(upbeat music) - Hello and welcome to the Hammer Live at 93.3 CFMU. I am your host Dave, joined as always one of my co-hosts. - Greg, how's it going guys? - And Steve, hey. - So we've got a great show for you this January 19th as we always try to do. We're gonna talk for you about the upcoming fight for the troops two, which is Fight Night 23. And we also have got some news as we always do. - And a lot of mailbag questions, as we've actually accumulated a lot in our mailbags. We're gonna answer some questions for you, including I'm assuming some questions on Brock Lesnar and Junior Disantos. - And Datterbyk. - So let's start with a fight for the troops though, because that's coming up this Saturday. - Looked like a pretty good card for like a free TV show. - Great, fighters card. - This is gonna be an action pattern. - Yeah, this is an absolute fighters card. It's not a lot of names, but it's a lot of guys that like to fight. So you've got Evan Dunham, who's probably the top prospect on his card taking on Melvin Guilliard. Now Guilliard, he's six and one in his last seven UFC fights with some serious wins. So he's actually a pretty good fighter himself. - That's a good striker. - Even though Dunham is the more reputable guy at this point, Dunham was getting close to title shot before he got too early. - Dunham is short. - Technically undefeated, if you think that he got robbed again, short. - You know, that's a bad opinion. - No, he's not technically undefeated. He's technically defeated. So it's gonna be a lot less. I mean, if you can count that loss as being a dispute, but he's technically defeated. In any case, Dunham was close to title shot. Guilliard is the figure of six wins. He's getting up there. - Except, yeah, he just got through. His last three wins haven't been against him. - Yeah, he hasn't really. - His biggest win is against Jeremy Stevens in the last two years. - Yeah, so I mean, that's, that's not-- - But he's also being Dennis Seaver. You know, he's a very reputable striker. And since he's been training with Jackson-- - Oh, I win like this will help a lot, but-- - But he's not gonna get a win against Dunham. - So basically-- - So sure, huh? - Yeah, the win is gonna play out. Dunham is a fantastic grappler with incredible submissions. - He's also just a very good all, he's an all around guy. - He's all around all around guy. - He can hang on his feet. He can hang on the ground. He can hang more than most on the ground. - Yeah, Giard is a phenomenal striker, not particularly wonderful for his wrestling, although he does have some counter wrestling abilities, not particularly known for his submissions. Now with that being said, he's normally known as a guy who's a wild man, who goes out there and swings for knockouts. - He's a ballsy, exciting fighter. - In his last fight though, with the new Greg Jackson philosophy, he came up purely conservatively, went for a point-based strategy, and beat Jeremy Stevens on points, with a lot of kicking and dodging. - He was very hesitant in that fight, something you don't normally see from him. - He was able to do the impossible task of having Jeremy Stevens not get fighter the night. - Exactly, well I would expect those two would have the fighter the night. - Oh yeah, for sure. - They just only did it like that, and this was not. - He changed his strategy completely. I mean, if he comes in cautious in this fight, I mean I guess, I guess being cautious can't hurt him, because Dunham's dangerous, but at the same time, you can't just dodge around and do this, because Dunham's just gonna shoot on you and take you down. - And honestly, he took this, Guillera took this fight, not last minute notice, but this is supposed to be Kenny Florian. He's taking that spot. He doesn't have a lot to lose going into this fight. If he goes out there, has an exciting fight, and beats a top prospect in Dunham, that's a big win for him. - That's the thing, is Brian Allenburger. It was like, could it be Ben Saunders? - Oh yeah. - He went insane from him. He thought the exact same thing, taking that fight against the last minute on Fitch. He's like, oh well, I'm taking it on the last minute, so even if I lose, it's not gonna count too much against me. - And they cut him. - Yeah. (laughs) - Well, very good point. But I mean, he looked horrendous in that fight. - Yeah, because Fitch fell them down. Fitch was obviously gonna do. He's a striker with no counter wrestling. - Yeah. - Now, in this particular fight, Guillera, I mean, if you're thinking, oh well you know, I'm taking it on the last minute notice, so they're gonna be very forgiving for me. Not necessarily. If you put on a crappy fight, after putting on a crappy fight before this. - Yeah, exactly. That's the thing. If he's