[music] Hello and welcome to the Hammer! I'm your host Dave, join us always by my co-hosts. Greg, how's it going guys? And Steve, heh. You're listening to us live at CFMU93.3, and you can also find us at thehammermamay.com. So it is Wednesday, August 3rd, and we're going to talk about the upcoming UFC 133, the cursed card of Rashad Evans and TRTs. That's not the only reason the card is cursed. They've also had many injuries and substitutions. Nine fights out of 11. Nine have had one of the original fights. Or not the original fights. And one fight was dropped off the card completely, the Colman event. Wow. So a bit of a disaster, but... Wait, no, you think that's a disaster. Wait, do you see the buy rate? [laughter] We will also be talking about of course Fedor and Henderson coming up later on the show, and news is always from Steve. But let us start with Rashad and Tito. Tito, he's a man of a bit of a comeback tour. He managed to take out Ryan Bader. He's a very, very big, very powerful guy for the division. Yep. He's also taking this fight on, what, three weeks notice? Yeah, he has three weeks to host for Evans, too. But it was a really... Evans always knew he was fighting, though. Yeah. Three weeks. But it's Tito's come off a fight. He's in fighting shape. Yeah, but he's in fighting shape. In fighting shape, and also the thing with Tito is that it was a very, very quick fight. It wasn't like it was a war. He went through with Bader. So it's not out of the realm of possibility for him to take this fight on three weeks notice. Now these two fought before. It was a draw the first time they did it. Evans is an extremely talented wrestler himself, but he gives up a considerable size advantage to Ortiz. He does have a significant speed advantage, and in my opinion, is the better striker. However, a lot of Evans's game is he dives in for takedowns. He dives into painting against the cage. He can't do that against a guy the size of Ortiz, who's as good of a wrestler as Ortiz is. How do you think Evans wins this fight, if he does? Well, Evans will win this fight, first of all. Second of all, I think that... I mean, I think Evans is good enough to take Ortiz down. I don't even think he'll need to do that, though, because he's a much better striker as well. I mean, there's a bunch of different ways Evans can win this fight. All he has to do is avoid going on his back. You're right. Evans is the better fighter. He is the more complete well-rounded fighter. He's obviously younger in fight years at the moment and everything, but they fought before. They fought before, and I mean, it was only a draw because Tito lost a point. And that wasn't that long ago. This was only a few years ago. I actually think that, as good as Rashad is, and he is one of the best lay heavyweights there are, I think that his strengths are something that Tito Ortiz has answers for. He's never been knocked out. He's not going to get beat up on his feet that badly, I don't think. And the rest of the counterpunch are... Ortiz is a very cautious guy. He's not particularly exposed to counterpunching. And Evans, you know, and Evans, he's been winning his fights lately by doing smart wrestling games, and you can't guarantee you can do that against Tito Ortiz. Well, the thing is, I mean, great, is he still with Jackson, or did he leave? He left. He left Jackson, but I know he's... He became a completely different fighter, and now he's so cool. Yeah, maybe his game plan will be less good as if he was still with Jackson, but still... I don't know. This is a very tough fight for me to call. I think this is a lot closer. This is going to be a lot closer fight that people are thinking. Like, I think Tito has... I can't pick Tito, but I think... I wouldn't be that surprised if he won. I don't think Evans is going to finish him, but I do think Evans is going to win by decision. I think he's good enough that he's going to be able to stay off of his back. And we don't know what Tito Ortiz is going to see. We really don't. He came out like a batter to hell against Bader, but Bader was taking that fight way too lightly, and you could tell. And that fight was over in two minutes. We've seen Tito used to be kind of legendary for having a good gas tank in that, but he gas in the forest fight. Oh, big time. On the other hand, Evans is known to be a little bit sloppy in the third round, too. That's right. Evans blows a lot of energy in the first two rounds. I'm afraid the third round of this fight will be the second forest versus Ortiz fight, where they're both kind of... The other thing