And if you don’t agree, you’re a bigot who gets blocked... or something? Disney Star Wars is for terminally online, mentally ill weirdos now. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) - Take two, welcome back to clownfish TV. This is neon, I'm here with geeky sparkles. And we're gonna talk about the insanity that is modern day Star Wars fandom. We're actually doing another take on this video. The last one was pretty heated and I'm gonna tell you right front, I'm just so over it, I'm over it. I can't, I can't with this. We're gonna talk about mostly about the situation with Wikipedia. Apparently they were trending because their editors changed the entry on Wikipedia or Wikipedia for Ki Adi Monday, the cone head, the cone head Jedi master that nobody gave a shit about a couple of weeks ago. And we gave a shit about for decades. He was a weird ass looking action figure. But now he's suddenly the most important thing ever. - Yeah, that was a weird straw to break the camel's back. Like it wasn't like, you know, the fact that the force is now male because it impregnates women. - Yeah, that's right, of course. - That's canon apparently by the accolade. And other things, no, no, it's because they added Ki Adi Monday and people pointed out well he wouldn't have been there 'cause he wasn't around then. And they literally went to Wikipedia and changed the dates around to make it fit to basically cover up for the accolade. - Yeah. - And then people were mad about it. And according to Wikipedia, that people went out and threatened the editor and their pets. - Why? - Which, you know, and that are where you went. - Don't do that, don't do that. - I don't think that's right. We get death threats before. People threaten our kids before. - Yes. - And we don't ever, ever, ever think that's okay. That being said, I'm sure it was probably just a few people. And those few people somehow is, you know, we're to paint the entire fandom with a broad brush over a few people. And it still doesn't change the fact that you retconned it and you did. And now that doesn't require death threats, but you did. Now, Wikipedia is notorious for flippin' blocking everyone for any reason under the sun. I think the clownfish counts blocked, isn't it? - We are blocked. So I'm like, what the hell? Seriously. - We've never done anything to you that other than not like Disney Star Wars. We tell people all the time, you're allowed to like it, do not harass people. - And you know who else doesn't like Disney Star Wars? George Lucas, is George Lucas blocked by Wikipedia? - I don't know, but it's fine to me. 'Cause clownfish is blocked by Wikipedia, but I am actually in Wikipedia. - Yeah. - For real, I am in it. - Well, you won't be after this video. - No, 'cause I still was in the books, this is me. - Yes, yeah, I was verified. I got this, I got directly from Kevin Anderson that this is based on geeky sparkles before she was geeky sparkles. - Right. So back in the day, I've mentioned this before, I was a big fan. Like, I love Star Wars. Like, you can't tell you how much I love Star Wars. I loved past tense. And I used to read all the books and that the books are good and I really liked them. I would write the authors and tell them how much I like their work. And I'd send it to the publishing houses or whatever to make sure they got the letters and sometimes they'd write back. And he wrote me back and said he liked my name and he was gonna keep it on a list of names, which he turned out he did use later on. So that was actually named after me. I have the letters, I have, you have this correspondence. - Yeah, I have the confirmation somewhere. - Yeah, I have the letter and everything else. It's me, I'm the same daft for me. I'm a Wokey PDF, which they're gonna probably lose their shit about now and probably somehow try to find a way to erase me from that too. But I just, I can't hear it from my head on it. It's like, where's the Wokey PDF comment? You do have the comment put up somewhere about, yeah. So apparently after the editor was threatened, Wokey PDF put out, we aren't gonna mince words on this one. If you're a sponsor and editor adding a date to an article on Wokey PDF as a tell them you hope that they and their pets die, you are not a Star Wars fan. We keep hearing this. If you don't agree with us, you're not a Star Wars fan. We've heard this about people from the acolyte. We've heard this from your honestly headlamp. We've heard this from other parts of Lucasfilm. If you don't go along with what I like, you're not a Star Wars fan 'cause we have decided, hey, like that is no place here and you're not welcome in our community. Who decides who the community is? Who decides who gets to be part of the community doesn't? Because you block it everybody for stupid reasons. They have never interacted with you. You decided they were part of the community. So basically when you have using hashtags like your board and soul patrol, you would literally just say, you think the side of the community is and the communities who ever agrees with you. But that's not a fair community. Get to get no other voice except for your voice. And the problem is, where I agree with you, you do not harass people, you do not threaten people. 