[Music] Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the Hammer. I'm your host Dave joined as always by my good friend Greg. How's it going guys? And of course my combat and arms Steve and he is back this week from his concert. How was the concert Steve? Oh, it's okay. That's okay. Patrick in Toronto. Sorry. I've been complaining about there. Hopefully someday we'll see MMA in Toronto. So we've got an interesting show for you. We've got the results of the UFC 117 that we want to talk about in a little bit. We've got some previews and some news as always and of course you're listening to us live on 93.3 CF MU and as well you can find us on the Internet and our new website. Thehammer MMA.com. So it is now thehammer MMA.com. Hammer spelled correctly. Yes. And you can also find us some iTunes as well. So we've switched over to make it a little bit easier to find for everyone. So let's start with UFC 117. We're going to go down the preliminary card very, very fast. We started with Ben Saunders versus veteran wrestler Dennis Hallman. How the mighty have fallen. Yeah. Ben Saunders had so much potential. And so it happens when you're one dimensional. Yeah. So Ben Saunders made some complaints about how he hated wrestlers ruining his game. Dennis Hallman, a very experienced wrestler who outwrestled my Hughes, ruined his game. Held him down for three rounds. Let's see that coming. Throw them down for three round state. 29, 28, 29, 28, and 30, 27. All judges gave it to Hallman. No surprises here. Hallman was pretty much destined to win this fight. Ben Saunders, you can hate wrestlers, but you gotta learn how to sprawl and brawl dude. You gotta learn go train with coach. This is a couple on the road. He's gone from a contender to an almost contender to, I mean, probably be on the chopping block now. To us giving him too much time next fight. So Steven Struv took on Christian Warcraft. Struv is the very, very tall Dutch prospect. He came in trying to prove that he didn't just have to rely on his submission game. Warcraft is a beast. He came out and moved Struv with a really one-sided whipping in the first round. In the second round they got into a brawl on the cage. And this was a battle of hand-eye coordination. Struv proved superior. Struv put more craft for the punch. Not them out and TK Oram. They got a couple of punches. Yeah. They got to see this one too because it made the extra time airing. I didn't think Steven Struv had that kind of knockout power. He usually hasn't. I mean, two of his fights total have been finished by KO, I think, but his face was hamburger after that first round. Oh yeah, his lip was huge. I've never seen anything like that. He was uncomfortable to watch. He was definitely busted up, but he showed heart. He showed guts. He showed he could take a punch, which we questioned after Nelson, and showed he could give a punch. Which was also questioned after Nelson. Yeah, so I mean, well done Struv. Hopefully he moves himself back up and maybe not to the main card. I think not to the main card, but I don't know, not too high up to the main card. Yeah. So Tim Batch makes his return against Todd Brown. Batch, a very experienced wrestler himself, picked up in the end of decision 29-28. Johnny Hendrix defeated Charlie Brennan via TK O. Two minutes or 40 seconds to round two. That's on some punches. Hendrix is on a roll. Yeah, he is. That's his, I believe, third in a roll. So he'll probably be moving up the card as well. Dustin Hazlett versus Rick Story. Hazlett was expected to be okay with his incredible submission game. Didn't really work against another dominant wrestler. Story took him to the ground, showed no caution at all about his guard. Pounding him out with punches in one minutes and 15 seconds in to round two. Hazlett's got to get a bit tougher, I think. Hazlett's, this is the second loss in a row to him. I mean, like, you can want to take a guy to the ground, but you got to be able to handle him when you get him there. Yeah. He still got to get some strength. And then Mr. Wonderful, Phil Davis makes his return to take on Rodney Wallace. This is actually a very, very interesting one. Phil Davis dominated this 30-27, 30-27, 30-26. The story of this was how incredibly dominant he was. He countered everything. He shut down everything Rodney Wallace had. This was a completely one-sided crushing. He keeps winning. Word is, he's the next bones Jones. He's the next bones Jones. The thing is, bone Jones is even when he mixed in that unorthodox striking, and he can round and pound you to the ground. Yeah. Davis keeps taking guys' decision, which is why everyone loves Jones, and no one knows Davis yet. Everyone loves a finisher. But Davis and Bones has, like, his competition has been a little higher up than that. Yeah. But, I mean, he, this guy improves his striking. Yeah. Well, isn't Bones younger than Davis, too? They're both the same age, aren't they? They're both the same age. They're both the same age. I