going to, I mean, he's gonna compete, but he's gotta compete in an exciting fashion, because he's on the cusp right now. If he has an exciting fight, even if he loses against Dunham, he'll still, you know, have a job, and he'll still be on his decent trajectory. But if he has a boring fight and loses, he's in real trouble. - Particularly because the lightweight division is so stockable, man. - Yeah, as we talked about last week. - So I mean, they've got a lot of room, a lot of guys that they're looking to free up some space. Guillera put him to boring so last time, and you gotta figure against Dunham? - He's not gonna out point Dunham. Like Dunham will take him down and just win on takedowns. - Dunham's got a very, very good tight advantage in this, so he can definitely hang with him striking-wise, but Guillera is a phenomenal striker, and he's very, very quick. He has a very, very good, lunging style. He's like, well, he boxes almost like a fencer. - Yeah. - He dives in with his jab, and then he dives back out, which is what he was doing against Stevens. - But you can win a striking battle for four minutes and 55 seconds of a round, and then one takedown just swings it in the judge's eyes the other way. - You gotta figure though, if I was Greg Jackson and I was playing a fight for Guillera against Dunham, I wouldn't want to go wild with strikes 'cause you're gonna get taken down and submitted. I definitely wouldn't want to match up with a guy in the ground 'cause he's done him as a beast on the ground. My strategy would be score some points with some jobs and low kicks, and then get out of dodge, and don't let him shoot on you. Stay away from him, and I would have to imagine that would be Guillera's plan for this, is hit him with a job, and then get it clear out of dodge and stay out of his shooting range. - He doesn't speed a lot of guys, but he hasn't beat a lot of strikers. Like he's-- - This is true, this is true. - I still think he's fairly untested. He had a split decision win over Tyson Griffin. That's the toughest striker he's fought if I'm not mistaken. - Shirk, who is probably toughest of all fights. Shirk is a wrestler. Shirk's a grappler. - And Shirk was a-- - And Shirk was very good. He looked great against Shirk, but that was a grappling fight between two grapplers. - So I'm wondering if a guy like Yard could maybe run circles around him? - Do you think Yard's a better striker than Tyson Griffin is? - Absolutely. - In his pulling game, Yard's definitely faster. I know, I think Griffin's probably got heavier hands, but Griffin is faster. I'm sorry, Yard is faster. He's more precise with the strikes. He's got a much better job. He's got a much better, he's got a much more diverse striking game. Griffin likes to throw haymakers. - Yeah, he does. - Yard's got a job, a low kick, a knee, an elbow, a left hook, a right hook, and knock up power in his hands and feet. - I almost consider that-- - Yard killed my guy. - Done with a better chance against his lower end because they would fight on the ground. He would have the high advantage. I just thought that it was a better matchup for him. I just don't, I do really do think that Dunne is gonna win this, but Yard could very easily come out there and throw some great striking combinations and beat him on his feet if he can't get him down. And he's training with Jackson. It's not like Yard doesn't have wrestlers-- - Yeah, that's definitely an exercise to train like. - It's definitely an X-Factor in there. - The key to this fight-- - The man with the towel X-Factor. - The key to this fight for Dunne is he's gotta get the fight to the ground. The key to the fight for Yard is he can't let the fight to go to the ground. - Oh yeah, he's got a deal in that. And I'm honestly thinking, as much as I love Dunne, as much as Dunne is a top prospect, Yard, the way he was fighting Stevens, I don't think that Dunne has fought anyone with that style. And if you look at the guys from that gym, GSP, Clay Guida, they've developed this very elusive, standing, smother style. They've evolved from the lay-and-pray to now they smother you on their feet to make him look more interesting. I think that's what Yard's gonna do here. I'm calling Yard to win this one by Upset. I think he's gonna pick up the decision. - I think he has a better chance than most people are giving him credit for, but it's still gonna be Dunne was fight. Dunne was just too good. Yeah, Dunne him all the way. - Okay, so we go forward. Matt Metreon versus Tim Hegg. Now, Meathead Metreon is a top football prospect who's come in to the UFC. He's very, very athletic, very big. He's been cutting from about 275 to make this fight. - He's got a really strong power punch. - Good power punch. - He's got a lot of power