[music] Welcome to Hammer Live at 93.3 CFME. Thank you for joining us. I am as always your host Dave, joined by... Wednesday night, Greg. How's it going? And Steve. What did you say, Dave? I think I might say Thursday. Okay, we were on Thursday for a while. We're all confused here. So we're back on Wednesdays. Thank you for tuning in and joining us. And we have some news to start the show. So Steve's going to walk us through that. And then we're going to the preview of the upcoming UFC card. So Steve, let's start with the news. Alright, so there's kind of big news this week. And there are spoiler warnings. So anyone out there who doesn't want to find out a couple of things that might happen on the Ultimate Fighter this season should really turn this off. But like my ears? No, but you know what? It's important. It's important news. It's potential spoiler warning though. In June 12th in Vancouver, the main event is supposed to be Chuck Liddell versus T2RTs. Yep. The coaches of the Ultimate Fighter, the season that starts next week. Right. Well, it looks like they're advertising Rich Franklin versus Chuck Liddell. Interesting. Well, I mean, it doesn't really surprise me. I guess Tito pulled out or something. Well actually there was a little post on James James' Twitter about Tito being in the hospital and how he hoped he would pull through and how being in the hospital sucks. But it's better when you have your friends and family with you. And your porn star girlfriend? Porn star wife. Just the mother of those two children is twin boys. Well, there are a lot of rumors out there. One that he was injured or he was hospitalized. Also that he quit the show, that he had issues with Dana. Really no one really knows what's going on. But the season of the Ultimate Fighter will end in early June. They've got this card and it's only logical that they have this fight. That they have Liddell versus Ortiz. Yeah. And to be advertising Franklin versus Liddell, something's going to happen. That's not a huge, I mean it has nothing to do with the contestant. Oh no. So it is kind of a spoiler. But actually I'm happy to hear that. And here's the thing, you don't know if it's going to happen at the beginning of the season, middle of the season, end of season, or even not at all. So maybe he might have not gotten the show at all. The other thing I keep in mind is that this show has already been taped at this point. Yeah. The show's over. So I mean, you know, Tito's how does issues with Dana dance, how does it issue with Tito? How are Dana being Dana, I think that it was an issue between the two of them. We've heard it from Dana by now. That's true. And the other thing is with Jenna recently posting that little clip about him being hospitalized, I would imagine he probably has another fake skull fracture or something else. Well, I've got some Twitter stuff here. Dana was all over Twitter the other day saying that there's nothing to these rumors. Everything's great between him and Tito and that the match he wants to see and he's trying to put together is Rich Franklin versus Randy Kocher. Which we've actually said before. Yeah, we'd like to see. But Tito's Twitter, Tito has said, if things couldn't get worse, they just did. I want to thank all my fans for your support. I guess business is business. Interesting. Something's going down, guys. Yeah. And I don't know what it is. No one seems to know, but... Well, Dana's of our lives continues. I maintain that, you know, with everything being said and done. The show's already taped, so at this point there's nothing that can be happening in the real world that's going to affect the tape show. Right. So it's just a question of when they do the fight. And I mean, we knew halfway through last season that Rampage and Rashad were going to be fighting, you know, for some time after that. Yeah. And it didn't stop any of the interest in it. So do you think that if it comes out that it is going to be Rich Franklin versus Chuck Liddell, that that will lower interest in the season or it really doesn't matter? I think so, because first of all, we don't have the Kimbo factor. Because a lot of people turn into watch Kimbo and they're reading "Stopped Up Sharply" after Kimbo was no longer a factor in the show. Very true. And also, Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz are not as interesting, I think, as Rashad and Rampage. Because first of all, Rashad and Rampage are two very big characters. And second of all, I think they're a lot more interesting to modern MMA fans. Like Chuck Liddell and Tito aren't really as relevant anymore, just because they're not really in title contention and haven't been for years. I agree with the title contention thing, but Tito's a pretty big character. I mean, that guy, that Tito Shamrock season was something else. Like