[music] Hello and welcome to the Hammer. I'm your host Dave. Turners always by my co-hosts. Greg, how's it going guys? And Steve, hey. So it is Wednesday, June the 8th, and we're going to talk about the upcoming UFC 131. We're all going to review the results of the Ultimate Fighter and, of course, we have news as always. So let's start, though, with the big thing for the week. UFC 131, Junior DeSontos vs. Shane Carlwin and you're listening to us live on 93.3CFMU. You can also find us at thehammermma.com and addictedmma.com. So let's talk about Junior and Shane. Now, this is originally supposed to be Brock Lesnar vs. Junior DeSontos, but they are making a chicken salad out of chicken something, according to Brock Lesnar, and because Brock Lesnar is injured and out for probably the next year, this is a good... This is a good... Not anymore, yeah. This is a good backup plan. Oh, that's a short of them. Yeah. Well, it's really good that they lucked out on this one. The fact that Carlwin was ready to take this over, because it could have been pretty rough if not. In all fairness, he didn't luck out that much on it. In as much as Carlwin, there's no way he should reform the same draw that Brock is. No, but I'm saying, given that Brock is out, the fact that Carlwin was available is lucky. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, this is the best damage control they can possibly do for this card. Great. Now, Junior DeSontos is very, very fast with the division. Tall, very slick, good striking, good defense on his feet for takedowns. Yep. Supposedly, good jujitsu, even though we've never had a chance to see it. Because he never gets taken down. Yeah. Carlwin, he's massive. He's very, very powerful. He has tons of knock-off power. Go wrestler. Good wrestler. However, looking at him doing the interview at Ultimate Fight Night, you can visibly see in his face, he has dropped all significant amount of weight. Yeah, this is true. But if you saw him in the Brock Lesnar fight where he gassed out, and he's very, you know, very rarely able to go, or has ever really needed to go past the first round, maybe losing some weight might actually help him. Well, that's exactly what they're trying to do. I mean, they're trying to get him in better shape so that he can go longer, because you're not, I mean, it's not easy to beat Junior. It's even harder to finish Junior, so... Now, if anybody could knock out Junior... No, but he can knock out Junior. He's never been hit. He's never been hit by Shane Carlwin. This will be, this will be very fun. This will probably be very short, actually. You know what? I don't think so. No? I think, well, actually, it depends on if Shane Carlwin gases or not. You can tell I'm a Junior fan. Like, I don't think Carlwin's going to catch Junior. I really don't. And I think that, depending on how in shape Carlwin is, this will either go to decision or Carlwin will gas. Well, the other thing to keep in mind though, Carlwin does have insane, one-punch power. Yeah. If he gets you in a clinch, or if he matches the clinch on the cage, the fight's over for you. I don't care how good you are, how tough you are. You know, just the sheer level of damage this man can do is ridiculous. He's a far more powerful puncher than Junior DeSanto says. And I'm saying that, I love Junior DeSanto. He's a phenomenal striker. It's pretty much impossible not to let you in. No one's as powerful a puncher as Shane Carlwin. Yeah. This guy in a clinch, he's devastated. Yeah. And you have to figure that at, like, you know, DeSanto, he was not able to finish off Roy Nelson. Shane Carlwin's got a pretty tough chin. Yeah. He's slimming down a little bit, get that extra bit of gas, and coming from a really, really good game plan camp who propped them for this fight while I'm assuming. You know, DeSanto says he didn't change up his strategy from preparing for Brock to preparing for Carlwin. They still prepared for Carlwin to take him down. Carlwin doesn't rely on takedowns. He likes to clinch against the cage where he can uppercut you. No, he can do it though. He's prepared for Carlwin to take him down. But the thing is, if you're training for Brock, you're also prepared for wrestling because Brock is a wrestler. So, clinching is included in that. Part of Shane Carlwin's game plan should be to have some wrestling ready, because if he's getting beat on