It is me, Gigi Sparkles. Today it is just me. Neon is busy elsewhere, so it's just you and me today on the Sunday. We're going to talk about this article from Paul Tassian Forbes about the accolade again. I don't watch the accolade. I'm not going to watch the accolade. Neon watched the accolade for one episode and that was enough for him. I have no desire to see it. My coverage of the accolade has more to do with the fact about how the media is portraying the fans and the idea that if you don't like the show somehow you're a terrible person. Paul Tassian has done articles where he kind of implied that if you know the bigots that don't like this show and this kind of goes on this but it's interesting to me because he's saying he even admits season two looks increasingly unlikely and the reason he thinks it looks unlikely is the reason that people on YouTube have been saying. The ones that he hates on are also correct in this regard. So I just thought it was a funny twist on this whole story. So we're going to talk about it. Before we get into it any further please like and subscribe. If you do I'll give you a wahoo wahoo and we're going to talk about this. So Forbes did an article why the accolade season two looks increasingly unlikely by Paul Tassie. Again Paul Tassie has done other pieces about the accolade prior blaming toxic you know people you know fans for you know being terrible people as a reason why things are going wrong and if you don't like it your bad person kind of vibes that whole situation. So he starts out with the accolade has quickly become one of the most controversial Disney+ Star Wars projects in the entire era right up there with the last Jedi. Yes they have so much in comment I don't even know where to begin. I don't understand why Star Wars wins people back only to do something else that makes no sense to flush them again. You lost him with the last Jedi but time you did rise a Skywalker you undid the last Jedi so everybody you gained with the last Jedi you lost with the rise of Skywalker and you made nobody happy which is why the viewership was terrible. People didn't go see Solo because they were mad about last Jedi and rise a Skywalker. We had Mandalorian winning people back but by season three you lost them all again with some of the bad choices you've made. Every show is progressively getting worse and worse the one that had the most potential Obi-Wan Kenobi you threw out immediately by making it about Obi-Wan and Leia which made no sense whatsoever and if you question any of these things are point out that these things are really dumb and probably not smart to do and you know people are expecting Luke and you're giving them Leia you are a terrible person and a bigot and if you're a woman and not white straight or male you are still the same thing as a white straight man who doesn't like these shows and they will basically lump you over there running out with some margin like you twice. So they said but all they hate and support aside is there a simple question will the acolyte get a season two? Ever since the last few, the last few excellent episodes well for my understanding people that are on board with it the last episode they weren't. I have gone from mixed on the show to a supporter and no matter what happens in the finale I'd like to see it continue but I have to admit that seems exceedingly unlikely based what we know and what he's gonna bring up was exactly what people have been saying. I know for a fact that's what we've been saying. I know it's what other people have been saying and now it's fact based and true when you know but he has to make sure he gets in there it's not because of the YouTubers and the hate. No it's not about the show being woke or being bashed but it is. We're gonna we're gonna talk about being about the show completely or being bashed by Star Wars YouTubers and their audiences which implies that it's only a small group of people who don't like it but his explanation will be the opposite of what he's just saying. Rather it's pretty simple cost versus viewership. Yeah because the viewership isn't there which would mean it's not just Star Wars YouTubers and their audiences that aren't watching the show. It would mean the general public is not watching the show. The general public saw this and thought it wasn't for them but you're the general audiences are not watching it so it's not because of YouTubers and their audiences it's because everyone has just given up on Star Wars. There have been bad choice after bad choice, viewership declines each time we have a show and it isn't because of these people specifically but it's because of a bigger issue which is they have lost the audience but no it's not because of YouTubers and their audiences. Estimate the cost of the acolyte put it a hundred million for what are effectively eight 30-minute episodes. That's absolutely wild amount of money for a Star Wars thing and it's nowhere near theaters but rather the six Disney's live-action Star Wars series instead. Yes and Disney has found that they keep shoving out so much Marvel and Disney content onto Disney Plus that is turning audiences off as I said every time a show releases it seems like there's diminishing returns and both Star Wars and Marvel. Well I think the show has a solid aesthetic it does no it does not look like a 180 million dollar production budget yes okay this is what Neon said too. How where did the money go? Because when you look at this show it is not look a good show he said it's kind of like Star Trek Next Generation where they the the sets and the budget was clearly not there. The budget is this high budget but you're not seeing that translate on into what you're seeing in the show. It's a lot of simple set pieces it looks cheesy. Where'd the money go? They said and you have to wonder where much of that money went which youtubers mentioned. So youtubers are wrong but yet everything the youtubers are saying is correct the show cost too much it doesn't look like it costs as much as they spent on it where all the money go and the audience isn't there that's what youtubers have said but no it's not the youtubers that cause the problem. No no these are what people like at least me haven't been bringing up Neon haven't been bringing up same same points Paul same points. Then there's the viewership where if it was a breakout smash hit but it's so great right Paul? It might be worth spending that for another reason but it's just not there based on what we know Paul Tassie admitting it. Dizzy has not give out official numbers but Nielsen says the premiere was half the viewership of Ahsoka and 75 percent lower than the Mandalorian. Ahsoka was the next to lowest right next lowest you know watch show and over the lowest. Now the acolyte is below Ahsoka. All right it is not good but this is what the people that he claims you know terrible youtubers and their audiences have also been