watching those two go at it was pretty interesting. But it can be also both been on the Ultimate Fighter before. Yeah, that's true. So, I mean, I don't think it can be as much interested in this, just because it's not as fresh, if that makes sense. Well, yeah, I mean, the fact that both of them are probably not big title contenders, it's definitely something to do with it. I mean, I think it's for the middleweights without any big names in the season. I think the fact that Liddell and Tito aren't fighting now, apparently. Possibly not fighting. I think that might detract from the season just because the season is a lot about coaches challenge, coach versus coach. I mean, Liddell and Ortiz might go at it on the season and argue a little bit. And that always creates a little bit of interest, so not having them fight, that does kind of suck. I mean, I know when I knew that Rashad and Rampage weren't fighting, that really took the wind out of me for that season because they were great going at each other. Well, this is why I briefly debated not even mentioning this story because, you know, because I didn't really want to ruin it for anybody that the fight may not be taking place. We bring people the news. Yeah, that's right. That's true. And also because it's still just a strong rumor. But, you know, in the end, if they're going to book Franklin versus Liddell for a date, everyone's going to know that sooner or later. People are going to know that before the season ends. I actually like that fight better, too. I'd rather see Franklin Liddell than Ortiz Liddell personally. Yeah, you know what, Tito really doesn't mean anything anymore. No, so Franklin's not really doing much anyway, but Franklin is still a respectable, legitimate fighter who just had a bad run. And seeing him get back, it's sort of like a little bit of a pseudo comeback for him, too, and it's a comeback for Liddell. So seeing these two go at it, I think would be really, really interesting. How lame would it be if Tito just couldn't get along with Dana and left? I almost hope it's an injury or something. It would be Tito. Yeah, that's all I got to say about that. And also, the UFC Countdown Special is going on to build up to the March 27th show. They've got, the main event is GSP versus Dan Hardy. And UFC is doing something they've all went down once before for GSP versus BJ Penn, a three-part series weekly building up this fight. One hour every Wednesday, I believe, for three weeks, which would be a three-hour hype special to build up this fight. After the first one just aired, so I guess it would have been just less than a week ago. Yep. And it was okay. GSP was GSP Matt... Dan Hardy. Dan Hardy. Not Hardy. They get arrested. All right. So Dan Hardy really wasn't trash-talking so far as much as I expected him to, probably because he just respects GSP. I don't think you can trash-talking GSP. I mean, that's Sarah Tried, but it's hard to trash-talking GSP. It's hard to trash-talking GSP. It's also hard to trash-talking when you pretty much know what's going in. Well, the thing is, though, the UFC is counting on Hardy to hype up this fight. And so, I guess so far, well, we're only one episode in, so I don't know. But the big hype at the end of this one hour special, the first third, was Hardy brings out... the guy who's replacing the coach he just got rid of. And his new coach, Matt Sarah. Nice. Oh, of course. You knew Sarah was going to have something to do with this. And for those who don't remember, the reason this is a big deal is because Matt Sarah has beaten GSP. And this is, you know, Hardy's calling in, you know, the big guns. Apparently, Hardy thinks that you can teach luck. Exactly. I don't know. That's exactly why this is an interesting story. Well, I think with Sarah, though, Sarah's a hard hitter. Of course she's a hard hitter, yeah. I mean, as Sarah himself says, he's like Gimli from War of the Rings. So, I mean, Dan Hardy has the same kind of knock-off power. And I think a lot of ways he's also a better chin than Sarah is. He does, totally. So... He's rock-heart. I mean, he's really tough. If he can take a couple of good shots from GSP and land a lucky shot, that's probably his only way of winning the fight. Oh, it is his only way of winning the fight. Because he's definitely not going to out-wrestle or submit your speed. No, absolutely not. With that being said, I still think GSP is going to do what GSP does and take the fight to the ground. Yep. He'll dissect. So, do you guys think Matt Sarah's involvement helps out at all? I think that it's the only way you can go. Like, if you're Dan Hardy, you need something. You need Matt Sarah. You need Mike Tyson. You need some kind of bot to go. We need the Lord Jesus. That's going to say, this is how you knock this guy out. I mean, that's the