It's our review of UFC 129: St. Pierre vs. Shields, which we were fortunate enough to be in attendance for.  We run down the results, including how they came across in the live environment. The rest of the show is mostly us arguing about a potential GSP vs. Nick Diaz fight.  Sorry about any production problems this week, and don't forget to check out our internet only episode discussing the UFC Fan Expo, weigh-ins, and fighter Q&A's.Check out our website at http://www.thehammermma.com and subscribe to our show in the Itunes store.

[music] Hello and welcome to the Hammer! I'm your host Dave, joined as always by my co-hosts. Greg, how's it going guys? And Steve, eh? So you're listening to us live at 93.3CFMU, this Wednesday May the 4th. You can also find us on the Facebook, and as well as our website, thehammermma.com. And you can also find us at addictedmma.com. The Hammer Army is growing. Oh, don't forget iTunes, the Zoon Store, all of the mixed content. We're all over the place. Wherever. Oh. The Hammer Army. So we go forward and we're going to talk about our latest conquest, which is UFC 129. This is a very, very long weekend for Greg and Steve, and it's less long weekend for me. We were there for the fan expo, the weigh-ins, the Q&A's, the talking of fighters, doing all this stuff. And I unfortunately could not make it for anything but the main show and some of the Saturday stuff, because I have to go to my day job. But on our iTunes feed and iTunes Store and all that stuff we have at thehammermma.com, we've got about a half an hour show that we recorded after the fan expo and the Q&A's and the weigh-ins and all that, just kind of running down the whole thing. It was really, really fun to do. Oh, yeah, it was a blast. So we'll talk a little bit about that, but if you want a really good preview or post for you, I guess, of the fan expo, check it out on thehammermma.com. But let us talk now about UFC 129, a great pay review highlighted by a fantastic main event. Let's start with Georgie here. And there were 300,000 people there. There could have been. It sounded like it. Yeah, there was about 55,000 people there. It was pretty great. Every seat was full. I think this was actually more than the World Series for the J's, slightly less than WrestleMania from WWF when they've been there. It was huge and loud and awesome. It was slightly obnoxious at times. Yeah. It was a lot more relaxed than I would have expected. I thought there were going to be fights in the crowd. There were a couple, but for a show that big, there weren't very many people there. There weren't very many fights. I actually thought that the whole weekend from the fan expo all the way to the show to everything. Everyone was really cool. All the UFC people were really cool. They don't have to be this open with the fans and this accessible and really even give you this good of a live experience with such great screens and everything and they do. It's very, very impressive. If you have a chance to go to live UFC, do it. We're so happy that it's legal around here now. Yeah. All right, so let's get to the fights. So yeah, so Georgie St. Pierre with some Jake Shields. Now, this particular fight, there's not a lot to say about this. The story of this is that Georgie St. Pierre is a much, much better striker than Jake Shields. Jake Shields could not take him down. Georgie St. Pierre made him take Shields down a couple times, but chose not to stay on the ground. He always jumped back up. Shields basically didn't even, he tried for a take down a couple times and he stopped trying. Yeah. He just was content to stand. She wasn't going to get it. Well, I mean, he gave up a little too early, especially for some of his talented shields. I mean, I thought he'd be trying for takedowns the whole fight. I was so amazed in this fight. Unrealistically, like, all coming out of this fight, literally everyone. And the three of us were obviously pretty jaded because we watched tons of mixed martial arts. But even on the, you know, coming back, we took the train because we had been drinking a little bit. Everyone on the train was like, this fight was terribly, terribly boring. Yeah. I've checked in with everyone I know that is a mixed martial arts fan. We've checked, you know, the message boards and well, how do everyone's paying this fight? This fight was obnoxiously bad. There's no redeeming qualities about it. The fact that GSB retained. He retained. Honestly, even with that, I mean, he was obviously getting retained. It was shields basically employing a game plan that he shouldn't have employed. It was also GSP fighting his cautious way. Yeah. I mean, he's two cautious fighters in a fight. This fight was like your worst nightmare of what you don't want this fight to be, but know it probably will be. I think, honestly, I think that the fight, though, the fight was boring. I think it was even more boring because of the comparison to all the other fights on the car. What a great time. Oh, yeah. The car was fantastic. So, anything with this was just so anticlimactic. With that being said, George St. Pierre, his eye did get hurt sometimes in the second round. So, apparently, he could not see. Apparently, he was-- Apparently, he got poked in the eye, but it was kind of funny that at the press conference, someone asked Jake Shields, they're like, so what happened to his eyes? They punched him. I think he might be taking credit for something he didn't do. Well, no, he did punch him in the eye later in the fourth round. He did. At that point, like, you know, George St. Pierre's eye was already shut. You know? Some revenge on Josh Costic. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean, everyone after Costic fight, everyone was like, "Oh, George St. Pierre, he came and finished a one-eyed Josh Costic." Well, one-eyed George St. Pierre's need to charge Shields. Yeah. So, uh-- So, want to be said for someone with one eye? I actually would have rather this fight went to the ground just to see what Shields could've done down there. I would have rather this fight went to the parking lot and not been seen by anyone. Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be a barn burner, and I pretty much got what I expected on this one. Uh, and honestly, you can't-- This wasn't a barn burner. This was a barn dowser. The barn dows. Yeah, I know. But you can't take-- you can't take-- Jake Shields is a world-class wrestler. He's a dangerous guy when you get to the ground and Shields is-- and Shields. And GSP was being cautious, and GSP had one eye. So, there were factors contributing to this. I don't think GSP wanted the fight to be that boring. Well, GSP, he basically kept throwing an overhand right over and over again. Yeah, he did a lot. He hit it a couple times, but he never set it up. Oh, and a wacky spin kick. And a wacky spin kick. Never set up his strikes, which-- grade one striking. You should learn. Set your strikes up. Meanwhile, Jake Shields countered with striking that-- so obnoxiously bad. I honestly think that if I fought Jake Shields in a pure kickboxing night-- He killed you. Because his fight looks so horrid. Like, I've never seen a professional fighter look so-- particularly in comparison to everyone else who strikes on this card. I don't know. Well, I think-- That's, again, the key. I think we were watching such amazing fights coming up to this, and I think it looked even worse in comparison. I honestly think that if you put this fight like the striking up against just a normal UFC card, it would still look kind of bad, but it wouldn't look as bad. Like, Shields isn't the greatest striker in the world, but he's still-- Yeah, he's striking. Amateur. Come on, now. Let's let him change his favor if he's not the best striker in the world. He's got to be, like, in this division, in the top ten of the division, of which he is the-- which he is a member of, he's the worst of the top ten by a margin. Curves for striking, yes, for sure. Yeah, if you were talking top ten, well, yeah, I would-- You're pure striking. Pure striking. And pure striking. And pure striking. Yeah. All of them are better. Even Fitch is better than the guy. Well, yeah, obviously, not he's the best. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's just mentioned a lot of people out, and he seems to throw some impressive strikes. And this guy's ever done in his life. So, anyway-- Yeah, so not a great fight. The two big-- the two big stories you hear coming out of the show is 55,000 people, and oh, that made it that was boring, which is unfortunate, but it was still-- The crowd-- GSP-1. GSP-1. They grew up for him winning. They walked out from most part in the fourth and fifth round in droves. If the-- I do think that the fight-- I know that people leave because they want to go and get out before the crowd and everything like that. But if the fight was really excellent, people would have stayed. Or if there was-- Or if there was question as to what the decision would be. That's right. There wasn't any. So what other fights do you ever-- That's what I was saying. We said GSP was going to win, and the question was, "Would shields be able to pick up a round?" Well, the shields generally managed to pick up a round. Through the judges gave it 48, 47. It was a pretty close fight. I don't know why they gave the fourth round, given the fact that GSP dropped them with a head kick in that round, but okay. Alright. So there you go, shields. You are rocky. You managed to go the distance. No, the real rocky story was the featherweight title by-- Yes. Yes. There you go. It's a Jose Aldo in Hamanek. What an awesome fight. I mean, Hamanek lost the first four rounds. The fifth round, he came back with a huge hematoma in his head. He looked-- he was beat up, and he came back, and he gave everything he had to get a 10-8 round to-- I believe two of the judges. Yeah. In that last round, and it was just such a great come-from-behind hometown guy story. It almost doesn't matter that he didn't win. And it was the loudest point of the night for the crowd, too. Yeah, more of them. Yeah, this fight was-- it was amazing. Hamanek looked