Payne and Brent Costello it's time now to welcome in our next guest and he joins us live from the United States of America and we appreciate it because it's the start of his last week of holidays it's JJ's championship winning coach Scott Roth thanks for joining us coach hey guys what's happening we're going well thank you coach first of all congratulations to you because Jack McVay and Will Magna have made the boomers squad and knew yourself have played such a big role in that so well down to you and all of your coaching staff you must be enormously proud yeah obviously it's a huge thing for both those two guys on you know two separate types of journeys that started with us three years ago and it's a it's a big moment for our organization it's a really a big moment for my coaches who spend an enormous amount of time with those guys and and really a big shout out to you know Ryan Caro our physio and Harrison Gillette our strength and conditioning coach in regards to Magna and his recovery and they have a lot to be proud of and that and it's something great for the state and our organization to have two Olympic athletes that are with the jack jumpers now and then Ryan Ryan carols with them as a physio for the boomer so it's a big moment we're really really excited and then when they release the video them the other day of them getting a little undercover kind of video with them finding out it was quite emotional for me to watch those two guys and I think you know the thing that resounded to me with the first thing out of you know Will's mouth was the jack make it and it's really what we've tried to build here about being self-listened and next man up and it's never about you and on those words came out of a magnate mouth that really hit me in the heart it was a beautiful moment Scott no doubt about that and a huge tick for what you guys have been able to build it the jack jumpers now I know you've got a huge amount of belief in in both those players at MBL level but did you were you confident that they would both make the final cut of 12 well I think you know no one's going to be happy and then in this outcome and obviously there's been a lot of banter going on in the last 24 or 36 hours and someone's going to get their feelings heard or the sizzants have to be made and I really thought they would both make it to be honest with you because they're just team guys and they can fit in anywhere and they don't need the you know need the ego of having to really be on the court and play other than the fact that they're going to be ready all the time and I think at this their work ethic and you know Jack's personality or something that it's just hard not to get passed and you fall in love with the way they go about their business and Brian had tough decisions to make and those are are painful decisions too and he he brought together what he thought was the best team that he can coach and I was very confident those guys were going to get a very very good look and a good chance and Brian touched me afterwards that what a great bunch of human beings those two guys were on great teammates and we're really thrilled to have my roster and just a big shout out to my coaches and the work they've done with them over the last three years yeah I know you're pretty tight with Brian Scott so did he reach out to you before the process as well and to get some some intel I suppose on both of those pies no you know I try to stay as far away from that kind of stuff as possible I think your work speaks for itself and you know we don't do a lot of talking in in the Jack Jumpers organization as far as a lot of boasting or anything I just we just come down and do the work and if you appreciate what we're doing it'll take care of itself and you know they they had a spectacular run at the end of the season and Jack had a spectacular season I mean Jesus is his list of what he's accomplished MVP of the team MVP of the finals second team MBL gets married a shot of a lifetime and now he's Olympic I mean that's a storybook in itself so the work they were doing could not not be noticed and Brian probably you know was watching it all the way through and do what they he was gonna get two quality guys coming in there to work yeah it's got now Jack you just said it then Jack's bit more of a storybook dream come true hard work story which has been awesome but Will doesn't get as much I guess not credit but I mean he's had a different way of getting there as he had some big setbacks he's had some bad injuries over the last three or four years and he's just stuck at it and and also really deserves this opportunity yeah I think it said in the beginning you know there's two different pathways for both his guys Jack was a guy that you know was kind of taking off the heap of a team that really weren't very interested in them other than maybe he could finish out the rosters in some areas and I just saw him in a completely different way and his three years of growth had been amazing and then Magna he came in with you know oozing with talent but unfortunately just you know time after time these injuries kept sending him back and he really went through a very tough tough stretch every time he got hurt because he was just thinking about turning the corner and the fight that he did in the last two or three years and again with Ryan Carroll and Harrison Gillette the work they've done with him to get him back on his feet you know I told those guys yesterday and a email that they take as much credit as anyone in our organization of getting a will up and running him it's just been a long grind for him but the character and the toughness and the mentality he has with the grit and grind of what we do he just persevered and he's a story in himself of just not getting up and continuing the fight his way through it takes in here on the hardcore it's open line this morning hardcore results for you it says