100%, I've said it many times. I do think that it happens, but I think that people that do it are few and far between, but you use it as an excuse to try to promote the show, to promote yourself. Oh look, they're the biggest are attacking us. The biggest are attacking us. But you, I've also seen people, and I think I had a post say because that holocron, can you go out to my post from the day for the holocron? They had this one up too. Champion what you love about Star Wars and spread positivity, okay? Well, the thing is, if you say you love old Star Wars, they descend upon you because you're a bigot. Don't criticize people for enjoying something. Don't tell people you're allowed to like it. I never pick anybody for liking it unless they pick on me. There's no, there's so much hate in the world and we shouldn't have the hate and something as beautiful as meaningful as Star Wars and its community. Star Wars holocron, who is also, you know, but out there basically implying that if you don't like things, you're a bigot. I can't tell you how many articles we've talked, we've called out, you don't like it, you're a bigot. I got called a cunt in Spanish by a dude who was arguing with me that I wasn't internalized misogynist 'cause I didn't like Ray. - Yeah, I was the bigot, not him. - We got put on a hit list. Again, I'm gonna wind up going off here. I went off earlier and I popped a blood vessel in my brain, but we got put on a hit list a couple of years ago by somebody associated with Lucasfilm and they tried to tie us to like the actual alt, right? They tried to tie us to political figures who I don't even watch. I didn't even know who half these people are, but because we talked to a person who talked to a person who had a person on their show at one point in time, therefore we signed off on all this shit. - Well, no, no, it wasn't even that. It was because we didn't, we were saying that Ray was a Mary Sue and stuff, so we're one of them. - But she is a Mary Sue. - I know, I know. - Disney Star Wars is fucking stupid. I'm sorry, I'm here, I'm gonna say it. You can fucking have it. You can fucking have it. - I don't care if you like it, I don't want it. - I don't want it. - I don't think of anyone unless they start it. And then you don't believe about it, I don't finish it. - But this nonsense around Disney Star Wars has blown up to have real world consequences. - There was so much attention. - Yeah, just feel it. - No one's watching it. Suddenly, oh, look, all right, save us from the biggest. Wookiee Peenee is under attack. You have to watch the acolyte. Show the big ends if they're not. Show the chance, oh, the chance. Watch the acolyte. - Right, and this is the thing, it's like Wint's and repeat for every damn Star Wars show. - I know every time. - Oh, you hate Riva or watch, Wint's bet Obi-Wan Kenobi. - Oh, you know what camera you're treating. - Oh my God, oh my God, guys. - We have our death threats, oh. - Oh my God, oh my God. Yeah, and then Wint's a repeat for the next show and the thing is, is nobody cares that general public doesn't give a shit about Star Wars anymore, don't you see? You, you, you've, terminally online wearows have commandeered this, this fandom. You've driven all the normal people away, congratulations. Congratulations, Star Wars is definitely not a fandom for normal people anymore. And it hasn't been for a good number of years. Like, I would never want my, I'd take a look at all this, the drama around Star Wars, and I'd never let my kid be a Star Wars fan. You're like, fuck this, this is weird. - Well, I think most people are blissfully unaware of it unless you're in the thick of it, you're like on Twitter or whatever, where they also have to hang out. You don't know about it. If you're not reading these obscure blogs, or these like, you know, tech blogs or geek blogs, that they were there calling anybody who doesn't like it a bigot, you're unaware of it. Because there's a lot of people who don't completely don't know their bigots, apparently. You know, they have, you know, they might themselves not be straight or male, they're somehow a bigot because they don't like what you like. And all the people that agree could be part of your quote, unquote, community. - I don't want any part of your community, bitch. - No, I don't care, I don't want to be. I don't care. You can have it. I mean this with all sincerity. You can fucking have it. Because these fandoms get so weird that they get these gatekeepers in there and they get so damn weird and they start with the purity test and they start with this and that. - They're not even used to literally be for everyone for decades. - Yeah. - And no one cared. - Star Wars was like science fiction for normies for the longest time, like, you know, the more cerebral people would watch Star Trek, but Star Wars was like action and adventure in space and it was for everybody. And then at some point, it just became like this. It just became a franchise for terminally online weirdos. I mean, it really is, it is a weird fandom. And