[music] Hello and welcome to The Hammer! I'm your host Dave, joined as always by my good friends. Greg, how's it going guys? Steve, so we've got a more interesting show for you this week, hopefully than the last couple of evening because we've got some news to talk about, we've also got a few shows. July has been the biggest drought of MMA cards since we started the show probably in years, August is not the same. There's seven or eight cards to talk about just in August, so... August will be a good month. Two UFC cards in a week, pretty much. So let's get started. So we're going to get cracking right at it. First of all, we've got strike force challengers this weekend. This past weekend. This past weekend. So we had Carros Fedor picking up Enam's decision over Osmondigania. This one was boring. Then we have Mike Kyle picking up a rear naked choke victory in round two over Bongo Humphrey. Unfortunately, his cool name did not give him the victory we helped. Didn't you predict that he would have to win because of his name? I thought that would be a good idea, but unfortunately he did not want to make call. These are guys you've never even liked. I don't know, I think both of these guys. The strike force challengers cards. They use a lot of the very new talent or proven talent, and also use a lot of local talent when we fight somewhere. There's the possibility to find a hidden gem on these cards. There'll be future champions on these cards, eventually. Some of these guys could become a champion. However, with that being said, when you're finding local talent, there's mixed martial artists in Hamilton, the city we live in, training at Jawsons Gym and whatnot. But if they had the level of talent to compete in the UFC, there's venues for them to go in to get that development. Fighting on a local card doesn't necessarily indicate that you're a strong talent. I feel like it's usually a good opposite indicator. No, but fighting on a strike force card like this definitely helps. Yeah, for sure. I mean, our fighter, I take it. It certainly helped a little. Hey, Mahi. So then we go forward to Corey Devala versus Bobby Volker. Volker managed to pick up a split decision victory. Twenty-eight, twenty-nine, twenty-nine, twenty-eight, twenty-nine, twenty-eight. This one was very, very unusual because despite it being a very close fight with a split decision victory, it was still born. Yeah, but the crowd vehemently disagreed with this, with this, like, so much. Huge chunks of the crowd actually laughed. So, yeah, like, congratulations there, guys, for this achievement. Then we go forward to the Women's Bantamweight Championship. Despite this being an actual championship belt, this was not the main event. Insane. For reasons known only to Scott Coker. Traditionally, champions are the main event, and if there's more than one championship, you organize it by weight class. This is madness. For a championship fight to not be last, and not be followed by a championship fight is just preposterous. And we're not talking about a pay-per-view, we're talking about a straight-first challenger's card. I know. Like, this women's title fight, at least that draws in, I don't want to say a freak show interest, but something different interests, you know? Like, it's also good quality fighting. I mean, these girls can go. And the thing that's Kaufman is actually well-known for being, she's becoming well-known for being a dominant fighter. She's on 12-0 win streak going into this, you know? And then, like, they're going to main event, with Chandel Rosario, who have only heard of us for knocking fights with Bobby Lashley, and Oloh Homahi, who I've seen fight twice now, three times now. I can't see him. Yeah, you've seen part of his fights, because you've been asleep for the other half. You know, like, so there's no question in my mind that Sarah Kaufman should have been the main event. And from our rock stand by the fair, he should have been the main event. The mother of Varyam was hilarious. They showed this cheesy intro beforehand, and she talked about how she's an English teacher in Japan, and had, like, little Japanese flags and stuff, and was acting all kind of like an animated girl, like, this, the right thing. So was Japanese cartoons? Yeah, but she was not tough enough to beat Sarah Kaufman. Yeah, she mentioned that she had super secret moves, that she saw the fight, like, Ryu or Ken from Street Fighter. And she came up for a flying start here. She came up with a flying knee. Kaufman took it. They grappled on the cage for the first two rounds. It was a very, very close back-and-forth fight between two grinders. Motifery is a ground fighter, because