on his hands. - Ridiculous chin. Well, I mean, it hasn't been tested to a strong degree, I mean-- - He's going to come to the market of Mark Jones. Both managed to handle some good shots. - Yeah, but I mean, those guys like, you've got Marcus Jones, Kimbo. I mean, these are guys from the ultimate fighter, has Metreon faced someone of true power punch in caliber. - He's been in there with very, very tough guys. - Yeah, I mean, Metreon's got a great chin, but this is gonna test it a little more, I think. - Now, Hegg, he's got a mixed record. He's three and three in the UFC. - He got cut after his last loss to a very even Felicia Beltran, but since then, he picked up two wins outside of the UFC against the top competitions. Very, very good, you have seen on everyone. - Zach Jenson being one of them. - Yeah, I actually think he's more well-rounded than the people I give him credit for too. I mean, he's subbed to Pat Berry, who's not-- - Yeah, exactly. - Who's not known, you know, referred to as submission defense, but to be able to even get a hold of Pat Berry is pretty impressive. - I mean, Pat Berry, the level of boxing and striking that Pat Berry has, to be able to circumvent that and get him in a sub, that's pretty impressive. Like, I mean, Hegg's Canadian too, so I'm always gonna be behind him. - Hegg is, when boxing, we would call a dream. - Yeah, yeah. - He's a solid, competent fighter, fairly well-rounded. He's not gonna like the role in a fighter, but he's a very, very tough test. - And he's the kind of guy that he's appointed if he's a opponent, and underestimates him, they'll pay for it. And the Daltran fight was pretty entertaining, I might have remembered. - And Hegg also likes to swing, likes to punch. Now, Mitrion, he likes to put on a show. - Yeah, he does. - He's not a particularly technical fighter, but he likes to come out and brawl. So, I mean, that's, in a lot of ways, that plays to Hegg's strength, because he's not a guy who's gonna take Hegg down, he's not gonna smother him, he's gonna stand in front of him and throw punches, Hegg's gonna stand in front of him and throw back punches, as can he turn into who can take the most punches over three rounds. - Like, I don't think Mitrion wins this, I think it's gonna wind up being by knockout. I don't think that if you go Mitrion Hegg for the full three rounds, that Mitrion's gonna out point Hegg. I think that Hegg is better. I think Mitrion has more power, but I think Hegg is a better overall striker. So, if Mitrion is gonna win this, it's by knockout. Hegg could take it to decision and win an exciting decision on points. - So, what's your call for it? - I gotta call Hegg. He's Ice Canadian, I gotta call. - Hegg's as good as that. - I actually think that Mitrion, I don't think he's as dumb as people think, and I think he's, actually, he's picking up the game very quickly. I've seen him go for subs in recent fights and things like that. I think he's becoming fairly well-rounded, but I think he could beat him. - Okay, I'm gonna be the dissenting opinion here. - And this is a close decision for him. - Oh yeah. - I'm calling Mitrion. Mitrion's been three and no since it came out of the Ultimate Fighter. He's beaten everyone he's fought. He showed that he's diversifying his game. He's training with the right guys. He's training with a good team. And I mean, in his most recent interview, he said, the thing he does well as a football player is he watch tape of his opponents and he gets their towels and he learns how to strike them. And he's saying, you know what, I think I've got the formula for beating Tim Haig. Well, the formula for beating Tim Haig as proved by Todd Duffy is punching in the face. - Well. - Tim Haig is-- - There are the ways to beat him. - Honestly. - Matt Mitrion has got a good heavy punch. Haig does not have particularly stunning striking demands. - Beltran and Tuctur are both powerful guys, too, and they didn't knock him out. - Yeah, I think your game plan is, oh, I'm gonna punch him in the face and knock him out. - Mitrion's-- - Oh, my gosh, sir. - To me, Mitrion is more powerful in my mind than Tuctur or Beltran, maybe not as powerful as Duffy, but I definitely think he has the power to put Haig away. - Oh, he definitely does. - That's why I say if Mitrion wins, it's going to be by knock out. - I don't think that Haig has the kind of striking defense to not get knocked out, to not get hit. I think that Mitrion has evolved enough of a game plan that he can keep Haig off of him and he'll knock him out. So that's my call, Mitrion by knock out. - All right. - I'm gonna go forward, the featherweights are making, I think this might even be the view for featherweights. - On TV, maybe, yeah. - So, no, 'cause Nan Phan-- - Oh, Nan Phan