same thing has happened with comic books. The same thing has happened with some sectors of tabletop gaming. Now I'm not saying that people, you know, normal people aren't fans of these shows, but like as far as the fandom, I guess. So you think of the people that go to the conventions and run the boards and whatever. - That's all been taken over by a bunch of terminally online, mentally ill weirdos. And I don't want to be part of it. - I get mad. - I don't care. - What makes me mad is, I completely let people, like they say they like it and I say nothing. Like, I'm like, okay, fine, whatever, you'll add like it. I often say you'll add like, you'll add not like it. What I get mad about isn't even the shows that have been the stuff so much as it is a fact that immediately people don't like it. We have these people that are usually associated with the acceptable community that it's okay when they threaten you. It's okay when they call you names and harass you and do everything they're claiming you do to them. It's okay when they do it to you. And that's where it's a problem. It's like, you can't say, like I say none of it's acceptable, but they claim that they say none of it's acceptable, but their community is allowed to go out and do that. And I'm like, I'm tired of it. I'm sick and tired of it. We all need to be united. And it's like, no, because that means we have to agree with what you say to be united. And that's not, that's not it either. Like, you're allowed to like this shit. Thing is, I don't think most people do, which is the problem and much of why they're panicking. - Yeah, and that's what, this whole, all of this, every, it's every show. So like, we've got Schrodinger's fandom where the fans are the blame for everything, but the- - They're also the vocal minority. - They're also the vocal minority, depending on what kind of fans they are. So we've got that contrasted with low viewership, abysmal toy sales, and just a general lack of interest in the general public. Even the mainstream media is calling out that Star Wars is a damaged brand, right? They chase all the normal people off, but it feels like all of these dramas around every show are artificially produced, that they're being, I think fires are being stoked by corporate machinations. - But it might be true, like they only got like, oh, a couple of people threatened them or told them to drop dead or something, and then they're gonna run with that and be like, oh my God, we're under attack. - Well, that's happened, that's happened, yeah. I mean, again, because of certain individuals associated with Lucasfilm, we had the target put on us and our family. Like I said, this shit has real world consequences, right? And I do not condone anybody who threatens anyone. For any reason, somebody could be the biggest dick face, cunt mouth, ass white munch. - That's how it'd be a lot of things at once. - Asshole, cut, cunt slut. You could be, can I say that? Am I allowed to say that? - I don't know. I think it's interesting you're saying it, not me. - But I'm saying, like you could be the worst person imaginable, right? But like you should be saying death threats to people. You shouldn't be doing that shit. - No, but people talk about that shit online, but they don't actually back it up in person. - But they don't leverage, they're gonna leverage it. If you do it, it's not helping anything. It's just gonna give them something to leverage. Even though they never shut receipts, so post-doc people think they don't get it at all, and just make it up. I'm sure they don't get on those to say they did. - And sometimes it's like, you know, what constitutes a death? Like, is this person like, oh, here's a picture of me standing outside your house? That's a lot different than, like, I wish you would die. You know, but that's not nice. It's not nice to say. - No, and you shouldn't do it. We've always said that. Like we've always said you shouldn't do that kind of stuff. It's like, you know, I'm just tired of this quote unquote community that decides who's an acceptable fan and who's not. It's like, you don't get to decide if people are fans or not. You don't get to decide that. - Yeah. - Like you shouldn't get to decide, if your point is just to report on actual Star Wars information and keep like a log of what's what. It's not your job to decide who gets to, who can and can't be a fan. - But they do. That's what happens. These are these mentally ill people. And they've done the same thing with Tabletop. They've done the same thing with video games. They usually start out at the fan level. They start out like on the message boards and then they kind of work their way into like a community manager role. And then they work their way into, you know, being volunteers at conventions. Eventually, they wind up as an intern at one of these companies. And then next thing you know, they've got the ear of somebody or they're running the show. And they all kind of like snuck in and commandeered all these fandoms and made everything really fucking weird. It's weird. These fandoms are weird now. - I just feel like the fact that you can't not like something. If you have valid reasons. I mean, any reason that you happen not liking something is probably a valid reason. But even if it's something stupid, you're not allowed to like it because you're a bigot. You're an insell. You're some isophobic, whatever, because you don't like it. 