the given Sunday be popping every Sunday already, and it's inside and out, inside and out event. Okay. Yup. No love Saturday. And love Saturday. Wow. You just got events on events.
