The HAMMAR predictions for Shogun vs Machida 2.
Tito reunites with Jenna, Kongo suffers an injury and Tennesse mails some letters. Fedor is back in Strikeforce, but will it last?
The upcoming UFC event in Montreal, featuring a slew of Canadian fighters and of course the Dragon vs Shogun 2. Who's the real undisputed champ of the Light Heavyweight Division?
[music] Hello and welcome to The Hammer. I'm your host Steve. I'm joined as always by Greg. How's it going guys? And of course our good friend Steve is not here due to prior community missed to India. So he's committed to India for two weeks. For two weeks. So welcome aboard for early May show. We've got an interesting one for you. We've got some news that we're coming from last week and going forward we have the card for the upcoming Chogan Ruhr and Leo Rameshita rematch in Montreal and that's going to be a pretty big show. So we're looking forward to that one. As a reminder you're listening to us live on 93.3 CFMU and you can also find us on iTunes as well as our Facebook. So give us a look at The Hammer. Love to see you guys coming out and Disney. So we're going to start with the news. So we are going to do our weekly teal or teas update because we have some news on teeto. Last week he had issues with a little bit of an arrest for domestic violence against his partner Jenna Jamison. Jenna Jamison announced that she was going to get back together with teeto for the twins. She refuted teetos claims she was on drugs and she went and passed a drug test to prove it. Teeto through his lawyer said that he over and reacted when he found two oxycottons in her pants. So the seven day restraining order is up and he has moved back in. So well done teeto. I don't know what you're doing going through your wife's pants but you're back in the house. All is well in your teas Jamison house. Yeah. Everything is back to you. So we'll see how Dana treats teeto. You know what? Like I said he never made the cut direct on teeto. He just said if it turns out to be true he's going to have a rough career in the UFC and you know Jenna Jamison has made her piece with it. So I don't see Dana White cutting the guy off the cart. I still think it is true though. I mean I still think he physically did something to her. Well I mean as I said last week this is kind of a story where I believe both sides. I believe that teetos are the kind of guy who you know grab his wife and when he's angry but I also believe that Jenna Jamison is the kind of wife who would have a oxycotton in her pants. So you know no winners and no losers. There's people who people being. So going forward we reported last week that Chik Kongo and Wernhelsing we're going to be joined by Alessio Sakara and Nate Markhart on the Brock Lesnar card coming up in July. Unfortunately this is not going to be true. Chik Kongo had a recurring back injury that he suffered in his match with Paul Bonatello. He says he's going to be ready to fight in Roy Nelson but not in time for the Lesnar card. So he's pulling out. That's what check gets for going to the ground. One time he goes to the ground he gets an injury back. That's a shame. I was looking forward to that fight. He's a good fighter and it's a solid fight for him. I mean he's got the size to handle Nelson I think and Nelson's looking like an up-and-comer. He's two knock-ups in a row. Nelson was saying that he wanted Frank Meer instead. I don't know maybe Meer is a bit too high up on the card for him though. Well maybe but you know Meer's not doing anything right now and all he's doing anything right now. With that being said the way I see it this match is still booked it's just going to occur later. Yeah okay. So I don't think that there's so desperate to have Nelson on that card. Yeah that's true. It's already a stacked card. So with that being in particular because Meer's not going to train on short in order. That's true. To fight a guy. So and that being said Alyssio Sakara is also pulled out of the car. Unfortunately his father has recently passed away and Alyssio Sakara has flown back to Italy to be with his family in this time. Makes perfect sense. Perfect sense. So again he will be fighting a mar cart but he doesn't have time to train and prepare for the match in July. So he's looking forward to fighting mar cart later on. And I mean that's a fight that Sakara would really want to prepare for because I mean him beating mar cart if you were to. I don't think he will. I think mar cart wouldn't that fight but him beating mar cart would put him right into the title contention just like it did with Saunan. Absolutely. So I mean if you want to shut an innocent cell of a marker it's a guy you gotta think of him going through. So with that being said you know you can't fault the guy for this. No obviously not. So our thoughts and prayers go with him and we hope that he and his family pull through and he'll be ready to fight mar cart coming up. So speaking of fighters that have had issues with crazy breakups going back to Tito. We have a weird MMA rumor mill story involving Mike Brown and Jake Shields. During his- Oh did they break up? They did. During his defeat at the hands of Manic and Burian, Jake Shields who was seeing next day in a white turned to Dana and said you know I knew that Mike