All this college football talk, we've got week eight team of the NFL on the horizon as well and a couple more tickets to be punched to the NFL playoffs. What about frauds when the NFL playoffs finally get started? We'll power rank our biggest NFL playoff frauds at the top of the third and final hour here on bet QL daily alongside Kate Constable. I'm Chris Mack and it is January 1st. So happy new year to you wherever you may be celebrating live coast to coast on the bet QL network. We got you covered for all of the NFL week 18 action. Some interesting line moves continuing on a couple of games out west. We'll get into that a little bit later as well. Of course, three massive college football playoff quarter final games to be played today in Atlanta, in Southern California and in New Orleans. By the way, I know it's it's more of a newsy thing but you know the breaking news in New Orleans this morning, we hope everyone ends up being okay. It sounds like it was a bit of a tragic circumstance around three, four o'clock this morning, eastern time in New Orleans. Again, breaking news, you can get that inside your Odyssey app if you're really curious about what's going on in New Orleans this morning but I don't think that will affect the sugar bowl at all hopefully later this evening between Georgia and Notre Dame. We'll get into that Ohio State, Oregon, Texas Arizona state with our friend PJ Glasser of send it in weekdays one eastern on the bet QL network inside the betting lines every weekend as well at PJ Glasser nine on X. You can follow him there and page first thing I got to ask, you're tied yesterday. Yeah, that was, that was rough. She again yesterday plus the points I bet a money line too just because Bama all year has been a team that's been match up dependent like when they play a team defensively that can take away their run and then offensively wants to muck it up and just chew clock and just make it physical at the line of scrimmage. Those are the kind of games that they've lost. You know, Tennessee was a low scoring game. Tennessee did a great job against Milro. Vanderbilt did a great job against Milro and stopping him in the run game. Oklahoma was a sloppy game and like I just knew that the Michigan game would be the same thing. So and you always had to question the motivation, right? Like after the Georgia win, Bama probably thought they'd at least be in the playoff if not competing for the SEC, competing for a national title. Now you're playing, you know, in this bowl game and I think they probably, you know, were motivated yesterday and I think all those turnovers early on kind of took the air out of the balloon and then they just they couldn't get anything going offensively. So it was a brutal watch yesterday and Kellen DeBore, it's going to be a big season form next year. If they don't make the playoff, his seat's going to be pretty hot. Yeah, tough and one thing to follow up, Nick Saban and even tougher to start, Kellen DeBore's tenure with the season they had this year. So they're probably thankful that it's 20, 25. They can turn the page on a new year. PJ Penn State turning the page, they're going to the quarterfinals last night. Did you expect Penn State to be able to shut Ash and Gente down in the manner that they did last night? I did, Kate, because I thought for two weeks, Penn State, you know, all they heard was Ash and Gente, Ash and Gente. And I think they were looking forward to the opportunity of going up against them. And I think you saw that yesterday, really the only like run that he broke was on that third and 17 where Penn State was fully expecting a pass and they kind of hit him with the draw and he broke one for 20 yards. But outside of that, Penn State's defense did a really good job. Abdul Carter, they're going to need him in the next game because the pass rush was nowhere near what it was when he was off the field. But I thought Penn State's defense did what what I thought it would do. Offense is still inconsistent, you know, and also the game plan and the play calling was like really head scratching. First two drives go right down the field, nice run of a nice mix of run and pass and they're like gash and Boise on the ground. Then they like went away from that and they weren't running the ball nearly as much as they should have and they kept hanging boy, kept letting Boise hang around in the game. So that was a little bit puzzling. But but Penn State was was the better team. Their run defense won them the game because they made Boise one-dimensional. But that was my big takeaway was like Penn State, I mean, especially in the next round against Notre Dame or Georgia. Like if you're able to run the ball and it's effective, don't don't go away from it. Like continue to run the ball. So that was kind of my big takeaway from yesterday was was the fact that they really that game shouldn't have been as close as it was and Penn State kind of let Boise hang around. Yeah, you know, we were talking about that actually before you jumped on PJ just, you know, Andy Kotal Nikki has done a really nice job coordinating the offense for Penn State this year. But there have been times where he needed to get in his bag a little bit more much the way he did