Kaufman's more a striker. So, Montifery tried to get close and control the distance. In the third round, Montifery looked to be pulling ahead. She was pushing Kaufman against the cage and hitting her with some good shots, starting to wear her down. Kaufman managed to get a really, really nice takedown. Montifery tried for what looked to be an arm triangle. Kaufman, in honor of Matt Hughes in some of the other great slams for MP Jackson. Pitt walked Motifery up from the front of the back. From her back, stood up, and then slain Motifery on her head, knocking her unconscious. I saw this, and it jumped out of my chair and yelled "Gold". It was great. That was so fantastic. At one point in the third round, it looked like Motifery had the upper hand, because she had Kaufman down. Kaufman hit her with an awesome up kick, too. But, I mean, this third round was really exciting. I enjoyed it. And, yeah, so she couldn't even get up. Motifery was just out. And so, Motifery, it's knocked up by slain. Four minutes and 45 seconds in round three. Kaufman looked amazing. I really like that. You know, more over an hello, and Pat Milletich were on commentary. He does a pro wrestling show, called it a power bomb. And Pat Milletich, a former UFC champion, just gave him craft for it for using WWE terms. Well, how about the Jim Ross reference? Yeah, I know. Like, at one point, he's like, "That's bowling shoe ugly, and you guys will know that reference." Actually, nobody will know that reference. There are very few people who will know that, right? And we were talking about this earlier off the air, but I really don't have a problem with pro wrestling terms working their way into MMA. But don't correct Pat Milletich. No, that's ridiculous. I mean, Pat Milletich is a legend and a trainer. Yeah. More when all those nothing. Like, literally nothing. And then, like... Not a very good commentator, one thing. And then, aside from that, like, I don't have a specific problem with the pro wrestling terms when they apply. But when they don't apply, don't use them. Yeah, when they cause an awkward silence, and Milletich is sort of like, "What are you talking about?" Yeah, like, honestly, the whole way he went into a digression about how his comments were, like, good old JR. The thing about good old JR is, good old JR has never commentated on an MMA match ever. And then, not only that, for your Strike Force CBS show MMA, Strike Force and CBS have never carried pro wrestling with good old JR ever. UFC has never been involved with good old JR. Well, they have actually been involved with good old JR because the only time JR has been on TV is with the youth. He's on TV with your competition. Let's reference him. Great idea, guys. Like, I don't understand what the point of this comment was. And then, when, like, when Koffman came up with a slam, and Milletich was like, that was a very impressive slam as if it was an Olympic wrestling slam, which it was. Moral when all that comes in says, "No, actually, it was a powerbomb." And Milletich is like, "What? I'm a pro man." Dude, that's my thing. That's my thing. He's an Olympic wrestler. He knows what the slam is like. Yeah, I don't have a problem with him calling it a powerbomb. I have a problem with him correcting Milletich. Yeah, I mean, so think about it. The Superman punch isn't a classic move. They're calling it after, you know, after something from, in this case, a superwoman punch. A superwoman punch. You actually call it a superwoman punch. Like, moral when all of those terrible. I feel guilty because he's, you know, he's a falcony. He does, you know, make martial arts shows, much like we do. But I have no idea how this guy's getting paid at it more than we are, because, like, he's completely confident. He is in our opinion. No, not in my opinion. This isn't, like, the general fuck. Like, I don't want to argue this point. This is a fact. He's proven it's a confidence at this point. So, I mean, please take this guy off air. Give one of the three of us is a contract because he's no business deservant. So, yeah, so, so after this fight, Sarah Coppin got on the mic and she said that she doesn't understand why as a champion, she should have to fight on these strike force challengers cards, right? Right. So, have, I think, have 200,000 viewers. Yeah, particularly when Christine Sirebork-Santos, the other women's champion is fighting on the actual... Yeah, we'll go to... But Chris Sirebork-Santos is much more famous than Sarah Coppin, but Sarah Coppin's place is right now headlining challengers. Maybe next time on a main card. Her main event title fight on us, on the Showtime card, I think. I mean, I have, she's