is... ...winded, boring. Nothing blows your gas tank more than getting stuffed on takedowns and grappling against the cage. And I maintain you have to figure Evans is going to give up at least five inches to Ortiz and height, and probably a good 20 pounds to him in weight, which means that if you're playing on diving on the guy and hitting him against the cage, against a guy who is like Ortiz, who knows how to work the cage as well as Ortiz does. I mean, I don't like Ortiz. I can't say I'm the guy. I think he's up there with Diaz for me, but he's a very good wrestler. I think five inches is a bit of a stretch. Yeah, I think so, too. That's 6-3. Yeah, Evans is in 5-10. I think he's 5-10, 5-11. I don't know if it's exact height, but he's not that short. I honestly don't think the size difference is going to be that big in this fight. He was significantly smaller than rampages in rampages. The giant rampages. All of these are the same sizes as rampages, if not bigger. Yeah, I think when they get in the cage, I don't think it's going to be that big. This isn't a David versus Goliath match. No, it's not, but Ortiz doesn't give up that much size to Forrest. Rashad gives up a lot of size to rampage. So, I mean, Ortiz is definitely going to have a size advantage. I don't think when you're a wrestler, fighting another wrestler, size factors in. Yeah, factor is in. That's why Boltz beats every other wrestler, because he's bigger than all. Tito is not like, Rashad is not a kid compared to Tito. It's absolutely not. There is a size-size advantage, but it's not as big as you're making it out to be. Rashad is a good enough wrestler that I don't think is really going to matter. So, your calls Rashad? Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's got to be Rashad. You know what? I hate to go crazy on this one. I don't want Tito. I think Tito won the first fight, you know, if you don't count the point that he lost. I think he's going to have enough of a wrestling advantage to counter Rashad's game. And I mean, he's, you know, if he's back healthy and he's back able to fight well, let's not forget he was a legitimate champion himself. I think so. So, Evans, I don't think Evans is going to be able to dance around the guy and point him as easily as he is. I see where you're coming from. I think this is one fight too early to be saying that Tito's backing beat a guy at this caliber. He fought a two minute fight or something against Bader and looked really good. But we still don't know if Tito can go. Sure enough. If he needs Rashad, then I'm thinking this guy's back. He's in the title line, but until I see that, I can't put that much faith in Tito. Well, he copied, Bader can be caught, no problem. The thing is, to me, what Wade's having on my mind is he had such a, he had such a gutty fight with Evans before. Yep. And he's had a fight of, a fight almost the same caliber with Liodo Machida and with four screws. Oh, he hasn't yet. Tito has a top competition. Tito hasn't been blown out by anyone despite his long losing streak. Like, he can, he can go at the top level. Evans is at the top level, but I think it's, it's a little bit too crazy to do. It's just completely count out Ortiz and say that. And I'm not. You know, Evans is going to be able to appoint the guy. Evans certainly can't knock him out. I don't think he can out wrestle him for the point when he's going to have to dive around him and punch him. I think it'll work. And I don't think that's going to be as effective as strategy as he hopes because Evans is going to have a guest on the other hand. On the other hand, how can Tito beat Rashad? I think that if, if, if Evans tires himself out and Tito managed to get some of the crucial takedowns, which is not a possible given his size advantage. Assuming Tito is an entire himself. Exactly. That's the thing. That's the thing. It's going to be a gas tank battle. It's going to be who's got more juice. Yeah. And I think that is easier for, I think a big guy spends less effort taking it on a little guy than a little guy spends taking him down a big guy. But a big guy's got more to move. True. But we'll see how it works out. So then going forward to one that it'll also be exciting. Yoshihiro Akiyama versus Vidar Belfort. Akiyama loves to trade with anyone. Belfort is not a guy you want to trade with. Not a guy you want to trade with. I mean, Belfort, you never know which Belfort you're going to get. Yeah. Like, you don't know if he's going to look good or he's going to look bad. But if Akiyama's just going to stand there and trade with him, he's going to get