Phan Phan Phan Phan Phan Phan Phan Phan. - There's Bantamweights out of the game. - One of the first featherweight fights, and an important one because Dana Wendes said, if Mark Hominick wins this fight, he gets Jose Aldem in Toronto on April 30th, yeah. - And honestly, George Rube, he's probably pretty close himself. - No, he's got a very, very mixed record. - One, one, and one. - He's like, he's like, he's like, he's-- - That's the definition of mix. - Yeah. - He's like, he's like close to anything. - But, I mean-- - He's not close to any. (laughing) - But, I mean, Rube is coming-- - A couple of more credit than that. - Rube is coming off an impressive win. - Not gonna be this, it was pretty awesome. - It was pretty awesome. - They need credit where it's due. - They need someone to face Jose Aldo. - It won't be Rube. If it's not Hominick, if it's not Hominick, if it's not Hominick, it could be Mendez. Yep. - Fair enough. So, this is Hominick's chance to do what Josh Grisby did not do in his particular fight. Hominick has gotta win this one if he wants to face Aldo. Hominick is an elite striker. Pretty good, well-rounded, good chin. Okay, defense for submissions. Rube, also feather wave. Very well-rounded guy. - Yes. - He's gonna have that fantastic knockout kick. - I have his feather wave, too, because he caught it. But he knocked out a guy who, his gimmick is that he doesn't defend himself. But also that he's tough enough to take. I had to take a lot of shots. I mean, Rube showed that he's got some power. - Yes, Oi, I'm not saying he doesn't have any power, but-- - I think Hominick is gonna, I think Hominick is a masterful striker compared to Rube, and I think it's, I mean, if Rube tries to stand and trade with him, Hominick's gonna eat him alive. - You can tell the day that it's faith in the guy to come out and say that he will get a title shot if he wins this fight. And I think he's right to be that sure of Hominick. Yeah. - I have to agree with you guys on this one. To me, Hominick is, I don't see Rube being able to take Hominick down or submit him. And I think in a striking fight, Hominick is gonna kill him. Hominick is a fantastic striker, and he's very, very technical. He doesn't just go for wild swings and knockouts. He picks his opponents apart, weakens them, and then he knocks him out. - I mean, he's-- - He's one of the most blunt strikers out there. I mean, he's not to the striking level of Jose Aldo, but he's close. - Yeah. - He's very, very close. - Based on striking alone, he is close to Jose Aldo. - And that is the fight I wanna see so, so badly. - Yeah, so I mean, I think he's gonna out strike Rube, and I think he's the man to take on Aldo. I don't know how I'll do against it, but-- - Yeah, we just have to-- - He doesn't get wrist speed. (laughing) Keep in mind, I mean, they could also give it to Garcia as well. I mean, Garcia's still floating around. - Yeah, Garcia has had two controversial wins. - But in that division-- - Maybe he won it, but-- - But-- - You know, I think they'd go Mendez before Garcia. - Yeah. - Yeah, probably right, yeah. - In any case, then we go forward to more heavyweights. - Pat Berry makes his return to take on Joy Beltran. Now-- - This is gonna be fun. - Pat Berry is coming off of a loss to Crocop, but he's a fantastic striker, a very, very good coach of strength. - And he said that early on in that Crocop fight, he broke one hand and one foot. - Yeah, he was hobbling the whole match. - He said he was fighting with his wrong hand and wrong foot. - Yeah. - And that's why I was positive he was gonna destroy Crocop, and assuming he doesn't break his hand and his foot on his opponent, then on Beltran this time, I think Berry has to win. - Well, if there's a guy that you're gonna break your hand on, it's Beltran. Beltran's got a really, really tough chain. He's very, very solid. He's very, very tough. - This one I don't think is gonna finish, but Berry is going to take this by decision. - So, all right, Beltran, he's two and one of the OCs. Beat to Hagg and his beat to Gracie. Hollis, Gracie. - Oh, that was the Hollis, Gracie fight. Oh, man, I remember that. Oh, that was awful. That was the only candidate from a baby. He doesn't get good points from that. That was terrible. - I think Hollis got kicked out of the family for that fight. Oh, man. Anyway. - Beltran trains with UC Luminary Brock Lesnar, so. - Hey, Beltran's no joke. - No, no, not at all. - This fight's gonna be awesome. This is actually, I think I'm gonna call this my early pick for fight of the night. There's a lot of options on the sky. - There is a lot of options, but I think this one's gonna, the Miller fight will be a close second, but I think this one's gonna-- - It's gonna take five to nine. - It's