definitely, like, she is the low dog on the champions totem pole as far as I'm concerned, but that still means she should be headlining a challengers at least. She's definitely had low hamehe. Yeah. She was not a champion. Oh, yeah. It's been an event of low hamehe and... Shandal Rosario. Oh, Rosario, I've seen this guy fight a couple of times. Mahi, most notably, about the last couple of strike force challengers shows ago. Just one of the most boring heavyweight fights I've ever seen, and he didn't really appear to be much better this time. Well, the thing with low hamehe is, because he's such a big guy, and he has such an unusual build... He cuts... I mean, I don't know if he cuts down from, but at one point he was, like, 320. Like, he's a much bigger guy. Yeah, so he's a very, very big guy, and with that, like, size, he's not particularly fast. Yeah, he's kind of a lumbering fighter. Yeah. But despite that, he also managed to combine, like, a weakness in gas, poor technique, and a weak chin. And he's not particularly strong, so he doesn't get a lot of knockouts. So, I mean, like, he's managed to really corner the market on everything you don't want to have in a heavyweight. He high. Yeah, he makes Ben Rothwell look exciting. Yeah. He had to produce a record before he came to strike force, but now that he's fighting better competition. I mean, he just always looks gassed. He makes me tired just watching them. Yeah. Well, I mean, like, you can build, like, if you're fighting nothing but local guys, you can build up a good record. If you do it for 100 pounds heavier than them. Yeah. But I mean, like, when you start fighting actual professional fighters, like, Shane Del Rosario, you get TKO'd in round one at three minutes and 48 seconds, which is exactly what happened. And Rosario, he's calling out, he's calling out, uh, Andre Orlowski. Okay. Which I think is the right fighter. No problem. There he is. Right fight. That's what Orlowski should be doing now. Yeah. For sure. Like that. I know. So, yeah, I still think, though, coffin should have been the main event. A coffin definitely should have been the main event. I mean, it's an insult to have a champion not be the main event against Del Rosario and Mahi. Ratings went down after the women's fight. So, hopefully, Strike Force learns for next time. Yeah. Like, literally, you learn your last time. And as far as... That would definitely break with tradition and learning something. And as far as Del Rosario versus Orlowski, I don't think he's going to get that fight because I think that Strike Force still thinks that Orlowski is more viable than that. I imagine that they'll put our, they'll hold Orlowski for Lashley or Batista or something like that. Uh, they'll give to Orlowski. I don't know. I don't know. Well, it also has to do with their talent pool, not being as deep as USC as well. The way you get a better talent pool is to have up-and-coming guys beating you guys. Yeah. I agree. But, I mean, that makes perfect sense, which is why I don't think Strike Force is going to do it. I mean, like, I'm somewhere in the 14-month range for their life. I don't even remember anymore. But, like, this kind of promotion is sinking and taking on water. And I guarantee you they don't have the intelligence to make Shane Del Rosario. They're not going to give him a good fight, where he might look good against a main guy. They're going to bury him on Strike Force Challengers. They're going to bury everyone marketable on Strike Force Challengers. They're going to keep pushing all the UFC husbands, much like they would if they were a professional wrestling organization. Because, for some reason, despite the fact that CBS and Showtime carry the boxing shows, and despite the fact that UFC has taken a small from boxing and avoided professional wrestling, CBS has actually decided to reject the boxing model for its mixed martial arts promotion, is now embracing the pro wrestling model, which to me makes no sense. Well, they think that it's going to draw fans because it's based around entertainment. No, I don't know. I still think the secret is what UFC is doing. UFC is taking the best from everything. He's taking serious sports builds from wrestling. He's taking the promo cutting and the characters and also the marketing from wrestling. UFC is taking the best of all the rules. You can't reject any of these ideas. That's true, because they've all been successful at one point or another. So you take the best of everything and you put it into something that will be successful, and that's exactly what the UFC does. But you take the best of everything and you learn from it, you're adopting it, you