[Music] Welcome to Hammer! We are coming to you on March the 24th at Wednesday night from Hamilton Ontario and we're going to bring you some of the local MMA news and as well as MMA news from around the world. I'm your host Dave, joined us always by Greg. How's it going guys? And of course Steve. Hey. So we're going to bring a quick preview to you of the UFC coming up, the UFC 111 with a GSP, but we're going to start with a review of what just happened on Saturday night. This was UFC this past Sunday night versus. Mm-hmm. Fair enough. So Sunday versus we had the John Vones, Jones versus Brandon Veracart. We began with a victory of Jason Burles over Eric Shafer and Mike Pierce over at Giulio Polino. We go to Darren Elkins who beat Dwayne Ludwig with what we could hold out due to ankle injury and he split decision victory of Vladimir Matti Shankot versus Elliot Marshall. Then we go to the main fights that we want to talk about. We told you to look forward to Brendan Schwab versus Chase Gormley. Dave's favorite fighter. One of my, one of my favorites from the last Ultimate Fighter. He in devastating TKO victory in 47 seconds over Chase crushed him looked very, very impressive. So Schwab is back to being a heavyweight up-and-comer. He's not getting fired. He's not getting fired. We were hoping to see that on the main card. Unfortunately. But it didn't make it apparently. It's airing Wednesday night tonight on UCLA East on Spike. So keep an eye out for that on UFC. It was on UFC Unleashed. It wasn't gonna press a fight. Gormley has now lost too straight. Will wants to, Schwab and wants to shrewve. So he may well be on the way out. So we go to Clay Guida versus Shannon Googerty. This is another fight that did not make TV but will be on UFC Unleashed. I will go out of my way to see this. I love like Guida fights. Yeah, Guida fights are awesome. And this was supposed to be an exciting one. Guida beat Googerty by a rare triangle choke submission. Arm triangle choke in the second round at three minutes and 40 seconds. So Guida picks up a win and hopefully you can build up some momentum. Get himself back on the main card. And then we had the final preliminary fight which was John Howard versus Daniel Roberts. This one actually did make it out to TV because it was a very impressive one. Daniel Roberts showed some great wrestling taking Howard down, punching him, doing some ground and pound, landing a lot of what looked to be hard shots. Howard showed some toughness, managed to wrestle his way off the ground. Then he picked Roberts up on his shoulder, carried him into the middle of the ring and slammed him. Very impressive. Very impressive show of strength. Roberts looked to be stunned. Howard jumped back to his feet and then did a flying Superman punch fist drop on how I'm sorry on Roberts. Crushed him. The guy looked like he was slain. He literally knocked him stupid because Roberts when he went out and made the stupidest face I've ever seen. That was a scary scary punch. And he followed it up with many more. He punched him like four times before the rep actually stopped it. I thought Steve Musigotti was there. It's what it felt like. This is such a fast knockout from such an unexpected. The referee was out of position now to be able to stop that in like three or four punches though. So yeah, that's like that's a brain damage knockout right there. Yeah, this was this was a scary one. Roberts was out for quite a long time. He was out from pretty much the rest of the you have the announcements had to be kept out of the ring. Yeah, they flashed over to him when they were announcing the winner and he was just sitting there in the corner glazed eyes. He was back. It wasn't until he walked out of the ring after the winner did because he was he was all messed up. Howard however extremely impressive win for a welterweight. A lot of finishing power, a lot of wrestling ability. So look for him to be making it onto the main card. This one one of the knockouts the night and there were three. So the first knock out of the night. So we go to on the main card, Alessio Sakara versus James Irving. What a disappointing fight that was. We expect to learn from two very very well-rounded strikers. Unfortunately Irving did not bring it as a game tonight. Alessio Sakara punched him in the eye. Irving immediately backed off and called there was an eye poke. It was not close review of the playback show that it was a clean blow to the cheek that glanced up in his eye with a closed fist. The thumb was pointed down. There was no way this was an eye poke. No, not a chance. It was controversial though. I mean it was very very fast. So you thought that maybe it might have been an eye poke especially with the way Irving reacted but no he just hit him square in the eye with his knuckle. Like it was a perfectly placed shot and you saw Irving's eye afterwards and it looked like he it was a pay-by numbers on his eye and like that was they had a lot of colors on his eye. I gotta say that Irving was beat before he even got into the