pretty good against Aldo in terms of striking, even up through this. Aldo had to take him down a couple times. Yes. I think it's more because he was gassing, not because he's an inferior striker at Hamanek. Aldo, obviously, whenever he was hitting anything, it was with power. Yes. And every through a leg kick, Hamanek kind of went diving. But Hamanek was catching him on points. Hamanek was doing salangeabs and low kicks. You know, Aldo crushed him in the fourth round. Hamanek went for sloppy takedown. I'll just be a barrier to him on the ground. Doctor almost stopped it. Hamanek came up for the fifth round against the doctor's recommendation. Oh, the doctor said it was okay. The doctor said it was okay. You could see, so it was cool. Yeah. You can't come out against the doctor's recommendation. You can, actually, Pablo or Guy against Bisming Day. Jorge Rivera. Yeah, but if the doctor doesn't let you fight, you know. If the doctor says no, if the doctor says no, you can't. If the doctor says no, you cannot fight, then you cannot continue. But the doctor says, I don't think you should, but do you want to? You can. The Hamanek's eye was a standard thing. Oh, whatever. Hamanek's eye was a mass. His head was gross. And if he got hit there, he could have exploded. It could have been one of the grossest things I've ever seen in him. But it didn't. In case the fifth round was amazing. Yeah. The fifth round was amazing. The crowd went wild for it. Yeah. At no point did it look like Hamanek was ever in any danger finishing all the off. It looked like all his gas so badly that he couldn't fight back effectively. You know what though? He was on top and he was throwing ground a pound for a 10-8 round. That's enough to get people thinking maybe he can do it. Yeah. The crowd with that building was shaking. They were willing him to just go for that big floor and finish all the off. Well, he even said in a post interview, he said that last minute or so, I was just going straight off the crowd. Yeah. The crowd was what was fueling me. And I believe that. No, I actually believe his stock is up much higher even after the loss. Dana even said afterwards, actually, I believe it was just today, he said that if Hamanek wins two more fights, then he thinks he can get another shot. And that's great because Hamanek kind of locked into this title shot. That's true, yeah. And now he's like the guy everyone's talking about. He was definitely in contention even though he's not really top 10 ranked. He was lucky that the three guys ahead of him lost their fights and they were in Canada. Now he's the guy everyone's talking about. Yeah, any kind of Canadian card, he's definitely going to be on it. Provide the guy doesn't flame out entirely. He's going to become a huge star. I can't see anyone in the featherweight division making Hamanek look bad though in the next couple of fights. Agreed. No, some of the 155ers are moving down. Oh, yeah, that's true. Okay. So now we have to hope for is that USC will be back to Ontario next year. Yeah. And he wins two more fights. Maybe we'll get a title shot. Return match next year. So from the shoot for us now are the wrong possibility for sure. So this got fired the night and both guys walked out with $129,000. $129 for UFC 129. Well, they're in. Yeah. We go forward to the light heavyweight bout between Coatur and Machita. They decided to switch this to the third fight of the night rather than putting it on before Mount Ushanko and Birls. Yeah, which makes much more sense. And they really played up the entrances. He came down. The American flag. The only time the American flag got cured. The reception for Coatur as we predicted was massive. It was so great to be a part of that. Yeah, it was. Coatur in the first round, he gave it his best, but he just was not in Leo's league. No. He couldn't even get a clench on him. Machita just shrugged him off. You know, kept dancing around him. The second round, Machita just kind of fell in his rhythm. And he finished them off with one strike out of Crotty Kid and honest to God, Crane Kick. He threw his hands up and then he had a jump front kick to Coatur's giant chin and knocked him out. It took him right up. It took him right up. He just instilled a kick on Belfort with a jump. Yeah, so the Crotty Kid. And sure enough, Steven Seagal was all over the place. We saw him so many times just walking around the crowd. He was standing right behind him in the way there. He was there. Leo had a lot of momentum. He was a win. He was a win. And in the post-stop fight press conference as well. So I think it's time for all the other serious camps in this. You know, Greg Jackson, AKA, she's a Gracie. Van Damme's not doing anything. John Colvin Damme, get him. Lovelow's are legal. You don't need John Colvin, Van Damme. Yeah, yeah. Well, I mean, the cat is going to eventually, I think the cat's out of the bag now for this kick. I think people are going to start defending this, especially when it comes to guys from that camp. So I don't think it's going to be as effective coming up. I think this