make it on your own. You don't entirely look at a model and then be like, "Well, this is what these guys are doing. Let's exactly copy it, and this formula is going to work for us." Particularly when it's a model that's not working for the guys that you're copying. Professional wrestling at this point is at a low point where it's making less money and it's getting terrible advertising revenues. This is not the model to copy. Meanwhile, Shay Floyd Mayweather is making the most money of any box or ever. Why are you not copying this guy's model? Definitely. When you have the guy on contract, he's one of your guys. He's fought on your network. Anyway, so we've got some news coming up. Chill Sun is really pushing this title fight hard. He's doing an awesome job. He's doing an Anderson Silva on August 8th, I believe, and he's just one man showing this. Oh, this is great. It's kind of almost YouTube videos, viral stuff. He'll talk to anyone who will listen. Well, I mean, he's used to it, right? Because he's a campaign guy. He wants to be running for parliament. He's used to it. I mean, campaigning is what he's used to. So this is his niche right here. My favorite, he has so many great quotes this past week. He's definitely been on the stop. But one of my favorites this week was he was like, "Yeah, Anderson Silva picks his fights and takes easy fights, fighting math teachers from Ohio and one like a guy from Canada." Patrick Kote. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because there's going to be a tremendous difference when he gets in with an All-American from Portland, Oregon. You know what this guy? I can't wait to watch this countdown special. The guy just talks like a champion. Yeah, he should come in to God bless the USA. Great. Well, with that being said, Anderson Silva's response to that was he laughed. And then when he said, " Anderson, what do you think about it?" He says, "I think it's funny." Yeah. Anderson Silva is not at all worried about this. He thinks he's going to execute this video. Well, he's no selling it, right? Because he wants to... He's trying to mix on and look like a fool. Yeah. And you know what? He really shouldn't be all that worried. Right. He should be more worried than he would be with Damian Maya. I think Sonans got more tools than Maya had when it comes to combating Anderson Silva. Yeah, I think his tools match up very well with what you would want to use against Anderson Silva. With that being said, you can talk as much as you want, but at the end of the day, you've got to fight Anderson Silva, dude. Yeah, at the end of the day, I mean, if you can beat Marquart, but he just left a road map on your face, then you're going to have a lot of trouble. No, we're still just going to be thoughtful in your face. Yeah, exactly. Another guy who's talking about a really good game. James Tony is everywhere hyping up his fight with Coach Eric. Another guy who's used to hyping for sure. I am loving every second of it. Apparently, he tapped out King Mo in a training session. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You guys mentioned that a couple weeks ago. Yeah, it's true. I worked with King Mo. He was happy to come down and spar with me. He showed me some skills, and I submitted him with a rear naked joke. But you know that you just see all the hugging is for girls. Yeah. So he's talking about how he's submitting a lightweight champion, but also, like... But he only does that when he's swamming. That's how good he is. And the other thing is he's carrying around... James Tony's carrying around a Rendico Churdal. A voodoo doll. A voodoo doll? Well, it's one of his action figures, I believe. And the Rendico Churdal is in like a Barbie dress, and he's carrying a purse. That's great. That's great. Everyone who wants to see it. It's so great. This camped down special, another one I can't wait for. Oh, definitely. When we were just talking about the Pro Wrestling thing, this is what I want them to take from Pro Wrestling. Yeah, exactly. I love the trash talking, and the confidence, and all that stuff. They're building characters that I care about. Don't get too vile with it. You don't have to be feeling bad with it. When it comes to hype, fine, borrow from Pro Wrestling. When it comes to getting down to business, borrow from boxing. Exactly. And actually, Sylvester Stallone, he was on David Letterman. I got all these quotes this week. There's actually no echo on our list. He's on David Letterman, and he's talking about this movie, The Expendables. It's coming up that has, who's in this movie? Dolph Lundren, Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jett Lee, Randy Couture. Like