He'll explain his decision at a news conference later this afternoon. Current Mayor Marianne Baldwin is not running for re-election. There are four candidates still in the running. The Tarboro Police Department is investigating a post on social media. Officials say an inappropriate post was made by one of its officers that "does not reflect the values and standards of our department." The officer was placed on administrative leave while the department investigates the context and details of that post. A Japanese medical device company is coming to North Carolina. State officials made the announcement this afternoon. Neaproke is a producer of advanced medical devices.