his feet or he's getting tired, he is a very capable wrestler. He can take Junior down. Who knows what he will do to him when he gets him down there? How well it would go. But I believe that Shane Carlwin can take down Junior DeSanto's. Do I think that Carlwin is going to take Junior's down and then sweep him and go for a go-go plot? No. But do I think that he's got heavy hands and he's going to be able to pound the guy in the body to soften him Junior up, maybe slim down a little bit? Yeah. And do I think Junior do think Carlwin can lay on top of him for five minutes to get his breath back? Probably, yeah. Keep in mind it is a three-round fight. Carlwin's only got to be able to be able to go for 15 minutes. I don't think Carlwin would need very much ground in pound on the ground to finish Junior DeSanto's or really anybody. He's got to get him there first. Also, you have to remember that with losing a lot of weight, you might also lose some power as well. Absolutely. That to me, that's the more talent point is how much gas is he gained and how much power is he signing for us to get that pass. Exactly. So, I mean... It's an interesting fight. It doesn't matter how much gas he's gained. He's not going to be as quick or have as much stamina as Junior. No. He's not going to get to that level. And I think that you're right, Junior DeSanto's has no weaknesses that we can tell. And Shane Carlwin does. And Shane Carlwin can finish this fight at any time with the right punch. He is that powerful, but I can't call against Junior because Junior has no weaknesses that we have seen. On paper, he can beat Shane Carlwin. Oh, Junior DeSanto's next to GSP is my favorite fighter. So, there's no way I'm calling against Junior. Dave? I love Junior and I do think that he has the ability to win this fight because Junior has the ability to win pretty much any fight. With that being said, at this level of the heavyweight division, you can say about a lot of guys. You can say about Carlwin. He comes from a tough camp. He's coming up with a tough loss. He's had a lot of time to heal, to have surgery to get himself right. I think if he's coming into this fight healthy, he's got the one punch power to do it. I don't think DeSanto's going to put the guy away as easy as Carlwin can put DeSanto's as way. So, I would imagine that if this fight goes through at some point, Carlwin's going to catch the guy. And if he catches you, that's it. Same thing with Mir. He caught him and then the fight was over. And I think at some point-- Different league though. You know what? DeSanto, is he got hit by some punches from Nelson? Not a lot, but some. Nelson's nowhere close to the punch of Carlwin. His carwin catches you with a couple punches. You're going to feel it. Yeah. Yeah, and they're going to add up. Yeah, Junior's got a Chuck and Dive. Yeah, he's not the agile hornet that Leo Del Machito or Anderson Silva is. He's going to take a couple shots. And I think Carlwin's going to catch him. So, that's my call for this one. I think Carlwin's going to win this one by either ugly point decision by grinding him against the cage or by knockout. Probably late. The only way he's going to be Junior is by knockout. There's no way he's out decisioning Junior. It's not happening. I agree with that. Not a chance. I'm looking forward to the fight. I think it's going to be really fun. It's one of the most interesting fights in the heavyweight division. The only way I think it could be more interesting would be either one of these guys against Velasquez. Yeah, and the winner will get that. Well, the winner will see Junior Velasquez forever. I want to see Junior Velasquez. I want to see Colin Velasquez. I don't want to see Brock Velasquez because I saw him. Yeah, we know that turned out. I want to see Brock Tuscantos. Yeah, I actually prefer the matchup of Carlwin. It's really interesting. It's really interesting. I think that, yeah, I don't know. I just find it more interesting. And I like both of the guys too, so it helps in that way too. So let's go forward. We're going to talk a little bit about the featherweight belt. Kenny Florian, the only man to fight in four UFC divisions and presumably five if he doesn't succeed here because he'll keep on coming. Yeah, he's going to cut all the way down to Strike Force women's division. Strongweight. Strongweight. He's Iron Marliss Conan right