ring. Oh he was. Yeah. He didn't look good that that way drop. It must have been something. He looked sick. Like he looked like like he looked like rumble johnson did when I thought cost check if he was like emaciated. He cut too much weight. He looked he was backing up looked on sluggish and then the crazy eye thing like I don't know. That's that thing said his punches and quicks were still coming fast. It's just Aliceo Sekara is such a fast fighter himself that he was able to track down Irving. I mean I think Irving might have been able to pull it off over a lot of luster fighters but you don't go you don't try that going into fight with the top competitor, top competition. Sekara crushed him. I don't know he had just look on his face like he wanted to vomit. Yeah he really did. He was probably vomiting like crazy the night before. Make that wait. So then we go to check Congo versus Paul Bonatello. These are two heavyweight strikers so a lot of people expected a knock out kind of brawl. I actually expected this to be a very technical fight from Congo and I was not disappointed. Congo is showing his wrestling abilities. It took Bonatello down multiple times grounded the fight and landed a lot of shots from the ground. Punished the body and the stand-up did not do not exchange the Bonatello. This was clearly a case where Congo's camp has been training him to work on his wrestling and couch wrestling. Definitely. And they said Congo you've been on a little bit of a losing streak. You can't go out to Bonatello. You have to beat this guy. He's a lesser fighter than you. Yeah play it safe. Play it safe. Win the fight by decision if you have to. You had a game plan and he followed that perfectly. He did it. Every time he had the chance he could follow up with strikes. No take down. More come on the ground. It was a very smart fight. I didn't need it to win. Very smart fight. Not the most exciting fight. No I enjoy it. I did enjoy it. Now this was a little bit sloppy. Congo with a couple of knees to the head as you had Bonatello on the ground. Including one where Bonatello looked like he was about to take the knee and he dropped his helmet hand to the mat to try to call for the knee. The ref saw through that one but there was some legitimate sloppiness here. Congo was Dr. Point in the second round. In the third round he made it moot. He put Bonatello on his stomach, got into a back mount position and began using elbows to the body. This would be almost 12-6 elbows downwards on the body. Bonatello tapped out very very quickly in this. It was like elbows to the thigh I believe. It was thigh, kidney. It was all over. It was all over the torso. It really was. This is the first time I've actually seen someone tap to strikes to the body. That's the first time I've seen it. It's the first time I've seen it. There's one on a strike force show not that long ago but I think it's awesome when it happens. That just shows how much damage these guys are to have. A lot of people don't think that the body shots do damage and a fight like this shows you that they do. One to tell the two is credit. I think I can take a lot of damage. He had his finger dislocated and he didn't pop it back into. The ref comes over, pops it back in and he starts danced around like he's ready to go again. He's a fun guy. He's got some sportsmanship. I like that you know let's touch him up. Let's touch him up. He's a fun guy to watch. I don't like to see him lose but I mean he's facing guys that are better than him. Do you mind me at Homer Simpson in an unboxing episode where he just takes hit after hit after hit? I'm thinking oh man you know he's just playing possum. He's going to check Kongo's not going to get tired. He did not get tired. I know Kongo did not get tired. Did not get asked on his fight. Devastating elbows very very impressive so Kongo returns to his winning ways. Bonatello needs to pick up some wins I think before he goes up against you know the top six or seven guys in the division again. So what next for Kongo? That's a good question. I don't really know. The unfortunate thing with Kongo is the heavyweight division is so stacked right now. Those top five or six guys are just on a whole different level. Do you guys think he's ahead of Strove? I think so. There's the fight. No that's the fight. Strove is facing that. If Strove wins his next fight that makes sense to me. I would agree with that. If Strove beats Nelson I would like to see Strove versus Kongo. With that being said there are a couple of other up-and-comers in the division particularly Todd Duffy who's just coming back and off his back injury. So that's a striking fight there. But Duffy's beaten one jobber though. True. In spectacularly one jobber but you know I you know what Tim Higgs Canadian no disrespect to the guy but he he jobbed out of that fight. So you know does Duffy at that level? I don't know. I can see until you get the guy a chance to get in there. If he looks like he has the tools and say game of shot. Like as I said there's just there are