destroyed into it. Yeah, absolutely. It's not a good match of Akiyama at all. Unless he sticks to a proper game plan and actually utilizes his strengths. Well, Akiyama has an incredibly good judo game when he ever decides to use it. Yeah. And Vidar definitely can be held down. What's been the hallmark of Vidar's defeat is that he cracks under pressures. If you press him with grappling, he'll crack. Well, as we were just saying with big guys and small guys, Akiyama's small, Belfort is big. Belfort is big. Yeah. And I don't think that Akiyama can hold him down at all. I don't think it's, maybe he can take him down. He can't keep him down. It's a thing. He'll have to take him down repeatedly and just hope that Belfort sort of loses his nerve and loses some of his, yeah, exactly. So that's what he's got to hope to do. Just keep taking him down, taking him down. Do not trade with him for the love of God. If you, if you can break Belfort's spirit, which has been done many times before, he can win this fight. Yeah. I do not see that happening. It only takes a couple of take sounds before the guy starts getting cautious on his striking. And then once he gets cautious in the striking, you got the fight. That's the only, that's the only way to tell people about Belfort's God. With that being said, Belfort's going to have a size advantage. He's closed some of the holes in his, in his wrestling defense and good God can this guy strike. The worst part of it is, is Akiyama loves to walk forward and wait in the punches to put on a show for a crowd. As soon as the crowd starts cheering, he's going to start throwing bombs and this is going to go bad for him. This is what he did against Chris Lieben, who is an incredibly powerful striker in his own right. Belfort is way more powerful than Lieben. Way more powerful. This guy, Lieben, his name were close to Belfort's striking power. I think power wise, they're comparable speed wise, they're not. Exactly. I think that Belfort throws the same power with, with quicker shots. Yeah. And more accuracy. Yeah. I mean, like if you're gonna fall. He's a better striker. I don't think he's necessarily a more powerful striker. However, he'll land five shots when Lieben will land two, which adds up. So to me, I have a call of Belfort in this one. I don't think Akiyama is going to come in with the game. I cool down Belfort. I think Belfort's going to crush the guy. I can't even fathom calling. I like Akiyama. I can't even fathom calling him in this way. Yeah. I got to go Belfort as well. Okay. So let me go forward. Dennis Holman. He is a submission guy. They're from the top. He's being prescient. He's being saunter. As he lost to Doomsday Howard, he's taking on Brian Ebersol, him of the cartwheel kick. I don't know what to say about this. I'm glad Ebersol is on the main card because he will probably make this exciting, but like for this, we lose Franklin versus Little Noke. Yeah. Like this is this card. I'm not excited about this fight. I although I am excited to see what sort of wackiness Brian Ebersol pulls out. Yeah. Ebersol likes to make fights entertaining and he comes up with crazy, crazy stuff. And the thing with it is he gets away with it because he's damn good. You know, I he like he throws cartwheel kicks. I've seen him. I've seen him get knockouts with cartwheel kicks. The dude can knock you out with the cartwheel kick. If he pulls that off, I'll highlight of the year, you know, I'm like, think so this one to me. And I mean, Holman's a submission guy. So that could be interesting, too. Right. You guys know these guys have a combined 135s. Yeah. Ebersol says the 70 himself. Yeah. Yeah. He'd been around a while. Do you guys have all these fights? I don't even know who to call on this fight. I hope Ebersol wins. I got to call Ebersol myself. I hope it's by something wacky. Yeah. To me, I think Ebersol is a powerful enough wrestler. There's no way he's going to be an easy guy to tap, particularly because he's got so much veteran experience himself. Yeah. I think Ebersol is going to win the points on his feet and be able to hold Holman down without getting caught in his submissions. He's on the good run. And I mean, he'd be light. Which isn't an easy thing to do either. Yeah. I think I think I'll go with Ebersol as well. All right. Jorge Rivera makes his return against Konstantinos Filippo. Filippo is seven and two over a month. Supposed to be Cicero. Yeah. Third time that fight fell through. Don't even book it anymore. Cicero can fight someone else. Yeah. But I don't want to say Rivera, it's insane. We fight. I like