gonna Hagg has got a potential to do it if they both go with this man. - There's some options on this guy. - Yeah, there is. I'd like to fight. - And speaking of women. - Well, Matt, Wyman, the wrestler is gonna be taking on Cole Miller, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert in the lightweight division. Now, Miller's been making some waves for himself. What are you guys talking about? What are you guys talking about for this? - I like the idea of this fight. These are two guys who are just, one of them's ready to break out of the pack, I think. And a win here for either guy is very, very big. Wyman has my favorite submission of, in years, but I just think he's outclassed in that department facing Cole Miller, and I think Cole Miller will beat him. - Yeah, I mean, I like Cole Miller 'cause he beat Junie Browning. I don't like him very much 'cause he beat Ross Pearson, but I think that he's the better fighter in this matchup. And I think, and he's on a streak. Like, he's got a breakout soon. I have been waiting for Cole Miller to break out. And he's gonna break out. - Not be surprised if Matt Wyman beats him, but I think it'd be a great fight. I think Cole Miller will like that. - This is one of the closer fights. I have to agree with you. I do think that Cole Miller's got, this is gonna be a grappling match. I think that Cole Miller's a better grappler, so I do think that Cole Miller's probably gonna pick up the submission. So let me go forward. We've got some prelim fights. - Dana White leaves us. - He is trying to find the most ways he can to get prelim fights to us. And now, if you go onto Facebook and you like UFC sometime this week, then you get to watch these next two fights on Facebook. - As I press the like button. - Yeah, yeah. - And you can't just enjoy it. (laughing) He's in your brain. But normally, we wouldn't get prelims for something like this, so awesome. I love it, yeah. - And the prelim fights for this are gonna be Demarcus Johnson versus Mike Geimann. Now Demarcus is a pretty exciting fighter. - Oh yeah, he almost always delivers. He doesn't always win, but I really like him. He's a tough guy. - He's always win, but he always tries. Mike Geimann is a game guy too. So these guys, these welterweights will be looking on a put on a show. - Geimann, I'm not totally sure. I mean, he was Roy McDonald's first win. And his only really big win is against Yoshida. I don't know, I think Demarcus, this is the level of guy that Demarcus should be able to beat. Yeah, he'd be on an army base, so it would be like the extra soldier win. - Yeah, I agree. I think Demarcus is gonna take this. And I'd like to see him take this. - Yeah. - And then Cody Mackenzie, the Alaskan Fishman is gonna be making his return to try out for his incredible guillotine on EZ words. - Yeah, this is, I'm worried. - EZ is a very, very veteran guy. He's pretty nice. - EZ is pretty nice. - This is not an ultimate fighter alum for the most recent season. This is a real, this is the real dude. - This is like you're a guy, you've seen it all. - Can you beat this guy? - Yeah, I mean, this is his first, this is Cody's first real fight, I think. Like, I say real because his last fight was against Wilkinson, who just came off the ultimate player. - This is the test, this is okay. - This is the test. - Do you belong here? - Do you belong here? Can you take a guy who was a serious, serious veteran? - Yeah. - He's a straight journeyman. EZ word isn't the best, but he has seen a lot. - Yep. - And you gotta know that that guillotine scouted. - Yeah. - So if you can get the guillotine on EZ words, maybe the real deal. If you can beat him by another way, maybe the real deal, but if you can't, then maybe you're just a game fighter. - Now, I'm not positive that Mackenzie's a one trick pony. He showed improvements during the ultimate fighter trying different game plans and things. Maybe it's been a little, it's been, you know, four months or something. - Maybe he's learned something. - His striking is really, really bad. - And his cardio is not, leaves much to be desired as well. I was impressed with his ability to pin up Nam against the fence before he finally gasped. - That's what I'm talking about. - But again, he gasped, then that was a two round fight. He gasped about around in two minutes. - He doesn't strike me as the type that's on the treadmill 24/7 and, you know, jumping in and out of ice and, you know, throwing a snorkel in his mouth. He just doesn't seem like that kind of guy who's gonna train hard and work hard. - He doesn't seem like he's that crazy and devoted to it. - All of that's it. Cody McKenzie by Guillotine. - You know what, I love Cody, I love the fisherman. I think I'm gonna call him by Guillotine too, because