people in the heavyweight division that are not in the top five. So speaking of people who are in the top five including one guy who might be fighting Kongo next. We have Gabriel Gonzaga versus Junior De Santos. So Gonzaga is a well known submission expert and really really good on the ground with some strikes. De Santos is known for his powerful power for boxing. We are big big fans of De Santos. I think that with maybe the exception of Velasquez he's one of my favorites in the division and he's definitely a man of destiny as it were. It's been excellent watching him tear through guys his last five fights. Oh yeah. So he's a monster. He was scheduled to fight Gonzaga before. Did not manage to get make that fight happen. Gonzaga had to pull up for an injury. It finally happened on Saturday. De Santos came up with a game plan unlike Kongo. His game plan was to crush Gonzaga standing. Gonzaga came up with a similar game pen. He wanted to show that he was not intimidated by De Santos's boxing. He proved that by walking his face into going to Santos's fist. Unfortunately, Gonzaga's strategy did not work. De Santos made short work of him. This was a TKO victory at four minutes into the first round. This was a devastating punch that St. Gonzaga down followed by more punches from the top. Gonzaga was completely outmatched by De Santos's speed and boxing power here. I got to say I was really I thought that this was going to be a little more of a contest. I didn't like I love Junior. Don't get me wrong. But I didn't think Junior was going to crush Gonzaga the way he did. I thought it was going to be a little more of a contest especially given the relative sizes of the two guys. But Junior impressed me once again. He's very very big but De Santos said I may be smaller but I'm much quicker. Yes. He showed that. There was a couple times he did darting little light punches to Gonzaga's body and Gonzaga just couldn't catch the guy. He's just on a different level. He is. Totally is. So with that being said, the commentators and the crowd definitely crowned Junior here. They're calling him one of the top five. I have to agree. Oh yeah. He is number five in that division. Yeah, definitely. Which is kind of stunning that you have a devastating victory over top contender. That makes you number five. Yeah, number five. It's true though. He's number five. And so what do you do with the next? Does he face the loser of Muir Karwin? I think so. I think he's going to face the loser of Muir Karwin. But it's such a stacked division with so many good fighters. It's hard to tell what they're going to do. I think putting De Santos against Velazquez would be a waste personally. I think that's a title eliminator, not a title maker. Exactly. So De Santos, incredible victory. Very very impressive. Keep an eye out for him. De Santos and Velazquez are to me the future of the sport. If De Santos keeps winning, I'm seeing a title fight in the next year. Yeah, I think it would probably be three years because I think that there's so many guys glided at the top. No, there's so many guys ahead of him. Which means that can happen in a year. Yep. We'll see. We'll see. So then we go forward to the main event, which was John Bones Jones versus Brandon Vera. Bones. So the story of Brandon Vera's life is that he loses but then he says, "Guys, I lost that last one but I'm going to train even harder for my next one." And then he loses it as well. You laugh but it's true. It's been the last two years of his career. Yeah. And so sadly for Rivera, he was not at all able to catch Jones with his superior wrestling. Jones took the fight to the ground at Will, clubbed Vera solidly and thoroughly. Vera looked frantic. He started doing ground upkicks that landed on the head of his down opponent. Yep. Almost got himself disqualified. Jones waved off the DQ and said, "No, no, I want to if I want to pound it out." Within a minute, he did. Three minutes and 19 seconds. He landed a devastated elbow. This one was not a 12-6 elbow. This was a legit one. This was clean. Right on Vera's cheekbone crushed his orbital eye socket. Three places. Three places. Vera immediately covered up and went this one out. So the rest stopped at Jones, devastating victory. Very classy, bowed and left. Vera crushed his eye socket. I think he's out for eight, nine months. It's easy. He's out for a while and Bones has made it. He's on the way up now. Bones is definitely, he's tired. He's taking the top-top competitor. I mean, again, I think that Bones is in the exact opposite of DeSato's but kind of the same as well. DeSato's, there's so many guys in his division that are on his level that it's hard to find him with a dance partner because everyone's taken up. Jones, there's so few guys in any way that are available at his level. I started to pick who's going to fight now. I say give him Forest. Forest would be good to me. Forest would be a good fight. There's no real reason that they shouldn't. Bones is with Great Jackson. Forest is with Extreme Couture. Unfortunately, I think