strategy that you would have to use against GSP. You have to knock the guy out. You cannot take the fight to the ground. So, I mean, good strategy. I guess, like, it's the best you can do. Unless he gets Frank Mira, a genius striker, to come and teach him. I really hope, like, I mean, I love GSP. I'm pretty sure he's going to win, but I really hope that this is a fight that takes a while. And as a real grind, not a grind session, but a dust up. Like, I'd like to see a competitive fight. Like, these guys go out for four or five rounds. Yeah. I think that would be great. As opposed to another, you know, toggle alves where -- Well, that was -- that went all five rounds, but it was born. It was really born. It was -- I don't know. It was fun watching GSP dissecting it. Yes. It was like watching a master in action. Yeah. But for somebody who -- like, for a GSP fan, it's going to be fun. But for somebody who is indifferent to these fighters, it would have looked like a boring fight. But that's the exact same kind of strategy that Rashad Evans took against Taro Silva. That's the Greg Jackson-Jim strategy. Yeah. If you're facing a good striker, use your wrestling. Get the fight right about where he can't strike you. Yeah. Yeah. I think that against a guy with a tough chin, who's a good striker, GSP is going to kick him a little bit to see if there's any cracks and if there's not, he's going to be like, "Okay, what blanket title?" I'm just going to get to get the ground and the smother they do. Yeah, basically. So -- so the big story we talked about last week was Strike Force running their show on April 17th. And then UFC deciding to counter with a free TV show to go against it. And then Strike Force being unsure whether they should run their show regardless of the UFC competition or move it one week up to which would be competing against the WBC pay-per-view. And in the end, it looks like Strike Force is going for April 17th. So against the free UFC show. Okay. Which is better for us, I think. Yeah. And better for the WBC because -- Oh, yeah. Well, it definitely helps the WBC and I think Strike Force is gambling on. We've got more names than UFC can grab on short notice. And they're on CBS, which will be on a bigger, wider stage. Yeah, for sure. More people will watch the Strike Force show. But again, as the big thing that we talked about last week was that this is the last show on Strike Force's CBS deal. So if it doesn't do a really good rating, there might not be any more. However, with that being said, if it does a better rating than UFC. No, no. It won't do a better rating than UFC. It's impossible. It's in a fraction of the -- UFC's in a fraction of the homes. Yeah. So will not -- Strike Force will do a better rating already. No matter what happens, it will. Yeah. It gets so -- So maybe that's the way you're saying, like, hit -- Put the emergency broadcast system off for now. But if it does better than UFC, but it does half of the drama that is usually on on Saturday night, that's not going to matter. So what UFC's hoping to do is take enough of a chunk out of them that CBS gives up on them. Yeah. Which would cripple them almost, and they wouldn't be able to do that. It would hurt. It would hurt. So it would be a mortal wound, I think. Yeah. So this is turning into a very interesting three-company war, even though two of the promotions are owned by -- By UFC. But, yeah, these promotions are going to war. UFC, Strike Force, and WBC, this is becoming a big deal. And that's good, because that's when you get the best talent and your organization's putting their best feet forward. The fighters are making more money, which is good. The guys who deserve it. I mean, everyone wins when you have something like this. Except when there's two shows you want to lose it. Oh, until someone loses, or until there's two shows you want to watch on the same night you can't. So record it, yeah. Really? I mean, having two shows you want to watch on the same night, if you're that much of a fan, you'll just record it. That's true. Plus of all the technology where you can watch delayed things. I mean, it's not like when we were kids and you got to put the VCR on and set the VCR. It's like with the satellite, it's you can do delays and all that stuff. And all that technology. Exactly. Pacific time's on. Yeah. And something's going down between Strike Force and M1, the promotion who owns Fedor's contract. And yeah, they are not coming to an agreement over money and promotion of the M1 brand and all sorts of stuff like that. So we don't really know when Fedor is going to be fighting for Strike Force again. Well, M1 has had those kind of issues before with pretty much every promoter that I worked with. That's what they're doing. They took a chunk of Strike Force's soul. And now Strike Force is