Auto Parts! The Crohn's Equinox, embracing Autumn's wisdom. As the harvest moon rose over the misty hills, Hazel made her way through the gnarled apple orchard. Her weathered hands, clutched a basket filled with herbs, crystals, and a single red candle. Tonight was Mabin, the autumnal equinox, a time of balance and reflection. Hazel's bones ached with the chill of the approaching autumn, reminding her of the many years she had walked this path. She was the village's eldest witch, respected and sometimes feared for her wisdom and power. But lately, she had begun to wonder if her time as the guardian of their traditions was coming to an end. At the center of the orchard stood an ancient crab apple tree, its twisted branches heavy with fruit. This was Hazel's destination, a place of power, where the veil between worlds grew thin on nights like these. As she approached the tree, Hazel gasped. Seated on a gnarled root was a figure she had never seen before an old woman, even more ancient than herself, with skin like bark and hair like silver moonlight. "Who are you?" Hazel asked, her voice quavering slightly. The old woman smiled, her eyes twinkling with starlight. "I am she who you have served all these years, child. I am the Crohn, the dark mother, she who governs the wisdom of ages." Hazel fell to her knees, overwhelmed by the goddess's presence. "My lady," she whispered, "I am honored. But why have you come to me now?" The Crohn's laugh was like the rustle of autumn leaves. "Because you doubt, my faithful one. You fear that your time is passing, that you no longer have a place in the turning of the seasons." Hazel nodded, tears welling in her eyes. "I feel my power waning, my lady." The young ones looked to new ways, and I fear our old traditions will be lost. The goddess reached out, cupping Hazel's face in her gnarled hands. "Oh, my child. Do you not see? Your power is not waning, it is transforming." Just as the year turns from summer to autumn, so too must you embrace the changing seasons of your life. As the Crohn spoke, Hazel felt a warmth spreading through her body. Visions flashed before her eyes of herself teaching the young witches, sharing stories by the fire, fighting the coven through the dark half of the year. "You are entering your own autumn," Hazel, the goddess continued. "A time of harvest, of sharing the fruits of your wisdom." "Your power lies not in the quick magic of youth, but in the deep, nurturing magic of experience." Hazel's tears flowed freely now, but they were tears of joy and understanding. "Thank you, my lady," she whispered. "I understand now." The Crohn smiled, reaching into the folds of her cloak. She pulled out a gnarled staff, crowned with a crystal that seemed to hold the light of the stars within it. "Take this, my daughter. It is a symbol of your new role as elder and teacher. As Hazel's fingers closed around the staff, she felt a surge of power unlike anything she had ever known. It was not the wild, untamed magic of her youth, but a deep, steady current of wisdom and strength. The goddess began to fade, her form becoming one with the mists that swirled around the apple tree. Remember, Hazel, her voice echoed, in the cycle of the year, and of life, every ending is also a beginning. As the last of the mist dissipated, Hazel found herself alone in the orchard once more. But she was changed. She felt renewed, filled with purpose and power. Raising her new staff, Hazel began the mabin ritual, her voice strong and clear in the night air. As she worked, she felt the presence of the goddess all around her, and knew that she was exactly where she needed to be. In the village below, the younger witches felt a shift in the air, a resurgence of old power. They looked to the orchard, where Hazel's silhouette could be seen against the harvest moon, and knew that a new chapter in their coven's history had begun. Hazel smiled, embracing her role as the crone of her community. The wheel of the year turned on, and she with it, ready to guide her people through the dark half of the year with the wisdom of ages in her heart and the blessing of the goddess in her hands. The end. End.
