The Red Sox dropped their series opener at Fenway Park Friday night with an 8-1 setback to the Yankees. Alex Verdugo's return to Fenway was a successful one. Verdugo hit a 2-R Home Run off losing pitcher Brayan Bello and he also had an RBI Double and RBI Single in the win.

The Red Sox dropped their series opener at Fenway Park Friday night with an 8-1 setback to the Yankees. Alex Verdugo's return to Fenway was a successful one. Verdugo hit a 2-R Home Run off losing pitcher Brayan Bello and he also had an RBI Double and RBI Single in the win. Bello did not get passed the 5th inning for the second straight outing and he took the loss. Red Sox struck out 14 times in falling back to .500. Tyler O'Neil went 0-for-5 with 4 strikeouts. Red Sox left 11 runners on base and went 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Jarren Duran was on base three times with a single and a pair of walks. Red Sox managed only 5 hits