saying, "Hey, you don't have Mosassie for us anymore. All you really have is Fedor and Fedor's brother, Alexander Lemenko. You know, why are we giving you half of our business more?" No, actually, you would think that that makes logical sense. No, the issue is M1. They don't think Strike Force is promoting the M1 brand strongly enough. Yeah, the problem is coming from the other side. Yeah, they're already co-promoting the events. But they're like, "How come the commercials don't ram M1 down our throat, down everybody's throats?" They don't even have a problem with Strike Force as a whole. They just don't think that they're getting enough out of this deal, which is ridiculous to me. Yeah, it is. Considering in the opposite-- They are justified somewhere. Basically, I mean, all they're bringing to the table right now is Fedor, right? And his brother. So, who nobody really knows. Really, this is people getting greedy for respect and money. And in the end, it's just costing us Fedor. Fedor fights. And it's going to wind up costing Strike Force big time. Well, I think someone's got to stand up and say, "Hey, you know what, Fedor, if you're going to be a fighter, you've got to fight." I agree. And these M1 guys, if they want to run a promotion, let them run their own promotion. Yeah, they take care of Fedor. They really do. But you know what? I mean, he needs to fight. And Strike Force, how much better position would they be in if they had Fedor fighting this weekend? Or not because we can April 17th? It wouldn't even be a contest. The night they needed it. It wouldn't even be a contest. If they had Fedor on that card, they would-- they're already going to win in ratings, but they would destroy it. It would be massive destruction on the part of Strike Force if they had Fedor on that card. I mean, I was surprised that Fedor wasn't on the card, but then, you know, hearing all this news, it sort of explains that. And actually, the ratings for the last-- the ratings for the last time Fedor fought were good, but not as good as the Gina Chrono and Kimbo. The Kimbo shows that they ran on CBS before, but still good enough that it could keep the company going. Yeah, I mean, the thing is with Chrono and Kimbo, I mean, you had so much mainstream attention. Fedor is, at the time, wasn't as promoted and wasn't as, you know, he was just-- it was his first North American major fight, wasn't it? On North American TV. So, I mean, you're putting that up against the YouTube sensation that everyone's seen and one of the prettiest girls in North America. But he did build up-- regardless of how well that his last fight did on CBS, it built up some momentum. And they should be keeping this momentum going, and they're not so-- I don't know if Strike Force needs to get-- it's not their fault. Strike Force is doing everything right to me. Yeah. But if they don't get some luck or something happening, I'd hate to see them disappear off TV. Well, you always need some luck, right? I mean, if you don't have luck, you're not going to be successful. It's going to be really interesting to say I'd say six weeks. Yeah, I guess. That should be really interesting six weeks to find out where Strike Force is at at that point. Yeah. And Dominic Cruz, the newly crowned WBC Bantamweight Champion, his right hand will be in the cast for seven more weeks. I didn't even know his hand was in such a bad shape. That fight destroyed everybody's hand. Oh, yeah, well, Bull's, Brian Bull's, his hand was wrecked. And so he's going to be in the cast for a while, and he also sustained minor foot injuries. So I-- it's not really sure when he's going to be able to defend his title again, but-- That's a real shame. If the timing works out correctly, they have decided WBC has decided that they want it to be against Joseph Benipides. Okay. But if the timing doesn't work out, Benipides has to fight, doesn't work out. Yeah. Then it's got to-- Scott Jorgensen will be the next choice. See, if his hand's broken and Bull's hand's broken, you'd think that, you know, they would both be back ready at the same time to do a rematch. Well, it makes no sense to be in a broken as much as in a cast. That could be-- That's true, yeah. I'm not called dislocated. Yeah. That doesn't mean-- like, there's different degrees of break. Yeah. So it looks like there's two or three guys that can get that next title shot, but it won't be for a while. Benipides, for sure, if it's not going to be Bull's. If it's not going to be Bull's. But I haven't heard anything about Bull's, so I don't know. Maybe they're going to make him win one before he gets another shot. I don't agree with that, but anyway, they'll do what they do. Yeah. And that's it for the news. So we've got the UFC-- On versus card coming up. Now, versus is a network. It's a cable network in the States. And