Honestly, when I started this, I thought I'd only have to do like four of these. I mean, it's unlimited to premium wireless for $15 a month. How are there still people paying two or three times that much? I'm sorry, I shouldn't be victim blaming here. Give it a try at midmobile.com/save, whenever you're ready. >> $45 up from payment equivalent to $15 per month. New customers on first three month plan only, taxes and fees extra. >> Speed slower about 40 gigabytes of city tales. >> Catherine, you can stop texting or accept your apology. I know you got the day wrong for the devil's advocate, but I completely understand was it slipped into your mind and apology, no problem. Another texting here, which I thought was rather interesting, Tim. Where's it going? Is it going right down the bottom? Tim, let's go on. >> Which one? Hey boys. >> Oh, here we go. Yeah, hey boys. Do you know whether the Clarence community made any noise when the two retirement villages were built on the old Rosney golf course, it would be interesting to know. >> Oh, I don't think they did. >> I don't remember either. >> And even this whole parklands thing, I can get it, but it has been a golf course for how long? Wasn't that one of the oldest? >> Yeah, it's been there for a long time. That text that makes a very good point. >> That person. >> Do you think this is the community versus the AFL? >> VCs, like one of our listeners messaged in last week, if we are to build a high performance center for footy, one for basketball, another one for cricket, we need money in Tasmania for the high performance anti-everything, because we do it better than anyone. >> One person that knows a lot about high performance centers, he uses the money in Brisbane for a few years when he was at the Brisbane Lions is the coach of our state footy team, Aaron Cornelia. So he joins us. >> And he joins us. >> He joins us. >> On the line, part of the SCN family as well. G'day, ace. >> Good morning, boys. How are we going? >> Good. I was working this morning. We had you lined up a few weeks ago, and you had a workplace incident you had to attend to. >> Yeah, made a little bit going on, so unfortunately I won't get that on that day, but I don't have any of you guys now. >> Ace final team was announced yesterday, how hard was it for you to cut that initial squad down to 23? >> Yeah, look, man, I've got a few text messages when I got the roll, I've got one off pace, he's still paying, he's trying to get a game. >> [LAUGH] >> Well, I've got the jumper on the spawning house. >> Yeah, that's what I think that was in the text that you bring your own jumper. >> Yeah. >> It's been quite challenging, man. We were speaking about it only on Wednesday night of our final train, and we did have 48, but we've got fantastic talent in the state, and we wanted to get across all the regions to give guys opportunity. So with a new program that's happening in the multiple games in the next couple of years, we were excited to get as few guys in and let them see what the level made it to be, I think being able to finish the last lot that the intensity of training's been at a high level, and gave guys some opportunities, and unfortunately, when we had to make those cuts, it was only positive feedback from the playing players that they really enjoyed the experience. So look, it has been a challenge, there's some really good guys that are in the state. Unfortunately, it's the few of those guys missed out, because other guys were ahead of us, so that was probably the hardest message that we had to give that wasn't necessarily the way they were playing, or their inability to play it, so that we had a couple of guys ahead, but a good position to be in. Now, have you gone anywhere to watch any football besides Utah Stadium? Nine of you 23 are out of North Launceston teammates. Oh, look, the best team in the state, Brenton, have been for a long time, but they played the Super Grand Authority that we're hoping to replicate in Queensland, but to accredit to those guys, it's some really good players, and they're in some really good form. Yeah, Brent, I even found myself at one stage watching Boston vs Mount Pleasant on a weekend. I've been alive. Very good mate. Now, the team itself is quite youthful, is that a focus of yours deliberately in selection? Oh, as I mentioned, we've got a few guys coming up, so we can keep this group together. Obviously, we're not 100% sure what the structure of football looks like next year, but if we can keep this group together, yeah, we've gone for a bit of youth, and hopefully they've got a few guys can build the core of our state side, or have been state side over the next coming years. How much of this team was picked on where you'll be playing in the ground and the conditions ace, and do you expect it to change too much for this next game you've got coming up in July, back here at home? Yeah, look, the conditions obviously did play a big role. Queensland put his plate on top of the ground, right so fast, and even though the ground's only three metres bigger than North Hobart, it'll still be a bit of an outside game. So yeah, we did select players based on that, but having said that, a lot of these players are in really good form in the two, so anyway, so yeah, we'll adjust that probably, we don't know when we come to this next game, it's played on new tabs, and we know where the conditions can be like there, so yeah, we'll take that as a case by case thing. Mate, the game's obviously up in Queensland, a lot warmer than what the Taziboys would have been used to. How do we get them ready for those type of conditions, or is it just, we've just got to get on with it and guts it out and see how we go? Yeah, it's a good point, I think you'd probably know about playing in different conditions better than anyone playing it, so yeah, it's going to be a bit of a challenge, so I think I watched the game last weekend, team reverse going all