think Davis is 24. Oh, really? Oh, yeah. Davis is 23. But Davis is a huge future. Yeah. Oh, yeah. He's a Penn State legend for his wrestling. If he manages to learn how to finish on the ground, well, then he's going to be in it. Well, the strange thing with him is that he had said, after his last fight, he was playing on taking a year off to practice his striking, and that didn't happen. He's right back fighting again. So, hopefully, he has enough time to develop all around before he starts facing the top, the top tier guys. Mm-hmm. Because, I mean, if they, if they've room him correctly, he could be the man that few years. They're content to groom him like Bones, taking it slow and building him up. I think at some point in the future, him and Bones are going to have a match for us. So either a championship or a shot at a championship, that's going to be an incredible match. Don't be surprised. Davis is definitely the guy to watch. See these guys headlining a pay-per-view in about three years? Maybe not three. I don't think it'll be that long. Yeah, some point down the road, these two are going to be have their shots, in my opinion. So, then we go forward to the main card. Junior DeSontos took on veteran Roy Nelson. We said that Roy Nelson would be okay if he took the fight to the ground, but he had to watch out for Junior striking. Boy, were we right. DeSontos dominated Nelson, crushed him, landed everything, took a, broke down out of every single one of Roy's shots, just completely stuffed and completely devastated him, landed uppercuts at Will's one side of thrashing. He definitely made my night. I was so worried about this. I mean, I expressed my worry on last week's show, and while we were watching this, I was standing just on the edge of my seat. Just so worried, because Junior, I mean, he was throwing everything at Nelson. And Nelson's just such a tough dude. He took so much punishment. And I was just worried that Nelson was going to throw out Halmeri and get Junior, but thankfully Junior managed to... And DeSontos has the next title shot. Yeah, which is great. And he's still playing Brock Lesnar in Cape Alaska. Yep, that's going to be fantastic, because he's got an interesting skill set to take on both of those guys. Nelson didn't look bad, man. He tufted out for three rounds. I mean, he had no options. He was gassing a little man, but he was tough. He didn't go down. DeSontos kept punching him in the belly like King Hippo. Yeah, it was interesting. Well, I mean, go to the bar, like Boxers do, but good Lord Nelson's a tough tough dude. I mean... And he dropped Nelson a couple of times. I mean, it's not like Nelson never went down. I mean, he dropped Nelson like once per round. He staggered him a couple of times, but Nelson always kept in the fight. Oh, yeah. He never goes to cage at one point. Yeah. So, and then we go forward to Matt Hughes versus Ricardo Almeida. Hughes looked good. Almeida was the heavy favorite coming into this because everyone thought he was so young and was so technically skilled. Didn't really look that great when Hughes clipped him with a left hook. Yeah. He went about three minutes into the first round. Jumped on him with a headlock. Choked him out at 3.15. Pure wrestler. Got him in the ground. Dominate position on top. Choked him out with a headlock. Hughes afterwards made a comment that he was proud to be a good Brazilian with just a simple wrestling hold. Yeah, he looked at doing it. I mean, he did. People think that Hughes is old because he's been around in the game for so long. What people don't realize is Hughes is 35. He's the same age as Anderson Silva, BJ Penn, Shane Carwin. Yeah. You know, like he's not a young guy or he's not a little guy. He could make another run at the title. And I've said this before. He's fighting like maybe once a year. He's keeping relatively healthy. Yeah. And I mean, he'd keep going like this for a few years fighting once or maybe twice a year. Get string a few more wins together. You could do the Hughes title shot just like Randy Couture. Yeah. I don't think with GSP on top, I don't think Hughes will ever be at that level. Well, with the realistic opportunity for GSP to move up to 185, if GSP moves up, that division's wide open. I don't even think Hughes could get by Fitch or Shields. Fitch and Shields would give him issues because they're both such awesome wrestlers. But he's a good wrestler too. And I mean, there's definitely guys in that division he could handle. You know, Ellen Berger, you know, like obviously. I mean, I don't think he's in the division anymore. So after not making weight. Yeah. Well, we'll go forward to it. And then we go forward to Lightweight's Clay Guido versus Rafael de Sanyos. We were worried that de Sanyos would exploit so Guido is usually not that great submission defense. However, Guido clipped de Sanyos with a strong right hand to the jaw in the first round. In the third round, he put on a choke around the jaw. Apparently, de