'Cause it's not about, I don't like this character. You don't like it 'cause it's black. No, I just think it's a poorly written shitty character. - You're not, you know what I'd say. It's corporate standing, which is even more weird. Like you do understand this to Disney. This is just corporate product. You guys are just useful idiots. - They're used to diversity as a shield. - Yeah, it's your useful idiots. And when it's not profitable, which it's not, they'll change it up. - Well, that's what I was telling people. If you don't, if you like it, find buy, you better go buy everything you can buy to send the message that you like it. But if you don't like it, guys, by watching the episodes, you even hate watching them, you're just letting them, you're just being like, okay, well, we're getting clicks, you know? And they're gonna count it as engagement. Just don't watch the show. Don't buy the shit. Don't throw, obviously don't send death threats, even though I think even if people didn't, they'd say they got them. - Yeah. - Don't do it, that's up. Just completely disengage. - Just yeah, I think that's the best way to deal with this. And I think, I mean, pardon me, is there a flicker of hope with some people, they're old school fans, are hoping these franchises are gonna come back. And I'm like, I don't think they ever are, you know? I thought about this the other day. I've been thinking a lot about this lately, 'cause I look at kind of the state of all these fandoms. I'm like, the things that we love growing up, they don't really exist anymore. You know, Marvel Comics is not what it was. It's barely Marvel Comics now. Star Wars is not what it was. - It's a zombie. - It's a zombie. They own the name, but they don't actually have the heart of it, you know? I mean, when George Lucas doesn't even like Disney Star Wars, they've totally lost the plot. And it's like, look, we have good memories of these things growing up, and that's fantastic. And there are lots of new shows out there, lots of new movies out there that you can be fans of. Just don't get fucking weird about it. - Right, and not liking Disney Star Wars does not make you a bigot. - No. - If you're actively out there hating on people because of race, gender, sexual orientation or whatever, well then, yeah, then you might be, don't take that as you're being a bigot. But a lot of people just don't like it 'cause it sucks. - I don't even care. - I just don't care. - I'm sorry. - Okay, what makes me mad is that you don't like diversity. No, no, no, no. I was around back in the day when diversity was in films and TV shows and nobody cared. Like, it didn't even phase you. It's like, you watched it anyway. You didn't care. I was from a generation and we looked past that shit. We didn't care. What happens is you're putting, you're trying to replace the actual work of making new things, good characters, good writing, good production values with diversity and then trying to say that makes up for everything else. And it doesn't. And the thing is you're doing a disservice to the people you're claiming representing by giving them really shitty things to work with and then saying that you don't like it 'cause you're a bigot, that you're not helping. That mentality is making it worse. You need to stop talking. You need to stop. If you like a fandom, if you actually want more people to like the things that you like, stop being weird. Stop the cakekeeping, stop attacking people. I don't think the community might not like what you like but doesn't make their bad stuff. I mean, we used to have arguments. I was big in the Transformers for a number of years. I was on a lot of forums for a number of years. And I am the guy who mouthed off to the producers and got the head on Megatron Change, by the way, so I was doing this shit. - I'm sure he was an idiot. - Before YouTube. Go, quote, quote, quote, going idiot and blogger. But yeah, so you're welcome, I guess. But like, you know, like what you like, don't like what you don't like. And here's the, you know, I think they're honestly, I think the root of it is they're angry that everybody doesn't see things the way that they see them. - And they take it as a person. - They take it as a person. Again, this goes with, and I'm being completely serious. I'm not, I'm not throwing shade at people, I'm not. But that is like kind of a mental illness, right? That's kind of like, you're so invested in a property that you didn't create that if anybody doesn't like this cartoon show that you didn't create or whatever, you can't stand it. It drives you nuts. 