[music] Welcome to Hammer! I am your host Dave, joined as always by... Greg, how's it going guys? And of course, Steve. Hey. So it is March 31st and we have an interesting show for you. We've got some results from Rizala and Fallout from UFC 111, some Strike Force Challengers news, some Real News, and of course, a preview of the upcoming Fight Night, which is really... Strike Force is just not real. There's a lot to talk about in a half an hour today. Yeah, so we're going to have a busy show. Now, in case you didn't know, we were listening to us live at 93.3 CFME. You can also catch us at iTunes or on our Facebook group, or at our website, thehammer.com, that is H-A-M-M-A-R, and you can download our podcast there. If you don't know, we did a special show after the 111 card, which had a full-depth review of everything that happened. We did it live on Saturday night. But we do have a quick review for anyone who missed it. We started the card with Matt Riddle, who defeated Greg Soto by a disqualification. So it will hand it an illegal up kick to the head of a downed opponent, which ended the fight for him in round three. We had a very entertaining fight between Rodney Wallace and Jared Hammond. Hammond picked up the decision 29-28. This one was a pretty good fight. Wallace has got a lot of wild striking, which was very fun to watch, and Hammond's a pretty good wrestler. So a lot of takedowns, a lot of slams. We had Rucimar Palharis defeating Thomas Drywall in the 45-second mark of round one with a brutal heel hook. This is a very, very devastating submission. And we'll talk about that more in a bit. Then we go to live on Spike TV. We had Ricardo Almeida defeating Matt Brown by a rear knurker choke at three minutes and thirty seconds in round two. Almeida is a great submission artist, and this one was very impressive to watch. Then we had Nick Diaz defeating a very, very overweight Nori Markham at two minutes and forty seconds in round one. Markham missed weight and came in ten pounds over. Still got dispatched with ease by Diaz. Nate Diaz. Nate Diaz. And then we go to the main card. Canadian Sensation, Mark Bocek did not live up to his submission reputation. He gave up a decision loss to Jim Miller, 29-28 in the third round. With one rough saying, 30-27. John Fitch picked up an impressive win over Killer Bee Ben Sanders with unanimous decision, 30-27. Not a good match for Sanders. Sanders is mostly known as a Mutai striker. Fitch is obviously an incredible wrestler, so he basically just held him down and willed on him for three rounds. Then we go to Kurt Pellegrino fighting in the hometown of New Jersey against Fabrizio Comos. Pellegrino picked up an incredible submission win at two minutes, a four-minute mark in round two. Comos is mostly known as a submission expert. Pellegrino is mostly known as a striker. For Pellegrino to tap out Comoas with a rear naked choke, it's very, very impressive. It shows that how well developed as a fighter he actually is. Then we went to Shane Carwin versus Frank Mier. We talked a lot about this one. We're very, very excited for Carwin, but we thought that Mier has made himself a monster to take on the two dominant monsters in the division. We all still called Carwin, though. We also called Carwin, but we thought it would be an interesting fight. Unfortunately for Mier, it was not a very interesting fight. The fight was Carwin pushing him against the fence, punching him in the head, and Mier going jelly-legged. That part was interesting. Then Carwin continued to nail him on the ground. Mier goes out at three minutes and 48 seconds in round one. Shane Carwin becomes the UFC interim heavyweight champion. Frank Mier did not look to have his game together for this fight. Then we go to someone who did have their game together, George St. Pierre facing Dan Hardy. We expected that George St. Pierre would try to out-wrestle Hardy, take the fight to the ground and maybe use his incredible submission game. As we expected, he did so. Took down and Hardy down at will over five rounds. Picked up an impressive victory. Unam's decision, 50-43, 50-44, and 50-45. All judges said that Dan Hardy lost. Didn't even look at all good. It's just a question of how devastating the lost was. George St. Pierre did not manage to lock in his submission, and he said he was a little bit unhappy with his technique, but we'll go to that later as well. The fight of the night, as I said, was Rodney Wallace and Jared Hammond. They pick up a $65,000 bonus each. Knockout of the night went to Shane Carvin with his devastating victory over Frank Mier, another $65,000. Submission of the night went to Kurt Pellegrino with a rear naked choke over Fabrizio Camos. That is a reflection of the fact that the hometown was very, very into this, and Rucemar Pajares is very hesitant and very, very mad at him. Yep, cool. So we've got to follow from the press conference, following UFC 111. The biggest news, I guess, is Rucemar Pajares. He did not release a heel hook against Thomas Wall, and