Brown was going to lose because he took two weeks off of training due to going through a very bad breakup with his psycho ex girlfriend. That explains a lot actually. That really does because he just I was so shocked that he got put out of that fight early. I mean you know maybe he's it could be an excuse it could be real but I mean he did not look like Mike Brown in that fight he really didn't. Dana went on to report that on off the record that Mike Brown had not looked like himself because he'd gone through a crazy breakup with a psycho ex girlfriend. Mike Brown has come out and said that he did indeed have a bad breakup with a psycho ex girlfriend but that was actually much earlier in the year before his Jose Aldo fight. His current girlfriend he is not broken up with and is reportedly not psycho. I wonder if his girlfriend thought that he was referring to her and was expecting him to break up with her. I imagine that he'd be a second lost the night for him. She's watching off the record and is like what? I'm not psycho. Psycho ex girlfriend getting the way of his fighting career but what supported your fighting here? So no Mike Brown reports that he is happy with his current girlfriend and not played by his previous psycho ex girlfriend. Well if he's going to fight if he's going to fight like that when he's happy he needs to get mean again. Yeah well because he just didn't look good in that Gambirian fight. Well with that being said you know sometimes a guy gets caught. Gambirian has got heavy heavy hands and he was considered a shoe in for a title shot. Speaking of Gambirian he's actually come out and said that he wants his shot with Aldo and he's going after that belt. He should be next. He's most likely next and he's come out and said the big thing that he brings to the table is that he's not intimidated by Aldo. He says a lot of people when they watch the tape with Anderson Silver on Mike Brown they overestimate the guy they're fighting. He says with himself he did not watch tapes of Mike Brown. He came in and said I'm just going to fight this guy like any other fight. That's a smart thing to do because especially with Aldo because anyone who sees that flying knee knockout on Cub Swanson it's going to be in the back of your mind when you're when you're fighting Jose Aldo. I mean and if you were to to look at that Uriah favor fight. I mean just looking at favor's legs. I mean he's an intimidating guy to to watch the tape of him. I mean I agree Gambirian I mean not watching the tapes is actually a good probably good strategy against Aldo. Well I mean the first part of fighting a champion is the mental game yep it's preparing your mind to fight a champion. So I mean the fact that he understands that does speak well of Manny Gambirian. With that being said the second part of fighting a champion is when he starts punching you and kicking you in the legs. Yeah and that part is a little bit more difficult sometimes particularly in the case of Jose Aldo. I think he I think he's going to put up a bigger fight than Faber did. I really do. I mean he's a bigger fighter than Faber and he's got he's got some you know tough chance. He's he's tough and then so favor. Yeah he's so his favor but the thing is Gambirian seems like the type that while Faber was just taking punishment throughout the whole fight Gambirian looks like someone who just laid on the line and just really go at it. So I think I think Faber was like he was as tentative as as I think Uriah Faber could be in that fight and I think Aldo just jumped on him and took advantage of that. So two more pieces of news from the UFC and WEC. First of all for the WEC we had announced previously that the initial goal of the WEC was to do about a buy rate of about 70,000 pay per view buys. Dana White said that that's what they felt was necessary for WEC to justify self and for them to go forward with putting on more pay per views. With that being said they now have a rough estimate of buys and the gate. They've announced the gate at $800,000 well they announced it a million but realistically $800,000 and they said that the buy rate is training at about 150,000 buys so more than double what they expected with the promotion they did. Yeah way over what they needed looks like WEC is one that's fight. Nice going forward. Nice. How do you feel about that Greg? I feel fantastic about that. You actually threw me a curveball because you we were talking about this before and Dave said that they only did 50,000 that WEC wasn't going to do any more pay per views and I thought I was going to cry but hearing this I I'm much happier now and I'm definitely looking forward to the next WEC. I hope they're around forever. I can't stress enough how amazing WEC is and how fun it is to watch WEC and how awesome that pay per view was. Like they were anyway I don't want to ramble on about it but I'm just so glad. The corporation has said that they feel that with WEC as a pay per view it was a great success on every level. They feel that it was financially rewarding in the gate they feel the pay per view buys are financially rewarding and they feel the fights were entertaining good fights that are going to draw fans in for more. They didn't have to pay their fighters very much. They didn't have to pay