'Cause I think you're- - 'Cause they take it as a personal fight. They're insecure- - Yeah, you want validation. - Yeah, you want validation through. - Right. - Right. - If you don't like this, and I like this, and I feel I'm represented by this, then you hate me 'cause you're, and I, you're big it. It's like, no. - No, you can't- - 'Cause it sucks. - Right, you can like somebody and be like, yeah, I think you're an okay guy. But your taste in movies, yeah, they're shit. I'm sorry, that doesn't mean we can't be friends. It's just you're, we're not gonna watch movies together 'cause the movies you pick are gonna be dog shit. And also you're weird because you're online attacking the chuds all the time. Isn't that weird? I think that's kind of weird. Go touch grass. When I was a kid, like, I'd play D&D, and I'd play video games, played a lot of video games, played a lot of D&D, and watched way too many cartoon shows, but then I'd go outside and play baseball. I'd ride my bike. I'd go touch grass. I'd go outside anymore. Too busy on Twitter fighting the good fight, which, you know. - They're not kids though. They're like 30 year olds. - I know. - That's what's so fucking weird. It's weird. Stop being weird. - Look, people are allowed to like what they like. Don't harass people who like it, unless they're coming after you first, by all means. You don't have to put off all of that. - You don't have to wait to defend yourself. - You don't have to wait to defend yourself. - You don't have to wait to defend yourself. - Don't sit there and look at Wikipedia and tell us that you're not part of the community. You're not a real fan if you don't agree with us. When people in your quote unquote community, and including yourselves are out there saying anybody who doesn't agree with you as a bigot, and you're not part of the community. They're not a Star Wars fan because they don't like what you like. You don't get to make that decision. You don't get to decide. Just like, I can't tell you if someone likes this, that they're not a Star Wars fan. I mean, 'cause that wouldn't be the thought of my place to tell them they're not a Star Wars fan. So you know what, sit and spin. Stick it up your ass. I don't care. But I've been doing this. I've been part of Star Wars since as long as I can remember. I mean, yeah, I was really little when they first came out, like, really little. But I've been part of this for my entire life, loved it. Before a lot of you people were even around, born, before these, these, you know, discords and shit existed, you know, that the character was named after me, you know, before I was even married to neon. Years before I was even married to neon. She loves Star Wars before she loved me. It's true. And I'm just sick of it. Like, if you have someone that doesn't agree with you, that's fine. They're allowed to disagree with you. Just let them alone. And I'm just tired of it. I'm tired of the bullying, the incessant bullying. And it's bunched by a bunch of immature, entitled, you know, insecure people who take it as you don't like what I like. So you don't like me. Well, if you're a fucking asshole, no, I don't. So and also the force is a male because he, they impregnate people. So there you go. Accolade said so. Use protection. Yeah, that's right. Don't want to go without. Don't chant unless you're writing code on. It's all I'm saying. Oh, God. Oh, God. I have a mental image now. I don't want of it like space seed from the sky and witches in the rain. Oh, God. God, that's somebody's fetish, though. You know, somebody's. Well, clearly it's in the show. Anyway, can we please wrap this up? Yeah, I'm just like, I'm tired of it. Aren't you tired of all of this? I just think, I just think that it's God, I think it escalated awfully quickly over something so stupid. Because it's manufactured. I don't think this is real. I don't think they might have got one or two messages. I don't think it's to the level or to the extent. And they do this every time. And then they go after. They go get the actors and they go get the authors and they go get the, you know, make sure you put your hashtags, you support us because we're being attacked by bigots. Yeah, before, I mean, this is what so like they count on it. They want it. I think they want the attention, even the negative attention. They go out and they'll actually go talk to the actors, whatever, like, well, just say you know you're black and they're going to hate you. So we need to preemptively put out a video talking about how, you know, we won't stand with bigotry. Rinse and repeat for every actor, actress, well, almost, almost everybody. Some, some people didn't get, get anybody back in them up. Yeah. I'm just like, yeah, she was fine and told that you shouldn't represent the way you thought she should. And then how, how, how. Exactly. It's a feeling. I'm just tired of it. I'm like, look, again, you can have, you can have your Disney Star Wars fandom, you get all of yourself, you get all the action figures you want, you can find all the action figures at all. And Disney gets all of you. They get all of you. Disney congratulations. This is the fandom you wanted and you're not going to get the normies back. You had a chance. I think most people don't, they just, they've checked out. They've checked out. Anyway, please wrap this up. Let's wrap it up. Please subscribe for more pop culture news, views, and rants.