now. I have to say, I'll respect to Kenny Florian, but this card drops off a lot after the penny. It does, it really does. Well, Ken Flo, he is a great fighter. He just has not managed to find a division yet where he's the greatest fighter. Yeah. And that's the story of Kenny Florian's life is he's so close to the top. But the champions in each division are just so, so good. Now, here he's taking on Diego Nunez. Diego's a serious, serious guy. He just beat Mike Brown. He's five-in-one in Zufa, but he's 16-in-one overall. This guy's a real, real featherweight and you've got to figure Florian's cutting a lot of weight to make his life how you can affect his guy. This is no can for Florian's first level. And honestly, I'm going to say that if he wins, I mean, the featherweight title is like, the winner of this is probably going to be, their next fight's going to be a title fight. If he does wins this, I would say, he was in a short list of all the way before this, particularly when Grisby dropped out. If he does wins this, he's definitely getting all though. Florian, he might need one more. Our argument for Mendez, but in the mix, in the mix for sure. And Florian, he's dropping down yet another weight class. If he drops down and he takes his weight cut well, Florian really is one of the best fighters out there. He is, he is. And I think he could beat Diego Nunez, but if he finds his weight, if he finds his weight cut to be difficult, Nunez can beat him. I have to think that, you know, as tall as Kenny Florian is, he fought at 185, then he cut to 170, then he cut to 155, and I was kind of 145. It's going to affect you at some point. You're going to come in worn by the sheer amount of weight you're cutting. The big question is, is this a 10 pounds a dozen? It very well could be. So I would have to say that, given that Kenny Florian, he's always struggled with that top, top, top tier of competition. I don't think Diego Nunez is that guy though. Do you think Kenny Florian is going to be able to beat Diego? I don't. I'm having trouble calling against him. Guys, we forget how good Kenny Florian is. I mean, he's got four ways to hide advantage on this guy. Also, this is the formula. Kenny Florian can beat the level of Diego Nunez. He's always beaten the level of Diego Nunez. He can't beat Jose Aldo. That's right. Joe's a Aldo. I keep saying Jose, but he can't beat Jose Aldo, and that's where he always falls apart. He can't beat B.J. Penn. Like, it's always at that top tier level, and Diego Nunez isn't there yet. I'm calling Florian as well. I kind of regret this because I do actually like Diego Nunez quite a lot, but I kind of have to call Florian as well, just because the size advantage he's going to have here, and if he takes the cut in all well, he's a good wrestler. He's got enough submission defense. I don't think Nunez is going to be able to top him out with eating him with any sort of ease. Yep. And Florian's got some pretty wicked my type. Oh, yeah. Particularly when you figure he's going to have a huge height, weight, and reach advantage. Well, it's frustrating because he's such a great all-around fighter, and he just hasn't had a title yet. And it is frustrating because he's that talented. There's nothing wrong with being top three in your division at any point. Yeah, but you want to see someone who's that good at just about everything, get a title. Right, and this might be on the course, as you said. He will eventually run into Jose Aldo. And then it's trouble. But I'm interested in seeing Kenny Florian try and reinvent himself yet again. Yep. So we go to John Olive Enimo, and he's going to take you on Dave Herman. Now, Enimo, they've got some hype about this guy coming in. He's from Golden Glory, the gym that has such stars as Massassie, Alistair Overing, and Simey Schilt. However, he's actually more known for his BJJ. So it's going to be interesting to see a guy coming from that level of a striking camp. He's also got some grappling. Now, he was Carwin's original opponent. He hasn't fought in years. His last fight was in pride, I believe. That's how far he goes back. There's some other... You're right, there's some hype about this guy. He's got great subs. And I don't think he could have beaten Carwin, but I think he can beat Dave Herman from Team Press. So it's also Dave Herman's UFC debut. He's 22, and Quest is a good grinding