their fighters very much so hopefully that'll change because those those guys deserve a lot more money. Paper views when the money starts coming in. That's right. I mean if you look at boxing the most heavily paid guy the most highest paid guy in boxing is Floyd Mayweather who is one of the latest paid guys. When the second highest paid these guys Manny Pacquiao is even lighter than Mayweather. So you don't have to be huge to make it as a professional fighter. I mean it helps if you're a listener but you can make it as Jose Aldo too. So going forward for our last piece of UFC news. Unfortunately for Scrippen was scheduled to be fighting Antonio Rogera Nogera that would be a little nogue in the show at the end of the month on the 29th. Unfortunately he has had a recurring shoulder injury and is before to pull out of the match. The competitor who's stepping into replace him will be Jason Burles. Now this is a case where they could not find anyone else. Yeah. Coach is now signed to fight Tony so he wasn't ready to take this fight. Bones was uh you know what I heard I heard about that. He's who's he fighting do you do you know who he's fighting? I'm not a dance partner right now. Are you sure? Because I heard a rumor that he had a dance partner but I can't and it's supposed to be on the next UFC live. Which is ridiculous. He just finished his fight and he hasn't had time to prepare for Nogera. Yeah. And with that being said Greg Jackson and his camp and even Dana White are saying look this guy's undefeated or almost undefeated with the exception of the wild EQ. We're not going to put him in with Nogera. He always had no training. It doesn't make sense to put a prospect like that. That's true but they gave him somebody. I can't remember who they gave him but as far as you know nothing's come up in the booking rumors as far as has been reported to us but uh I heard it somewhere but it like it's not even uh what really surprised me was apparently it's as I said it's not even going to be on a pay-per-view his next fight. This is unbelievable. This is true. I agree with not giving him Nogera this soon. I actually think that he's higher on the car than Nogera is. I just think that don't put bones out on a short notice fight against a tough competitor. Yeah well I don't know about being higher on the car than Nogera because I mean we would have said one fly in the company. But he's got the name though. He's got the name. He's got his brother's name. He's got his brother's name but all you have to remember he was fighting forest right and I originally thought that they were going to give four bones forest you know. So I think they're on the same level when it comes to name recognition. Obviously bones has had more wins but uh more octagon wins. More octagon wins yeah um but I mean you don't have to have a bunch of octagon ones to be high on the car. Look at Gomi. They handed Gomi Florian in his first fight. True. So with that being said though I mean I certainly think I certainly agree with with where bones is coming from. I'm saying this is a fight that'd be stupid for me to take on a short notice. You know couture is busy Rashad and ran page to busy. Louise Arthur Keynes is lost for so who in the light were like Chuck and then which Franklin is busy is out. So it's a division that's definitely clogged up. Yeah there's a lot of everyone. Everyone's got a dance party or everyone's playing musical chairs and it looks like the one guy who was not left with the chair was Jason Burroughs. Yeah. So Burroughs is a former prospect. He's one of three of his last four. With that being said he is not necessarily in the category of little nog. So good luck to your Burroughs if you managed to pull this off. Yeah. Pushing me to the top of the car but give me a call out in the client. Yeah definitely for sure. So we go forward to some strike force news. First of all in a report relation to the brawl that occurred on the last pay-per-view. Oh the brawl. The last CBS special. The Tennessee Athletic Commission has sent out six letters to various participants of the brawl including Gilbert Melendez. Definitely. The D.I. and the D.I. and the D.I. Jake Shields. Mayhem. Mayhem Miller and a few other assorted people. Now they haven't done any disciplinary action yet. They're just saying we're calling you people in to come in and tell your side of the story before we make a decision. Yeah. But these are people that they're definitely looking at disciplining. That'd be that'd be interesting if they if the Athletic Commission disciplined the entire strike force roster. That's great. Could you imagine three champions getting suspended? With that being said Scott Coker has announced that he will be complying and honoring any suspensions that the Tennessee Athletic Committee hands out including suspensions of his champs. So he's saying that you know if they suspend my guys I will honor that commitment. If the Tennessee Athletic Commission suspends them they'll just be banned from Tennessee right? They'll be able to fight. Coker is saying that he's going to honor it as a promotion. Wow. So he has to do though to keep his credibility. He's going to honor his promotion. Now with that being said Nick Diaz has got a fight in Japan against the dream champion from the