to clownfish tv this is neon i'm not here with geeky sparkles we're going to talk about video game news we're going to talk about how the end of xbox is nearer at least xbox as a console and i hate to be the guy who told you so but i told you so i told you that i don't think there's much of a future for xbox as a dedicated console now we have more evidence that microsoft seems to be pivoting away from the idea of xbox being a dedicated console so let's talk about this new listing that was on amazon yesterday i think and i have to give a huge hat tip to black's hd i did not i did not see this but it's really interesting because yesterday we're finishing up a video talking about turning a mini pc into a dedicated plug and play console using steam big picture which we which we did we actually have a video coming and i'll talk a little bit more about that later it should be coming later today honestly so the timing is amazing but yeah as part of uh amazon prime day amazon is selling a bundle a no console required xbox bundle and ign's even like is this the future of xbox and i'm going to say yeah i think it is i got all kinds of crap a couple of months ago i said that pc's have already won and the xbox will probably become a platform that you will play on a pc or a tablet or whatever it is in this case it's it's an amazon uh streaming game stick or something fire stick but that's that's probably what's going to happen and uh you know we're seeing more and more layoffs at microsoft and we're seeing you know just it's it's a huge waste of resources to create a what is essentially just a budget cut gaming pc right that you can't upgrade and then you're potentially stuck with this hardware you're also limited by this this hardware and you know software in a lot of cases if your overhead's not super expensive it's like printing money but when you're creating hardware a lot of times these manufacturers sell the consoles at a loss i know that ps2s were sold at a loss because so many knew they would make the money back on on game sales right everybody gets that uh console and they're going to buy games for that console that's how they're going to make their money back so it's it's a very uh expensive proposition to create hardware so let's let's talk about all this before you end today further a couple things please subscribe to this channel for this video we have coming uh later today but uh IGN said amazon selling a no console required xbox they've launched the xbox no console required bundle we'll take a look at that here in a bit coinciding with the recent release of the fire tv stick xbox cloud gaming app enabling xbox game pass users to stream games directly to their TVs without needing an xbox console i'm not a big fan of streaming games i mean google tried this and i thought i thought amazon did this too wasn't it luna was that what was called i don't know if it works i don't know if it works that well but the point being that you know microsoft is looking at other options other than selling consoles so here's what says it says stream xbox games no console required rez amazon listing which also mentions how it's the only streaming media player with xbox for now the new bundle coincides with the amazon's prime day event that runs through july 16th and 17th it's currently listed for 78 dollars 40 dollar savings uh microsoft's next big push into cloud streaming massively broadens the potential audience for xbox games and the xbox game pass subscription again i think the end game is to eventually just make xbox a platform an operating system or something you know and and you will just play xbox on whatever device you have and it's not going to be an actual xbox all it's needed is a compatible fire tv stick a bluetooth enabled wireless controller and an xbox game pass ultimate subscription the stream xbox games the bundle addresses exactly that providing everything a potential gamer would need to get started so now if xbox becomes a platform i'm just i'm just gonna put it out there what what is going to happen is we already have video games they're not standalone they're live service so you buy the game for 70 bucks or even 100 bucks i guess we're gonna have games that are 100 or 120 dollars and then you're you're subscribing to that game right because it's live service you got to pay every month or you have to keep buying dlc or whatever it is and the same thing will happen with the console you'll never actually own the console right you'll just have to pay for xbox every month instead of buying a 300 400 500 dollar console so i mean from a marketing perspective yeah there it's going to be like a dovey creative cloud right you're never going to buy the software in this case you'll never buy the hardware you'll just subscribe to xbox the xbox platform and play xbox quote unquote wherever you can on your tv on your phone that's what's going to happen you're going to subscribe to your console i'm telling you that's that's where they want to go with it because it's like they don't have any costs you know that they're not going to be stuck with a bunch of consoles they can't sell developers aren't going to be tied to what's possible with with old hardware they can just keep the hardware fresh on their end and just keep making newer better games as long as you know people have the bandwidth to be able to stream them and accompanying advertisement for the new streaming initiative recently sparked a bait among hardcore xbox fans the ad reminiscent of the screen movies features a woman answering the phone to an unnamed man disguising his voice i'm raising eyebrows you don't need an xbox to play xbox okay let's look at let's look at this tweet and see what the reactions are to this tweet so here's the ad um this is a game changer xbox says absolutely that's it fire you could say or that's lit rather fire you could say another xbox w um let's see what the