camp. I don't only think about the guy other than that, but yeah. But I mean, coming from Team Quest, as you said, it's a good grinding camp. So if he's any kind of a grinder, he might be able to grind out a boring decision. Yeah, well, I mean, it's a fight. Honestly, I don't see either one of these guys. I think this one's good. I can also say I've never seen either of these guys fight before, which is rare. When have we never seen a guy fight? Third from the top. Third from the top. But if they were going to put him in with Carwin, there must be some serious upside down. Oh, definitely. And I say he's obviously the guy to watch in this fight. Yeah. I've got no call for this. I mean, I'm always probably the guy to watch, but I don't know enough about either one of these guys. So, you know, as I said, it's a fight. What are you going to do? Yeah. It is what it is. So we go forward to the fourth from the car, which really should probably be the third, but I guess Maya needs to eat some more pies and get up to heavyweight before you get to the third one. Damian Maya taking on Mark Munoz. Now Maya had a crazy, crazy run of submissions, and I believe he needs one more to tie Royce Gracie. But he hasn't done submission. He hasn't got submission in ages. The easy ran to name Mark Ritzvest. Yes. Mark Munoz, this guy's got, he's underrated. He's got a tough, tough record. Yeah. This guy's a scrapper and a half. This is the guy that Nogara, and Anderson Silva, and Leona Machita, and Junior DeSantos used to teach them rustling. Yeah. So this guy can rustle. Yep. He's, it's surprising that he's not higher than he is. I mean, with that kind of camp around him, and he's very talented, especially in middleweight. Well, he went for that run, where he was just basically burying everyone with devastating ground and pound. Mm-hmm. Then he ran smack into a commie. Yeah. And it started to shoot for takedowns for three straight rounds. Yep. Despite the fact that he probably could've knocked a commie out. Oh, yeah, definitely. You know, he rocked him really bad in the second round. Just bad game planning. Really? Bad game planning. This is a very interesting fight. These guys are good at exactly what the other guy isn't. Yep. You've got a good wrestler with a very good striking good ground of him versus Damian Mai, who's really only a good submission guy. Yeah, he's a missed test. But he's still dangerous. Yeah. I think that it's, it's wrong to underestimate Mai's grappling talent. Because, I mean, he is a phenomenal submission guy, and he's known for that. But if you look at his last couple fights, he's actually shown really, really impressive and improving wrestling credentials, able to get guys down to get him out and to stay in mount. I mean, he's a top-top level grappler all around. Munos, he's definitely have the striking advantage. But I've also seen Munos decide that he wants to prove a point and try to take a guy down. Well, both these guys are guilty of foolish game planning in the past. For sure. Yeah. Well, Mai is terrible for that. Yeah. For the devasting of our court, okay. Yeah. So, Maya often finds a way to win. And just in this, I don't know, who do you guys call? I'm going to call Munos. I just, I've never entertained by Maya. I just call Munos, I want to see it. I'd like, I'm going to call him Munos as well. Munos is a more entertaining guy, and I'd probably like to see him win more. But with that being said, I think Maya is, you know, ever since that, that crushing defeat, that the hands of Anderson Silva followed by, which, you know, came on the heels of the crushing defeat of the hands of named Markor. How fast did he get a title shot after getting crushed by Markor? Yeah, he, I think he got, he was one of the only guys in the UFC that I think I just got title shot off the loss. Oh, it wasn't off the loss, but it was very shortly after. Yeah, it's very, very shortly after. I can't even murder the fight yet between that. In any case, Maya, he is top 10. He deserves to be top 10. The fact that Silva clowned him, Silva clowns everyone. Yeah. You know, I think that Munos, he's not gonna, I'll grab all Maya as easily as he thinks he is. I think this can be a boring decision for Maya. It's a Maya fight, for sure. Yeah. Yeah. That's, that's all I can say. I always hope I'm wrong and I'm always. I think, I think, you know, it'll just be Maya