the ref basically had to pry him off. Well, he has been suspended for three months. No, I think that this was a garbage suspension. I'm not all impressed with this. Because it didn't happen when you fight next. Exactly. Four months from now. Yeah, of course. I mean, you're not suspending him for anything. Like what? This ridiculous. He should have gotten a year. Well, 90 days of mentioning it is an absolute joke. He's obviously is not suspended from training, so he'll probably be fighting at the four mark monitor anyways. Oh, totally agreed. And it's just lucky that the draw, he has no fractures in his knee, or like he's fine. I'm sure if he had more damage, maybe the suspension would be higher. Yeah, that probably factored into it. They probably waited to see what was wrong with drywall before rendering the decision. He definitely held him for observation. But with that being said, a heel hook is one of the most devastating submissions in any martial art. Oh, it looks vicious when he did it. Yeah, it's banned from competition, virtually everything. Yeah, if you're going to-- I mean, even tough guys like Anderson Silva or Brock Lesnar, they second they get in it. They tap instantly. Yeah, like if you're going to ban the 12/6 elbow and like, you know, take a fight away from bones, then you got banned heel hook too. I mean, the heel hook's just as devastating. And what I don't like is Palharis, his manager, his defense, was that what's Palharis is leery of slippery opponents escaping, and you wanted to make sure he finished the fight. That means nothing. Well, the opponent taps on your body for at least six seconds and then the ref has to come running over and physically pull you off. If you've trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, you know, tap, tap, tap, it's over. Yeah. You know, three taps, that's done. You let the guys heel go. Yeah, I don't know if it was adrenaline or what, but just terrible. Just not a cool move at all. And he had a vicious, vicious look on his face. He continued to crank it. It wasn't like he was like, oh, the guy taps. I'm going to lighten up a little bit to see if the ref stops it. So he just pulls out. He just kept going. It's lucky that there was no damage. Yeah. And John Fitch in the post show press conference, he called out GSB saying that he thinks it's time for him to get a title shot. I agree. I agree too. Dana told him if he wants a title shot, he's got a fight Kostjek for it. Well, but Kostjek, oh, wait a minute. Fitch responded by saying something here. Fitch responded by saying that he and Kostjek are training partners and that fight would only ever happen behind closed doors in the gym. Dana's response? Yeah. That'll make a lot of money. Well, I was thinking that you were going to say that daily was out or something. It wasn't daily fighting Kostjek. Yeah, they're fighting. But yeah, Dana, he said that he said that, look, if you want a title fight, you got a fight Kostjek. I don't think he thinks any other doesn't think that Fitch deserves it or he's getting really sick of guys refusing to fight each other. Well, you know what? That's possible. That's possible. I think it's a very important tradition that members of the same training camp in Dojo consider themselves brothers and they do not fight except to spar each other in practice. Yeah. They do not fight for money. Oh, absolutely. This goes down to like Pat Milletich had a title shot against Matt Hughes and refused to fight the guy because he was a student and a master doesn't fight a student. And I agree with that. So I mean, you're keeping the core martial arts. You're keeping that element of respect and I don't have a problem with that. I mean, it's not that hard to find good matchups. I think that Dana is getting a little big for his britches on this one. I think he just needs to like, Fitch deserves another chance. Fitch deserves another chance. I think he definitely deserves another chance. I think this is just personal opinion. But I think maybe this is just like, Dana is very much about exciting fights. Yeah, maybe he's just trying to find a way to shake Fitch up a little bit. Yeah, that's true too. I mean, that's an interesting idea and I wouldn't be at all unhappy with that. But with that being said, Fitch has not lost and over a year, his last loss of GSP, he did not lose for a year before that. No, he was undefeated before that. I mean, you know, this is an extremely good fighter. He's the second best fighter in that division. Yeah, and he's probably got one of the best shots against GSP because his wrestling game is so strong. Definitely. So it actually matches up okay with GSP was, you know, a Dan Hardy or a cost check doesn't have a prayer in my opinion against GSP's incredible wrestling. So, I mean, this is a fight that should happen and he's earned it. So, yeah, if he beat Tia Guelves, he'd be getting the fight. Yeah. If daily wasn't fighting cost check, then I would say that those two, like one of those two could be in line for the title shot