he's great. - I have to say that you said what's gonna pick this one up. You guys are nuts. Cody McKenzie's is a Timmy's, you know, he's not guaranteed to be a one trick pony, but-- - I hope the fisherman never lives. - Good lord. - I hope he always wins by Guillotine, I know. - You know, like, you can't be being like five guys in a row by Guillotine at this level. Someone's gotta be like, okay, I'm gonna have to learn how to like tuck my chin, you know. - Eventually when he fights Frankie Edgar, Frankie Edgar will probably have the Guillotine scout in there. (laughing) Frankie Edgar will beat him by Guillotine. Yeah, so I'm still calling Cody. I don't really have any good reason other than I want to see it. - Yeah. - So fair enough, we go forward to the mail bag, we've actually had a lot of questions. - Don't forget Mike Brown's in this card too, I just thought that's right. - Oh, Mike Brown is stating the prelimers are gonna be taking on Ronnie Aya. - Please win, Mike. - That's a bad matchup too. I think he's gonna lift it up. - We should get to the mail. - To the mail. - All right, okay, we actually have a lot of mail here. The first question we got, this is from Hitman Clark. And he says that it came out this week that Alsar over Eames title is not on the line in the strike force heavyweight grand prix. This is the same way they did it with pride's tournaments, but is this the right decision for strike force? - It's a right decision because it alleviates a lot of the logistical problems that they would otherwise have. - They're also emulating a good organization, so, you know. - So I mean, it kind of makes sense. The problem is is that now that this means that your grand prix means nothing. Do I mean, how would you happen before you win? - Because yeah, if over Eames wins the fight, then he just wins the tournament. If he lose, if the winner of the tournament, if they already beat him, they get a title shot at him. - Against him? It's just the guy. - The whole idea of the tournament is just a big cluster. - And we're gonna lose over Eames not the thing. It's title for another year. It's insane. The whole organization. - I like the idea, but don't call it a tournament. Just do the fights. You know, build yourself to the vision. And if you are gonna do a tournament, for God's sakes, seed the BOP 4 guys. 'Cause right now, the top 4 guys are all facing each other, which means that you could see Brett Rogers, who's got a very, very easy first round against a very, very old Andira Orlowski. I'm sorry, Jeremy, Jeremy Barnett. Barnett, coming in. Okay, Barnett hasn't won a fight in years. You've got Andira Orlowski versus Serjay Karrantov. Are you kidding me? - No, I understand why they're doing it. - They're doing it so that they get the big fights in before guys get injured. They don't want squashes in their tournament. So, I mean, yeah, the tournament thing is ridiculous. - You rehabilitate one guy on the other side of the bracket. He gets a couple of wins, and you made another main event here for another-- - No one's gonna care about the main event. - Okay, let's see, let's see, let's see this happens. 'Cause this is entirely likely. Overing loses to Verdume, who's our loss here before. - Yeah. - Fedor loses to Antonio Silva, who's a very, very tough fighter, a very, very credible threat. - That's possible. - Brett Rogers takes up Barnett. - Obviously. Gets a lucky knockout on Silva and wins the tournament, having already lost crushingly to Fedor and overing, both of whom are coming to come in off losses. - Yeah, yeah, the guy wins the tournament wins the tournament. - You know what, the reason Strike Force is doing this, as you said, Steve, is to get the fighters, to fight, and to actually have Fedor fight, and have overing fight, and all this. So, I mean, to even take this tournament seriously is ridiculous, you just have to enjoy it fight by fight. - I'm definitely, like I said, it's a good concept, but keep in mind, there is disaster potential here, and whenever there's Strike Force, and there's disaster potential, I'm always like, okay, we'll be gone, sorry. - On the plus side, it's highly likely all the fights anybody will wanna see will be done by the fall. And yeah, then who cares what happens after that? - Exactly. - Strike Force will be gone by then. One of our listeners seems to care, Royal wrote in, M1 Global has asked for strict drug testing for the Strike Force heavyweight Grand Prix. How will this conflict with Scott Koker shopping the event around to different states during the tournament? You've already got Barnett, who isn't licensed in a whole bunch of places. - Yeah, because it's Joe Prom. - Is this even worth the trouble to have him in there? I think Fedor is afraid of overing. - Yeah, oh yeah. - That's been established, I think. - And I don't know, is this just gonna be the biggest disaster for reasons in just the seating? - I honestly think that at this point, if over him is on steroids, which is entirely possible almost likely, he's figured out how to beat the test. Same with Barnett, Barnett's already been caught before, you guys got it wise. - The thing is though, when was the last time, when was the last time over him fighting Strike Force against Rogers, right, a long time ago? Did they even test in K1? 