It is me, Geeky Sparkles, and you're only getting me today because Neon is elsewhere. So, it's more videos with just me and you, and we're going to have some fun because the Mary Sue is going to try to white night for the acolyte yet again. So, before we get into it any further, please give a like and subscribe, and I'll give you a woohoo woohoo, and we're going to talk about this. So, you know, it can't be any kind of debate, especially if there's a woman involved out the Mary Sue showing up to talk about the toxic man and the review bombing, and it's, oh, trust me fam, everybody's watching the show because the media says so, and the media has been in lockstep with this. And it's really funny to me because why are they so upset? But if the review bombing is clearly so ridiculous that it should be disregarded, why are they so upset? So, here's the article, the acolyte showrunner has the right to take on all the review bombing. Yes, and the fans have the right to decide whether they want to watch it or not, and the fans have the right to give a review if they want, and the fans have a right to have an opinion on this, something the Mary Sue doesn't understand. They think they get to sit on their seat, their hide, their high horse, and lecture us all with their megaphone. No. So, we're going to look at this. So, the acolyte showrunner Leslie Headland recently addressed the review bombing of the show, pointing out that it's rather inconsequential because no one is actually going to take the blade controlling seriously, except for the media. Here is this look at acolyte review bombing when you search it. The acolyte in the long-awaited death of review bombing. It's three weeks, the acolyte has more audience reviews. The acolyte review bombing, a counter-argument, that's actually on the side of it. The review bombing, the acolyte, queer creative acolytes, we said about the trolls. Review bombing is wrong. Review bombing, it's all review bombing, review bombing, review bombing, page of their page. 400,000 results about review bombing specifically involving the acolyte. But it's just, guys, it's inconsequential. No one's taking it so seriously, except for the media. I would like to propose that if the media didn't go out there and keep making these posts about review bombing, no one would have known it was going on. The media just perpetuated the entire thing, and even if you were going to argue review bombing at first, okay, fine, maybe some people were review bombing at first. But now you've put the ID people's heads to go review bombing because you wouldn't stop talking about it. The media itself has taken a problem and amplified it through all their websites, and now they're trying to act like inconsequential. But you guys kind of made the problem. You went all over making talking points about it and you made the problem worse. It's like if you have a tiny cut and you keep picking at it and picking at it and opening up more until it gets infected and it's like really, really huge and now you have to go to the hospital, that's what you did. If you just left it alone in the first place, it probably would have been okay and no one would have thought of it. But for something so inconsequential, you turned it into something consequential. Good job, Mary Sue and friends. They're talking about the whole thing about the story and all that, and it goes on and on about it. Unfortunately, and here we go, every buzzword ever, before it premiered, the acolyte got on the radar of the anti-woke mob because you know you can't not like this show. Because I just spent a whole bunch of time talking about how she's the award winning whatever, you know she's a lesbian because she's a lesbian because she taught you she's a lesbian and she's married to a woman. So if you don't like this show, it's not because the show sucked, it's because you hate people like Leslie Hedlund. So the anti-woke mob hated it. Well, it's not uncommon for trolls to lose it over any show deemed woke. I thought you said it wasn't woke. They've seemed even more unhinged than usual over the series. Again, I can rewrite this as saying, well, it's not uncommon for the trolls of the Mary Sue to lose it over anybody who doesn't like what they deem woke. They are more unhinged than normal over the reaction to this series. It has turned into an all-out obsession for many who have been review bombing the show harassing and launching racist attacks on cast and crew. Again, most people, this is what they do. Most people aren't doing that. The majority of people who don't like the show aren't doing that. And I don't even know if people are really doing it so much as it is. People are like on the side of the Mary Sue doing it themselves to say, look, look, look. If people are behind the show are just setting themselves messages and saying, look, look, look. I wouldn't only think that, but I've seen that happen recently. And so I'm kind of like, whoa, we get some messages sometimes. And it's clearly people pretending to be like, I'm far, I'm far right. And I'm going to harass you. And it's like, but you clearly, the way you're reacting and what you're talking, it's like a caricature or parody of a far right person. So I think it's just somebody that's on the left trying to say, I'm on the right. And it's so funny because they always think that we're like, you know, all right, yachtsies. We're not even Republicans. But anyway, you get this. So, I mean, yeah, where a couple of people might have done this, be it themselves or somebody else, while it might have been a handful of people that did it. Everybody doesn't like the show is getting blamed. Everybody who gives it a negative review, everybody who says, I don't care for this, are getting lumped in with these handful of people. We see it time and time again. Calimari Tree and the Moses Ingram. Most people weren't even saying anything about that. And