as well. Because I'd like to see what daily can do, to be honest. Also, but... But Tia Guelves don't. Paul Tia Guelves. Yeah, I totally forgot about Paul Tia Guelves. I don't want him to get title fight out of a while. There are guys for sure. I mean, it's match ups for Fitch other than his training partner. So, I don't see any call to make that a sticking point. We'll see if the little John Fitch versus Dana White, the little feud goes anywhere after this. But we'll see what comes out of this and we'll know when we find out what Fitch's next fight is. Yeah. And as for GSP, in his post-fight interview, he said that he was disappointed with his performance against Dan Hardy. He insists that he was trying to finish that fight, but it was a combination of Hardy's toughness and GSP sloppy execution that did not finish that fight. One thing that I thought was interesting, after this particular fight, we had a little bit of a conspiracy there in going. Yeah. GSP might have gone a little bit easier on Dan Hardy because he didn't feel like breaking the guy's arm and putting him out for a year. GSP insists that he was training to break. GSP is insisting that, I believe. Yeah, I do as well. I mean, why would he lie about that? I mean, and it makes sense. Like, Dan Hardy is a tough dude. So, I don't see how much less sloppy a Kamura can be. That Kamura looked to be locked in as... Why would GSP say that his execution was bad? I mean, this is a guy who's revered. Yeah, but he's also a humble guy. Very humble. I mean, he's a humble guy, and I think that he probably wouldn't want to break Dan Hardy's arm, but he wouldn't want to say, yeah, I went easy on the guy because, you know, I'm going to win anyways. That's pretty much the opposite of GSP's character. I believe that... I thought it was time to respond to that, the accusation, but I mean, I think it still... I believe that I'm going to go with the hardiest, tough explanation just because you'll notice that after the fight finished, GSP went over to him and was like with his hands up in the air. Hardy just pointed to his head like it's all toughness, right? So, I mean, it looked like GSP was really cranking it and was legitimately surprised and impressed by Hardy's toughness. And GSP, actually, you can see it. When guys finish the fight and have their interview, that's their pure emotion right there. And he was instantly down on himself for not finishing that fight. That's all he said in his post-fight interview. I believe that that's the way that it went down. And it says a lot for Dan Hardy's toughness, even if he's not going to be a title contender. Yeah, for sure. Absolutely. Well, Dan Hardy's definitely a tough customer. Yeah. And yeah, that's pretty much all the news coming out of GCP. Actually, one more little piece of news. Frank Meer after that does saying Naka was suspended for 90 days for observational reasons, which probably means that he received a concussion in that fight. That would be my guess. Yeah, I mean, you're getting hit by Shane Carlin multiple times, you're going to get concussed. There were a bunch of bunch of those. Well, half a dozen. Half a dozen. Markham, drywall, try to think as well. It's your Hammond, I believe? Yeah, your Hammond observational suspension as well. This is the pay-per-view of attrition right here. And yeah, also last weekend, a fight that not as many people would have seen was the Strike Force Challenger 7 card. We said this one was interesting because Misha Tate, who is an extremely likely competitor for Sarah Kaufman, Canadian Fire Sarah Kaufman's Women's Bantamweight Championship, was fighting. And she was fighting... Zola Frosto. Zola Frosto. Now Frosto is known as the Warrior Princess and she's an extremely good striker, a Muay Thai expert. She's a tough looking chick. How did this fight pan out? The fight was... the first round was okay. You know, it was a typical Strike Force women's fight that I've seen. The second round had some really interesting ground work where Misha Tate was just working in this choke for the longest time, and I thought it would have finished. But then after it broke, she got on top, did some ground a pound, and then a really sweet arm bar to finish it off. Yeah, I really liked this fight. I even liked the first round. I mean, the second round was obviously more entertaining, but I mean, I thought that there was a lot of really great ground work displayed in this fight. I enjoyed it. Misha Tate is an expert wrestler. She really showed it in this fight. Misha Tate, take down Tate. Take down Misha. Take down Frosto at Will, grounded her multiple times, and then managed to finish the fight by submission, improving her record in 9 and 2. So with that said, Tate goes forward in the tournament. The eight woman tournament to see who is going to fight Kaufman next. She was good. Misha Tate's one loss, I'm sorry, one of her two losses, is to Kaufman. And she had actually had a really, really solid fight with Kaufman because her wrestling was pretty solid. So