Rivera. I like Rivera stuff. Hundreds of episodes. And we're finally just stomped. Yeah. I don't know. I don't care. I like Rivera. I like Rivera. And I think Rivera will win. Rivera's got a good heart. I mean, he's a tough guy. Bizping needs a guy in the head and he kept fighting even though he lost because he got knee in the head while he was down. So I don't count that as a loss. I don't count that as a loss. Biz being cheated. Yeah. Well, that's why I want the guy to pick up a legitimate win over Filippo. So then we go forward. Rory McDonald versus Mike Powell. I think someone's got something to say with McDonald's. McDonald's awesome. Yeah. He's great. That's awesome. I even like him even though he threw around D as UFC 129. This is, you know what, this is, if there were a reason that I was going to watch this card, it would probably be for really, like I'm going to watch it obviously. But this is the reason you're excited to watch. Yeah. I want to see Rory. Absolutely. Because I mean, the guy's big, he's up and coming. He's only 21, 22. No, I think that's Canadian. No, I think Powell's bigger, but I just don't see him having anything for McDonald. I mean, McDonald lost to Condit, but that was a fight he was winning for 95% of that fight. Condit, Mike Powell is a wrestler and he's a very, very serious wrestler. The good in his last fight too. He looked very good against Almeida and Hathaway as well. Well, he's a Hathaway fight where he looked the most impressive because that's when Hathaway was like the unstoppable guy. Now, with that being said, Rory has gotten, no, not for a wrestling game. I don't think you're going to be able to hold the guy down and pound on him. No, Rory can strike. He can go. Rory can strike. Yeah. Do you see what he did to Diaz? I don't know if we were there, but he's he's. I forgot that. What happened that day? Is there a fight? Yeah. Well, there was one guy cheering for Diaz in that building, but yeah, there was two. There was Jake Shields and they were like, but yeah, Rory McDonald has this. He just continues his rise in the Walter way division. I don't think there's really any doubt for that. Pile's a good veteran. I don't. I don't want it discounted too hard, but Rory McDonald's. Pile's also a good spoiler. You know what I mean? He's spoiled Hathaway. He did. I mean, we're McDonald. He's still tuned you to the game and too green to really like this one to me. It can go either way. I definitely think that Rory's got the tools to win, but Pile's not a guy you want to discount. So I'm assuming you're calling me Donald. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Rory, for sure. I'm going to go for the hat trick. I think Rory's going to get this one as well. He's just he's too much on the rise and I don't think Pile's got that much to offer him. Yeah. I actually do think it'll be a good fight though. Matt Hamill, who is gone all the way from main eventing to being on the prelims with against Alexander Goughson. Yeah. Free Spike TV. Free Spike TV. He took this fight at the very last minute too. Yeah. This was supposed to be someone else even a couple of days ago. Hamill is a very, very big, very, very tough wrestler on the Light Heavyweight Division. Goughson is a very tough wrestler. We can brawl a little bit. After he got out wrestled by Phil Davis. He went to a Lions Gym to train with those guys, Phil Davis and Vera. So good camp, 11-1, he's got a good referee, good referee. I like Goughson. A couple of big guys, you know, and I don't think I really hated how Hamill looked in that rampage fight. It'll actually be mad how bad he looked in that fight, but I still think he's good enough to be a guy like Goughson. I think I'm going to call Goughson just, I think that he switched camps, he's improved his wrestling and yeah, Hamill I just, yeah, he did not look good in Ramill. No, not at all. I like Goughson and I want to see him do well, but I'm just not sure, Hamill spots a really tough dude. Well, the thing I think with Hamill is what I think cost him in that rampage fight is he went for the takedown on a rampage, couldn't get it, and then he's like, "I've got nothing else." Same thing that cost him with bones. He went for the takedown on bones, bones threw him on his back, and he had nothing else. He got broken. No. Literally. Yeah. Just a sin. This guy knows about the hole in his wrestling game, and he's worked really, really hard to improve it. I think if he managed to stop those early shots from Hamill, Hamill will break, and I think that Goughson has got enough of a wrestling game to do it. So to