Steve Austin. Every single tough guy in the last decade. Pretty much younger. Jason Statham. And Sylvester Stallone, he put over Coachear. He goes, "If you put all these tough guys from the movie in a room together to see who would walk out, and then you come back in the room ten minutes later, and you see Randy Couture sitting on top of all of us having a chocolate fudge sundae." And you're like, "It's true." It really is. I mean, Couture is pretty much the only professional fighter in the month. Yeah. I hope, I mean, Randy Couture's already a star, and everybody knows him. I hope that The Expendables thing makes him even more so, because he really has a great guy in his class. He's classy, yeah. We were talking last week about Rampage as being kind of cryptic about his, about who he's going to fight in November. He said that his fight was, he can't say who it is, but it's just against a guy who he can't spell his last name. We said every name in the division. Yeah, you can pretty much spell all of them, so it's probably Machita. But it turns out that it is Leo de Machita. Yeah. That would be in November. Worst kept secret ever. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. He didn't want to fight at first, because he said that he thought it was going to be boring. I don't think so at all. Yeah, you've got to take the fight. You've got to take the fight, and it's against the person who makes the most sense. It's the best contender you've got at that level. And if he wants to get back in a title picture, he's got to be Machita. Yeah. That's, I mean, this is the only fight that makes sense from either one of these guys. Mm-hmm. As far as him being like a boring fight, I definitely don't think it's going to be a boring fight. I think that that's a bit of a cobalt and rampages part. I, as I've said before, as I keep saying, I think that the reason that Rampage doesn't want this fight is because this is a bad style match up for him. I think he's going to be... Yeah, he's a striker and he's... Terrible strong. He's fighting, he's facing a guy who's one of the most elusive guys you're going to get. With a great takedown game... He was driven after that level. He was first locked. Very, very driven and he's a great counter puncher. Rampage is a boy fighter. He likes to get up close, plan his feet and punch. Yeah. You're not going to corner Machita with that. You're not going to drop bombs on him and knock him out. Machita's a guy you've got to pick apart. You've got to either counter punch him or you've got to take his legs out with low kicks until you slow him down. The only thing that might save Rampage is his chin. Yeah. Rampage has got a good chin, but honestly Rashad rocked him. And she's way better striker than Rashad. Yeah, but Rampage hadn't fought in forever. I really honestly think he was out of shape. I don't think that was an excuse. I think it's true. I agree. I agree. But my thing is, if you're having issues with Rashad, to me, Rampage will Machita be Rashad. I'm still calling Machita to win this match. I just don't think it'll be a cream just because... Yeah, I definitely don't think it's going to be a walk in the park. And I mean, like, Rampage has got such heavy hands that he might pull a shoulder and he might surprise Machita with a good right hook and knock the guy out. Machita's definitely doesn't have a rock solo chin, but with that being said, you know, I would be worried about taking this fight if I was a reviser on a page. And I don't fault the guy for it. That's not a good story for me. If you're serious about being back in the title hunt, this is the guy you've got to fight. Absolutely. And literally we have here. On August 13th, you're doing a strike force of doing a women's tournament. We're just talking about the women's division. It's going to be a four women tournament. They're going to randomly draw the names for the fight. They don't know their opponent. And instead of five minute rounds, it's going to be three, three minute rounds because they have to fight a couple of times on night. I don't have a problem with that if they have to fight twice or shortening the matches. I agree with that. So they pick the four ladies that are going to be here. The four of the four of the girls are there. And then they're going to draw names to see who fights who. To see who fights who. Okay, so it's not like they're just picking names out for the women's division. They say, oh, this girl. There's going to be 10 girls there and they pick four. The girls are going to be Hitomi Akano, Maju Kajala, Karina Dam, and Misha Tate. Cool. Yeah, I'm looking forward to that. I'm looking forward to Misha Tate. Jason