dream title. He says hey Tennessee doesn't mind me in Japan I'm going there. Yeah. To fight. So I mean the fighters are definitely looking at their options just in case. But Coker is saying that he's more important for him to play the political game and not tick off. You have a lot of committees. Oh yeah. I mean he's already ticked him off one. His organization is already bleeding. I mean he's he's got to stop the bleeding at some point because he's they're in trouble. Strike force is a whole lot of trouble. So with that being said Jason Mayhem Miller was originally scheduled to fight on the 616 card with Robbie Lawler. Unfortunately because Jason Mayhem Miller is you know possibly suspended. Possibly suspended. They've pulled him from the card. He will no longer be headlining against Robbie Lawler. Robbie Lawler will be fighting Renato Babaloo Sabral. Okay. Sabral is a 205 pounder so they will be fighting this fight. Catchaway. That's 195. So I'm not I'm not opposed to that. I'm not opposed to it but it's not a fight that does anything. You know. I think it'll be exciting though. It'll be exciting fight but Miller versus Lawler those are two guys that were contented for a title shot. That's true. Sabral is a much heavy guy who's in no way a title can shot contention. Yeah. It's it's one of those things that where the fight's going to happen. I think the fight will be very entertaining but yeah no one's going to care about the result. But I mean like you know if you be a guy who's 20 pounds lighter than you doesn't move you up in your division. Yeah. If you lose to guys 20 pounds heavier than you go home. Does it was that mean you know like does that doesn't mean that Robbie Lawler's not contention anymore. Yeah. I think that this is you know they need to do something for this card. But what are they going to do? So and with that being said one last piece of Strike Force news Fedor is back. Strike Force has managed to iron out their disagreements with M1 Global and they've managed to get Fedor to come back. He will be fighting in the June card on the 26th. Unfortunately for scheduling reasons Fedor has declined to fight on a CBS card or the paper view. He will be fighting Fabrizio Verodume on show time. Interesting. This is to my mind an epic disaster. Fedor is so Fedor Fedor because he he can't make the the paper view date he's not fighting on pay-per-view. Well the pay-per-view they want to do with him and overing but that's further in the future. Oh yeah that's true. Okay. If overing keeps the title. If overing keeps the title against you know Brett Grimm Rogers which isn't necessarily but basically the idea was the winner of Fedor and Fabrizio Verodume would go on and face the winner of overing and grit on Rogers for the title. Okay. Now with that being said they don't have the CBS specials anymore to put Fedor on. Yeah. And the pay-per-views further down the road. So they got to send this on a show time show. Now it's not going to be challengers it will be a strike for a show. Thank God. But it will be a show time show which is. Could you could you imagine Fedor on challengers at this point? Way to ruin like the greatest fighter in the world by putting on those bush league effects. Yeah. Haven't turned to the camera ever so slightly. Yeah. Yeah. Ridiculousness. With that being said I mean I've predicted the doom of Strike Force. I'm on the record is saying 18 months which is now 17 and a half months away. Okay. Clock's ticking. You know clock is ticking. I think that basically my opinion for this for Strike Force. Fedor is the one guy who drew a pretty solid rating on CBS that you still have in your company because the other two were Gina Crowno who's out filming movies and Kimo Slice who's now in the UFC. Fedor is all you've really got to tempt CBS back in. Yeah. You put him on you know show time. It's not going to help you CBS. You know and then the other thing is with the idea of being okay well we put on a show time he beats for doom and then we put him with the champion at some point of future. That's a lot of pieces to fall on the puzzle. Yeah really. Everyone is known to cause an issue cause a ruckus after every fight. You know every time Fedor fights M1 comes back and is about the promotion and is like more money more money. Yeah. You know or like whatever complaint it is. You know from my opinion if they start josting you and hassling you again you might not get Fedor if you get another CBS special. That's right. You might not get him if you come up with a pay-per-view cause you don't know what M1 is going to do. So I mean this to me it seems like you're wasting Fedor on a show time show which you know is going to have a much lower rating than the CBS show. Yeah. What if he gets injured at the show time show? If he gets injured or if he gets defeated. Breaks his hand like he did on Rogers you know. This is uh oh. This gives me a headache. Of course just gives me a headache man. It's too much of a to me it's too much of a risk. Way too much of a risk. To put your your best drawing fighter and put him on show time. The best fighter in the world. In a in a fairly risky match because the room is no joke. Yeah well I think he'll handle it. He'll handle it. I don't think there's a fight to fight there's always a