Sanyos's jaw was broken. He instantly tapped out. He was in the great, great deal pain. He was kind of crunched up against the cage. And even Clay Guido in the post-show press conference was like, I was surprised he tapped. He was expecting to finish him there. But a broken jaw, a comfortable position, he just couldn't take it. And apparently the jaw was broken pretty early in the match too. First round. Yeah, and de Sanyos fought with that for a while. So all credit to him for being tough. The second you put pressure on that though, you can't not tap to that. So we go forward to John Fitch versus Tiago Alves. Alves had some issues with this one as we previously just alluded to. He came in at 171.5 pounds. So not only could he not make weight, he could make the grace one pound they sometimes give you. Yeah. When you miss by half a pound and you decline and you give up 20% of your purse after not fighting for a year and having your sponsors been pulling on you, you got to figure he declined because he was probably so close to death. No more weight to lose. That last round pound was worth thousands of thousands of dollars for him. It was worth at least 10 grand for him. This was a 50 grand fight for him. He gave up 20% of his purse rather than, you know, go and spit. Do you have to spit away that last half a pound? You're not going to lose that last bit away without some surgery. Yeah. And watching this fight, that's a point during it, I felt like Alves must have felt. I felt like, yeah, I felt like I was in surgery. Yeah. John Fitch won as John Fitch always wins. Yeah, he got fitched. He just kept grinding Alves down, kept pommeling him. Alves had no prayer in this. Afterwards, Dana said that it's time for Alves to move up to 185 because he can't make weight at 170. The problem is Alves is 5'9" and he relies on his size to overpower the guys at 170. He goes up to fight the big 185ers. They're going to crush him. If he can't handle Fitch or GSPs wrestling, chainsaw is going to eat this dude a lot. Yeah. He can't go up to 185. I'm sorry Alves, I think it's time for you to move his strike force. Well, I mean, give him the, yeah, we'll see how he can do 185. I mean, he can't fight at 170 anymore. There's no way. He seems adamant not to do. Well, if he's adamant not to, then there's no place for him in the UFC. He's picked up a nutrition coach to try to be able to adjust his weight downwards to 170. But he give it up. Not just overweight, but be looking all lethargic from the weight cut. I mean, he's less competitive at 170 than he would be at 185. In my mind, this has got to be at least a 40-pound weight cut. He's telling me to do this. He's cutting at least 50, like at least a fifth of his body weight to make weight in his division. It was kind of interesting about that fight. That was Dana White before the Fitch fight said that the winner would be the number one contender. Well, then after Fitch grinded his weight of victory yet again. He kind of waffled on it. He said that he's going to have to wait for a decision on the title fight until he sees what happens with Martin Kim and Jake Shields. Well, you know what? I think Dana is just so dead set against giving Fitch another title shot, because it has as great of a fighter as he is. You know, 20-something wins in the Octagon. Well, nine wins in a row. It's hard to be invested in the guy. Nine wins in a row. Eight of them by decision. He's not a finisher. He has no plan on finishing. And the other thing is he won't take the fight that Dana wants in the fight. He won't take on car check. He won't take on some of the guys. Obviously, we do an MMA radio show. We wind up talking mixed martial arts to people all the time. We talk about MMA a lot. And the common reaction when you talk about Jon Fitch is casual fans. People who love UFC, everything. Oh, yeah, Jon Fitch, that guy bores me so much. Yeah, exactly. I mean, it's one thing to appreciate, you know, the ability to do what he does. And I appreciate it, but I still fall asleep during a Jon Fitch fight. Well, we're MMA commentators. And the idea of a Fitch shields match scares us. Yeah. It scares us. Dana's terrified of that. He's like, "There's no way I want to put this as a main event." Mm-hmm. Dana seems determined to do Fitch cost check. Mm-hmm. Which is issues because they train together in that. Well, he wants to break up the hole. He won't fight someone from your camp. Yeah. I think he also wants to bring some interest to a Fitch fight. Because the brother versus the technically brothers, but friend versus friends. Yeah. That brings some emotion to the fight. Mm-hmm. So, we'll see what happens with that division. But I'm thinking of Jake Shields, Beats Martin Kamen. He'll get the next shot. Particularly if he beats it decisively. Yeah. Yeah. If he gets a TK or a submission, he's definitely getting the title shot. Fitch. I mean, you got to finish someone. If you put together two finishes a row, you'll get GSP. How about