is now the second time it's happened. It's not a fluke. People are going to start defending this. I agree. I certainly hope so. Because if I can see another knockout with a straight front kick, I'm going to cry. This madness. But with that being said, you knock out Randy Couture in his career with a flying front kick. Yeah. How much does your stock go up? I mean, I don't like pachita, but good Lord. This is the comeback fight that he needed. Yes. And Couture, you know what? It was a good ending. He went out there and survived a round with one of the top guys in his division. And then got beaten. Everybody loved him on the biggest stage. It's a good guy. You know, the crowd went wild for his goodbye. And I think this was kind of a good point for Randy to say, you know what? I really cannot hang with these guys at this age anymore, which I think is unfortunate truth. Yeah. I agree. So, no shame in that. No shame in that. It's just the sports of all too much. Then we go forward to another guy who's defying time. mack shanko uh... against jason brawls brawls was uh... we have a lot of expectations for me because you know he looks over against no care mack shanko looks exactly like every russian girls father but i was great turn to me and said during this i did not see that you said that to me you said that to me you said that to me you don't even try this i don't think so come on jacos the reason why no one wants to do marisa or something like this is a guy who's going to come and beat you up if you break his daughter's heart you know what his performance was here in my heart i honestly i like that you shanko i mean he got killed by bones but i mean he's a kind of guy he's a kind of guy i don't mind getting behind because he's just he's got that i don't know he's got something about him that you want to get behind he's just eat like the jamter i mean he seems like a working-class guy who comes in there who wants to brawl yeah he's a good hard-nosed fighter yeah and he certainly showed he came right out brawls threw a punch at him that you should go through a punch back that you think it's punch knock brawls out 20 seconds in a minute crochet knock that was really surprising i thought i thought brawls would have been able to take take a live one i thought brawls was going to win this fight to be on a space in his performance against no gara but marisa shanko really pulled something out there yeah this really derailed the brawls thing i mean it was a year ago or so that he fought no gara and everyone was just thought this guy is going to be like the underdog story of the year and now back down to the prelims man maybe they'll make shanko might be the underdog story of the year it could be he's like that hey uh coacher over 40 just retired they need a new coacher maybe it'll be marisa shanko yeah good day uh then we go forward to mark bocek versus ben Henderson good fight uh yeah great fight um the story this has ben harrison striking is amazing his combos were phenomenal uh bocek he got him in the submissions a couple times but as i said no bendos i'm summitable more than can top this guy he worked out of every summation and every time he got out of a summation bocek got stood back up bender just nailed them with flurries of elbows and knees yeah he was cut and bleeding pretty bad so beno picks up your name's decision and i will say this we were at we were so far back from this fight for the full for the full night of fights we were at the we had our back to the wall of the fight runner level the last row of the top upper deck of the roger center we were so far back that like literally like it was almost like watching answer action figures fight it's the point where you could barely tell one fighter from the other except for ben hennerson who's wacky hair was flying around the entire fight which was made so much better you know what uh i'm always a fan of beno's fights i think he like he's again he's the only guy i've called against the canadian so you know i'm happy to see a member i think i don't know you didn't call no i i didn't call elenberger for the reasons yeah well in any case ben hennerson amazing fight honestly the crowd even kind of cheered him because yeah i that was the he was one of the the guys who was facing a canadian who got you know moderately cheered there's no any booze like there nobody booed bendo i guarantee there were a lot of people in that building who had never seen him fight before and he won he won them over he's got a good luck he's got a good style he just he seems like a cool dude we we we love the guy and now i think everybody else is learning to as well he's got new angel wing tattoos yes he does no comment uh prelum fights uh mcdonald versus diaz amazing fight uh oh my god this is fantastic one-sided mcdonald's completely out pointed the guy outclassed him on the feet he was able to line strikes at will diaz boxes like like terrible against the guy with the size and reach to be able to count right yeah that's the thing and the reach advantage was neutralized here so he really got to