chance. A fight to fight uh I just you know what strike force is starting to become a footnote. Fedor should I would love to see Fedor in the UFC. You know I love Fedor as a fighter. I think he is I legitimately think he is one of the best fighters in the world and I've been on the Fedor bandwagon for a long time but with that being said I'm getting the point where I have to say I'm thinking Fedor is poison because the last couple of promotions he's been in he's really really hurt him with the politics that he's being accompanied in one place. You know what though I mean him he can't poison UFC. UFC it's hard to poison right now. They're getting to the point where one guy's not going to destroy them. They got they're just so deep and uh but anyway we should agree with that. I mean I think that's the reason why one guy won't destroy him is also the reason why one guy won't make them either. And I don't see Dana White or Zofa saying hey we're gonna let M1 anywhere near our company. Yeah. Just to get Fedor. It's not I don't see that happening and I think that would be terrible business because M1 to me has proven that they mismanaged fighters. Yeah true. You know they're pocket managers. So with that being said uh I maintain my predictions for doom for strike force. But going through the strike force apocalypse is with the strike force apocalypse. But going forward we have the upcoming UFC card you see 113 this side of it. Speaking of a promotion that's not doomed we're gonna go to UFC. And this is the Montreal show so this card is packed with Canadians. The undercard will go through it. We got the athlete Jason McDonald is back which I'm happy about because I always watch I'll always love watching the athlete fight. He's fighting John Salter. This was originally supposed to be David Loazo's fight but there were some issues from getting his license. So he'll fight later on the Vancouver card but the athlete's gonna get John Salter. Then we got another Canadian Tim Hagg. He's back. I uh well I hope he does well because he's Canadian. He's fighting Joey Beltran. With that being said Beltran is a tough fighter. Yeah Hagg is not look good in his last couple outings. I mean you know as a general rule I'm gonna call Canadian as my as my picks from most of these fights including McDonald's. Tim Hagg I'm sorry buddy I love you but I can't I can't make the call. I think boss was gonna take this. Yeah I agree I'd have to agree with that. Next we go to TJ Grant versus Johnny Hendricks. That's a welterweight battle. And then we got another Canadian Jonathan Goulay. He's making his return in welterweight. He's fighting Marcus Davis. I believe his last fight was where he got Tomahawk by Mike Swick. So he's looking to make a big statement and make a big comeback. And if you're gonna do it I think Marcus Davis is the as in the right point on the card to to sort of jump off from. I really hope he wins this fight. Marcus Davis is a tough guy so it's definitely not going to be a cake walk. He's a very powerful wrestler. I mean that's something that you know TJ's had problems with before so. But Davis has kind of been on a little bit of a down slide recently too. So I don't know what we're gonna see about that one. Then we go to Joe Dorkson versus Tom Lawler and that's gonna be in the middleweight. And then another Canadian fighter. I don't know him all enough to make a call for this one so. I think Lawler's gonna take this one to be honest. Lawler I've seen before he's a good fighter. Yeah. So then we go to the main card featuring another Canadian. He's making his return Patrick Kote. This is his first fight since Anderson Silva. And he's fighting Mr Johnny Cash himself with a great tattoo Alan Belcher. Yeah. With us being said I have to say in this one I am making the call for Patrick Kote. Not just because it's kind of a fellow Canadian but for this reason. Kote as a striker is incredible in controlling the distance. Yes he is. He knows how to exactly how to kick you from range. And then if you get close he knows exactly how to clinch with you and hit you in with dirty boxing. Now when you look at Belcher Belcher is a good kick boxer. But he struggles with controlling the range of the fight. Something is very important for kick boxer. I don't see him being able to land a head kick knockout on Kote. I think if he tries it Kote is going to grab the clinch and punish him. Yep. I think Kote can punish definitely. Yeah. I have to say that to my mind I'm calling Kote to win this one. If Belcher doesn't land like a first round fluke knockout to me Kote takes his full 15 and wins the fight by decision grinds him out. Yeah. I agree. I think Kote is looking to make a statement. He's had a lot of time off so hopefully he's not rusty. But barring him being rusty I think that he's I think he's a better fighter than Alan Belcher to be honest. And I'm not just calling him. He fired us in silver. He got the title shot for a reason. So I think that Kote is a better fighter and I think Kote is going to take this. Moving on we have Kimbo. Kimbo Slice is taking on that Mitriome. This is sort of a little bit of a tough grudge match. Both of them didn't really have to be much grudges against each other. We're getting tough but yeah well it's definitely wrong. Everyone