one finish? Even one good finish nobody's ever had to do. So, we go forward to another finish special, Chael Sonnen, taking on Eris and Silva. This one, Chael Sonnen talked an incredible game before that. Came out being booed. The fans in the first round, Janet Silva. Chael Sonnen said that he was going to put Anderson on his back, beat him up, and turn this into a Fitch fight. Tells us that he's going to walk right up to him and punch him in the face. Yeah. Nobody thought this was going to happen. In the first round, Chael Sonnen ran out, up to Eris and Silva, punched him in the face, dropped him. Silva bounced back to his feet, took another couple hard shots. Silva grounded him, put him on his back, and pounded him. He did exactly what he said he was going to do against the theoretically the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Dominated him for four rounds. Four and a half. Four and a half rounds. 23 minutes of a 25 minute fight, Chael Sonnen was in control. Complete control obliterated him. And then he backed it up. In the first, by the end he was getting cheered. The fans were chanting "Sonnen" because if you talk a lot of smack, people don't like it because they think that you're a smack talker. You come and you beat it up, you back it up, people think talk and expect you. There were also a lot of USA chants going on too. There were USA chants all over that fight. I mean, the crowd, a lot of the crowd wanted, did want Sonnen to win. So, I mean, he definitely earned their respect, but I think it wasn't like everybody in the crowd hated Sonnen and everyone loved Silva coming into this match. There were USA chants in the first round. But yeah, the one thing that I did notice about this match though, I was not expecting this match to be exciting and it was awesome. One of the best matches in the year. This is my top five for the year. John Fitch should watch that fight and take some notes on how to make that kind of game exciting to watch. How amazing were Sonnen's little tricks and stuff. He was boxing the ears and covering Silva's mouth to obstruct his breathing. There was one point where he was on top of him and used his chest and when he bumped him into the mat. He just used everything at his disposal and thought, "Really, for Chill Sonnen is the most perfect 23 minutes he's ever going to fight." He taught such a good fight that we were emotionally invested into it. And that's the thing with Fitch is he doesn't talk. He's lousy on the mic too. I just agreed in press conference and think that he has a bit of a personality. He doesn't bring in the ring. Yeah. Well, Sonnen brought it in the ring. He brought everything in the ring. He showed his beautiful wrestling game at one point. One point in a star. At one point, Silva wrestled Sonnen to the ground, gone top. Sonnen reversed him from the bottom and wrestled back into top position. Just phenomenal. Now, I thought this was a part of Anderson Silva not taking seriously enough because in the first round, Silva looked asleep. Yeah, he did. He got caught in the chin three times in a row and he didn't even have his hands up. So, I think in a lot of ways, Silva was like, "I don't think you're powerful enough to knock me out." Mm-hmm. And I mean, the thing with Sonnen is everyone's saying he landed 289 strikes on Silva. A record. A record. The most strikes ever landed in the UFC fight and it makes martial arts fight actually. More strikes in this one fight than Anderson has taken in all 11 of his other UFC fights combined. Mm-hmm. But to my mind, you landed 290 punches on a dude and you don't finish him. And you barely mark him up. You're a professional fighter. Yeah. You got to finish, dude. Yeah. You got to land an elbow. You got to cut him. You got to do something. That's a problem for him, though. I mean, his issues are he's not really a finisher and he's got bad submission defense. And that came a bit of him in the ass, too. Oh, yeah. Three minutes into the third round. Sonnen looked to be too tired to pass, sorry, fifth round. Sonnen looked to be too tired to pass guard as he did in all the rest of the night. He got lazy, stayed in Silva's guard, landed some elbows. Silva had previously hit him with down elbows from the bottom. He was cut on the eye. Silva tapped him on the eye, saw him reared up, and Silva immediately went to a triangle choke, tapped him out three minutes left or two minutes left in the round five. Three minutes turned a tide after a 23-minute beating. Yeah. That was funny. When we were watching this, Greg and I were talking. Greg's like, "I think at this point you can't Anderson Silva up." I'm like, "If anyone can throw up a helm area at this point, it's Anderson Silva." Constantly during that fight, I kept saying at the beginning of every round, "Nope. Anderson Silva can pull something out. We can pull something out. You know, Sonnen will make a mistake." And halfway through round five, I think I said just in the middle of the round, I