Brill's versus Michael Rousa. Hopefully not. It was a strike force when we'll find out. And the last bit of news here. Shark fights. I can't, I don't like that name. Well, it's because of Shark Week. I think Shark Week is coming up. I don't know. The second week of September. The coast came on on CDs. I saw an advertisement for Shark Week. I think it's coming up or it's now or whatever. So Shark fights on September 11th. It's going to be Jason Alexander versus Soakichu. Oh, man. Well, I like Soakichu. I don't know. He's not facing Kimbo and circling the ring. Maybe that's why they're calling it Shark fights. I just circling the ring. Yeah, I keep moving, so I'm going to die. If this isn't, you know, for a non UFC non strike force card, Jason Alexander and Soakichu as well as Key Jardine versus Trevor Prangley and then Paul Daly fighting someone to be named. That's not a bad card. No, not at all. And Shark named. Yeah. I like Shark. We'll see what happens. I watch. I mean, like what I'm hoping is that when they say Paul Daly is saying someone to be named, they're actually going to bring in a real shark and have Paul Daly face the shark. This is imagine needs to happen. Paul Daly versus Jaws. Okay. So anyway, anyway, let's move on. Yeah. So we go forward to the UFC on versus coming up this Sunday. Yep, this Sunday. This is the second UFC card on versus. So it's titled UFC on versus two. Yep. So this will be on free TV for those of us in Canada. I believe it's free in the States. Yeah. It's a free TV card, I think, but a good looking one. So we have the middleweights to start the night in the prelims. We have Rob Kimmons versus Steve Steinbeis. Then we go forward to lightweight Darren Elkins taking on Charles Olivier. Middleweight Brian Stan versus Mike Messino. Light heavyweights James Irvin versus Igor Pockerschock. It's a good thing that James Irvin is finding out light heavyweight. Do you remember the last UFC on versus Jep? He showed up in middleweight and was gassed. He looked terrible because he cut so much weight. Yeah, he looked really sick. He looked terrible. So he's moved up to fate in a better weight division for him. But this is actually kind of a loser league's hometown match. These both of these guys are both on two fight losing streak. Oh, yeah. If our overall loses this fight, cut them. I mean, I would have maybe cut them after that last performance. So that'll be... Matcheschenko just beat Igor, right? Mm-hmm. So that'll be an interesting one. Then we go forward to welterweights. The welterweight standout, Demarcus Johnson, takes on Matt Riddle. Heavy standout. Demarcus is on his way. He really is. He just needs to string some wins together. His last fight was amazing. I love the Marcus's fight. But I don't know. Riddle's... He's a tough one. He's four and nine. Riddle's a tough guy. He's a good wrestler. Not gonna be easy. Four and one to UFC. Demarcus has an incredible gas tank. And he's got some really, really good come from behind victories. He's very, very mentally disciplined. He's not a guy who's easy to grind. Yeah, I mean, you can grind the guy for two rounds. Yeah. And he can still pull up numerical and third round. Well, with Johnson's last few fights, his last couple of wins, it's look that he's been being beaten for the whole fight. And he just pulls out that miracle at the end. I mean, he's a guy who doesn't give up. Yeah, he's got an endless gas tank. Yeah. So I'm a fan. I'd like to see him grab another win. Yeah. Get on the main card. I want to see him there already. So what's your call for his fight? I actually think that... I think... I don't know if he can beat him. But I want... You know, I want to see Demarcus Johnson win. I'm just gonna call him him because I want to see him. I think it's Demarcus. You know, Riddle's a good grinder and I respect the guy. But I think Demarcus has got more momentum going into this. The thing is, Demarcus, he seems like he struggles through every fight and pulls out the win. And I just... I don't know if he's... If he's gonna string together a whole bunch of wins, but I want to see him succeed. Not only do I think this is gonna... Demarcus is gonna win, but I think this is gonna be a bonus too. I think he's gonna wind up being fighter than I hope so. And then we go forward to Paul Kelly versus Jacob Volkmann. Christmas. So Christmas is back. What do you guys think of this one? I'm never gonna bet Christmas. Yeah. I just think he's just not that good. Well, Christmas, he's got an okay wrestling game, but Paul Kelly is good in getting out of submission. He could beat Matt Veach. Yeah, he did. He could beat Matt Veach. I mean, you know, it's not a