he's going on about, you know, sexism and everything else when they, and you're against LGBTQ. But when they had characters in Andor that were together, that were women, nobody cared. Because you know, you're, you're, you're equating something that isn't there. And my next thing is, hardly anybody talked about Andor including the media. Do you notice how there wasn't a big, you know, hate fest backlash threats on that one? But when the media gets involved, suddenly all the stuff happened and it's amplified, but it's just inconsequential. Uh-huh. You're creating your own damn problem and blaming everybody else. You did it yourself. And then you're trying to say, it wasn't us, it was the trolls. No, it was you. You made the problem because you took a few people doing something and you, you megaphoned it to White Knight for the show and it blew up. And then you're trying to blame on everybody else. No, it's your own fault. Point back to yourself there. Mary Sue and Company. And they said, um, the death threats, the Wikipedia editors. I'm 100% sure somebody probably sent them something like, "Oh, I hope you die." We've gotten it before. I know other YouTubers have gotten it before. We get people threats and threats. Hope we, saying they hope their kids killed themselves. Okay? We can shit like that all the time. I'm sure that, I'm sure that happened. But once again, once again, I'm sure it was a couple people and now you're trying to paint everyone with a broad brush on that one and saying, "If you disagree with Wikipedia changing the dates for the character, you are one of those people." No, you are not that person just because you don't agree. That's bullshit. That's a stretch and I'm tired of it. I'm tired of you vilifying people who are completely innocent just because they don't agree with something. I'm not saying it didn't happen. I'm sure it probably did. Some people are just off their damn rocker. That being said, that's not the majority of people. Also, I want to point out again, Wikipedia is notorious for not liking something someone says to them on Twitter, even if it's something like, it's not a threat. It's just not disagreeing with them and they block them. So there's that too. Potter cattle on that one. Actually, you can probably find more examples of Wikipedia acting like that than you can of people sending threats to Wikipedia. But I digress. Then they said they threatened Wikipedia editors and devoting hours every week of religiously watching new episodes. Jokes on you, I don't watch it. It looks like shit. And milling down every little detail. Didn't do that either. I just, I don't talk about the show per se. I talk about people like the Mary Sue's reaction to it and how they keep trying to vilify fans. I talk about the media turning, you know, they're the ones making the mountain out of the molehill and then blaming it on the fans. That's what I talk about, okay? Fortunately, she's not very concerned about the trolling. So, and then they said in a interview with, do you notice who this is? Collider, right? So we've an interview with Collider. Leslie Helen says it's so clear what's going on between OSHA and Quimier and the acolyte. What they're doing now is they're trying to make Kyla Ren of Ray 2.0. They're going after the Raylos and the shippers. Because they're the only ones that actually give a shit about this stuff. But what I want to point out is colliders the one that put out this lovely article by Cameron where Star Wars biggest problem is the fans, okay? Collider. If you go out to the, you're trying to find the viewership of the acolyte and you put the acolyte to your viewership, you're going to notice that the articles today, comic book resources, et cetera, screen ran. But they go back even last month. The acolyte viewership suggests negative fan, the review bombing. But they also have here, um, the online backlash doesn't represent the fandom real good. That's screen rant, comicbook.com, screen rant here, even in June. Forget rotten tomatoes, new viewership data shows positive performance last like a month ago. But you notice screen rant, screen rant, comic book resources. Yeah. All of these sites are Valnet sites, screen rant, movie web. Oh yeah, there's a movie web on here too, movie web. They're all Valnet sites, screen rant, movie web, colliders, CBR. All Valnet sites. In an interview with Leslie Headland, given to Collider, do you see what's going on here? All these people, they're white knighting, they're out of their way. All kinds of articles talking about, you know, it's the fans and review bombing and trying to damage control and a lot of them are coming up as Valnet sites. Completely coincidental, I am sure, wink, wink. Bullshit. It's very interesting. We have all these hit pieces on the fans, especially this one from Cameron here. Kisses Cameron. And it's all coming from the same site that got Leslie Headland in for an interview. And they've been white knighting for months, weeks for this show. Okay. Yeah. That's a little bit too coincidental if you ask me. But you go to this interview and they're talking about, this is what the Mary sees getting mad about. But they're spending a bunch of time because they're trying to make it last Jedi 2.0. When it wasn't working with the fans the regular way, now they're trying to position this as, oh, this is a new ship, this is a new Raylow. This is the new, the last Jedi. This is, you know, what should have happened with the Raylow ship that you didn't get. This is what they're trying to promote it with because they're, basically, it doesn't have no viewer. So now they're going after the rabid ones from the last Jedi to try to get them to support the show, hoping that they'll get enough, you know, viewership that Disney's going to be like, okay, do you more? The accolade is finished with what Ryan Johnson started with the last Jedi, seven years ago by delivering