they're the ones who run WBC, the promotion. And this is going to be UFC's first show on versus. It's called UFC on versus one. I still don't know if we're going to be able to watch it in Canada, but I want to see this card. It's going to depend on your satellite hookup. Yeah. So UFC on versus Dave what we've got coming. So we've got this-- Interesting little card here. This is one that there's been a lot of jockeying for position on this card with, you know, Kim Inns, Spencer Fisher, and John Howard originally on the card, but not able to do it. Sean Schuric as well. But we have from the preliminary card, Eric Schaeffer fighting Jason Brits at the light heavyweight. We have Mike Pierce versus Julia Opalino and Multerweight. We have John Howard versus Daniel Roberts and Walter Waite. Dwayne Ludwig versus Darren Elkins at Lightweight. Elliot Marshall versus Vladimir Matt Ushanko at Light Heavyweight. Marshall is a tough alum. He's a tough alum, but Matt Ushanko is actually a pretty good striker with some good combo as well. So I think that's going to be a fairly good fight if it makes TV, which obviously not necessarily going to happen. Then also on the preliminary card, Clay Guida versus Shannon Googerty. Yeah, this bothers me. Now, Clay Guida's been on a bit of a losing streak. So he was formerly a main card guy who's been going down to the prelim card, but he has some really, really entertaining fights, including a fight of the year against Diego Sanchez. That'll make TV though, I think. I think they'll find a way to get that on there. If they have time. But this almost seems like they're sending a message to him. But from what I heard recently was, this is more because UFC doesn't believe that Googerty is a big enough name to be on the main card. But you know what? Guida's so much fun to fight. If you want to put your best foot forward doing a show on a new network, Clay Guida should be the first guy you think about it. I mean, I don't want to call Googerty a job or because he's far from it. He's not. But I think that this is a fight given to Guida in the hopes that Guida will win. And again, my thing with both of these guys, Googerty isn't a big name. He's actually quite a small name. And Guida is wildly inconsistent, keeping in mind that the fights he's best known for are fights that he's lost. Including the Diego Sanchez fight, which as entertaining as it was, he was shellocked in that fight. He wasn't just losing. He was nowhere close to win. I don't know about that. Did you really think he was going to be Diego Sanchez at any point in that fight? No, but I thought that he never looked out of it. He never looked out of it. He could have knocked him out whenever he was in the time. He never looked out class ever during the fight. It was one of those things where Diego Sanchez is winning the striking battles and getting more shots in. But it didn't ever look like Sanchez was going to finish him. He never stopped fighting. Yeah, Guida's strategy is a lot of wild swings. Oh, yeah. And Diego's strategy is a lot of punches to the face. I mean, the first round of that fight was Diego Sanchez winning uppercut after uppercut after uppercut. I'm surprised that Guida didn't die in the ring. He was still taking him down, though. Yeah, he was. Like, I never thought, even though, you know, Diego handedly won that fight, I don't think Guida ever looked out of that fight at all. He had to take down. He was striking. He was able to get against K-flow. K-flow. That was a bit of a different story. I think, well, Florian, I mean, yeah, Florian really dissected him, but that's Florian style. I mean, that's sort of, I think personally, I think Florian's better than Diego Sanchez. I agree. And that was displayed. But with that being said, you know, Guida, unfortunately, he's not, you know, with him being so wild and so inconsistent, you have to figure there's no way he's taking BJ Pan. No, he's not a title contender. I mean, I don't think he can, he's proven he can't be, can he Florian or Diego Sanchez to honestly think he could. I think that Guida himself isn't such a name and isn't such a powerhouse contender that he can hold a main card spot by himself. He can hold it if he's fighting someone else. But, I mean, in this particular case, with him fighting someone who's not a big name, I'm sorry, but you're on the preliminary card so you can start winning some fights. Yeah, like maybe he can't come off three fights in a row and expect a main card spot. Yeah, like him against Sauteropoulos, that makes a main card for me. Him against Joe Daddy, that makes a main card. I agree now. And again, I maintain that guy is on a losing streak. As entertaining as he is to watch and fight until I can watch and fight and win. What do you want me to say? But the Keith Jardine keeps losing, he stays