was just like, "You know what? I think this is Sonnen's fight." Two seconds later before I was trying to answer the second, I finally realized it. It was just snatched away from you. Yeah. So submission of the night obviously goes to Anderson Silva. However, he shares an honor with Matt Hughes. Each of them taken home $60,000. Both deserved. Both well deserved. Both don't need it. Not go the way it goes to Stephen Stroove, who got that impressive knockout over Christian Warcraft. Deserving and does need it. Deserving and does need it. And I said, "I can't believe they're giving submission of the night to Anderson Silva, but not fight the night to Sonnen because do do some money from that." Sure enough, they gave fight the night to Anderson Silva and Shale Sonnen. It was pretty awesome. This was an incredible fight. Even though you know what happened, you can know the Civil One tracked down this fight. It's very interesting. It was heartbreaking. And the other thing with it is, I thought they were going to try and make it a controversial vision to finish because Sonnen looked like maybe I didn't tap. You have to. Yeah. And in Silva looked kind of like, "Oh, why is this guy saying that he didn't tap when he walked away?" But the second Sonnen popped up, you could see in his eyes, he was like, "Yeah, I lost the fight." Yeah. I mean, he didn't have, there was no look of protest at all. Yeah. Sonnen was actually very, very classy and defeat. He said, "You know, I came up with a silver medal. I couldn't quite do it. I came up short. But I'm going to fight for a championship. That's my entire goal. And I will be back." So, I mean, well played, both of them come stars. If they do a rematch, it's going to do big business. Huge business. Hopefully they do that. But fortunately, Anderson Silva, he complained of having injured ribs going into the fight. Well, now he has cracked ribs. He'll be able to till early 2011 at the earliest. They're saying March. Yeah. And so, yeah. Who knows why? Well, I mean, that's only, that's why eight months. Yeah. But, I mean, immediate rematch would be great. Vitor Belfort is still waiting on the wings. Maybe do Belfort sonnen next for the shot. I don't know what you do, but... Well, my thing with Belfort... There's finally interest in Anderson Silva and his title right now. And it's a shame that it's going to be on hold for him. Yeah, I guess. My thing is, I don't want to share if they will go for an immediate rematch, because I got to figure Belfort's been promised something. Yeah. He's been sitting on the shelf for 12 months now. Look at the jumpage thing. You can, Dana White can promise you anything. Yeah. But the thing with Belfort is Belfort's been sitting on the shelf for 12 months now from Rich Franklin, and he's going to sit on the shelf eight more months for Anderson Silva to come available. Well, he's going to fight somebody. He's going to fight somebody. After two years, you've got to give the guy someone. Yeah. You know, like, I don't think he's got to fight for sure. Yeah. Like, I think he might even have a lawsuit against UFC if they don't give him a message. I still, at this point... I still dispute Belfort giving him title shots since he hasn't won a fight at middleweight yet. Yeah, exactly. I mean, he should get, he should have at least won a fight. Yeah. So, Silva definitely cumin in this. I mean, Dana's definitely going to be shopping for wrestlers to give this guy a challenge. Yeah. So he's going to give him a good card? Great card. Great card. Yeah. I love the best I've seen. With the exception of Fitch, this is probably the best fight I've seen. Yeah. What a good run to. UFC 116. The lesser fight. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. So then we go forward to the news, and we're going to cover this very, very quickly. Yes. Not a whole lot of news this week. Alan Belcher, he was out with the Brettonist surgery, and he says that it's a lot looking all that great. If his vision doesn't come back shortly, he may be forced to retire. All right, Sucks. It's just too bad. Detachment is a terrible thing. Yeah, it is. And he was just getting back in the title hat, too. Yeah. Into that title hat for the first time. Paula Daly finally received his 30-day suspension for punching Josh Kaushcek after the bell. That's a very profound sharing notice. I think they were like, "Well, you've already been fired from the UFC." Yeah. 30 days is enough. But 30 days, especially since he's got his fight on shark fights in mid-September, and that's 33 days from now. So it's not going to affect him in any way whatsoever. Yeah. Yeah. And the new ultimate fighter starts in mid-September. That's with cost check and GSP are the coaches. And Bellator, who is just having issues with the UFC, you guys were talking about last week out of some legal issues. Well, it turns out one of the guys in the ultimate fighter house was under contract to Bellator, and they're talking lawsuits. Great. Bellator is