me, I'm calling him Goughson, he's more of an up-and-comer. I think he's going to be able to stop Hamill in that first round, and once you get past the first round with Hamill, Hamill does not look good going forward. So let me go forward to Chad Mendez and Ronnie Ayah. Ronnie Ayah has looked good, but he's really inconsistent. Mendez, he's pretty consistent, 10-0. Yeah. He's as consistent as you can get. He's consistent as you can get. Mendez should have had the Feather White title fight, but timing didn't work out. So this is pretty much a keep-em-warm fight. If he wins this fight, he should have the next shot at the winner of Aldo and Florian. And I can't see picking against Mendez. Yeah. Honey Ayah doesn't strike me as a big spoiler, so... He can. He's top guy. He beat him. Was it Brown? He beat Brown and Wildlands. Yeah, but that was when Brown was on quite a big decline. Well, Eddie Wildlands is certainly on a big decline. Yeah, that's true. But yeah, I just don't see him being the guy that's going to stop Mendez. I think Aldo will be the guy who stops Mendez. Well, the thing with the Yaya is he's very unpredictable, but he's also very good off his back with submissions. Mendez likes to wrestle and hold you down, so there is going to be some risk. I think this one will be an entertaining grappling match. That's a fun match out. I do think that Mendez is going to be able to help point him on this one. Yeah. So there we go forward. Kevin Menjavar, he of the crushing elbow knockout and... Are these Facebook only? Pardon? These Facebook only? These are Facebook only. Yeah. It takes on Nick Pace. Menjavar look great at UFC Toronto, so I'm going to call for him. Yeah, I'm expecting him to look great again, for sure. Johnny Hendrix takes on Mike Pierce. Mike Brown, former WEC featherweight champion, all the way down fighting that fan, second from the second fight of the night. That'd be a good fight. That'd be a fine fight of the night. This should be televised, actually. This is probably one of the most exciting fights for me on this whole card. The thing is Brown has been inconsistent of late. Namfan is a pretty good striker. If he comes out and blows the guy out early, he'll be televised. If it comes to Brown, holds you down fast, gobbling and all that. He doesn't... Brown doesn't just hold you down. Brown can brawl. Brown can brawl. Brown can brawl. Brown will brawl. He'll submit, but I don't know what I'm going to get from the guy. It's true. Normally, I should be picking him without even a thought, because he should be that good, and he's one in his last four or five fights. He's been pre-limbed since UFC bought WEC, so I mean, it's not like this is a drop for him. Nope. And I don't know. Namfan looks good. I like Namfan as well. I guess he can beat this, Mike Brown. Yeah. But I'm still going to call Brown, because I like Brown, and I think that he's got to wake up. I think he's going to wake up in this fight. And Nam is... Nam will brawl, and I think Brown will brawl better. Yeah. I don't know. Brown. Yeah. I'll pick Mike Brown. To me, I think that as much as I love Brown, if he's going to brawl, Namfan is a much crisper striker as he proved against Leonard Garcia, and I don't think that Brown is going to be able to take the guy down as easily as Brown needs to, because fan is pretty good off his back and he's got some good Jiu-Jitsu. And to me, I think fan is going to be able to point the guy out by winning the striking battle on the feet and staying off the ground. So fan for me. I mean, it's hard for me to call against Brown, because I love Brown, but... Actually, I think it's going to be a good fight. I don't think he's got enough left. He's looked too rough from his last few fights. Well, yeah, I mean, this is sort of tough. He was a champion what, two years ago, and now he's losing and losing and losing. I mean, maybe, you know, it's tough to break that funk, you know, I think it's mental as much as it is physical. I agree. And then the first fight of the night, Rafael Natal versus Paul Bradley in the middleweight, so that one should be interesting as well. So then we go forward to Fedor versus Henderson. This was his past Saturday, probably one of the last big strike four shows he'll ever be. Yeah. Yep. And how to say, new favorite knock-out. You said last week on the show that if this fight goes the way you wanted to, you will be the happiest boy on earth. You know what? We've seen Henderson come up with more impressive knock-outs than this. We got feedback asking how happy you were. I'm happy. I'm happy. Dead Henderson is