that. You know, I think back to the opening drive against USC at the Coliseum out in LA earlier this year, all over the place Tyler Warren lining up in six different positions, all this kind of stuff. And then there were times where he needed to sort of take a step back and simplify. And it felt like he was trying to do a little too much with the game plan last night when like you said, it was laid out in front of him that they just needed to lean on Allen and Singleton and run the ball and simplify the game plan. Georgia or Notre Dame is Penn State favored against either one of these two going into the orange ball. So the look ahead lines that I was seeing was if it's Notre Dame, the Irish are favored by one and a half. If it's Georgia, then the Bulldogs are favored by two and a half. I think if Notre Dame beats Georgia though, then the perception around Notre Dame is going to change and we're going to look at Notre Dame differently where I think they'd also be like a two and a half three point favorite. So my guess is regardless of who wins tonight, I think Penn State's going to be like a three point dog, which which feels about right. And then obviously, as you know, Chris, the whole talk for the next week is going to be about Ken Franklin win the big one because he was favored against SMU and Boise and like he was supposed to win those games and he was like a nine 11 point favorite in those games. And that's tends to be the range where Franklin dominates. It's these kind of games against the bigger teams when it's a close spread and he's an underdog. Can he win that kind of game? So we will see. I actually think the spot is going to be good for Penn State because Ole Miss and Bama, the only two teams to beat Georgia this year, lost the following week and had the Georgia hangover. So I think that could be very real for Notre Dame if they go up against Penn State. And then on the flip side, if you're Georgia, it's like everybody is going to be betting Georgia against Penn State, right? It's like Franklin in a big game against Kirby, he's like, who's going to like Penn State in that game? So I think if it's Notre Dame, it could be really interesting from kind of the Georgia hangover aspect. And then if it's Penn State and Georgia, that's just kind of your classic like, nobody's going to like Penn State, nobody's given them a chance and can they finally knock off one of these bigger schools. All right, so PJ, just within the last, I don't know, 20 minutes or so, our line's moving in favor of Notre Dame. It's pretty much a pick-up right now. What's going on in this game? Well, what's going to happen? You tell me. Kate, I love Notre Dame. It's one of my favorite bets of, uh, of ball season. Guys, I think this game, we were just talking about Michigan and Bama to kick off the, uh, to kick off the segment. I think this game is exactly like the Rose Bowl from last season. The total's the same at 45 and a half. The spread is pretty much a pick-up like it was in the Rose Bowl last year. And Georgia is essentially Alabama. They've been there, done that. And Michigan, you know, like, people don't realize, Harbaugh hadn't won a playoff game before he beat Bama and then he beat Washington last year and Notre Dame's obviously still searching for that big win. So from that standpoint, I think the game is very similar. And I think how that game played out last year, where if it was a defensive slug fest, it went to overtime. It was a great game. I think we could see something very similar tonight. For me, it's, it's all about the matchup. And Georgia, it's very clear the teams that have given them trouble this season have all had a common denominator in terms of they had a mobile quarterback and Georgia struggles with mobile quarterback. So I went back and looked in this season, right? Georgia had two losses, Bama Ole Miss, and then Georgia Tech should have beaten them. They took them to eight over times. Haynes King had 587 rushing yards this year. He had his season high against Georgia with 110. Jayla Millrow had 719 rushing yards this year. He had 117 against Georgia, his second highest. And then Jackson Dart for Ole Miss had 450 rushing yards this year. He had 50 against Georgia. That was his third highest of the season. And if you guys remember in that game, Dart got hurt on the first series. So he wasn't 100% and he was still able to run for 50 yards. Well, now enters Riley Leonard, who has 751 rushing yards on the season. And this is why I love Notre Dame because the game plan should be really simple. You run your quarterback. That's what it's all about. So I'm looking at his rushing prop tonight. Is it 40 and a half? I love the over there. Anytime touchdowns plus 145. I love that as well. If for people out there, like me that like Notre Dame, if they're going to win this game, it's going to be because they're able to run the football with Riley Leonard. So, you know, I sprinkled Notre Dame to win the championship when the bracket came out at 10 to 1 knowing obviously they'd had to go through Georgia. And it was because I love their matchup against the Bulldogs and you're starting to see some money coming in on Notre Dame. And I agree with it. I think there, I honestly think