managed to stay busy enough on, in clinches and on top and the ground and he got a decision as he often managed to do. Good call. So then we go forward to a fight that will also probably be boring. Wagner Rocha, he's making his U of T.P. to take on some guy named Donald the Cowboys. Well, not be boring. Not at all. Saroni will not let it be boring. Saroni never lets me down. He's always got a great fight. So, Saroni is fabulous. Great striker. Great submissions. Great camp. Awesome ranch. Awesome ranch. So, he lives on with, with Donald with, with Leonard Garcia. So, you know, the Cowboys, he's, he's, he's. Great top of that. Cat's halfway, cowboy hat. Wagner Duro Rocha, he's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Top shelf. Probably even better than Saroni's. It better be top shelf if he's going to face Saroni. Yeah. And I think that Donald Saroni's is good enough that that's not the game plan you want to use against him. Yeah. And Donald Saroni is well rounded enough that this guy doesn't have a chance. Saroni's got a wicked Mai Tai game. So, I mean, Mai Tai is going to try to strike with a guy not to move. This is all Saroni. Yeah. But this one is going to be really, really fun. Saroni is a vicious and he's charismatic. Rocha, he's a scrambler. Yeah. If this goes into clinch or on the ground, you're going to see a lot of scrambler. Saroni fights are either exciting, dirty, or both. Yeah. This will be good or short. So, I'm looking forward to it. It's likely to be exciting and dirty. So, then we go forward to the prelims. Sam Stout takes on Euse Edwards. Are these Spike TV? Yes. Yeah. Stout's always good for an entertaining fight for sure. That's normally pretty entertaining. Jesse Bongfeld takes on Chris Weidman. The water Bongfeld. Yes. I am looking forward to seeing a Weidman or Weidman fight again. He fights Sakara back in March. That's right. On a late replacement in Domini Oldham. Yeah. He looked great. Weidman is on a serious, serious rise in middleweight. And I mean, in middleweight, they're looking for guys that are going to be willing to step up and take on Silva. Keep your eyes on Weidman. Yeah. He's got wrestling. He's got striking. He's good. He's more powerful than, you know, than Sakara. Yeah. So, like, he's not that far behind Brian Stan. If Brian Stan makes to run to a roadblock, Weidman might be there. Yeah. He's chasing on those heels. That's like the hot guy in middleweight right now. So, watch this fight. Oh, no, it's a, you know, it's on free TV, right? Yeah. Okay, good. So, the rest of the prelims will be on Facebook. Christos Suzuki, he of the entertaining tattoos, takes on Mike Massessinio, who was cut in 2010 after loss is too dull away in stun, but now makes his return to probable lose to Suzuki. Likely. Hey, I gotta, I mean, I gotta put my support behind Sashinsky. He's an entertaining guy and Canadian. And even his losses are fun? Yeah, really. I mean, I love the fights with Stefan Bonner. They were sloppy as hell, but they were fun to watch. For sure. So, Sashinsky's a brawler. Oh, yeah. He likes to brawl. This one's gonna be a fairly fun one, 'cause it'll be two, two and five pounders, just basically trying to knock each other around. Yeah, yeah. And not having skills to knock each other out. It's Christos selfishing guys with the camera. That was his thing for a while, and I didn't see that. Now he just stands in banks. Yeah, well, hey, yeah. He got no complaints about that. He's got a mix of banging in the camera. He's a banger. So. Oh, wow. That's terrible. That's terrible. That's terrible. That's terrible. Necessity. He's not going to be able to be him. Go forward. Michihiro Omogawa is going to take him on Darren Alkins. El Momogawa has returned to UFC after years. Alkins just lost to Olivia. Joy Beltran, he of the entertaining heavyweight fights, is going to take on Aaron Rosa. Beltran is another brawler. He had a crazy brawl with Pat Berry. He's had brawls before. Beltran has some good wins, and even his losses are to our good fights with good guys. I'm behind him on this. Yeah. Dustin Poirier, who. I'd want to see him fight again. I'm excited. He's the ruiners. He ruined Josh Crispy. Yeah. Yeah. He's going to take on Jason Young. Oh, Jason Young. Jason Young. MMA, the Reckoning. Yeah. So you guys have seen Young Fight. What do you think? He's talented. He's talented. He's tough. He