Port Sports Update. [MUSIC] Lionel Messi faced calls on Wednesday to apologize for racist chants made by Argentina's players after they won the Copa America. An Argentinian government official said Messi who is the team captain and the president of the country's soccer federation, Claudio Tapia, should apologize after a video was shared on social media, showing members of Argentina's squad singing a racist chant about French players of African heritage. It is unclear from the video if Messi participated in the chant. Midfielder Enzo Fernandez did apologize for the act, saying he was quote truly sorry for the incident. Fernandez's primarily club Chelsea said it had become disciplinary action, describing discriminatory behavior as quote, completely unacceptable. FIFA also said it was looking into the incident after the French soccer federation pledged to file a complaint with the sports world governing body, over quote, racist and discriminatory remarks. Elsewhere in soccer, England defender Lucy Braun's joined Chelsea from Barcelona on Wednesday on a two year deal. The five time Champions League winner completed her move to the Women's Super League champion after two years with Barcelona. Addressing the news on Wednesday, Braun said it's quote, a little bit surreal, knowing she's a Chelsea player and she's excited to be back in England. The 32 year old right back is one of the most successful players in the history of the women's game, winning the European Championship with England in 2022. Three Champions League titles with Leon and two more with Barcelona. She's also won eight league titles and was named FIFA Best Women's Player of the Year in 2020. Meanwhile, according to multiple reports, Milwaukee Bucks forward Chris Middleton is recovering from androscopic surgeries on both ankles this offseason. The reports adding that the surgeries were related to injuries Middleton suffered throughout the course of the season and were considered cleanups. Three time NBA All-Star sprained his left ankle in a February game against the Phoenix Suns and his right ankle was injured during Game 2 of the Bucks' first round playoff loss to the Indiana Pacers. Bucks head coach Doc Rivers spoke about Middleton on Tuesday during a broadcast for the team's Summer League game stating quote, "Get surgery in the summer and he'll be fine by the beginning of camp, which is good for us." Middleton has only appeared in 88 regular season games across the past two seasons because of a number of lingering injuries.
