(upbeat music) Hello and welcome to Disc Golf Daily, the podcast that tries to catch you up on all things Disc Golf in eight to 10 minutes or so. I'm Brian, Papa Wolf, Frawley, and I'm excited to talk to you about the Disc Golf Pro Tour Swedish Open presented by Costa Plus. That happened on the other side of the world to us here in the United States in Boros, Sweden. Over the weekend, we have major storylines, and FPO and MPO, had to do a good old fashioned coin flip to see which one I wanted to go with first, but I gotta read a stat. I'm gonna jump the gun. Thanks to our friends at Stat Mando for this one, Silver Serenen wins the Swedish Open her fifth consecutive victory. Two Disc Golf Pro Tours and three Disc Golf Pro Tour and Silver's, which are still happening in Europe over there. That is five in a row tying Paige Pierce for second longest and also losing to Paige Pierce for second longest, 'cause Paige has the first with seven in a row and 17 and 18, and then Paige again has the second with five in a row. Now with Silver having second with five in a row as well, Paige did that back in 2019. But go into the action after James won, or James, we'll get to him in a second after day one. In Sweden, we had Silver Serenen on the top card in second place with Evelina Solonin and a very familiar name, Ella Hanson, in fourth place on that card after day one. But first place is a new name for me, and I'll try to say it as well as the announcers did over the weekend, but Maria, LD, Christian Nautitor, was in first place and she shot a 1,400 round minus five. New name for me to learn about a person from Iceland, super cool to watch her play. After day two, we saw a familiar name, Henna Blumroose shoot the hot round of the day, a 10/22 rated minus seven to jump up to first tying Silver Serenen with Maria in third and Ella Hanson still in fourth place. Going into the final round, we saw some weather, gotta say. Although it's the shortest course on tour, definitely brought us a lot of excitement. Those OB lines, the slippery rocks. There was a lot going on, on that course, and at the end of the day, we already said, Silver Serenen shoots another 1,000 rated round to win her fifth in a row. This is super impressive stuff. Henna Blumroose, Ella Hanson and Maria Brown out your top four on that card. Congrats to Silver Serenen. Really excited to see what she does next in her next upcoming event, which would be the finished National Disc Golf Championships next or this week. And then Crockle opened a Disc Golf Pro to her event the week after. Very exciting stuff. Congrats to her. That is something that we could get to talk from a history standpoint more about. But going on this weekend, we had another history happening event, and we'll get to that in a minute. But after day one, we saw a very familiar name on the MPO side, a top, Paul McBeth shooting a minus nine 10, 60 rated round joins Jakob Knopepek, Roland Kerr, who all shot a minus three with James Prakter with a minus eight on your lead car going into round two, and after round two, we saw James Prakter throw a minus nine down, besting his score from day one to give himself a minus 17 after two rounds with Dennis Augustin shooting the hottest round of the day at minus 10, jumping up to second place. Ty and Roland Kerr and E2, Tom and N, jumps up into fourth place Ty with Paul McBeth as well. Sunday didn't maybe necessarily give us a ton of drama, but it did fill my heart with joy to see James Prakter shoot another great round, minus seven, giving himself his first elite series victory on the Disc Golf Pro to her claps to James. I think you can tell a lot about who James is as a human when you saw the excitement of his travel buddies there, Ella Hansen and James and Eric Oakley hug him and embrace him after that win right away. It made me feel very happy for him, and I don't have any personal connection with James. I met him once for about 10 minutes. He was really nice too, but that's it. I don't throw any of this stuff. I'm not buying a James Prakter jersey, but I might now because the way he looked and the way he spoke after that when it's hard not to want to cheer for a guy like that. Congrats to him, congrats for saying it, that he didn't want to come all the way over across the pond to not try to do his best and play his best golf. Super excited for him, congrats as he rolls through the next couple weeks. I know he's got next week off. They set on the broadcast. Broadcast note, I thought it was really good. Great job by the team doing it over there. Really cool different angle changes and camera shots from on the ground crew, if you will, but we can get into that another time. Really enjoy that. Going back to the MPO finish. Laurie Vilman and Joseph Anderson minus nine eaches to go to second place, 21 over tying Paul McBath with that second place as well. Paul did go a little beast mode, birding eight of the final nine. Unfortunately, he just had to even front nine, not giving him enough space to come back. So James Prakter minus 24. Murray, Joseph, and Paul at minus 21. Proctor even bogeyed that last hole, still to secure that one. So congrats to James. (upbeat music) What's cool about the events happening on the other side of the world? Disc Golf Pro Tour has updated your standings already with this past week's events. Let's start with FPO. Avelina shoots back up into first place, doing a little lead frog since Owen, Holland, and Missy were not in this event. But our fifth place person, Ella Hanson, expands her lead on Kristin Tatar, now having more than a hundred points between the fifth and sixth place position. Other names to note that did big jumps, obviously, Hannah Bloomrose, ID Laini, Lecky Lorentzen, and of course, the winner getting a hundred points, silver, siren, and big jumps, a lot of changes on the FPO side inside that top 15 of the Disc Golf Pro Tour standings. On the FPO side, we saw some familiar names at the top, get some points, like Ricky Wysocki making a little bit of a jump over Nikolas, who also got some points. So that's your number two and your number three. Ganber's still atop our squad, not playing this week. Calvin Heimberg finished just inside the cash line, only getting four points on this first event over in Europe this year. Joseph Anderson, aka Joey Buckets, since he got second, snagged himself 76 points, making sure he jumped up big time into there, as well as Paul McBeth making a healthy jump, getting those 76 points, which ends up being his third highest of the year so far, I believe. So congrats to all those players, super cool stuff. When it comes to the course, as previously mentioned, it was the shortest course that we've seen yet on tour this year. But with the Obies and the straight uphills and straight downhills, we saw a lot of excitement. I personally enjoy how close the Obies were around the green. I thought that that brought a lot of excitement into the approach game and those gettable par threes. We saw a lot of circle two or circle one and two putts to save par. So congrats to all the players who made the trip over to there. And thanks for tuning in.