'Cause it's Japanese, right? - Japan. - Pride never tested. So they don't test in K1. So, I mean, he could be on steroids for a while. - Yeah, but he knows. - He certainly, he knows when the fights are coming up, he's got plenty of time to cycle off. - Oh, yeah. - You know, but you can test how you want. - No one was asking for stricter testing for these fights. - Sure, so, okay, give it to him. - Yeah, I agree. - No one can cut. - That would pretty much cut a couple of these guys out of the tournament. Yeah, like half the tournament. - Yeah, I would say give it to him, honestly. Why not? Say, okay, fine, we can do the test as strict as you want. Hopefully, Vader himself passes as well, because he fought in Japan for a long, long time. You know, and if Overim can't pass, okay, well, then let's have that conversation then. But, you know, Overim's got plenty of time. I would have to assume that Overim is gonna be able to pass his drug test. - Yeah, he's got a figure. - He's got to have figured out a way by now. - I'm not saying that, like, I think he's clean. I'm just saying that if he's not clean, he knows how to pass that test. - Yeah. - And Kimbo Slice, he is now doing Pro Wrestling in Japan. Like, Glennie asks, is this a better fit for Kimbo? - Yep. - Probably. - Yeah, really. - He got tons of charisma. - He got into the fight game too late. He's also supposed to be on the season of Survivor. - Oh, no, not anymore, that was a host. - Disproved rumor. - Yeah, so. - No, it's definitely having him, having Kimbo as a character, and where he doesn't have to, you know, he's not gonna train his hard, he's not gonna hurt his knee as much, 'cause his knee is in real trouble. So. - He's well on the way to becoming another bobsap. - Yeah. - Huge celebrity for his fighting prowess, who can't really fight that. - Well, this fight he's taking should have been bobsaps under years eve, I believe, so he's just filling that role. - Kimbo should have gone to, I think Kimbo should have gone to Pro Wrestling or out of the bat. I think off that YouTube stuff, he should have gone right into wrestling. - I think he needed this a little bit, just to legitimize himself a bit, and then now is the perfect time for Pro Wrestling. - Oh, yeah. - I don't really care what Pro Wrestling goes. - And then, X-Pock Heat, yes, for somebody who obviously doesn't like wrestling X-Pock Heat here, the president of FEG says that they are going to die under their current plan. How do you think it's gonna affect Dream and probably K1? When the president is saying, yeah, we're in deep trouble. - Well. - Well, we knew that for a while. - Yeah, Dream, I've been calling for a death of Dream since before I was calling for a death of Strike Force, I'm calling the death of them for a while. Eight months now. Now, honestly, the thing about that is, both these companies are probably gonna go down. I think Dream is gonna go down first, because I think that K1's is a stronger brand. I think they're gonna full Dream to protect K1. K1 will survive, I would imagine, into the next year. They'll probably do another two Grand Prixs. After that, if they're not making money. - If the network even wants the back after the rating of the last one. - Yeah. - K1's also a different sport than the big guys, the UFCs. - I think that that. - Like, K1 based on that can survive just because they have something different to bring to the team. - But when you have no money in your bank account, how are you gonna put it on? Show was like a talent. - Well, I didn't say that we're gonna survive. It said we're gonna survive longer than Dream. - Gotcha. - Yeah, for sure. - Dream's already lost, the kid you have a motive's gone. - I think if you full Dream and take that money, you'll have enough money to do another Grand Prix. If you do Grand Prixs and you don't pay overing, overing rates, you can make do. Peter Airta's gonna fight for cheap. Sammy Schill's gonna fight for cheap. Get these guys in there, put on some biz, put on a Grand Prix every year, don't do no Grand Prix fights, and you might be surprised how long you can survive. Bell towards an economic existence forever off that corner. - If Peter Airt can survive. - No, I know, I know. - That guy's