saying the facts are there. All you're doing is repeating facts that like we have said these are all things we have already mentioned and brought up but the terrible youtubers and their viewers are you know are not the blame for the show failing. You're right we're not. This is a common sense answers that we have been pointing out the entire time. I'm surprised you're admitting it because then you're just making us right but you know I'll go on. It's a second least-watched show also behind the book of Bubba Fett and Obi-Wan. I cannot imagine a surge in popularity from there. I think it went up if you look we did a video yesterday before. If you look up the viewership numbers I think it ticked a little higher with the third episode but that's because there was tuning in to see about the power of one the power of two the power of many. That's why they ticked up. I think after that it probably ticked back down but even that it's still not tracking anywhere near what the other shows did. Before you say well it's just so bad that's why viewership is so low. You should know the least-watched show is Andor universally praised as one of the best things in Star Wars history and even past the Disney era. Andor was watched by a lot of people it's the lowest watch correct but the YouTubers that Paul Tassie hates so much a lot of them watched Andorin said it was good. So the YouTubers are somehow you know the the Bayon of existence of Star Wars are also the ones who I hear from who said Andor was okay and watchable and it was pretty good. So pick a side. It did get a season two on a two hundred fifty million dollar budget. Also that show had a lot more episodes. It had a lot of episodes in the first season I believe. It had twelve episodes. I believe it's getting twelve more episodes with season two. So it had more episodes just in general so that would have a bigger budget. Disney might have been okay doing that once given the sky high reviews a massive praise for it but doesn't have that and no that doesn't have that. No one is saying it's anywhere close to the quality of Andor because it's not. So they're saying it's pretty easy to understand what these shows at least watch in Disney history. They lack any and all characters people would recognize for other Star Wars properties. Well Andor is about the character from Rogue One or but a lot of people liked Rogue One. At the light you're having a bunch of new characters no one cares about done by a person who and honestly the damage by the people involved in the show before the show released you know did not help out after making comments they're making turn people off the show was even released Hollywood does not learn this you need to keep your damn mouth shut you know don't just say hey we got a good show we can't wait to show it to you we're very excited about it leave it at that but they don't you have cast members and crew and showrunners out there making comments and making digs and then people are turned off before the show even start so even if it was great which is not even if it was fantastic people would immediately already like you know have their backup just based on the stuff people are saying also people are just tired of it at this point time because Disney has done so much damage with Marvel and Star Wars and quite frankly it's because you know it's a South Park put a ticket make a game make it lame because of that the general audiences are turned off they won't even give us have a chance anymore because they know what's going to be in it and when you have the people out there talking like they do before it even comes out then you already you know your sunk but no no no do go on I think someone's greenlit back when it was you know were invoked a pushing certain agendas and and it took a while to be done and now what happens out people are past the agendas and the show is still stuck in that situation they said Ah Soka had a decade of animated series behind it true the book above had both that true but they ruined Boba Fett misused it Obi-Wan had Obi-Wan and Vader and little Leia and again the re Obi-Wan suffered for that because they didn't do it with Luke they made it about Leia which made no sense whatsoever and it once again people are like agenda the Mandalorian did in fact have new characters in it but there's a excuse after excuse here the Mandalorian did in fact have new characters but it was it was the first Disney+ show that was Star Wars and it had a Jason characters remind people of Boba Fett and Baby Yoda with Grogo and Yoda and stuff and it's like yeah it was also good and it was very much like Star Wars boy the excuses just keep flowing there Paul you know they said there's a hope for season two she has a clearly map she has a story mapped out for future seasons Disney has a lot riding on the High Republic as being theirs to build out but it's not selling well in the books either why would you throw more go money ever bad does he doesn't have the money to waste on stupidity they think green light and or season two with a huge budget yes a while ago again their stock keeps dropping and they don't have they're just promising all this money for theme parks and stuff I don't think they have it to waste we also heard after and or got greenlit Bob Iger said they were they were cramp or they were clamping down on you know budgets and on so many different shows and they were canceling things that they thought might be good but they had to cancel them because you know they were worried the audiences wouldn't be there they're worried about you know cost they're worried about you know fatigue with these with these brands he's done the after and was proved before that so they're clearly having issues and that's reflected in the viewership it's reflected in the fact that that people are not tuning in and you did it to yourself and I don't care how much you like the show Paul you're in one of the minority clearly and you know if we get a season two great that'd be that does he likes to flush money I don't understand why you would well I don't understand why have this that they do it's like if you know it's going to lose money why do it but they do it anyway I'm at this point convinced that there's like a reason that these Hollywood studios are deliberately just flushing money down the shitter I think that they're getting some kind of kickback for it but it's not doing well it's oh it costs too much it you can't eat by your own emission you can't see where the money was spent the viewership isn't there but yes it's because the you did the smart that the youtubers the youtubers in and their people they're not the reason why no but the youtubers been pointing out all this stuff the entire time and only now do you see anyway please I can subscribe and we'll talk to you later bye thanks again for listening more news and videos are available on our website at www.clownfishtv.com and on our YouTube