going to get their name on the map one way or another. All their names already on the map, I think. People are starting to take notice about Bellator. I think the last bit of news is that Paul Daly is also in the very, very final stages of signing with Strike Force. So he will most likely be fighting over there some point after his shark force debut. Shark force. All right. That's what we got. They're both on the same level pretty much right now, so. So then we go forward to the Strike Force, the dying breed that they are. I think we're down to 14 months, and we can't count down. That's this Friday. There's the Strike Force Challenger's 10 card. And Strike Force Challenger's are always amazing. You know, they're terrible. They're terrible. So then we have the women's 135 pound weight tournament. I am interested in that. I am interested in this. Karina Dam takes on Hitomi Akano, Misha Tate, and Maja Kuzhala. They're doing a random draw for the first round matches in this 1994 women tournament. So all of these women will fight. Well, you know, each of these women will fight one of the others in two, three minute rounds. And then they will fight each other in three minute rounds. Yeah. So that first round is two minute rounds and then shorter fights. Three minute rounds, but two rounds. Just two rounds and then one, three minute rounds. So even though these girls got to fight a couple of times that night, they're not fighting full-length fights. Yeah, they're fighting the total of what a title fight would be. A title fight would be, right. So that's not that bad. And hopefully we won't see any injuries, and hopefully this tournament won't get mucked up. Because I really, I would really like to see this tournament go through. Because I'm going to watch the challengers for this. And the winner will wind up being a... 135 pound competitor, and she'll take on Sarah Kaufman for the belt. There's also a women's fight on the undercard. And if anyone gets injured, then those girls... Conschnider and Lee's karma will be the reserve alternates for injuries. Now, at this being said, all three of these women agree that Maju Kuzala will be the easiest fight because she's the least experienced. The initial favorite going in... I think she's only been fighting for like... She came for all September 2009. She still had five fights. So she's not an experienced fighter. However, she's very, very good. And she's very, very passionate and driven. However, the initial favorite has to be Misha Tate. She has an extremely good takedown game, and a really good boxing game. However, Hitomi Akano has only been put away twice. One by Sarah Kaufman, and one by Christine Sarver. Those are both recent, too. So, I mean, she's not really on a winning streak. Then we go forward to Ryan Coater, Randy Coater's son, making his lightweight debut against Lucas Stark. This could be interesting. We'll be watching that to see how Ryan, Randy's son does in his debut. And then the main event, for reasons known only to strike force, is a catch-weight bout. At 182 pounds between Joe Riggs and Lewis Taylor, I know literally nothing about either one of these fighters, so that's what all this is doing. I will make a prediction, though. That will be the best 182 pound catch-weight bout. I'm going to see you over here. 182 pounds. How do they know ahead of time that someone's not going to make the cut to 180? Why not make it at 185? Why not find a middleweight? Wow. There has to be-- we should be hearted on this before, but there-- It's almost like strike force makes their main event fight as a joke, just to see who's going to catch it. More casual interest, more anyone interest in a one-night women's tournament than that fight. Seriously. If you can cut to 182, why don't you stop cutting at 185, and have the other dude eat at least some pasta. Give him a plate before you flip it out. Maybe they're going to 100 and 80 pound off. Yeah. All right. So we go forward to the WC with Craig. Yeah. We're going to-- now, onto something that I'm actually excited to talk about. Now, here's the thing with WC50, though. That's a week from the day we're recording the show. So that's, I believe, it's August, Wednesday, August 18th. Yep. So it'll be on right after our show, but we won't be able to see the fights, so we'll come on after our show. Yeah. So here goes. I'm going to talk about five fights. We're going to-- we got Bart Palazewski versus Palazewski, sorry, versus Zach Muckelright. Palazewski is coming off his victory over Corinne D'Arbedian. He's a pretty good, exciting fighter. He's got KO power. He's got a good ground game. And Zach Muckelright's got some good kickboxing skills. I'm going to call Palazewski. This is in the lightweight division, by the way. He's coming off a win, and he looked good against Corinne, so-- We pulled out that submission out of nowhere. Was it the last one? Yeah. I think that was against Arbedian. It was really exciting. It was a good one. Yeah. So I'm