some long overdue enemies to lover's vibes. She just watched the guy, the fucker just killed all her friends. She just killed everyone. She just killed them all. All the Jedi around her, just killed them, you know, but, you know, but he was naked. So, oh my God, he's so hot. I mean, dude is hot, but I'm just saying, that's not a reason to be like, I love you. This is what this rings with the Padme and it can, I killed him all, even the kids. Okay, baby, it's okay, who the hell would stand there and be like, yeah, it's fine, hugs and kisses. I mean, I had a problem with that then. It's just getting worse in Star Wars. And they said, following last night's ship brewing episode, you look, you know, last Jedi, Ryan Johnson, enemies to lovers, ship brewing episode, do you see a trend here? I caught up with Leslie Headland to unpack the ins and outs, everything went down between the characters and their dynamic might be headed. And then, over the course of our lengthy conversation, Headland spoke about the ship's connections to Kylo Ren, Adam Driver, and Rey, Desi Ridley, and the power of two might be a force dyad. Her intentions behind introducing this dynamic and how it plays with gender norms, how the Jedi act like match up with the Jedi of the prequel trilogy, and the surprising connections to crouching tiger hidden dragon. But they're flat out admitting the whole point is to ship these two characters. They're just trying to ship them and they're trying to go after the last Jedi crowd because no one else is watching this shit. That's their next play. Later on the article, they're talking about what happened with the review bombing. So the question the person asks is, I have to say, one of the things I woke up this morning, I was thinking about how funny it is, time is a flat cycle because once again, we're an election year where we have a Star Wars project that's giving us enemies to lovers. It's abusive relationship, it's like Catra and Adora, like what the hell? She's Catra is an evil shit. She put her through a lot of stuff, but no, no, I have to love her. It's like just because you like abuse doesn't make it and you're just not trying to normalize abuse. Okay? Stop trying to normalize it. And we're also getting a show that's getting review bombed by bots and bad faith people on the internet. And I'm curious, there's obviously a lot of people who are tuning in every week to actually watch this. I don't think the numbers are as high as they thought. The first two episodes only got 4.8 million for two episodes, that would be one of the lowest rated. I think if you're gonna find it, if it stayed in the charts for a while after that, it's only because people were tuning in to see what a train record is. I won't watch it at all because I know the takeaway is gonna be hate watching, still watching. So I don't tune in to it. They love this, they love this and they're creating things because they love this show so much. Are there conversations behind the scenes or people acknowledge this is a movement to review bomb on Rotten Tomatoes? It isn't exactly indicative of what the fans are actually thinking. First of all, the viewership is more evident, evidence of what people are actually thinking than Rotten Tomatoes. I think that people, the normies aren't watching. People are tuned out from Star Wars. Every time there's a new show or a film, there are diminishing returns. That is provable. That is the numbers. Saying other review bombings, do people believe in the review bombing? No one's really caring enough to look. And again, no one probably would have noticed the review bombing if people like the Mary Sue and Collider and all these outlets hadn't run with it and amplified the problem. They are actually the biggest part of the problem trying to blame it on everybody else. Here's what Leslie Hedlen said, "Oh yes, everybody knows what review bombing is like." Truly when the show's first came out, my public is like, "Okay, with the review, I was like, does anybody take that seriously anymore?" Well, again, the media does, blah, blah, blah, review bombing. Perhaps the average, I understand the point of it, which is that the average viewer wouldn't look at the site and say, "Oh, the user review is really low." Most people don't even go to Rotten Tomatoes. But I think that if you're in a Star Wars fandom, I think you already know what review bombing is. Again, not liking something and saying you don't like something and even giving a negative review is not mean that you're a terrible person. People are allowed to not like this shit. I'm sorry, people are allowed to like it too, so don't go harassing people who like it unless they're harassing you first. That's how I stand. If someone likes it and they're being completely respectful and they're not being ridiculous about it, I just let them like what they like, you know, fine. I only step in when people are like, "You're not like this because you're a, but how this article started on Mary Sue." No, toxic man, baby, bigoted, blah, blah, blah, anti-woke, racist, misogynistic. That's when I'm like, "No, see, that's the line because you're just taking it to you far. You're trying to dehumanize and vilify people for not liking the damn show." Shows have not been like they are declining in popularity. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking when they agree and let this one, to be honest. And they're going to double down the last Jedi because they're desperately trying to save Star Wars. Instead of just doing the most basic thing that would work like he does in Mandalorian, make good Star Wars. It's not really that hard, but they can't seem to wrap their little brains around this. So, I guess if you're totally new to the fan, if you're saying we're watching a TV show, it could affect you. But I also think that my work in the past has been very word of mouth anyway, so I don't know if, I think that's because behind the scenes, we all know that what it is. It's not that it's not concerning, but I think it's pretty expected, I would say, because I'm a lesbian. I expect you to review about it because it's never, they never blame themselves. Always somebody else's fault. It's always a fan's fault. It's always toxic man, baby's fault. It's never, maybe your story sucked, it's never their fault, it's always somebody else's fault. I'm glad you know that it's at least expected these days because people are people. But you really liked that with a fan base because you have the Ray-Lose who gravitated toward this immediately as soon as the vibes were there and those are the ones that are creating fan fiction, they're creating fan art very good. You wouldn't have to the Ray-Lose. The problem with the Ray-Lose and these shippers, not everyone, I'm sure there's a lot of ones that are reasonable people, but the extreme ones. The problem is as soon as you don't give them what they want or you don't give them enough of what they want, they're going to turn on you. So you're playing with fire and you're just going to throw gasoline on that fire if you don't do what they want. So my guess is after they learned after the last Jedi, they're going to somehow deliver what they want in some way because otherwise they're going to be mad and they're going to turn on them. And since they're clearly courting this audience to try to get some viewership for the show, it's probably going to bite them in the ass in some way. When you have the higher public fans who will meme their way out of a tragic situation, which just brings so much joy, like God, and I'm curious for you as a creative, what is it like to see the positive response or something you're creating that is making other people want to create things of their own? How is it you're creating because all you're doing is copying by the mission of this and the mission of what you're talking about? For me personally, I've always thought that this is the hallmark of a good story. It inspires you to want to create something within that sandbox. Star Wars, for years, I wouldn't expect a lot of these journalists to know this because they weren't around because they were probably not even born. But for decades, Star Wars had people excited, people creating fan fiction, people creating art, people creating all kinds of memes and comics and books and everything you could think of about Star Wars for decades before Leslie Headlin showed up, before Disney even took over Star Wars, I'm going to keep calling it Disney, Star Wars, fuck you. Before all of that, it was ground for decades with people loving it and enjoying it. And you had some backlash, I'm not going to say you didn't, but it wasn't to the point of where we're seeing now because it was pretty good for the most part. Prequel, some of the prequels, but you know what I'm saying, and the books and everything. People were creating that, they were so popular, they brought the toys back in the 90s. Before they even knew they were going to do re-releases and they were going to make more films. But the books, they're out and everything else, they sold really well. Games, video games, oh my gosh, video games were incredibly popular. She wants to ruin 90s or public now, too, so I'm going to start on that one. But it's been going on for years, it isn't a new thing, Leslie Headlin didn't invent it. I'm tired of this whole idea that they invented it and you know, it must be nice, it was around for years. She's like, I'm so amazed by it because this is my type of fandom and adolescence or adulthood, but the prequels are coming out. I create my own world based on the prompt of Star Wars Me. Okay, so yes, she's saying, I feel like it's a bit. So the idea that I first of all, getting to work in Star Wars is my dream, it's my career high. I don't know exactly what I'm going to do after this. So being able to be part of something, part of that and create Star Wars media and then have people doing what I did, it's very surreal and absolutely like you said, a vote of confidence that this is fitting into the world I love so much. So at least I'll give her credit there. She said, no, it's not new. I did this myself, but I was adolescent. So she wasn't even around when, she was like an adolescent when the prequels, but she wasn't even around when original Star Wars came out. It's not new, but I will give Leslie Helly credit for that because she basically said it's not new. It's been going on. But these media people are all like some, like 20 some year old idiot who's never around doesn't know what they're talking about. Again, the Mary Sue is going to keep going on about it. It's pointless for a Star Wars show. She's like, it's quite humorous how the trolls genuinely think they're doing something with these reviews. When in reality, they're just wasting their time. It's genuinely humorous that people like the Mary Sue think they're doing something when they're helping the show, when they're actually making it worse by cleaning onto the review bombing. And when you're in your effort to own the chads, you've just amplified the voices you claim don't matter. And my next comment is, again, for something that's so, you know, doesn't matter and there's wasting their time, why are you writing an article about it? Why do you care? Why are all these articles good about it? Why is Valnet doing everything they can to protect it? If it doesn't matter, if there's such a small vocal minority and they have no power, why this? And if it's such a small vocal minority, why does the viewership suck? Because everybody's tuning it out. Now, you have to go after the Raylows because you're that desperate. Yeah, it's because, you know, everybody just, like, no one cares, they're just such a tiny voice and no one hears them. Yeah. Anyway, please like and subscribe and I'll talk to you later, bye.