we'll see how that pans out. The main event of that strike force card was Levar Johnson versus Lehomi Mahi. Kind of a difficult name for me to say, but he Johnson won by a TKO in the second round. And really, for a main event, I was not really all been impressed. Sorry, what weight class was that? This is heavyweight. Oh, the heavyweight, okay. These were big guys. Okay. But really, it was two big guys landing big shots, but very, very slowly. They got very, very quickly. And it just shows that there isn't a lot of depth in the strike force roster. I'm not at the heavyweight division. I mean, their lightweights and middleweights are pretty solid. But heavyweight's, they've got Fedor, Brett, and Andre Aloski maybe over him, but he doesn't fly actually far from yet. Yeah. So yeah, so Johnson was landing these big, these big slow shots. And then the commentator said that Mahi was about to go out on his shield. Oh, he did it again. And I don't know if he did or did it. Because I don't know if he did or didn't, because I don't know what that means. But Johnson eventually started getting these punches and until the ref stopped it. You know, you know how when Jeter Dus Santos punches a guy and he goes down and then he dies on there in a flurry? Yeah. This wasn't like that at all. It was really, really, it was slow. It was like watching it in slow motion, just two tired slugs. But, you know, I guess it was entertaining in his own way. That's difficult in the heavyweight division. It's difficult to be a 260 pounder and still have strong cardio. Yeah. I mean, it's not, not everybody, but not everybody could be Fedor, Dus Santos. Yeah. So yeah, I don't, I don't think anybody, I watch this strike for a show. I don't think anybody really missed much. If you wanted to choose one show to watch this past weekend and you watched UFC 111, probably the best. So do you think that the competitor for Fedor's crown came out of that? Yeah. Yeah. Do you think someone's going to throw in there is going to be able to take on Brett the Grim Rogers sometime soon? No. Oh, actually, I've got some news about that. Alex Rovarim, as we said last week, he's scheduled to face Brett Rogers on May 15th. He's coming out of exile. Here's the thing. Yeah. He hasn't gotten strike force in like three years since he won that title. It was initially signed as a non-title fight. It is now a title fight. Oh, good. Good. It deserves to be a title fight. It should be a title fight. You're a champion to defend your title. Yup. I've said this before. So this is what I understood all the time. You're a champion. You got to be a champion to everyone in your division. But do you think that that's Overeem's decision that it wouldn't have been a title fight? No, I think that's Overeem's decision. That's Overeem's decision. Like, Silva is like, oh, I'm not fighting this guy. Overeem, I don't think, has that sort of control. Yeah. So I don't think it's his fault. I certainly agree with that. Now, that makes his fight a lot more interesting. Definitely. Because Rogers, who recently lost a feeder, has said I lost because of my nerves. I lost because of the Mike Tyson effect, but I'm not scared of him anymore. If he beats Overeem, he may well be the guy to end the feeder mistake, because he seems like he's kind of worked out in his mind what he needs to do to defend that loss. I believe the one I see. And he pounded feeder pretty hard in that match up until feeder caught him. Yeah. But yeah, I also think it would be good because even if Rogers does win, then feeder beat him an easy way to market the next pay-per-view, or their pay-per-view, their title shot, whatever. I'm just glad that Overeem is finally defending that title. You won that thing three years ago and had you had to defend it. Yeah. And it's about really a strike force is going to make a big name for themselves. You need to have a heavyweight title that's being defended. Yeah, exactly. And Chuck Liddell is claiming that his match with T2RTs on June 12th is just a tune-up fight, and he'll be moving on to bigger and better things afterwards. There's still a lot of confusion over that Liddell RTs fight. So he's not fighting Franklin anymore. He's fighting RTs. It's completely unknown. We're involved in the ultimate fighter of the season signed, no, not disclosure agreements. They're not allowed to talk about it. That makes sense. So apparently Franklin has been approached about a fight with Liddell on June 12th. We've got to say no comment. But nobody can say anything. So really, no one knows who's fighting who. And I guess we just got to watch the show and find out. But don't be surprised if it winds up being, if Rich Franklin winds up in that fight. Well, we know that Chuck is going to be fighting someone on June 12th. Yep. But we don't know where. True. We also know that the two likely competitors are Tito and Franklin. Yep. Now, Tito's wife, Jenna Jamison, made that Twitter post about how Tito was hurt and hospitalized. So we don't know his health condition. And