coach Roth thank you for embracing Tasmania and making the entire state feel a valued part of an unforgettable journey these last three years champions on and off the court go Jackie's that is from Adam on the hardcore it's open one this morning hey you're looking forward to getting home we like to call it home for you now it's pretty cold here at the moment you're probably sunning yourself over there in in Florida but you're back here in a weeks told my understand you know I'm back on the on the 16th I'm excited to get back and get going I'm super motivated I'm really excited to get back with the coaches and start to have our meetings to get this thing up and going again and we have a lot of things to accomplish and things to work through and it should be a really quite interesting season again but I'm extremely extremely motivated I'm ready to get back I'm ready to get going and yeah I just can't wait and you know the weather I think pain you was saying something the other day I heard but I always get a kick when they talk about the weather when it's one degree different in Melbourne and in Tasmania you're freezing but Melbourne you're somehow warmer what it is at the end of the day you know I always say the sun doesn't sign in the gym so you don't have to worry about weather and you just you just go about your business and I'm ready to get a little cold good absolutely and and Scott little thing probably hasn't got as many accolades my joke dang is he's also off to the limb the Olympics for the first time he'll be representing South Sudan so again another huge accomplishment and tick for the jack jumpers yeah the trifecta for us to have three guys represented is that official that you heard that or because I took them a joke yesterday and wasn't quite as if Tony's broken the news has he like you heard it here first from Jaime Spence goodness well if it is it's close I know that I talked to him yesterday and he was down the 15 was a cut line and they were about make some more cuts and he felt good to worry with that but you know that three players in and you know but just another completely different story that's been amazing of no one wanted him last year and you know the impact you've had with us has been incredible we wouldn't be sitting with the championship trophy if it weren't two of his games in the in the finals and if he does get on there and it is finalized yeah it's a trifecta for the for the jack jumpers and a couple of quick ones before let you go high performance center I think I think everyone was a little worried you'd come back and we'd have no news are you comfortable with the hard performance center at kimber's app I'm comfortable where it's at I'm not comfortable until I see a bulldozer or some whole being or materials being delivered but I'm comfortable I think it's a great location a really really good location but until I see some dirt moved and something actually transpiring then I can get a little bit excited you know this is something again that hopefully won't take very long you know if you built that square box just about anywhere else in the world it would take just under a year to get something as simple as that done but for whatever reason it is what it is but until I see some dirt moved or bulldozer or something then I can get really excited and we've had a few texts about the the big period you have coming up obviously we're gonna have some pre-season games on the northwest coast you're gonna be going to the MBL Blitz then you're gonna be going to Singapore for the Intercontinental Cup and then straight to Perth I believe around one I know you don't like talking about you know busy schedules and travel and things like that but a lot of our listeners are interested in how you'll handle that little period yeah so I think for me we'll go up to the northwest to do on two exhibition games and we'll probably won't play some of our guys at that point you know Jack and Will get back those guys probably would not play in those games up there you know ultimately for me is we go to play to win wherever we go to play it doesn't matter what kind of the year or who we're playing or if it's exhibition or we're just getting ready to go winning is winning and losing is losing but we'll be smart about what we do and you know ultimately for me is can we come out the other side of Singapore healthy going into the season that's my main concern you know I want to go and obviously play well in those places but ultimately how we manage guys minutes and what we end up doing is somewhat to be seen yet I have some ideas but in general the big goal for me is to come out of the other side of Singapore with a healthy roster going down in the in the perf to start the season and Scott just following your socials a little bit why you've been on holidays looks like you've been doing a lot of fishing you've been catching much or not well I only was fishing there with my daughter up in in the bush and quarterback in a really very remote area with her you know my family's actually been going up there for most 90 years and she has never been up there and I had been up there for about six years and it was really a emotional bonding for me would be with her up there where my mom and dad walked around and fishing and it's just so remote and you just away from everything and we had a great six or seven days up there fishing and it was just an amazing amazing time to be up there and that's my fishing for the summer and you know I'm back to work here and having zoons and getting ready and I have a couple of zoons later today with the coaches and and we'll get ready to go and I'm excited to get back we're excited to have you back and we'll look forward to getting in the studio for a bit of an extended chat once you do it'd be great to see you and have a longer conversation because there's so much we could talk to you about but thanks so much for
