Case 13: The Bird Cage Theatre Murders

In 1882, the New York Times declared that Tombstone’s Bird Cage Theatre was the “roughest, bawdiest, and most wicked night spot between Basin Street and the Barbary Coast.”

Twenty-six deaths and one hundred and forty bullet holes later, this piece of American Wild West history seems to be packed with poltergeists, gunslingers, gamblers, prostitutes and ghostly poker players.

So, who’s haunting this spooky saloon?

One of the most infamous murders involves the “Painted Lady” Margarita, whose heart was removed from her chest with a double-edged stiletto.