they're the better team. And I think that the matchup just really favors them too. So I like the Irish today. What about the total on this one, PJ? Because I've loved the under from the very start even when it was down around 42 42 and a half. It's climbed throughout the week. It's up to 45 and a half this morning. When I obviously am still going to slam the under on Georgia Notre Dame is the movement telling us that we should be looking at maybe something different in this one is Gunnar Stockton going to produce more for the Bulldogs on offense. Does Kirby open things up? Maybe I know we've seen the development of Leonard as a as a dual threat quarterback. He's been able to throw much more in the second half of the season. What do you think about the total? I like the under 45 and a half. I like the first half under two at 21 and a half. If you exclude Alabama, Kirby in these big games, his DNA is he really likes to lean on his defense. He really likes to play lower scoring games. You've seen that in both matchups this season with Texas. You saw an under against Ole Miss. And I think this game against Notre Dame is going to be another under two. Two good defenses, two physical teams and Georgia doesn't want to lose the game with Gunnar Stockton. I think they're going to ease him into this game. They're going to run the ball. They're going to make it easy, efficient throws. Notre Dame, same thing. They don't want to trail and get too far behind and try to play catch up against his Georgia defense. And like I mentioned, their game plan should be running the ball with Riley Leonard. So I think they have a very run heavy game plan tonight, which obviously leads to a running clock. So I like this game to be slow and sluggish early. I like a first half under. I like a full game under two. Again, the only thing that would worry me is I think this game is going to be close that I could see over time. And maybe, you know, we just get screwed that way. So I'm taking both the first half in the full game. But to me, this just feels like a 21-20, like 2017 kind of game. And I do like the other. All right, PJ, just a few minutes left. Ohio State, Oregon, we thought that we'd see those two teams meet again at some point. Thought it would probably be in the Big Ten Championship, but here we are in the playoff now. Ohio State lay in two and a half. Can they avenge the loss to Oregon earlier this year? I think they can. I like Ohio State. I'm just taking them on the money line though at minus 135. I mean, guys, like in sports betting, there's a saying that you bet numbers and not teams. And I think this game is just the quit essentially. You bet numbers and not teams. Looking what the line's telling you, right? You got a number one, undefeated Oregon team who be Ohio State already. They won the same conference that these two teams are in. And yet here we are. These two teams are playing again and Ohio State is favored. So I've always felt Ohio State's the best team. And I think we all kind of saw their peak against Tennessee and just how dangerous that they can be. And my thing with Oregon, and I know a lot of people like them to win the national championship and rightfully so, I just think in college football for a team to go undefeated, especially now with the expanded playoff, and you have to win even more games to win a national championship. I just think unless you're like the prohibited favorite, and you're the clear cut team to beat, and we all look at that team and say that's the team that everybody's gunning for. Unless you're like a prime saving Bama team or a prime Kirby Georgia team or Joe Burrows LSU team, I just think it's going to be too tough for a team to go undefeated. So the fact that Oregon's found ways to win games all year and a team hasn't beaten them. And now they got to beat this Ohio State team again. I just I think it's going to be tough. So much like the Sugar Bowl the night, I think the Rose Bowl is going to be really good. I think it's going to be close and it's going to come down to the wire. But I think the Buckeyes find a way to win. So I like Ohio State. I think it's going to be a hell of a game. I think they'll light up the scoreboard too. I love the over in that one real quick before we let you run PJ about 30 to 45 seconds on the Peach Bowl. It's a big number for Texas against Arizona State of Kam Skataboo. Can can I don't shorten the game, I guess, for Arizona State in their offense. Yeah, it is a tough game. I lean Texas. I will say, you know, in the college football playoff, it feels like all these underdogs have kind of like a lot of them don't recognize that like they're the clear underdog in this matchup. I think Dilling Hand understands that and you're going to see like ASU try some stuff like maybe some fake puns, field goals, trick plays on offense. So I can see why people would like ASU. Texas really hasn't blown too many teams out this year. I just think that Texas defense, I mean, it's a different beast than what ASU has seen all year. So I actually like the under. I think that would be my favorite play as opposed to the spread. But if I had to take a side, I would lean Texas. Number has been steady at 51 and a half really since it opened PJ.