I'm not believing anything I hear from anybody leading up to this at home. Yeah. Now, my question is whether or not Tito fights either one of these guys, Franklin or T, he's definitely going to fight someone. Do you honestly think that Liddell can get back into the swing of light heavyweight and use this as a tuna fight to go for what a championship? That's what he wants to do. I mean, Liddell against the overall combo. I think he's a one. He's a one. Yeah. He's definitely about one more. One more championship run. He strings together two or three wins. Yeah. Like a title fight. Yeah. If Couture can do it, then Liddell should be able to do it too. I think what's good for you is so I mean, it'd be good for business too. I see no problem with that. If he gets the wins, I agree, but I mean, Liddell was initially kind of semi-retired by Dana because of his health issues and then feeling that Liddell was no longer able to go to that level because of the fact that he's been injured and he's had concussions in this night. You're off on Dancing with the Stars. Maybe he's ready to go again. Yeah. But I mean, we'll see. She'll get in Liodo and Rampage and Rashad to get to get to that level. These are some guys that can hurt you, man. I mean, I don't know if I really think this is the one. We're not going to know until we see him in the octagon. Exactly. So I mean, there's no real point in circulating. The first episode of the Ultimate Fighter is actually tonight later on. So I'm going to be very interested to watch that to see, does Liddell look like he's octagon ready because I question that. I think that in his last run, when he was getting knocked out by everyone, even down to, like, you know, gatekeepers and whatnot, I don't think he's got it anymore. Well, we'll see. I mean, he's a tough dude. He's been there before. You never know. We'll find out. And I don't think we'll learn a lot on the season of Ultimate Fighter. We'll find out. We'll find it in the next one. And actually, this Vancouver show, it's kind of like a bad luck show. You don't really know what's going on with that main event. Also, they don't know where it's going to be. Yeah, exactly. Vancouver isn't locked in yet. It's looking rough. The Vancouver Athletic Commission is likely to disband this show in Vancouver. And I believe it's going to, if this happens, it's going to wind up in Cincinnati. Yeah. So actually, they should be figuring that out today. They usually have a thing where they announce the show. What, like, 11 or 12 weeks in advance. Like, they sort of, that's been their unwritten rule. So I think it's getting to that point now where we're at the mark, where they have to make a decision to announce the show. One thing that I want to comment on, I'm actually getting very frustrated with our Canadian Athletics Commissions. UFC has a perfectly safe record. They have never lost a fighter in the ring. And honestly, I can't even think of any fighters going out with, you know, permanent injuries as opposed to, say, football or hockey, where there's been guys who have died on the ice in the last year. You know, this is ridiculous. This is as safe as boxing. If we're going to sanction a boxing match or a kick-box tournament, why would we not let a UFC fight? I totally agree. But it's tougher to recite that to the public. It's two guys fighting in a cage. It looks wrong. Yeah. The cage element is the big thing. I think that, you know, the difference between a ring and a cage is so pronounced to some people. They hear the term "cage fighting," and they just think, "Oh my God, it's fight to the death." It's John Claude Van Damme and kickboxer. Exactly. I agree that there's a certain visceralness that the cage adds to it. But this is a 20-year-old sport. Yeah. You know, the first year of Ultimate Fighting Championship was in 1991, I believe. I think '93, early '90s. In that case, early '90s, this has been, you know, 17 years minimum with no deaths and no significant serious injuries, whereas boxing and hockey and football in the meantime have all lost people in the sport. I think that it's time to say, "Hey, you know, why can't we not have a GSP fight in the Roger Center? Why can't we not have, you know, Canadian fighters like Horadechi fighting in their hometown of Vancouver?" This is, you know, something that I think that we should press for as Canadian MMA fans and say, "Hey, we want this in our town." It is safe. It is a legitimate sport. It is no more unsafe than, you know, any athletic endeavor, really. International sport. International sport, really, so. That's true. I agree. But it is going to be a tough style. That was the David Rant of the day, and I got all positions to listen to this show and take us into a kid's body. Sermon on the mic. Yeah. Sermon on the mic. And he underwent a successful medical procedure to help the hemisphere of his brain. He had brain complications that had to pull out of his fight last Saturday. He came out of surgery fine. He's hoping to fight in June or July. I'm glad to