that Forest is not able to handle Jones. I don't think it's a good fight for Forest. I won't take it. But Forest has to fight somebody. I mean, I think it'd be a good fight. I think Bones is a bit quick but Forest is big. I mean, let's not count Forest out. I mean, Forest had a couple of rocky fights. He beat Ortiz, not in spectacular fashion but Forest is still a major player. Like, I think a Bones victory would be amazing and I think a Forest victory would is as possible. I mean, I love Bones. It don't get me wrong but Forest is a tall order and I think it's a good challenge for Bones. Forest is known for his wonderful low kicks and his Great Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. But with that being said, I don't think he can handle Jones's wrestling. Well, I want Jones to win. I think it's a fight that should happen. I think it'd be an interesting fight to watch but I don't know where Forest is in terms of his readiness. That's true. That's true because he hadn't fought, well, he fought Ortiz a little while back. That was close to split decision victory and he had took a year off before that after the year the Sylvanason. So, again... That wasn't a year off. Yeah, what was it? That was like four months. No, it was longer than that. No, I think it was about four months. Yeah, it wasn't very long. Yeah. No, I never could be moving on. Jones and DeSantos both shared Naka to the Knight honors with John Howard. Howard, yeah. So, this was three Naka's the Knight. The submission of the Knight went to Clay Guida with his arm triangle choke. That was... There was no fight of the Knight which I agree with. All the best fights were shorts. Yep, and I think the money... Short one-sided. Short one-sided win. So, yeah, I think it's right. Three Naka bonuses, that's three guys who deserved it. Same amount of money spent. So, all in all the good wrap up there. So, we go to the news. All right, so Dana White was on off the record here in Canada this past week and he was trashing strike forces Jake Shields versus Dan Henderson, a middleweight title bout on the April 17th CBS show. His reason being that that Jake Shields is on the last fight of his contract. This title fight will be his last fight and his contract says that when or lose, it's over. He doesn't have one of those champ... If you're the champion, your contract rolls over clauses that most champions have, especially in the UFC. Well, Jake Shields was not a champion when he signed his contract because he signed a fairly long contract. Unfortunately, now he's got the belt and he's got the ability to leave with the belt. So, right. Painful oversight there on the strike force. So, Dana's saying that they put Dan Henderson in this middleweight belt just because... They're sure that he's going to be Shields and that this is a joke that this fight is essentially a joke. I would absolutely love to see Shields win and then bring the belt on the UFC. They'd have to block it out, Ric Flair style. It'd be great. And I really don't see Dan Henderson losing this fight anyway, but Jake Shields, I mean, he could roll this title win here into some serious, serious money with the UFC. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Dana would pay almost anything to steal a champion. Pretty sure he would give him an international airport. And with that being said, Shields, because of his incredible wrestling and his impressive durability, he's no joke. I mean, people thinking that he's going to roll or that Henderson can roll over him. Henderson's a great striker, but he's had issues with wrestlers before. So, I mean, I think the way that Shields took Miller down at Will and managed to grind the fight out, he can pull that off against Henderson too. And in other strike force contract news, Jacobu Sasi, he has one fight left on his contract. He's got the belt as well, but he's got the light heavyweight title. He's got the clause in his contract that says that if he wins, then his contract will will continue. So, yeah, he's fighting King Mo on the same show April 17th. With that being said, with his contract being up, Mosasi does have the option to forfeit. And he has previously said he was in talks with the UFC. However, at this point, he's saying that he is very happy to strike force and he's looking forward to continuing. So, I would imagine that if you strike forces at all clever, they'd be offering this guy a lot of money to try to keep him. He's the only light heavyweight in the world who's not locked up by UFC at this point. So, yeah, he would be a real asset to the UFC. I'm just picturing him going into the ring and just kind of like throwing the fight. So, we just have to stay in strike force. He can go sign somebody to go into UFC. He brings a banana peel into the octagon with him and slips on it. Yeah. What have I done? Strike force's next major show after April 17th is taking place on May 15th in St. Louis. And it's Andrey Olofsky versus Bigfoot Silva. And strike force heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem versus Brett Rogers in what is currently a non-title match. That's ridiculous. Overeem has not defended his strike force heavyweight title in three years. That's Bush. Since the day went. That's just Bush. I'm sorry. Do you think they're just saving his title fight for Fedor? Yeah, I think they are. That's exactly what they're doing. It's pretty clear they're saving that fight for Fedor. They don't want to give Rogers, who's recently lost to Fedor, a immediate title shot. Why book the fight? It's placeholder. Unfortunately. Expose how weak your roster is. Unfortunately, Alistair Overeem has to fight someone. He is a champion. Oh, he doesn't really never fight in straight form even years. So, they need to put their champion on some sort of card before they give him the pay-per-view against Fedor's law. And unfortunately, they don't want to risk the belt. They don't want to risk the belt. I just don't see him as a big enough name. That he has to be the guy to defend that belt on paper people. Yeah. It's just defend the belt. It's the title. Yeah. I think most people probably think he doesn't exist. They think he's just like an ace. Yeah, he's really Scott Coker shares with you. He's just like a scary fairy tale. So, we've been talking about it for months. But it's finally official. May 29th in Las Vegas. Rampage Jackson versus Rashad Evans is official. So, very cool. Great fight. That's going to be awesome. And Akiyama said he will be facing a waterlays Silva in July. So, it should be July 3rd. Interesting fight. Yeah. Seems like a reasonable fight. Akiyama said that'll be a year between Akiyama fights. Yeah. I don't think he's fought since UFC 100. Yeah. I don't think he has either. I agree. He fought Johnny Cash to do. Oh, Belcher. Yeah. That's tattoo. So, with that being said, having a close fight against Alan Belcher and taking a year off to fight one early Silva. That's a little bit scary. I don't know if I'd want to do that. Yeah. You think they'd give someone else a wand really? Yeah. And, oh, Scott Koker, the head of Strike Force said this week that he has reached an agreement with Fedor. And he will be having the second of his three contracted fights with Strike Force in late June against Birdo. Okay. So, cool. I'm glad they got that worked out. Yeah. Fedor should be fighting. I don't care where he fights. Just, I want to see him fight. I don't care if he fights out front of my house. I want to see Fedor fight. So, and? So, there's a big guy. There's a big MMA show this weekend, right? Oh, yeah. Are you guys watching Strike Force Challengers on Friday night? No. Did you guys even know there was a Strike Force show on Friday night? I fact you know that there's a Strike Force show on Friday night. Just the bad production value at all. Yeah. Obviously, there's a big UFC card this Saturday. And I really think this Strike Force card on Friday, March 26, has become lost in the shuffle. And probably with good reason. Levar Johnson versus Lahohi Mahi in the main event. Okay. And then there's Misha Tate versus Zola Frosto in the Women's Division. Is that the tournament or is that just? I believe it's in the fight in the tournament. The tournament, okay. So, yeah, I don't know. So, this is part of Strike Force's idea to have an eight-woman tournament in each of their women's weight classes to determine who the next number one contender will be. Now... Just sounds like it's going to take a long time to find a contender. The lovely Misha Tate is an extremely talented competitor. She's got some great wrestling. So, if you're not doing anything Friday night and you want to watch Strike First Challengers, it might be a good show for that. With that being said, I don't imagine that this one is going to get a lot of coverage from us. Especially with the big one this Saturday night. UFC 111. All right, enough of this. This is all that GSB. Actually, one more quick note of news that I think is important for us. Michigan has recently instituted a new policy that for their athletics commission, any UFC or boxing match in their state, both fighters have the option to demand a way in the day of the fight immediately before the fight. That is important. This is to prevent the weight cutting. Now, Michigan has done this. It's not worldwide yet, but the Michigan market, particularly Detroit, is important to the UFC. So, for the guys that are doing wacky weight cuts, that's an important market to lose. And if everyone falls, falls, suits... If other people fall asleep... Otherwise, guys like that probably just won't take fights in that area. Yeah. Ideally, that's probably what their initial plan is. But if Nevada picks up that same role, that's going to change the game very, very drastically. Because so many of the fighters aren't weighing the right weight the day of the fight. They're all cutting and then bulking back up. Yeah, really, if this is going to take any... If it's going to be anything and it should, it's if every area does it and it will completely change the game. Exactly. So, keeping an eye on