like Dave's hero. First he destroys Bisping, and now he destroys Vayner. Well, the thing with Dan Henderson, I mean, we all call him Hando. His nickname in the cage is not Hando, it's dangerous, Dan. And the reason for that is because the second he hurts you, he goes and he clubs you to death. He kills you. With the H-bomb. Yeah. I mean, Fador, I mean, he came forward, throwing punches, a wide looping punches as we expected from Fador. Dan kept his composure, grabbed his leg, flipped them on his, flipped them over, jumped on his back. Fador tried to get up, Dan uppercutted him, Fador face-planted, and Dan just swarmed on him with punches. People say it was a fast stoppage. Dan hit the guy five times always on the ground, Fador came to have his hands up by the fifth punch. Well, if Dan Henderson is on top of anybody, it's not a fast stoppage. You could stop the second he gets on top. It's a foregone conclusion. Yeah. Fador got up a minute later and was like, oh, was it early or whatever? He got beat up. It was early. My career's not over. Yeah. And this is not over. That's the unfortunate thing of it is, I mean, you know, people are saying that it's the fast stoppage. And what can you say? Everyone loves Fador and he's definitely taking severe beatings before and come back to win. So there always is that Fador factor of, you know, could you give the guy a little bit more leeway? Absolutely. But Dan Henderson, the post-flight interview, has made the point of, hey, I had the guy on his back, I hadn't in the full mount, his hands were down and trapped, and I'd already hit him with five punches. Do you think I was going to stop punching him? Yeah. Obviously, Hendo from that position, no one in the world is better at finishing than Hendo. And I think it was Herb Dean in the, in the cage and, you know, he doesn't stop really. Yeah. I trust him. You can't argue with Herb Dean. Absolutely not. You guys in the car have already heard of Herb Dean, but I don't think if Fador is one of them. This was, this was a fair stoppage to me. I mean, Hendo, he hit the guy fair and square. Yeah. So that's three in a lower row loss is for Fador. Now this is an interesting thing for Fador. Fador has now lost three in a row and he costs a ton, a ton of money. He makes, between, he makes about 300,000 a fight. His management company makes over a million. They pay him 1.2 million a fight, but, you know, he gets to keep three help with three points. And one gets a very, very large piece of that pie. Yes. Way too much. You've got some crust here and there. So I mean, do you keep paying this guy to fight and lose and is, here's the thing. It might be time to pay him until he can, until he stops drawing. Well, he's got one fight left on his contract. Now, if you're going to bring him over to UFC, like, they don't show this on their own the pay-per-view because, or I'm going to show this on the strike force TV, because why would they? But throughout the show, Jimmy Lennon has to come out and read public service announcements for M1 Global and say, "L1 Global, now bringing you this or that and fighting Euro." Oh, Fedor's management. Their names are all over the, all over the, you know, they get, they get the rights to market these fights overseas and they get so much out of this. Now, let's face the honest facts here. There is no way that UFC is going to have Bruce Buffer come out and we have one Global Public Service announcements and a UFC. UFC/M1 Global presents Fedor versus Brock. Yeah. Well, once one strike force goes and one's going with it, absolutely. That is zero percent chance of ever happening, which means that Fedor and Million Echo is not going to be fighting in the UFC. You have to have a fight on pay-per-view because otherwise, how are you going to pay the guy at 1.5 million? You're going to justify all this money. Yeah. You've already paid the guy four and a half million. Now, Greg, Greg, get a good point that as long as you keep drawing, it's okay. And guys draw that they get ratings and they get business way after they've lost too many fights. Like, a Tito. Yeah. He could still make them money, but I don't think he'll make them enough to be worth all of it. I don't think so either. I mean, you got to let the numbers do the talking and you just have to look at it plain and simple. How much is this guy making us? How much is this guy costing us? Ask your accountant if you should fight again. Exactly. Yeah. Well, the unfortunate thing is I think asking the accountant, I don't think he can. I don't think he's worth bringing M1 into UFC and I don't think on