see what diaz can do against someone his own side he was always afraid of the wrestling and Roy mcdonald had such great wrestling my god he threw him around like a rag doll there were like three back to back to back suplexes in the third round mcdonald's is basically he went for it grabbed them and bellied it back suplex yeah three times row the third one he picked him up and dumped him on his head it's the point where i thought it was a moles on knock out yeah the building literally like you've you've never heard such an eruption the crowd went so wild for so long especially since ds was the most hated guy in an entire building there were there were a chance of f u ds all night and you know i'm i'm a ds fan and after the first round just as a joke i said uh hey ten nine ds it totally wasn't a ten ideas but you guys stood up a bunch of guys stood up like you do not a cool place to be a ds fan it was one of the guys uh but yeah amazing performance by rory mcdonald his last bite was an amazing performance where he almost beat carl's content you just look and you see okay daz faces kim kim is one of the biggest guys in the division could not do to daz but rory mcdonald did to daz i mean this 21 year old kid is something else and we saw some of it against konda but you figure okay well he got he got killed in the third round so what's he going to come back with amazing unbelievable to be able to handle ds so one-sidedly yeah with ds rarely gets thrashed this utterly yeah i've never seen ds get thrashed like this ever yeah i mean his entire lightweight career is like you know close decisions exactly which he usually gets on top of not recently as well as lightweight career he would get on top of this lightweight welterweight he lost a kimini and he's lost this one but he's talking about going back down to to lightweight well it should he is just stuck in that size factor in between where he's just not comfortable in either place it's too bad but rory mcdonald looked awesome yeah uh Sean Pearson versus Jake Ellenberger we said it was too soon for Pearson or at least steve and i said it uh obviously greg discreet and ellenberger's the top guy ellenberger's he's a serious serious guy i was calling with my heart on this one i'm talking about two minutes 42 seconds the first round great punch well done ellenberger yeah guys got rustin guys got strength he's on that list him rick story these carlos condit these up-and-comer guys who you know within a year these are the guys got him for gsp got a lot of tools and they look like they have a really great future yeah so in the uh opening uh rounds which was mostly on facebook although there were so many fast and decisive fights that so many of these guys should mind end up being on tv everyone aired except for one patrick was the only fight that didn't air on tv uh tv or the the pay-per-view yeah um so let's talk with the ones that aired and we'll talk about the ones that didn't uh jibween versus garsa this fight was was very very intense jibween came out looking really really good at first then he went for jump flying spinning back kick and garsa just clinched him did the flying triangle choke submission the night garsa well-deserved what do you say the scarecrow he's a serious serious dude won a lot of respect for me carvin yeah too much well facing Canadian uh she went totally fell into that one he should have done what he did yeah uh jason mcdonald took on ryan jensen these are two veteran guys fighting uh jensen went for a takedown look pretty good and the mcdonald's just kind of worked his way out of it very patient jumped on uh you know jensen's back jensen worked out of that and mcdonald switched right to a guillotine choke one minute 37 seconds tap out into round one another bigger nation for canadian yeah i mean i was really happy to see jason mcdonald come back because he's been one of the long time canadian fighters in in mma so to see him pick up a win in toronto and now he's going to get another u of c fight i'm i'm i'm really happy about that both these submissions were awesome um i think garsa got submission the night based on the fact there's a flying triangle rather than a ground triangle yeah good lord both these were fantastic submissions uh so well done both guys uh i've been menjavar uh the first opponent of gsp and the pride of all solvador made uh his when i think of not sure if his u of cdb but one of his first u of c this is this is his first one back in the u of c first one back in the u of c against charlie valencia they got into clench they were grappling against the cage menjavar pulled back his elbow and slammed him with a short elbow in the nose yep valencia went down menjavar followed him and just club them with elbows and punches knock out no tk o one minute and 30 seconds in round one menjavar looked fantastic well done um and then john mcdessey versus kyle watson this one went with the one almost a distance mcdessey just out pointed watch and constantly looked like a much crisper striker but the real story is the spinning back this third round was