hear it. That's good. I'd like to see him back in the ring. David's the division a little bit. Yeah, back in the tunnel. I don't wonder what kind of brain complications he had that required surgery in the last time it was for his brain, so I mean, I don't think- That could be anything. I mean, it could be like, it's been stated that it's a minor surgery. I don't know how minor a brain surgery can be, but- Well, I'll tell you what, I believe is coming out of shoot boxing, and when they train in shoot boxing, they go full force, but we do knock each other out in training and sparring all the time to accustom their fighters to it. I think this is a dangerous, dangerous thing to do. If you look at Muhammad Ali, the reason why he is in such bad shape today is because he took too many shots to the head in the ring. So I mean, to me, that's a warning sign, and I would want to keep an eye on that. Oh, and the concussion issue is a huge thing in sports, and in all sports right now. But we don't know if this is related or not, but if it was- It's easy, it's too early to say, but I think that's a bit of a warning sign, and I would keep an eye on- Yeah, the fact that he's aiming to come back shortly, though, I would like to thank it. Fighters like to push themselves hard, too, so any athlete does, really. True. And yeah, that's pretty much it for the news. Okay, so we go forward to Fight Night, which is tonight. This is going to be live on Spike TV. So we're going to have the Ultimate Fight Night 21, and then we're going to go to the kickoff show of the Ultimate Fighter season 11, Liddell vs. Ortiz. So on Fight Night, we are going to have a preliminary card of Charlie Brennan vs. Jason Hi, Gerald Harris vs. Mario Miranda, Yushin Okami vs. Lucio Lynn Harris. Now, Okami's last fight was against Chill Sonnen in the middleweight division. He was out rustled and kneaded in the beer by Sonnen in the three pounds. Sonnen's finishing move from the knee to the knee to the back. With that being said, Okami is a pretty good fighter, so hopefully he can come back and show us what he's made of. And then Kayle Uno vs. Gleason Tibout. Tibout is an incredible wrestler. He's a good wrestler. He's a good wrestler. So he's a fun guy to watch. Rob Emerson vs. Nick Lantz, Christmas Jacob Volkin vs. Ron H. Torres. He still has a job. He still has a job. He does, but maybe not for long. He's given up to three losses in a row now. So if he loses to Ron H. Torres, I might have been his last fight he took at the... It might have been his last fight, but he took it at the very last minute. So I'll give him a pass on that one, but really when it comes down to it, Volkin's going to lose it again. He's going to cancel Christmas. Right, or the USC, Christmas is canceled this year. Christmas is the lead. Colin is stalking. Then we go forward to previous Ultimate Fighter winner, Andre Winter vs. Rafaela Oliviero. He didn't win. He lost to Ross Pearson. Yeah. So that would be an interesting fight as well. On the main card, we have Ross Pearson, Winter vs. Dennis Spinning Backcake Seaver. This is going to be awesome. I think this is going to take fight at the night. I'm predicting it right now. Seaver, previously, knocked out of the night with a spinning back kick, and Ross Pearson is an absolute bulldog. His last name is Pearson, so he's amazing. This will be fight at the night. Someone's probably going to knock out. It's going to be really, really physical. I'm looking forward to it. Seaver's last match was in the Kota vs. Vera show in London. He got KO with the night, if I remember correctly. He got KO the night with a spinning back kick to the body, broke his opponent's ribs, and he could not breathe. He had to give the fight up. So it was a KO of the night. Seaver is devastating. I'm calling him to win this over Pearson. You're a call? Not having. Pearson is taking this. You think Pearson? It's tough. I'm going to go. I'm going to go Pearson, but it's tough. I think it's going to be a real role. Okay. So, Pearson, I'm saying that the German Dennis Seaver continues his oppression over British fighters. Pearson's never lose. So, then we go forward to Nate Quarry vs. Jorge Rivera. Quarry is best known for his devastating 30-24 victory over Caleb the runner Starnes. If anyone ever saw this fight, Caleb Starnes actually turned his back and ran, like, full out sprinted around the cage for three rounds, was given a cowardice loss. A cowardice. Caleb's Canadian too. So that kind of hurt. It was a shameful, shameful thing to see. So, Caleb Starnes, not in price of victory. I think that Quarry has, you know, not necessarily up to fighting Jorge Rivera. I'm calling Rivera to win this one. I agree. Same here. Okay. So, three calls for Jorge. Quarry, let's see what you got in your real fight, man. Then we go forward to Roy Nelson vs. Stephen the Scryscaper Stroove. Now, Stephen Stroove is one of my favorites. I love him. He's extremely tall, six foot eleven, 255 pounds just growing into his huge frame. And he is an expert