strike force with no pay-per-view on free TV, you can justify paying this guy the money you're paying on. Yeah. It's no matter how much he's drawing you in terms of ratings, and don't get him out. The crowd loves him. The crowd cheers him and people tune in. But the advertising revenue you're going to get is not nearly close to what you can pay this guy because it's not like he spikes rating any more than Gina Chrono would do and you only got to pay her $100,000. Yeah. You know, you only have to pay, you're not paying this guy as much as Diaz Diaz is a bigger draw. You know what I mean? Well, Diaz is going to make a lot of money going to UFC now, but yeah, you're right. They're paying him far more than what he's bringing in either. They might be paying this guy. If you look at the four guys that are left in the strike force heavyweight tournament, all four of them combined. He definitely makes more than all four of them combined. Double. Yeah. Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me. I completely agree. He's making more than almost every, if those eight guys, you take out Alsar over him. Fader's making more than the other side. The other six combined. Yeah. You know, like you're going to pay this guy more than Fabriceio Verdume, who's choked the guy out. Oh, this is actually a good time for him to mention. They like, they fired over him, and everyone else in Golden Glory. So Marla's Conan gone. Oh, man. If I had Conan, yeah, it looks like apparently started to get off topic here, but we're sort of talking about, but over him, apparently they wanted to start running shows, go on glory when it started running shows in America. Yeah, they're all and now that over him's cut, they're all gone. Well, I guess you know what that guy, I think a firing Conan also speaks to how Dana feels about women's MMA. Well, the thing with Conan is not necessarily, I mean, she was an innocent victim in this. She happened to was the belt on the wrong night, which we'll get into in a minute. But ultimately, Golden Glory wanted to run a competitor brand and over him was holding out for a lot of money. So Dana's like, all right, well, get her a mall. Yep. Yeah. What are you going to do? You know, there's no one in that camp that was, that was worth so much money. It's mafia style. It's like the end of casino. It's supposed to not take a chance. Everyone gets clipped. Yeah. I mean, and it's unfortunate for Conan because she probably is the innocent victim here but. And she's in the top four women's fighter in the, fighters in the world and that, that women's title fight on this card was great. Mm hmm. So going forward to that, Conan versus Tate, Conan looked great in the second round. Tate wrestled her in the first and third and the fourth round is kind of even and all of a sudden Tate just kind of slipped on over, managed to get the arm trap triangle out of Brock Lesnar and Tyrone Woodley. So one of my favorite submissions of the year is still being used by wrestlers. If you're a wrestler, learn this move. Go. Now. Learn. Yeah. Yeah. She used it to tap a submissions expert. Yeah. The best, the best female submissions expert, I think. And yeah. Misha Tate looked good. She's great. I've never seen anyone happier to win a belt than Misha Tate. Yep. This girl was ecstatic and she's really got something, the fans, she got the second biggest reaction of the night after Fedor. So I think they should stop trying to make things work with Gina Crono and just make her the new Gina Crono. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. So we go forward. Robbie Lawler versus Tim Kennedy, Lawler looked a little bit reluctant to engage. Kennedy managed to out-rust them and then just as the night went on, Lawler got more and more tired. Kenny looked more and more dominant. So Kenny picked up unanimous decision here. Paul Daly, as expected, got held down by T. Wood. However, Paul Daly definitely showed a lot of improvement in his wrestling game and he managed to rally back pretty big in the third round. He came alive in that third round. I was like, oh, he's going to go for it and nothing. He didn't have enough left to strike the guy out, but he went for a crazy almaplata. Paul Daly going for an almaplata. I'm going to tell you that move was never going to work. Dude, that one was destined to fail, but Paul Daly going for an almaplata. Maybe if he tried it after the bell and maybe it would have worked. He just sneaks up and throws the guy in an arm bar afterwards. Yeah. So Tyrone Woodley picked up a decision here. Okay, Tyrone Woodley is like, they even strike