had a grudge with Matt Mitriome. Sure. Now one thing I'd like to note about this this is you'd expect this to be a brawl because Mitriome's kind of a one note fighter. He's a brawler and theoretically Kimbo is as well. With that being said Kimbo in his pre-fight statements and mentioned I've been training really really hard with American kickboxing. I've been really really training with Kane and John and Josh. That would be Kane Velasquez, John Fitch, and Josh Costcheck. Now Velasquez and Costcheck have developed a striking game but with that being said all three of those guys are known for their dominant wrestling style for their incredible shoot skills and for their ground and pound top game. So with that being said I have to imagine that Kimbo's game plan is if he's training with these guys is Mitriome's a one note fighter. He is for sure. I'm going to take the fight to the ground like I did against Houston and I'm going to pound the guy out. Oh yeah that's got to be Kimbo's strategy. I mean as much as everybody wants to see Kimbo stand and bang especially Mitriome Kimbo has got to take this fight to the ground and he will take this fight to the ground. I think the thing is Kimbo you know he's a draw. People are interested in Kimbo. With that being said Kimbo at this point in his career saying hey I want to prove that I'm legit and I want to win fights. Yep. And the American kickbox academy is not going to say Kimbo lead with your chin and swing. Yeah against against the guy with heavy heavy hands. He gets a guy with heavy cans. He was already knocked out as he's passed opponent you know. Yeah Marcus Jones when Marcus Jones is doing that. They're going to say Kimbo what worked for you against Houston Alexander was use your boxing, use your head movement, use your develop striking but if he gives you opening you take the fight to the ground and you pound him and in that fight with Houston Alexander Kimbo showed us he's got a wrestling he's got takedowns he's got a ground and pound as well as a tough tough chin. I call Kimbo to win this because I think that first of all I think his game is evolving. Yep. Second of all I think that even as a striker he's a more developed striker. Yeah. And Mitrios. I'm going to call Kimbo by TKO. Also Mitrios is known for when he gets when he does get get taken down when the fight with Nick Sweeney that he had he just gave up. He just totally gave up that that's what eliminated him from tough. So when he hits the ground he just gives up. One last comment I want to make. Cost check Velasquez and John Fitch aside from their dominant wrestling all three of those guys particularly Velasquez are known for their incredible cardio. Yep. These are guys that can go five rounds 10 rounds 15 rounds. Mitrios is known for having no gas tank. That's right. He's gassed into two round flight with Marcus Johnson where he barely threw a punch. So Marcus Jones you know or Marcus Jones. Whatever. So you know I'm thinking that you know TKO I imagine this was going to go a second or third round but I think Mitrios and I think Kimbo take TKO's. Yep. It might take till the third but yeah definitely TKO. So moving on we got another Canadian. Hands a stone. Sam Stout is fighting Jeremy Stevens and Stout's looked good. His last fight he looked really good. He's a tough guy and this is a lightweight yep lightweight by the way and I got to call the Canadian again because I like Stout. Stevens is a great fighter though. I mean he's definitely really really well developed. Most of the lightweight are. Good ground game and good striking. With that being said I love Stoney. He looked really really good in his last match. So I mean it is a sentimental pick but I'm going to make the pick. I'm calling Stones Manaka. Do you call him Hands a Stone to win this? Yeah. Okay. Yeah I agree too. Then we go to the welterweight battle. This is the number one I think this might be the number one contenders match. I mean it's debatable but I think it is. I've got Josh Koshchek versus Paul Daly. Now this is two guys who talk a lot and he's going to make things very interesting. In their pre-match run-ups the guys have been trash talking to each other non-stop. It's almost reached a cartoony level. There's been some real vitriol. These guys are just making a good show of it. Yeah definitely. And I mean you've got interesting style match up here. I mean Daly has shown that he's got a lethal left hand but he hasn't faced anyone the caliber of Koshchek in UFC and Koshchek is an awesome wrestler as we previously noted and he's got I think that he's got more tools. I really do. I think so too. Here's my thing with Koshchek. Koshchek has fallen in love with his striking game. He's a great base wrestler but he's fallen in love with his striking game. I mean in his fight with Rumble Johnson he's a great striker. He decided to face the first couple minutes you know trying to strike with Rumble to prove a good striker he is and he's getting whipped then all of a sudden he decided you know what I'm going to take the fight to the ground and all of a sudden he turned around and beat Rumble instantly because he's got a great shot. He's got a great wrestling skills. I think if Koshchek comes out and uses his wrestling skills, Daly's the one-note