that, that one will be important going forward. It's not huge yet, but it will become one, I think. So, going forward to UFC 111. This is on this Saturday. This is going to be a great card. In the preliminary fights, we have Matt Riddle versus Greg Soto, Rucemore Palaharis versus Thomas Drowell, Rodney Wallace versus Jared Hammond, Kurt Pellegrino versus Fabrizio Comes. Then, live on Spike TV, we will have Nate Diaz in his first fight as a welterweight versus Rory Markham. Diaz is a trash talker and a bit of a clown, but he is a very interesting guy to watch. Markham's exciting too. Markham is a good knock on artists, so this is going to be a good fighter, I think. That's a good Spike TV fight because it creates a TV fight. Diaz is a bit of a name, but I don't be some action, so I'm looking forward to it. And then, we have Ricardo Almeida versus Matt Brown, so that one is going to be another interesting fight live on Spike TV. That's free for everyone to watch. Then, we move to the main card. We are going to start with Jim Miller versus Mark Barchek, the Canadian fighter. Barchek is one of the best submission artists in the lightweight division. He is incredible on the ground and he's a Canadian fighter, so if he takes the fight to the ground, I have to call Bocek to win. And Miller is not known for his counter wrestling, so I'm calling Bocek. He's a fairly decent wrestler. He's a decent wrestler, but Bocek's a great wrestler. Yeah, Bocek's a surgeon. Obviously, if it goes to the ground, it's Bocek's. If it stays standing, it'll probably be Miller's. I'm hoping Bocek wins, because he's Canadian. So then, we go forward to the welterweight, so we have Ben Killer B Saunders against Jake Allenberger. Ben Saunders is a Mai Tai technician. He is incredible with his knees, including a devastating victory over Marcus Davis, very fairly recently, via knees. Jake Allenberger is a tough striker, very well rounded. With that being said, I got to call Saunders. Oh, yeah, definitely, absolutely. I think this is a lower level opponent for Saunders. He took the fight on short notice, didn't he? Yes. Allenberger is replacing somebody. Allenberger is replacing Martin Kentman. Yes, that's right. Who is Martin Kentman, who is a title contender-ish in welterweight. He's injured. Allenberger stepped up to take the fight. I think he's going to regret that, come Sunday morning. Yeah, Saunders is going to crush him. I think he's going to be bleeding inside his chest. You're going to get something on my chest. You guys think it's going to be another win by knees? Oh, yeah, absolutely. I hope so. Yeah, so do I. I never get tired of seeing that. So also in the welterweights, we have what is being dubbed as the number one contender is about for all the reasons for the GSP title. This would be John Fitch versus Teago Alves. This is a little bit of an unusual one. Teago Alves was injured in his last fight at UFC 100, where he was defeated by GSP. Don't know why he's backing the title contention so fast, but he is. John Fitch has also previously been defeated by GSP, but he had a very, very tough fight. I feel as though Fitch has rebuilt himself. Fitch deserves the spot. I think that I think Paul and Teago should be up there personally. I think Paul is also a good choice. Daily, yeah. Daily's fighting cost check though. Coming up in May or something, I think. So those guys are still in the game. But yeah, I guess hey, you need somebody right now. Fitch is a solid choice. He bores me, but he's a worthy fighter. That being said, I mean, GSP is obviously, there's going to be a couple of months before it fights next. So there's times when guys get overwhelming knockoff victories, they can move themselves up the card. Yeah. As Frank Mirren, King of Oz gets approved. Oh, it was daily knockoff cost check. That guy is on the, you know, he's on the fast track. Daily will be-- He's on the Jesus position. Yeah. So keep an eye on that one, but it's not the main focus. To me, the two main focuses. First, let's start with interim heavyweight championship. Frank Mirren versus Shane Carwin. Now, this was originally supposed to be Carwin versus Lesnar. Lesnar's obviously been struggling with health issues. Frank Mirren was originally non-contention, but after his overwhelming knockoff of Congo, and he's extremely vociferous feud with Lesnar, they've moved him into contention. The winner of this will receive the interim heavyweight championship and the right to face Bob Lesnar as soon as he returns. Like Leiden July. Like Leiden July. What do you think? This is tough. And you know what? Every time I count, like whenever I count Mirren out, he kind of, he does well. But yeah, I just see him getting knocked out. Carwin is a monster. Mir always trains his butt off. Mir is always ready for the fight. So I'm not going to count him out, but I'm still going to call Carwin. One thing I will say with Mir, I think he overlooked an underestimated Brock Lesnar. I think he said in his first fight, "I've lost. I've beat this guy before. I'm not going