good style match up for Volkmann. I think Paul Kelly has a lot of similar tools as he does, and he's got heavier hands. Yeah. I think we're all in agreement. I think we're all in agreement. I think we're all in agreement as well. Yeah. The Grinch is coming. Yeah. And then we go forward to the main card. We have Tyson Griffin versus Takanori Gomi. Now Griffin is a lightweight contender who's been looking really, really strong lately. Takanori Gomi is a former lightweight contender who's had a rough start. That last performance didn't do him a lot of favor. But he was fighting Ken Flow. No. I mean, not many people look good against Ken Flow. Here's my thing with Griffin. Is Griffin's always good for a fight of the night? Yeah. You know what? He beat Clay Guida, which is, you know, just a good thing to do, but he's not alone in that. You know, lots of people beat Clay Guida. I just don't. I just never see him as the guy that he's the perfect gatekeeper. He's the guy. I mean, if you beat him, you've proven something, but he just never seems to string together at the big wins. Well, if he picks up what's this win here against Gomi, he's definitely moving into that, like, fast, fast lane. Yeah. This is the kind of win because of Gomi's reputation. This is the kind of win that will really help him. But his whole career to me has been win some, win some amazing fight of the nights. And then you face that name and you just don't quite do it. Yeah. So you think that he's not going to have it in him to fall for the win? I think that if Gomi's, if Gomi's last fight was a fluke, he's going to beat Griffin. I'm going to actually call, I'm going to call Griffin. I think Gomi is, just doesn't adapt well to UFC. I think he falls into that category of the Japanese fighters who just don't translate well. Which, that's not going to work. And I think that's going to happen. I'm going to call Griffin. Well, with that being said, Gomi definitely took Kenaflow into the deep water. He didn't look that bad against the guy. So, I mean, you know-- I thought he looked at fast. At no point did Gomi look like he was going to win that fight. Yeah, but I mean, still took Griffin. He still took three rounds for Kenny Florian to put him away. So, I mean, Griffin's a good striker, but he definitely had, he looked not that great in his last match. He's probably like a couple of months ago. Yeah. So, I mean, I'm calling Gomi to pick this one up. I think that Griffin is a bit of a choke artist. And Gomi's a big name. He's definitely an experienced guy. I think he's got it in him to win this fight. I think to be entertaining is always, but I think Gomi's really got something to prove here. And yeah, I think I'm going to go Gomi. Gomi loses this one. I don't know what you do with him, though. Yeah. I think if he loses too straight, he's gone. Yeah. So, then we go forward to John Howard versus Jake Allenberger in the welterweight division. Howard's really making a run in the welterweight. He's three or four in a row, I believe. And he's doing really well. Jake Allenberger has not looked that bad himself. He's on a bit of-- I think he's on two, is he? I think he's, I believe, he's one and one in his last two. He had that really close decision with Carlos Condit. Oh, that's right. And he did my pile after that. Condit beat him. I'm a big Condit fan. I don't know. I think he's a tough guy to beat. But, I mean, if you're not beating Condit, you're-- Yeah. You know, Howard's really on fire. This is a tough one to call that. I think I'm going to go with Howard. I think it's really tough to bet against Howard at this moment. He's really got momentum on his side. Yeah. All right. Well, I'm going to make it unanimous. I also think it's Howard. I'm going to go forward to the Filipino wrecking machine, Mark Munoz, versus Yushin Okami. Okami has fought literally everyone in middleweight, including a victory over Anderson Silva. Talk to you guys in one of the two. And then Mark Munoz, he's looked very, very dominant in his last couple of performances, a couple of outstanding knockouts and T2 units. His only loss in his last four or five was-- Not Hammel. Once he gets to Hammel. Mm-hmm. So, I mean, this one, I think Yushin Okami's got a great judo game, but Mark Munoz has shown he can handle a grappler. He's a very, very good wrestler himself. Yeah, he's a brick. I think Mark Munoz gets the top position and pounds this one out. Yeah, I'm calling Mark Munoz by TKO. Now, correct me if I'm wrong on this. Okami, I mean, he's a decent wrestler, but, I mean, his problems have been against guys like Shields and Sonnad, guys who are really good wrestlers. He's lost his shields. He's