game, I'm pretty sure it was snowing until now. We thought these guys are going to be playing next week at 20-30, great hits, so I'm pretty sure we'll pack the sunscreen, but our fitness coach, Sammy Ye, he's done a fantastic job preparing these guys around what they deserve, but I'm sure there'll be some little cramp probably back in the game, because the service energy and the heat, but yeah, look, it's going to be 23 degrees up there, we get up today, guys, get a quamatose at the oval and have a look at the conditions, as long as they look after themselves, and as we know, they're the better players in the state, so they understand what they need to prepare. Aaron Cornelis is the coach of our state footy team playing Queensland tomorrow up on the Gold Coast, also part of the AFL nation call team here on SCN Tazibs, well, I say you enjoy the experience so far, your first time coaching a state team, you obviously coach Glenn Orkey to a flag back in the day, but a different sort of role for you and bringing people together from across the state. Yeah, I've been very lucky, very hard to be a part of it, being fixed almost now, and playing, so yeah, every time to be involved in Tasmania football at this level is a privilege to be able to coach it on very proud of that fact, and I hope we'll be able to put our best foot forward as a group, and yeah, it's been great bringing everyone across it, but the best part of our tag here, if you know, some of the better players or people involve you, you get to see across each other's paths a lot, so yeah, that part of it's been exciting and to learn off the players, learn off the other coaches as well, it's just hopefully only making me better as I continue on my football coaching journey. Ace, have you had a chance to have much of a look at Queensland, or in these sort of one-off games to just focus more on what you can do? No, we've got Peter Ryan, who coaches Clarence and Coach, who are in Queensland for a long period of time, and I had the privilege of being up there, involved in Southport as well, so we've definitely had guys look at the players for us, and we've watched the vision, but yeah, they've got key players that we probably need to make sure we keep our eye on, but at the end of the day, the ref games, you know, about getting our processes right, and if we bring the right attitude and play the right way, that'll hold us a good set for the end result, so yeah, we are aware of the opposition, but at the end of the day, we've got the best players in Tasmania, and we make sure we give those guys all the tools that they need to put a good performance in, hopefully we get the win. And some Tasmanians on the opposition team too, we mentioned at the start of the show, Adrian Williams, Brandon Batchelor, Bayley Gordon, and Matt Dorn, all in them are on tomorrow, Ace, you'd like them on your team, would you, if you had the chance? No, they can stay on the coin, Matt, it's not on very happy with who we've picked, Matt, they're not Tasmanians until after the game, so if they're pulling on the coin, they're jumpers, good luck to them. Mate, have you had any past Tasmanian footballers in to talk to your team about what it means to represent the state and pull on the map jumper? Yeah, see, Brenner, he's still leaning, he's, it must be hard to get to the airport. He wants a job! If you've got a runner! Yeah, that's a great point, and one thing that, as I mentioned earlier, a privilege to play with Tasmania, but the probably the thing that is major is what I'm just thinking about, the guys that have won the map, that pay to hug the Bulldogs, they sort the guys, the benches, the rewolds, all those guys that have come before us, so, you know, we're only leaving a footprint as a small group this year, but yeah, we've got the, we're very lucky to have Alex Lynch come down to our captains run on the coast this afternoon, and I believe Locky Welles come down through the jumper presentation, but there's a lot of players, you know, they get messages and receive messages from past players, and we've got a bit of an exercise that I asked them to do on Wednesday night, which was contact someone that's played for Tasmania and asked them what it meant for them to play for the map, so I'd be interested to hear a few stories that are out of our meeting, but that's one thing that Tasmania's got, it's a lot of history, and we're very proud about our jumper and representing the state. Absolutely. That's awesome. How good is that? I'd love to be there this afternoon. I asked you before you let me go, Isis, I'm interested in the hierarchy here at the airport this morning, and who's at what end of the play, I think the coach should be up the front, I think the head of AFL-TASM might be on the plane, so I'm just wondering, Isis, have you checked in yet, and what's your ticket say? Yeah, I've checked in, but I'm in '79, but I think Gilly actually turned up in a poll at Duke this morning. I might be stuck in. I'm not sure how he's pulled that one, but not any time you're involved in these programs, it's a privilege, and I thought that has a bit of tremendous support, and they come along and the women side and ourselves hope to be put up a good showing and represent ourselves as well. This is the start of a bit of a journey, because we play the two games this year, and hopefully we play two or more next year, so yeah, keeping our group together and doing the right thing, and if that means that Gilly's flying the plane, then Gilly can fly the plane. Oh, he just pitched him in his captain's suit. Hey mate, good luck, it's going to be awesome. We can't wait to watch it, and obviously if you can't get it, there will be live strength tomorrow afternoon as well, which is magnificent for all of us back here in Tassie. Good luck, Ace. Go get him, and we'll talk to you soon here on SCN Tassie Breakfast. Yeah, thanks, Tony, thanks for coming out, go Tassie. All the best.