to have an issue with him." And he went into the second fight, not realizing how angry Lesnar was going to be. Since then, Mirren has had a completely different strategy. He has bulked up. He has gained weight. He has put on muscle. He's basically made himself a monster to take on the two top monsters. And he's like a comic book character now. Like he's come back in a bigger body. So, I mean, he's definitely improved his game to try to take on a guy like Shane Carwin. With that being said, Shane Carwin is huge. He's cutting from 295 pounds to make weight. He is 6'5". He can, he gives him Lesnar. He can wind up. He can wind up from three inches from your face and still knock you out. It's funny, not very many people have seen relatively seen Carwin fight because he hasn't had that many televised UFC fights, but every fight is so short and so dominating. I mean, you can't count this guy out. Carwin is so powerful, he can knock you up with a slap. Yeah, exactly. He's a beast. And with Mir bragging about his improved standup, I think if he wants to exchange with Carwin, Carwin's going to annihilate him. Mir's a complete idiot if he's going to exchange with Carwin. I think Mir's game plan has to be on me to take this guy to the ground and try to use my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has to beat him like he beat Lesnar in the first time. With that being said, Carwin trains with Kotur. He has incredible wrestling. In a lot of ways, he's even better at defensive wrestling than Lesnar is. I think if Mir takes the fight to the ground, Parwin's just going to posture up and pound him out. I call Carwin to win this fight and become the interim heavyweight champion of the world. Yeah, I agree. I'm calling Carwin as well. Although, as I said, I mean, I called Mir or I called Kongo over Mir and he surprised me. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Mir won, but I do think that Carwin is about to edge here. He's just, he's on incredible tear at the moment. And I think that he's got the ability, the tools to meet Mir, who's already proven that he can't handle a heat wrestler and Lesnar. So then we go forward to our favorite fight, the UFC welterweight title belt, GSP, George St. Pierre, our Canadian hero versus Dan, the outlaw party. So GSP is known for being incredibly well-rounded. He has beautiful karate and kickboxing, but he's made himself one of the best wrestlers in the game. He can beat you with absolutely, he's got a full toolbox. The guy can beat you with anything. He's going to ask him if you said, okay, pick a style out of the hat and then fight it. And you can only fight that style. He would win. The guy is incredible. He's the true mixed martial artist. Yeah. Now Dan Hardy, he's known as a tough brawler. He's got a good chain. He's got a lot of heart. Strongest knocks. He's strong, he's an ox. He's got some good fists. Do you think he's got the ability to beat George St. Pierre? No, I agree, absolutely not. He's looked convincing in the fights he's had so far, but he's not ready yet. I don't even know if he'll ever be ready for GSP. No, very few can be ready for GSP. This isn't an octagon. It's hardy at all. We're not knocking hard. I'm a hardy fan, but he's going to get destroyed. Yeah, it may take the whole fight, but yeah, he's not going to dominate this fight at all. GSP will slowly dissect him. I think this is just going to be-- GSP is going to just overwhelm him throughout the fight. Even like, we said the last show that Matt Serra came in to train Dan Hardy and help him out and give him some help. Matt Serra even said in his prediction that GSP is going to win. This is a guy who helped train Dan Hardy, and he's saying GSP's going to win. When your own trainers are saying, yeah, my guy doesn't have a chance. He has a champion. Like, this is damage control. That's cool. Yeah. So, I mean, it doesn't look like Hardy's got much of a chance. He is a puncher. He's got the puncher's chance. If he lands a lucky shot on GSP's chin, anything can happen. With that being said, I am calling GSP to win. I think he's going to use his incredible wrestling to take the fight to the ground. I think he's going to slow down Hardy's offense, not let him keep control of the fight and wear him down over five rounds. I call GSP by decision. And remember, Hardy hasn't gone five rounds before. Exactly. So, it's very possible that Hardy will have good strength, and he might even win the first round. He might have great strength. Use his strength, ward off the wrestling. But it's going to come back to him. He's going to fatigue by the third round. He'll be gassed. And GSP does five rounds all the time. I think he fights gauntlets in his training. He'll set up, OK, Nate Markwork, Kenny Florian, and, you know, three other guys. And I'll just fight you all at once. That's his training, you know. So, really, Hardy's way unmatched on this. I totally agree. So, look forward to seeing the show on Saturday. We will probably be doing a quick little post game of that that we'll throw up.