first, but a hypo for Sola. And the guys on such a run in strike force, he's supposed to be one of the most often coming welterweight guys. I'm still waiting for that performance where I'm like, this guy could hang with the UFC welterweight guys. And I still haven't seen it. Tyrone Woodley looks to me pretty similar to some of the wrestlers in UFC. Not quite as dominant as Fitch or what have you, but could he put on a good show against Charlie Brennan? Probably. Probably. Yeah. So he's not without his charm. Tariq Safadin versus Scott Smith, Safadin just keed off on this guy, Smith on the other thing. Safadin killed him. Those were ridiculous. Okay. He put his hands down. Scott Smith just sat there. He got a head kick like five times on Shaq. He just takes it. He got over the head. I'm yelling at him. I'm yelling at the team. Okay, check. He put his hands down and was like, no, go ahead and kick me in the face. Yeah. He didn't try to block or dodge. He just took the ball of the punishment for two rounds. Then in the third round, he started charging forward, trying to hit the guy, but realistically Safadin at that point, it already had the fight one. I mean, honestly, to me, the second round was 10-8. Yeah, I think you're right. The three judges gave it 30-20-7, 30-20-7, and 30-26, so one judge called the second 10-8. If you called that for out of 10-9, you don't know what I mixed martial arts. This guy took five straight kicks in the head. He got to nine points for staying alive. And Scott Smith's whole gimmick, if you can call it that, is he takes the killing shot, and then just when you think he's finished, he comes back and finishes you off. He comes back from the grave, essentially. No, he just got the crap kicked over and did nothing. It was painful to watch. They should cut him for his own safety. Oh, my God. This is terrible. It was bad. And I have to say, last week, I was talking about how Tim Kennedy, for the Tim Kennedy fight, that I just don't see it, and he's just, I don't think he's as good as they say. He looked really good. I apologize for saying, "Tim Kennedy sucks." Let me tell you guys a lot. I was being a little rash. He's strike forces Brian Stan, but not quite as good as real Brian Stan, is what it comes out to you. Yes. So, he looked good. He was aggressive, and I mean, he'll probably get the shot against Jack Ray, the next shot of Jack Ray. He looked very good. I apologized to him Kennedy. That's well you should. Also in the prelims, Bobby Green, he lost his split decision to Gisai as Calvacanti. A little bit of an interesting thing here. It looked like there should have been a tap out in the end of the second round, but they rough did not see it. I've never seen that happen before. Stinson knocked out Pamplone in 15 seconds. This one was crushing. Derek Brunson got a rear naked choke submission over Lumumbo Sires, and I've officially read Wulu. There's just Loo. Selenis Jones choked out Brian Humes by Braebo Choke in the first minute of the third round, and then Alaxa Stave is out-pointed Julie Kedsi, the great Jackson standout. So first time we've seen a Jackson fighter drop a decision fight, or drop a decision fight. Yeah, seriously. Someone's going to go back to our camp to take a weapon. Well, how about you, Julie? You lost his decision fight? That's not supposed to happen. Ridiculous. No Jackson fighter loses his decision fight. Look at Nick Ring. That's ridiculous. Because you've got control in the cliffs for three rounds and punched up a bit. How do you lose a fighter who doesn't fight as a Jackson fighter? Anyway. And a big local news for us is UFC's coming back to Toronto for the second time in one year. The December 10th card was supposed to be in Montreal for whatever reason. It's at the ACC in Toronto. Awesome. We were going either way. This is just less distance for us to go. Yeah, it's great. There's no card yet. I wouldn't have taken any excuse to visit Montreal, but it's nicer to have an entry. No, I love Montreal. It's a great city. But I mean, it's definitely nicer to have in Toronto where I can take a train rather than I had used to book a hotel. Well, you could take a train to Montreal. [laughter] I just did it. It's bein' safe. Go. Well, in any case, I don't have to book a hotel when I was in Toronto. Yeah. And then that means there'll probably be a Montreal show next year, and it's just great for MMA and Ontario. Absolutely. And that's pretty much all we got. Yeah. Well, thank you very much for tuning in. We'll be live at 93.3 CFMU. You can also find us at TheHammerMMA.com. Have a good week.