going to call him. And then we got Bantamweight. We got the always exciting Scott Jorgensen versus Brad Pickett. This one, Jorgensen's on a pretty good streak. Jorgensen's tough. He's got good knock up power. He's into my mind. He's in the title hunt for Ben White. He's probably one of the best conditioned guys in the WEC. He's definitely looking at Cruz's title. I think if he wins this, which I do think he will do, because he's got so much power, he's got to be moving up. So keep an eye for this fight. Yeah, he's definitely my call for this one. Then we move on to Featherweight. We've got the infamous Cub Swanson infamous for getting completely destroyed by Jose Aldo. Fastest knock out on record. Six seconds. Well, via knee to the head. Yeah, it was fantastic. He uses return after presumably head knee surgery. Yeah. And he's facing Chad Mendez, who is an undefeated wrestler. Cub Swanson is a submission guy. So really, I mean, I don't like Swanson's chances in this. I think he's going to get thrown around. I don't think he's big enough for powerful enough to deal with Mendez. So I'm going to call Mendez on this one to continue on the beat of the street. I don't think Swanson's not so great a submission that he can handle a wrestler who can dictate the pace and the location of the fight. Speaking of wrestlers. Yeah, speaking of wrestlers, the guy who always comes through for me. Even if I manage to not call any fights correctly, Shane Roller always comes through for me. I'm calling him. He's facing Anthony Pettis. Shane Roller is an awesome wrestler. He's just coming off a win over Anthony and Jaquani. And Pettis, he's no slouch. He's got great stand-up. He's got a good ground game. His last win was against Carolexis. But he's also lost to Palashuski. I'm definitely calling Roller for this. I think Roller is on the way to a title shot very, very soon. He's already lost to Ben Henderson once. But I think he's definitely on the cusp. The joy of Shane Roller to me is he's one of those rare wrestlers who actually can finish. Because so many of these wrestlers, Chase Sonning, John Fitch, Jake Shields, they can rustle you to any position they want, but then they don't know what to do with you. He's holding that position and they wait for a stand-up. You look at a guy like Bones and Roller who, if you can take the guy down and you can effectively finish him, you're going to be a champion sometimes. The amazing ones, Matt Hughes, John Bones Jones, Brock Lesnar. These guys get you to the ground, but then they finish you. If Roller gets you down but he's got classic wrestling, he chokes you out when he gets you. If Roller were a little bit bigger, he would definitely be a force in the UFC. So anyway, going on to the main event, which is going to be absolutely fantastic. Bandsome White title fight, Dominic Cruz is taking on Joseph Benavidez. Now, Benavidez and Cruz are both so awesome. Cruz has actually beaten Benavidez previously. But Benavidez is on a hell of a streak. He just beat up Torres. He looked amazing. Both these guys have speed, they have knockout ability. They're just amazing to watch. Both of them are great on the ground, but they're great on good submissions. I mean, it's art-watching these two guys. I like Cruz for this one. I think that he looked so great against Bulls and I think... I seem to call against Benavidez because of his size and that hurt me last time, but I really think Cruz is going to come through on this one. Well, the thing with Cruz is he's so lightning fast and that's his advantage. His kicks in his punches are so incredibly fast. He tags you at will. With power. With power. But to me, Benavidez actually has a quite a good takedown game too. So I'm actually favoring Benavidez to this. I think he manages to take Cruz down and slow the pace of the fight down. If he can soften Cruz up on the ground, take some of that speed away, take some of the window sales. Benavidez has been such a terror and he's looking so good lately. He looks so good in that last one. Yeah, he did. I have to figure Benavidez is the man for this. That's going to be tough on the call. I'm thinking maybe Cruz will retain, but no matter what. This is in a month with Silva versus Sunin, which is an amazing fight. This could be the fight of the month. For sure. Oh, well, the thing is WBC always produces the fight of the month. Also, I mean, Enjiquani is also on this card too. So, I mean, he's always interesting to watch. Yeah, sir, there's yours on there too. Vasquez is on there. So, there's definitely some good guys to watch. And this could be for free on versus... Yeah, this is worth it to watch. Please watch this. If you are listening to this and have not watched the WBC card yet, I don't know what's wrong with you. Wednesday, August 18th. Yes. So, I think that's just what all the time we have for today. So, thank you for tuning in. And check us out at www.thehammermma.com. All one word. See you guys. Have a good week. [BLANK_AUDIO]