fighter. I don't think he's got the skills to beat Koshchek on the ground. I agree. I think Koshchek pounds him out or submits him but with that being said I think Koshchek is going to be Koshchek. He's going to come out trying to prove what a tough guy is and swing and throw some punches. You can't do that against Daly. You know you throw a wild right hand against Daly. He's going to counterpunch you. He's going to dust and hazel it you. Like he crushed dust and hazel it but the thing is Daly leaves himself so open for takedowns. He really does and at Koshchek that's going to be like a kidney candy star. Koshchek is not going to be able to pass that up. Well Daly I think will open himself up and I really think that Koshchek is going to use his head, use his training and take Daly to the ground. I would like to think that and I mean that's a smart call to make so if you're going to call Koshchek by TKO or submission that to me that's a really reasonable call but I'm thinking the psyche of Josh Koshchek because he's so inconsistent. He's not just looking to win. He's looking to win big. He's looking to make a statement. He's going to try to go for the knockout and with his wild punching and Daly leaving a really good counterpuncher. I have to say that Koshchek is going to make mistake and Daly is going to knock him out. I think regardless of how exciting the fight a fight this is the winner will get a title shot. The winner is getting GSP next. Koshchek's got to have that in the back of his mind too. Okay this isn't a gray manor situation. Like the winner of this fight Dana's got to give him the title shot. Absolutely. So Koshchek he's going to want the win. He's going to want the win more than he's going to want to look flashy. I mean he'll bleach his hair like crazy. You know he'll have the hair you know shining as always but he's going to be smart and he's going to win this fight and he's going to do it the right way using his training. Anyway we got to talk about the main event here. This is the big controversial main event. We got Lioda Machida the Dragon versus Shogun. Risio Shogun Hua. And this is the rematch from uh the uh I can't remember using 109. Okay yeah and uh the big controversial decision where Lioda won by decision and uh Hua and everybody else pretty much including Dana White thought that Hua won this fight. So this is going to be a big fight. Both these guys have a lot to prove now and uh yeah there's going to be something else. Lioda has got a very unique style and Rua may well figure that style out. I mean this happens in mixed martial arts. The game evolves. You know Lioda had a really good string but if he's been figured out he's been figured out. So Rua, Miyah Machida is saying that he's prepared for the worst and that he's been studying different styles. How to protect one kicks. Try and mix it up. With that being said I think Machida is the guy to do it. You know I think this fight is going to go long because both his guys are going to be very cautious. But I think that Shogun has such a good counter striking game with his light kicks to limit Lioda's mobility and he's so strong in the clinch that even if Lioda gets close I don't think that Lioda is going to be over be able to overwhelm the way these overwhelm other opponents. I have to call but I have to call it Shogun Rua by either TKL or late decision. I'm gonna call Lioda. I'm calling Machida. I think that Machida is stinging from the fact that nobody thinks he won that fight. He is really stinging from that and he's probably training harder than he's ever trained before for this fight. There's so much on the line here. I think that Shogun, I think that Shogun is going to have the idea in his mind that he's already beaten Lioda. So I think Shogun may come into this fight a little cocky and I think he might just stick to the game plan that worked before which makes sense. Lioda is going to adapt. He's definitely going to adapt. He's way too good of a fighter not to adapt. So this is going to be a close fight and I think I might have to call this one to go to another decision because as you said both fighters are going to be cautious and I think I'm going to call Machida to win. Okay it's definitely a good call. This one could go right down the middle because both guys have got such well developed styles. I'm really looking forward to seeing this one. I definitely recommend anyone who's you know this is a good match to see. This is going to be a really really technical fight. It's going to be a showcase. It's going to be an absolute showcase. These guys know the in and outs. They have such well-rounded great styles and it's one of those fights where it's not going to be a slug fest. It's just going to be art. This fight is going to be art. I'm totally predicting that to happen. So and as I said I'm going to predict this one to go five. All right. So I'm calling Shogun, Greg's calling Machida. Tune in next week. I'm sure Steve is here calling Machida as well and I'd be the one dissenting opinion again. I don't know. Last time was a good one. I think Steve's going to call Shogun but anyway. All right well we'll see tune in next week and we'll tell you what happened and we'll tell you if we were right or wrong. So thanks for listening to us guys.