old, but he can still go. - And yeah, this one's from Brandy. TMZ says that today that Dana White has said that women will never fight in the UFC. Should they? - He's been fighting, he's been saying that forever. - I don't see a problem with it. - Now it's actually yellowed in the news. - Well, current. Dana, even before Dana has been on the record saying that in his mind, women are pretty and he doesn't like to see them fight. Now that's his personal prejudice. I personally am a big fan of women's MMA, and I've got-- - I support it. - I did too. - The only thing I like about Strike Force most of the time. Yeah, he did the only good matches. Unless Melendez fights. But even the last Melendez fight was kind of boring. - You know, as far as whether women will ever be in the UFC, - Dana says no. Dana says, Dana saying no, honestly, between him and the Fatima brothers, it's their company. They don't want to be part of it. Now, keep in mind, it is a sport but it's also an entertainment medium. - Yep. - If Gina Chrono comes back and starts getting, you know, 300, 3.1 ratings and whatnot, you know, 300,000 buys, 400,000 buys. - After her big Steven Soderbergh movie. - After her big Steven Soderbergh movie. You know, if the money's there, the money's there. But right now, there's no one other than Gina Chrono and maybe Cyborg was a huge draw. - And the only way Gina Chrono comes back is if Cyborg isn't there, yeah. - And also right now, UFC is so packed with so many divisions and so many guys. - That's true, it's a lot. - They're not hurting the town. They don't need, even if Gina Chrono came in, where are they put her on the card? - Yeah. - I'm okay with her being a separate organization for her but there is no room for the video. - I definitely like, you know-- - As long as I can watch them fight. - If Dana said, you know what, I've changed my mind. Now we're gonna rehabilitate the WBC brand and we're gonna make it women's extreme cage fighting. And we're gonna get all the final players to put them in her. - It's a great idea provided you have the depth of talent. - Yeah, and you know, it's okay, we're gonna run like an ultimate fighter for women. Fine, I would watch that. I realistically would. I do support women's MMA. I just don't think that the UFC needs it and I don't think that Dana wants it. - Yeah, I agree. - I mean, you can think he's the sexist pig of you if you want for that, but the guy doesn't want it. - And since all over the discussion has been about different organizations for most of the show. Bellator, there's lots of bit of information. Bellator, they've got the first season on MTV 2 coming up in March. The first episode airs against a huge strike force show, Episodes 3 and 4 against UFC pay-per-views. - Wow. (laughs) - So-- - They've eaten an existence for so long. - You know what, though, I mean, I would rather watch Bellator than strike force. - They're gonna lose UFC, but I would, as I said, I'd rather watch Bellator than strike force. - It's gonna hurt. - It's gonna hurt, but they've gotta do it. What are you gonna do? - Yeah. - Now, one last quick question, because we were almost at a time. - We were pretty much at a time. - Someone asked us about whether we thought was a good idea for Brock Lesnar to take on Junior DeSantos, given that Brock is a mounting man who's anti-social and Junior DeSantos can't speak. - It is absolutely a good idea. - Junior DeSantos is the biggest thing that you think Brock Lesnar comes from a wrestling background. I mean, the guy might be anti-social, but he's also over-exaggerating how anti-social he is. - He knows how to, like he's playing a character, and that's the best way to succeed on top. I mean, he plays a great character. I mean, I'm still a big Brock Lesnar fan, and I'm a big DeSantos fan. I'm watching every episode of this thing. - Yeah, so, I mean, I definitely think that, and the other important thing to keep in mind is, they've gotta renegotiate their spike contract. So if you're gonna put on like, favor and cruise, cruise is injured, he can't do team work. - Not yet, yeah, too early. - And you don't wanna do that in your last year of the contract and have a weak rating. You want a big rating. - You want your biggest rating. - So you can renegotiate the best contract you can. - That's Lesnar DeSantos. - As much as GSP is drawing, Brock Lesnar is still a bigger draw than GSP. - That's true. - So he's the guy you have to put on. - They want this respite TV, 'cause they gotta renegotiate their contract. That's why they're doing it. It's not because-- - This is nothing but good. - So, that's my opinion on that. Well, thank you for tuning in for us. This is a, hopefully you enjoyed the show. - Have a good week at www.thehammermma.com. Have a good week.
