Welcome back to the show power bike promoter take on any job with Commoders range of trackers miles and utility vehicles still Time to get us a text on the hark or it's open line hark or it's results for you I hope for floating in a double five two five three five miles or rated out team if you're a leader go for it Which one I'm going for football has struggled for a singer for the national anthem I think we should have Brenna audition on air and see if you get a double pay date on Saturday That was from David again who's firming for the KFC It's got to be said and another one in here Brenna that we missed in the basketball one Which hasn't got a name on it. I think it says as a non-for-profit business. What is the investment? The someone and the MBL is making into the jack jumpers high performance And which is a good question as I said the the AFL is paying for some of the Tasmanian Ten million. Yeah, so what what is the NBA be interesting to know? Who questioned in that we're gonna get to hockey talk though Tim because this man's been waiting very patiently as we've chased our tail Running late this morning Tim strap the coach of the Tazzy Tigers women's team. Welcome to SCN Tazzy breakfast Tim Thanks for having me boys good to talk to you mates. Obviously big day yesterday with the squad being announced for your women's team We've got a co-coach this year along with Susan Brooks. How's it all shaping up? Yeah, shaping really well and I think the addition of Sue is really important You know, we want to encourage females to be coaching in the sport So she's got a great background in coaching. She's gonna be a good asset for the team Tim we had Sue in the studio not so long ago actually and I asked her then I don't think you'd start at how is the dynamic of the the co-coaching who's who's sort of in charge or have you divvied up Responsibilities and just stay in your lane. Yeah, we're we are divvying up responsibilities I would love to see Sue take more of the reins over time as she builds confidence She's very well organized and she'll have those girls playing well. Absolutely now Let's look at your squad because obviously headline by Maddy Brooks who's a traveling reserve to the Olympics, which is so exciting But you've got some some big overseas signings as well this year to complement the local group Yeah, we have what Maddy coming back from the Olympics with that experience will help our group I think having these imports and finally we've got some really good quality imports Not that the girls haven't been good in the past But we're talking about two girls who are gonna play for GB at the Olympics Fiona crackles and Sarah Robinson We've got another English girl who missed Olympic selection and we're gonna Dutch defender now that helps us massively You know push for success and some points crackles Is it good last night was in charge of those team who goes out and does your overseas recruiting and what are you looking for? Yeah, it was more more on me this year and to be honest really we had Them come to us. I think the best thing about the hockey one league so far is it's grown so much We're actually getting girls from overseas putting their hand up and males to want to come and play in the league And most of the franchises now have a big import at least Didn't get a win last year confident that will change in 2024. Yeah, I mean, I hope so I mean we just can't keep losing and this is the point of bringing quality imports in to help our young girls not only Play better, but actually realize they the level they need to get to could to compete And that's why we're bringing them in and I think yeah, I mean, I think we can win. I hope so. We're not in it to participate What have you learned from last year man? I know that it was called a cultural rebuild from the organization Obviously got a lot of young players got some opportunities last year now add some some senior players But what are the takings from from last season? I think to stay in games longer I mean, we're up in Brisbane. We were Three one up in with 11 minutes to go in the third quarter and you get double goals in hockey one and we ended up losing eight nine three So we're talking about 15 minutes plus some change We just need to stay in games longer and if we can do that We will start to get results final series obviously in Hobart this year Which is really exciting any added pressure to to deliver on performance to try and get in that top four I think there's always pressure for both us and the men's team I think it'll be amazing and the crowd in Tassie and I've been to a lot of national championships around the country and This is the best crowd. They come out and support. So it would be fantastic to have both teams in Yeah, hopefully they do and I'm sure the Tassie people will support it now It's been a huge couple of weeks for Maddie Brooke. She heads over to Japan as a reserve for the hockey roots France Tim France. Oh, we'll have a look at the Olympics. I've been living on a lot of thought they might have been going on a pre tour Now that they might can you read that Brent turn you ask? Oh, no, is he has he actually put Japan ready? Can you go through there is I'm trying to find it? down the bottom oh Hey, so There's no pre tour to Japan No, no, there's straight some Olympics. No, there's straight to Paris Just Come from me when was the what I've worked with Tim Payne Tim Strapper is that you do not make this man look foolish Which what Hamish just done the marks yours Hamish What's happened? They're very sorry Tim, please forgive me No problems at all. I actually Ben I was going with such confidence because I thought I maybe it's doing a little bit of a pre tour No, no, she's headed over to Paris But may how proud of you how proud of her are you and all that she's accomplished and it must be a great I suppose role model or example for the other young girls in the team that things can improve and you can go to the next level Yeah, it's not often that you develop in sport in this linear fashion that Maddie has and you know Like we're all incredibly proud of her and she's doing really well and she's only get better from here And I think you touch Tim on the important thing is the young girls coming through have actually someone To look up to and we had a massive gap before Maddie and we need that We want our young hockey girls aspiring to play for the hockey ruse and and it can be done by by playing and staying in a small State like Tasmania And we've seen that with Ed haven't we? Sorry, we've seen that in the men's we've always punched above our weight and we've had Edi Ocken and is that shining light an example for people to follow? Yeah, yeah, absolutely And yeah, Susan and a family heading over to watch Maddie, which is so exciting must be such a proud moment for them Yeah, so he's leaving at the great time because she's stitching me up for the next four weeks to take training But yeah, no, she'll she'll have a great time over there and just quickly get to a break But oh, you got him. I was just gonna ask you soo go into the pre tournament in Japan Just quick on Edi Ocken and because we're just talking off air. Can you get to LA? Do you think in 2028? You wouldn't really met with it. You wouldn't really out. Yeah, you wouldn't really Maddie could get there. Absolutely Hey, good luck mate moving forward big hockey one season coming up memberships available to through hockey Tasmanian make sure you support the Tassie Tigers bit Tim strap good to see in the studio. Thanks for joining us, mate Thanks for having me. We're off to our final break of the morning It's breakfast powered by Kubota take on any job with Kubota's range of tractors miles and utility vehicles The hardcore's open line still open for a couple of final texts. Oh four three seven double five two five three five