lost his son and lost a Franklin. I mean, you know, and, you know what? And who knows? He's a good wrestler. He's a very good wrestler with a great ground and heavy hands. And heavy hands. I think Yushin Okami's a pretty good fighter, but he seems to have a weakness against the wrestlers, and I just don't think he's going to win. His judo game works well against strikers, but doesn't translate against guys who've got just as good grappling skills. Munoz has got such heavy hands that people think of him as a striker, but he's a base wrestler. And he takes it down and he malls you. He's also very big too. I mean, he used to fight in light heavyweight. When he fought Hamill, that was light heavyweight. I'm calling Munoz. Yeah, so am I. So, Munoz unanimously for us. And then we go forward to the main event of the evening. Jonathan Bones-Jones makes his return to take on the veteran Vladimir Machishanko. For those of you who aren't hardcore fans, Matt Yushanko at 39 has been around for a long, long time, including a fight at UFC 33 against two- He took some years off there though. He took some years off there. He took some years off there. He took some years. That can in some ways extend your career. He was fighting an IFL during those period of time. And a flexion. You know, he definitely won the IFL heavyweight championship. He was the first guy to win it. He never lost it. He stripped the belt when he left the promotion. So, I mean, very, very serious guy. What are you guys thinking for this? I think you'd be crazy to ever get against Jones at this moment. I'm not calling against Bones. Bones is the man. He's awesome. I was watching some interviews with him before we came on. And he's such a classy guy. He's amazing. He's my favorite fighter in the UFC. Well, Bones is definitely a great fighter. And he's very, very fun to watch. But he has a very unorthodox fighting style and his spin cakes and spin elbows. It hasn't let him down yet. Matt, you can't go. He's a base wrestler too. So, he's got just as good of a wrestling game as Jones has got. And he's a very, very solid vet. He's at 28 fights, 24 wins, four losses. I think he's enough of a workman that he's not going to get flustered by Bones's wild wacky style. I think he can take out some takedowns and grind this out. And he's got a really, really solid chin. I don't think Bones can put him away on his feet. I think I'm going to need to. I know Jones has a flashy style, but it doesn't mean other than that one DQ loss. He's still a smart fighter. He can still, if he needs to, he can take you down. And he will help with you. Don't forget, he's a wrestler. He can't take you down. He's a wrestler. I'll be in to finish you. But the thing is, can he take down a guy with a good, as good of a wrestling game as a janitor as God? Well, Matt Hamill had a pretty good wrestling game. Matt Hamill has a very, very good wrestling game. Matt Hamill, when, before Matt Hamill came in, when he was on the ultimate fire, they were touting him as one of the best wrestling prospects that the UFC had seen. And so Matt Hamill is, and was, and still is, an awesome wrestler. And Bones made him look like a kid. Hamill's one of the best wrestlers in his division. Keep in mind that Hamill picked up the win. Yo, come on. Come on. Please. DQ loss. I'm not going to take anything. I'm not going to take anything away from Matt Shanko, but Bones is going to win this. I love Bones, but keep in mind that he was, he got frustrated against Hamill and ended up getting himself DQ because he couldn't put the guy away. Because there's an idiot refereeing the match. You can blame the referee, but Bones is the one dropping the 12-6 elbows. You know, like, no one told him to do that without himself. Like, as much as I love Bones, Matt Shanko's a real, real serious guy. So you calling Matt Shanko? You know what? I think just for the contrary, I think I am going to call Matt Shanko. I think Matt Shanko's got the tools. He's a good vet. You're wrong, but okay. You'll see what happens. Matt Shanko is definitely not a guy to take lightly. We will. We will see. I mean, win over Elliot Marshall. That's impressive. Yeah. Bones is definitely taking this. And you know what? Bones has such a future in that division. I mean, I'm not saying that the flukes can't happen, but Matt Shanko, he'd be the worst guy for Bones to lose you right now. Mm-hmm. Well, we'll see what happens. And I think that's what all the time we have this week. So thank you for tuning in to us at The Hammer. You can find us on iTunes and also at our webpage, TheHammer.com. That is Hamill with two A's. The H-A-M-M-A-R. Have a good week, guys. [BLANK_AUDIO]