got the crap kicked out of it and never stopped getting back up. This should actually be. This is sleep or fight of the night, I think. Yeah, hopefully he doesn't have to wrestle, though, because he's not good at that. But with that being said, Poirier, he showed he's mostly a grappling striker in the fight with Crispy. But the thing with Crispy is I've seen him crack under pressure. If Young's got the heart, he'll have to make this a fight. Like beating Crispy doesn't have the clout that he used to. Not after last week. So I think this is going to be a fun fight. And I think I'm going to call Poirier, though. Yes, Samir. Yeah, you guys have seen him in Jason Young Fight lives. If you're calling him Samir. He doesn't even have a Wikipedia page yet. I think we're the only guys who have seen him fight. So, yeah, Poirier, probably going to win this one. And then one of Greg's firefighters, Nick, the promised ring, is going to be taking on James Had. No, this is James Had's UFC debut. Heads an all-rounder. Yeah. Headbeat Gerald Harris, who's fairly serious. Not the UFC. So not the UFC, but, you know, it has UFC to be. Yeah. For some, we've seen him head in the UFC. And Nick Ring looked terrible in his rookie focata fight. But it did win. Of, he did not win that fight. He's pulled off a couple of, like, the ultimate fighter he had that controversial decision with court McGee, too. Yeah. So I don't know, I don't know what, he's Jackson, though, isn't he? Yes, he is. Yeah, so. He's Jackson and he's got-- The Jackson is undefeated. Yeah. That he's undefeated. He is talented. He's talented, guys, a good wrestler. He just hasn't looked impressive. Yeah, he did not bring anything to that rookie focata fight. No. So, I mean, I don't think this fight's going to be very exciting. I don't think so either. So what's your call, "Ring or Head"? Well, Ring. Ring. No one call on head. Man with the towel. He's always going to-- the man with the towel effects, man. Yeah, the man with towel is definitely something to consider. However, I think Ring burned all his karma and stealing that went off focata. I think that had my surprise us. So I'm going to call a head just for the, you know, go ahead and go because I hate Nick Ray. And then we go forward to the news. All right, very, very quickly on this because it's about a week old. The second we got off the air last week, I get an email saying, "Can you believe they signed GSP versus a DS?" So that's official for October. I'm excited. Oh, yeah. This is great. I mean, it was the only direction that it could have taken. Well, you rebuilt the Walter Wade division with all these ovencomers. And DS now has the only UFC/Strike Force contract. You can fight them both. Yep. And they want to sign Melendez to one apparently. He's the other guy you should do that with. I would love to see Melendez come into the lightweight division. That's that's something else. I'm going to suck for Patis and Guida and Miller. Well, I mean, Anderson. Pat, Patis is already kind of... We'll get to that in a minute. So yeah, that'd be great. We'll talk more about GSP versus DS as it comes closer, but awesome, awesome news. Gina Chrono is off the June 18 Strike Force card after not getting medically cleared. But now KJ Nunes versus Jorge Masvidal has been moved on to the main card, which is a fair replacement. Yeah. That's great replacement. This is awesome. Masvidal's awesome. Yep. Rampage Jackson inappropriately touched another female journalist, Joe Rogan defended her. This is the third one. But it is. So throw that out there. Joe Rogan defended her by saying she's kind of... Let's just say I'm not a very nice woman. Not cool. Joe Rogan. You know, the thing about UFC is trying to get legitimacy. Having this idiot calling journalists' names on Twitter and on his radio show, it's not going to help. No. Well, there are much worse offenses, though. No, granted. Quickness happened. I mean... Grant... Granted, Rampage Jackson stopped molesting reporters. Yeah, that's a good start. I command this. I'm sure. Rogan, don't talk on Twitter. So... There's no winners in the story. I think it would be worse if it was a surprise, but I'm not surprised by Rogan saying this. Like, I don't think it decimates the company that much, because people... Yeah, but you know what? If you were an NBC and you were a basketball commentator, and you called the