on the ground, one of the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu masters in the division of heavyweight. And he's also so tall that it's hard to knock him out and submit him. With that being said, Nelson has extremely tough chin. He was not knocked out by Brandon Schwab. So, I don't think that Stroove has got the ability to knock him out. Nelson is so heavy and so round, it's hard to control the guy on the ground. I think that Castell's makes fights. This is a very, very poor match up for Stroove. This is a horrible match up for Stroove, and it sucks too, because I like Stroove as well. I'd like to see Stroove do something. And this could not be a worse match up. Nelson can take a punch. He's deceptively fast. Well, Stroove's not that strong of a striker, it's true. That's what I mean. And Stroove is... He would be able to put away Bonatello or Chase Gormley, both of whom are susceptible to Naka. And Stroove, I mean, he's great on the ground. He's awesome at JITs, but Nelson is just a whale on the ground. I mean, if it goes to the ground, you've got to give the edge to Nelson as well. I mean, Nelson had previously competed against Frank Mir in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments and beaten Mir, beaten him convincingly. Yep. So I mean... When Mir was at the top of his game, I'm not to say that. I'm not to say that. As much as I love the skyscraper. He's not going to get knocked out or sat on. Yeah. I have to call Nelson to win. Yeah. Nelson, for sure. I don't like it, but I got to agree. So Nelson is the previous winner of Ultimate Fighter the most recent season. With that being said, Dana White is on the record as being having a certain contempt for Nelson. He does not like the guy. If Stroove managed to deliver a victory over Nelson, I would imagine this would be very, very, very good for his career. Oh, yeah. So if Stroove is going to win... You mean the bad guy. Yeah. If Stroove is going to win this, my call is, use your reach, use your skill, stay off the ground, point the guy, go for the decision. Yeah, I agree. I think he's got to win this by decision, I think, too. I just don't see it happening. I would like to see Stroove win because I like him. I just don't see it happening. No. I mean, unfortunately, our calls were Nelson, but hopefully Stroove can deliver. And then we go to the main event. One of the Marlins in the lightweight division, Kenny, Kay Flo, Florian versus the newcomer, Takanero, the fireball kid, Gomi. The newcomer to UFC. Yeah. He's been around a while, but this is the first UFC match, is that? Yeah. Gomi is a veteran of Pride and Dream. Yeah. He's a champion of Dream. He's an extremely good lightweight. Now, with that being said, Florian is an absolute beast in the UFC lightweight division. And Gomi will be competing against a slightly different rule set in as much as he's not going to be able to use his kicks to grounded opponents who are on a lot of the 12-6 elbows that he's famous for. This is going to be exciting. I'm going to enjoy this fight. I think this is going to be really fun because Gomi is fun to watch from what I've seen in his Pride days, and Florian's great. He's a great Muay Thai striker, and his fights are usually exciting. Like the Guida fight where he just dominated Guida, I mean, that was great to watch. So with that being said, who are you going to call for this one? Ken Flo. Yeah. Gomi's a tough dude, but it's generally considered that his best days are past him, and Kenny Florian is, I mean, lost to BJ Panaside. He is as good as he's ever been. Everyone loses to BJ. Yeah. And I see him just, I see him counter punching and just being the fast Kenny Florian that he can be. Yeah. And I see him winning this K-flow, definitely, and getting right back into title contention. Well, I do love Kenny Florian striking. I think his Muay Thai is the best in the division. I think in a lot of ways, he's an even better striker than Panas. With that being said, Gomi is also an extremely good striker, and he's a tough, tough dude. He can take a punch and he can land a punch, his grounded pound is impressive, his wrestling is impressive. I have to call Gomi. He's got the experienced advantage. I think he rustles Florian to the ground, and he grounded pounds on Florian, is acceptable to take downs. So I mean, that wrestling base of Gomi is going to come in with very, very handy. That's what he'll have to do. He'll have to take down a grounded pound. Yeah. I just don't see him getting past K-flow. Yeah. The question is, can he do what Pan can do? So with that being said, those are our predictions for the fight night tonight, and after that, they will go to the Ultimate Fighter Season 11, Chuck Liddell, versus Tito Ortiz. This season premiere. This is a season premiere, and these will be middleweight fighters. Middleweight is an open division right now, so they're trying to bring in some new blood here with 16 new faces. Especially if Sylvan moves up. Especially if Sylvan moves up. So look forward to that.