retweets are saying few of the quotes doom eternal spotted uh what an ad you'll google stadia and apology that was that's what i thought yeah xbox is finished yeah uh xbox cloud so this was last week yeah what's the point of an xbox console anymore there isn't one there isn't one so remember no console required wiring or console selling yeah so xbox they did admit that they're not selling consoles to the level that they wanted to um i remember and it seems like forever ago all the drama around starfield and uh you know it being an xbox exclusive and xbox players being like finally we've got our we've got our big game and you know if you said anything about this game you were an awful human being and now it's just like yeah well you can just stream it whatever i don't understand how this works well how it works is it's a platform basically xbox becomes Netflix for games you know that's that's that's the thing so here here's the actual listing choose your controller color look at that wow uh xbox amazon fire tv stick 4k max with robot white core wireless controller bundle i can't leave that green one 78 bucks receive a month of xbox game pass ultimate by email with the purchase of a fire tv stick 4k max and controller bundle the only streaming media player with the xbox app bundle is everything you need to start gameplay including a fire tv stick 4k max and xbox wireless controller no console required bundle has everything you need um fire tv sticks 4k max has 16 gig of storage double that of a fire tv stick 4k why i'm assuming that they're going to save your game in the cloud Wi-Fi support stream more than million movies yeah so this will become your console and they'll start selling the other stuff from amazon because uh we do have an amazon fire tv stick and they're constantly trying to upsell you and they're constantly trying to shove lord of the rings in front of you but this is it this is the end of the end of consoles they're they're admitting it they're giving up microsoft is giving up that's that's my takeaway so i want to talk about this video we have coming probably later today where we were actually given by geekom we were given a mini pc to kick the tires on and i actually took it and formatted it to become kind of a steam machine and i've got emulators that were added kind of sideload those emulators but they can be accessed through steamed big picture mode as uh you know games outside of steam you can do non steam games in steam did you know that it's yeah it's the thing you can do and it's like a six hundred dollar system and it played pretty much everything that we threw at it we even played spiderman remastered on it we play elton ring on it i think we're playing hi-fi rush do we play hi-fi rush yeah we played hi-fi the other spiderman yeah we play spiderman on it we played uh hi-fi rush which shockingly ran at 60 frames a second on this little thing six hundred dollars and so you've got you know many pc's right now that can run pretty much everything a console can run as good in some cases better it depends on what the game is so what what is the what is the purpose of buying a console yeah i'm just saying like what is what is going to be the purpose i think going forward it's xbox and probably even playstation at some point will be a platform it's going to be a platform and not not a physical machine now nintendo i do think it's going to take longer for them because their their products are more like a combination of a toy and i'm being honest a toy and a video game console and i think that you know it's just that that the casual game audience that nintendo appeals to they're going to want a plug and play easy to use system but like it it's pretty much over it's game over you know it's the console wars are over there there's no point in having a dedicated console for most games i mean like i said this little six hundred dollar pc i can load this thing up with every game ever made well it's not a hard drive space but you know i'm saying technically every game ever made from a tari 2600 through you know ps4 even ps5 you know via emulation i'm gonna tell you where to to get those those uh roms at but if you have them if you have a legal copy of them you can play them all in one place and and that's and then all the new stuff will probably be streamed i mean that's kind of where the future of it is it's what it feels like um but yeah that video is coming later today it's my peccard hand like look at this uh and i was very surprised that you could get this kind of performance i have a tiny little machine like this and now they're talking you don't even need an xbox console meanwhile we've got a ps5 that's the size of a freaking dehumidifier i mean the thing is huge and it's noisy and it's hot and uh it was expensive when we first bought it i think it was 700 bucks or something and we basically just played ps4 games on it for the longest time because there wasn't much to play i think we got models morales i think that came out uh about same time at the system launch but yeah i mean it's just that we're getting to the end of the line here guys i mean we really are and i think this is part of the reason why it's taking longer for these consoles to get replaced i think this is why it's taken longer you know each generation it's not like they're jumping back into it because what is the point by the time you get your console out the pc has already destroyed you in terms of tech specs and you can go to walmart and pick up a cheap gaming pc that can probably run things better than an xbox or a ps5 at this point i mean it's just it is what it is right so i'm gonna wrap this up pretty interesting development uh the xbox stands are gonna be very very angry about this but yeah i think uh microsoft has given up on y'all y'all can i say y'all they're giving up on y'all they're just gonna uh probably the next xbox will probably just be a