sideline reporter the C-word after LeBron James roughed her around a bit. Well, think about what, like, say, for example, I mean, someone is outspoken as Charles Barkley. Now, if Charles Barkley had said something like that, it'd be fine. I don't know. I really don't. I think that, you know, people expect Charles Barkley about spoken. I mean, Charles Barkley's classy, classy guy. I love him. But if he just said something that controversial, I don't think it would be that much of a surprise. I really don't. You know what? I think he'd been... I think anyone but Rogan would be in trouble with their job with this. So, we'll see. And, yeah, the score fighting series, June 10th in Mississauga, Ontario, is at the Hershey Center, made of in his Jordan, Maine versus Mariah Serobskis. Yep. Also, so could you is fighting, and there's a ton of Bantamweight fights. And Darkson. And Joe Darkson is fighting as well. This is a local show for us, probably in the first five MMA events in Ontario. We shall be there. We will be there doing some media for it. I actually think that this will be airing on the score in Canada at some point. This will be we're seeing. Jordan Maine was very impressive. Yeah, he looked really great. And I'd love to see. If he can take Serobskis out, then he'll look at him for the Montreal card. That's his ticket to the UFC. And also, Bellator 47 is coming to Ontario. Casino Rama, July 23rd. The same site as the MMA Reckoning Show that we saw Jason Young fight on. Also very exciting. Ontario MMA is blowing up. Yep. It's only been here for like three or four months. There's been big cards already. We'll cover that more later, I think. When we can get close to Bellator. But now I think we're going to move forward to the ultimate finale. This is last weekend. This is last weekend. So we're going to go over this a little bit quick. Ramsey and Egypt took on- Must start the top. Start the top. Okay. That was the top. Oh, it is the top. Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot. There's only one made event that I showed for me. Steve, I'm sorry. There's only one made event on this card for me. Continue. My fault. There were other fights. So the main event of the car. Ramsey and Egypt versus Tony Ferguson for the winner of the ultimate fighter. This is a story of Ramsey and Egypt being outclassed. Oh, yeah. He tried to, Tony Ferguson took him down a couple of times of grappling. Madison went at him with crazy strikes. And Tony Ferguson deposited him with a counter punch. He went him by knockout. He had three missed 54 seconds. By far, Tony was the class of that show. These were the two best guys on that show, and Tony was that much better than Ramsey. He was the fighting class, not the class class. So Ferguson knocked on the night, and he wins the ultimate fighter, so that looks good for him. Do you guys think he has a future? Yeah. Tony? Yeah. Oh, yeah. He's got some upside. I mean, the fact that he can strike, and he's got enough of a wrestling base. If he trains with a good camp, which he seems like he's doing, he'll be fine. Now, in Egypt, he'll probably also get in, but you're going to have to work a lot on your striking. He deserves the other shot. Yeah, he does. So, we go forward to the second fight on the card. Clay Guida versus Anthony Pettis. This is a real main event, and I was hoping it would be the greatest fight in the entire year. It was not, but I still enjoyed it. Yeah, maybe Pettis pulled out a couple of interesting moves. It's a shame he really didn't connect on that spinning back. I think he hit the fence instead of Guida, but that would have been amazing. I think Pettis-- I think Guida had him scouted, because he's so bothered. He knew that was death. I think Pettis did very well working from his back. The few times he was on his feet striking, he showed some good stuff. I thought he kept his head about it very well. My issue is that if he was getting taken down so much by Clay Guida, then Frankie, Elgar and Gray Maynard would have eaten him alive, and I think it's time to go back to the drawing board. It's not the end for Pettis. Yeah. But this was a test that he couldn't pass. This just, you know, wrestling wins. Guida won. He's going to go forward. Looks like Pettis, yeah. He's going to have to work a lot more in his takedown defense, which is unfortunate, because he's still going to defend. He