incredible yeah just that woke the crowd i mean not that the crowd was bored at all but that was the first big oh of the whole night yeah watson was down for a while just a minute scary knockout mcdessey was throwing spinning back kick so watson thought he was going to get another spinning back kick nope mcdessey looked back saw his hands were down and went for the back fish and just buried him if he doesn't have him for three four minutes if he doesn't have a broken cheekbone i'm going to be surprised he's good he's i was concussion at least at least this was a brutal knockout um they they had had guys walk him out he can get on his own power so just absolutely devastating this should have been knock out of the night except cranking yeah so but this was a better knockout by far i like this attack up there cranking so uh and then lastly patrick versus daniel robert's this was uh it was actually pretty solid fight but just against all the rest of them he kind of got paled in comparison with exception it was the second worst worst fight of the night and that's not really a knock on those just leaps and bounds that had appear in shields but you know still not a great fight um cloud patrick did pretty well fairly fairly back and forth fight the highlight of the fight was in the it was an exchange in the third round patrick came up off of the off the ground went for flurry robert's fell back cloud patrick grabbed them simultaneously forty thousand people all yelled me it was it was insane how did everybody just yelled at at the same time it was like magic yeah like it was just it was an absolute perfect position for any everyone knew it yeah patrick didn't deliver it but he still won you still want to play so walled on cloud patrick cloud patrick's impressive i mean this is what is third there been an erona or something so he's another welterweight yeah he's another welterweight the future kadian future is looking bright and now you have seen the welter division absolutely now we'll talk about this more next week because we don't have a ton of time left but uh the big talk is nick dia's the welterweight strike force champion being the next guy to get gsp because there's no other contenders yeah everyone's saying that there's no other contenders this is a perfect match i think this is foolishness now before no i agree there are big issues with this but bj pen and john fit europe for the rest of the year condits not quite there yet this is a fight that would not be boring and they could sell and and no matter who wins or loses a fight there's gonna be no champion nothing strikes i disagree you know everyone saying that that's going to be the problem i haven't heard anybody mention anywhere that why does he just vacate the belt and go up yeah why not sells all your problems i i want to see this fight and that's and and while they're doing that then you can build up uh condit and story in elenburger and all these guys for the for the next guy i i think it's time ds will never be hotter than this right now yeah i agree i think that you you should fight the top contender in your organization and dia's is the top contender in gsp you should not take you to the top contender in strike force where he's the champion but zufa owns both so i mean strike force might as well be ufc so as long as he doesn't take the belt with them i'm okay with it yeah because if you take the belt away from strike force you killed a division belt that's ridiculous no he would have to vacate the title and then go and fight gsp and what does that say about the strike force title it's very useless which is what everyone already knows so who cares i seriously i honestly feel that this would be like a major major blow for strike force i mean the strike force if you keep the company alive for three more years you can't have the champion saying oh get the spelt off me so i can go fight there you have the real champ well he's already said in in multiple interviews that he doesn't care but i mean he might he might not come back he's thinking to go into box and keep him around for this you know throw some money at him i don't know i i think there's positives i think there's there's negatives to it but i'm curious to see how this develops because i want to see it and i think they can make it work i also don't necessarily think that gsp is gonna be out a little bit with his injured eye that's true too so yeah there's gonna have this time for other guys to see what happens and the other thing is i honestly don't think this will be that much of an exciting fight i already saw what happens when someone with a gsp style fight someone with the ds styles it was more mcdonald than the ds now you can say it's not the same but in ds it's not the same it's better than nate but gsp is better than mcdonald's yeah but the rare mcdonald doesn't fight like gsp ds is a much better striker than just because you're rest just because it's a wrestler versus a jiu-jitsu guy doesn't mean the fight's gonna be exactly the same it's not that's generalizing part too much it's not going to