has taken a fence. Looked phenomenal against Roller and against Henderson. Mm-hmm. So, yeah, a bit of a strange thing here, but Guida gets the win. Maybe just an off-night. I mean, he really is one of the top five guys in that division, but-- Well, Guida was hungry. Well, Guida was hungry. He had a really, really strong game plan here. Yeah. And I think he's getting better and better, and he's using the proper game plan. And here's-- He's the guy who's been-- he can be caught. He can't be knocked out. He can be caught. Pettis was throwing an awesome attempting to throw on submissions. Guida didn't think it caught by anything. That's right. Well, the thing about Guida is he doesn't get tired. When a guy's throwing for takedowns like that, he's supposed to gas out by the third round. Yeah. You know, and then if he's supposed to not supposed to take the takedowns and away from the gas out, like Sylva did against Son and-- Guida doesn't get tired. Mm-hmm. Not in the three round, or anyways. So we'll see how that how it works out. Pettis, though, I mean, honestly, he's still probably the better overall rounded fighter. He is-- he's got everything. He's got-- he has everything going for him. Yeah. A lot of potential, but-- Just wasn't his name. I mean, I never really thought that Pettis was ready for a UFC title shot. Even after that great fight with Bendo. And I mean, we called Guida during this fight, so-- That's how I saw it in my head. Yeah, well, you're just-- you're a huge Pettis fan. That's why. Yeah. So then we go forward, Ed Herman versus Tim Crater. Both of these guys were returning to the UFC after a long lay-offs, and Herman won by knockout. Well done. Why was it this the main event? Yeah. I'm just going to-- I didn't care about this one. Oh, what's your turn at that, Herman? Yeah. Kyle's Kingberry took on Fabio Maldonado. King'sberry followed Maldonado one further night here, which is a little bit unusual, because Timmy, Guida, and Pettis should have got it. Yeah. But King'sberry looked great. He's huge. Maldonado, he's quite a spoiler. He took Sony and he's to the head that was-- He did. He's a tough guy. Yeah. And responding with so many body shots, and by the end, King'sberry just was looking crushed. His orbital bow was also crushed. Oh, there you go. Yeah. Maldonado is a tough dude. I hope that they don't cut him or anything, because he's got potential. Not after a fight at the night. Yeah. Oh, yeah. He got the wrong person. No, I'm late, heavyweight. No way. Short-hinded right now. And King'sberry will be over a while. Yeah. So-- That guy's prison. Great. Great fight. King'sberry, he's a great athlete. Maldonado, he's a tough, tough guy. So look for him to be a solid gatekeeper in the division. Yep. Then we go forward to the opening fight on the main car, Chuck O'Neill versus Cripp's Coke. This fight was kind of boring, kind of awful. Chuck O'Neill looked even worse than he did on the ultimate fighter. So tentative. O'Neill crocs under any sort of pressure. You put a blank on this guy. He's going to break under that blood pressure. Yeah. And also, one bright spot is the Coke. I mean, the guy's a hard worker. I got to say, I mean, I give all credit to him. And I think that he'll do fine in the UFC because of how the kind of work that he has. He works hard. He grinds. And the thing is, the fans actually kind of like him. When he was doing this crazy, weird thing, the fans are actually working along with him. He's kind of like, oh, the old school wrestling match. Yeah, the Ric Flair style. They should start him at the bottom and see how he hangs. Keep him around. Obviously, he won this fight. And just start him at the bottom and work him up. He's got to have him get time to get better. But he's got something. Yeah. Chuck O'Neill does not. Yeah. Yeah. So other than that, the Facebook fights were before they started out pretty boring. Stephen's one pretty dominating fashion. Rube crushed Grisby with a devastating body shot. That was a good fight. Not only was it a good fight, but Grisby has now gone from number one contender to on the border being cut in about four months. That's another guy to look out for in featherweight. Yeah. And Jorgensen looked amazing with a crushing knockout from the guard. Looked like it's great to see Jorgensen back and in fine form. So those fights are worth watching, the rest not so much. Yeah.