be exactly the same but i don't see to me gsp is going to have advantage here in striking in wrestling he's gonna be able to take this down it will and he's gonna have an advantage in jiu-jitsu i literally don't see how do you ds would win this fight other than a ring like falling on gsp well you can say that about everybody in recent in recent history who's who's gsp fought is a better striker than nik ds i can't think oh gosh it's not a part of our check isn't ds you can make an argument for alvis you can also make an argument for dan hardy no no not even the same not at all yep this is a fight that i think it could pose interesting at the very least it's going to be fun and yeah i'd like to see it uh and what else do we have here uh uh uh i haven't done him's injured he's out of the fight with george sauter opolis rough held the sannyosis in that's yeah i guess i guess i know yes sannyosis is a really good jiu-jitsu guy so it'll be it'll be a fight that's going to go to the ground and we'll see who wins in jesus match which will be sannyosis and run yaya is injured he's out of his match with dust and porrier at ufc 131 member at dust and porrier he he'd be jos crispy and ruined his title aspirations the reason why i bring this up is really this isn't a huge story is they just tapped uh jason young to come in and we saw jason young at the mma the reckoning show and it really that's right and this was like the best like small card fight i've ever seen and they're bringing him into the ufc this is a guy too to keep an eye on he's british correct yes yeah and then that's that's just great and ryan cochir is having his third professional fight at strike force challengers june 24th against the dreaded opponent to be named oh now they date the opponent to be named has many different styles that's true it's hard to prepare for opponents to be here uh with that being said i mean now that zufa's backing nor zufa is in charge of strike force i would have to imagine that challenges is going to start getting us act together uh yeah i don't know if that means good things or bad things for cochir because he's certainly not going to get an easy ride based on his name but they will though if the guy if the guy can fight they're gonna make him fight yeah zufa will definitely find him someone it won't be to be announced it'll be you know a real opponent no greg knowages anymore yeah and just really quickly ultimate fighter last week um is it getting better ratings are better better yes great no i'm still not invested yes i've still invested and what i'll say is this people panned the heavyweight season they panned it of how low quality the fights were since then mittreon shop nelson and not seen have all done pretty well for themselves in the real halfway division they've reached they've stocked their heavyweight division with those guys yeah they have these guys first of all welterweight stocked second of all these guys look like clowns i don't see any of them they've been so far they actually very few of those guys have shown anything i mean you can tell that they're not that experienced and they're not you know very good but honestly i mean most people don't really look that great on tough like i don't expect to come in i'll get you see you right you know it's on tough you know it always it for me it's it's it comes down to after tough they come in they get the first fight against a u of c guy not just another guy from tough then we see what they have to offer training camp yeah but it's getting pretty clear that nelson and shop are going to be able to compete near the top yes particularly shop uh and it's getting pretty cool that mittreon's got something yep i honestly cannot see ramsie or shamar surviving a fight with allenberger well i mean allenberger very few guys are going to guys are allenberger's not allenberger's not the top right now he's in the middle yeah but i know the great record is being everybody there's tons of guys like whoever someone's going to get matt riddle uh exactly if he's still if he's still you know someone's going to get matt riddle or someone's going to jump here since you know like there's potential for some of these guys and you can't really use tough as as the indicator because i mean mittreon was horrible and tough he did he looked terrible like james mick sweetie made him look like a kid and you know so you never you can't really tell much from tough they have to have a training camp they have to have some real legitimate work because the tough training camp it's kind of there for the show right so once they leave tough if they're really committed they go they find a real awesome training camp and then they go in and you see what they've got so far i haven't been impressed by you know any of the fights there was one finish for ramsie yeah uh nothing particularly exciting it's just it's not been a good show so far well we'll see uh tonight show has two fights and this is about the time where two fights in the world things start happening in the show so you know hopefully it improves oh and yeah