on the main card. Keith Jardine's, well, that's arguable because we haven't seen where he is in the next upcoming card. Also, Keith Jardine is in a division where he's always facing guys that are trying to get pushed and he's always facing moderate to big names because he's a gatekeeper. So, I mean, I don't think Keith Jardine has fought someone as low profile as Shannon Googerty. That's true, you know. And again, as you guys said, if the fight turns out to be really good and there's time, I mean, they will air it. Yeah, if it was Keith Jardine versus Eric Shafer, then they'll make the main card. Yeah, that's the truth. So what else do we have on the main card? Actually, one more fight on the preliminary card that's very interesting. Brandon Schwab versus Chase Gormly. Now, Schwab was a finalist and almost the winner of the last season of the Ultimate Fighter. We lost two. He was a favorite of ours going in and he has a lot of tools. I think he's got a bright future, but he lost an announcement. If he loses to Gormly, he will probably be fired. Yeah, I agree. So this is a do or die time for Schwab. If he's got it, he's got to prove it with an impressive win for Gormly. Not just a win, an impressive win. I think Schwab definitely has the tools. I think all he needs is a little bit higher octagon IQ and then he'll be a force for sure. I'm glad to see him get another shot. Yeah, he deserves it. What do you think of him fighting Chase Gormly? I think this fight he can win. Oh, yeah. I think he's a good striker. He seems like a solid guy. We haven't seen him against any real top competition at all, but he seems like a guy that can win a fight. Okay, so we're looking forward to Schwab and seeing if he actually has what it takes to make it in the heavyweight division. So then we go forward to the main card. We start with Alessio Secara versus James Ervin. This is going to be a fight in the middleweight bout. Now, Alessio Secara has been a contender in the past. He's coming back after a little bit of time off. But if he puts all together a win against Ervin, he is a middleweight guy who might have it in him to go up the card. So keep an eye on him. Then we go to the heavyweights where we have Chec Congo versus Paul Bonatello. Now, Chec just came off that loss against Frank Mier. So he needs to redeem himself. This could be do or die for Chec, I think. This could be do or die for Chec. I don't think he'd be released if he lost his fight. I think it'll stall his career even more. But I mean, he's still-- His career is right now, I'd say, it's stalled. If he loses his fight, he's-- If he loses his fight-- No, he's undercarded. But he's not fired. I don't think so. Okay. I'd be willing to get behind that. I think he'll get on a key turning status. Yeah. I think that-- I think he's already there. I think he's already there, I was about to say that. Also, I don't see him losing this fight. I think that he will win this fight. I've always liked Chec Congo. I mean, he has been one-dimensional. But I've always thought he was an entertaining fighter. I think he took Frank Mier too lightly. I really do. I think he assumed that Frank Mier had no striking game whatsoever. He got clung and that was a huge mistake. So hopefully, I'd like to see him win this fight. I think he's got-- I like him better than Vintello. So, it should be some hard hitting. It should be a hard hitting fight. Yeah, it should be a very entertaining game. Well, there's a hard hitting guy. With that being said, Chec Congo is a very well-developed striker. I have to call Congo to win this fight, but I think it's going to be by decision, because Volonetello is enough of a rock to take some good shots. Yeah. I agree. I'm going with Congo as well, although I think he's going to finish him. You think it's not good? Yeah. Okay. So then we go forward to Junior DeSantos versus Gabriel Gonzaga. I want to see this. Oh, man. I've been wanting to see this since we started this show. This was originally supposed to be on the-- You have seen one away. The Curse of the January 2nd card. Yeah. So the Curse of January 2nd card, everyone wanted to see this fight. Junior DeSantos is one of the men of Destiny in the Heavyweight Division. He probably deserves a title shot in the next two or three years. Oh, I'd say if he wins next year. If he wins a few more fights, title contender. Yeah. With that being said, it didn't come together for him like it did for Kane Velasquez with his opponents getting injured and being out of it. Mm-hmm. He hasn't had the momentum. That's right. Gabriel Gonzaga is a former contender who had a devastating knock out over Crowe Cop, one of the most beautiful knock outs of all time. If Junior DeSantos can pull apart Gabriel Gonzaga, I think he becomes, I would say, honestly, the fifth hand in the Heavyweight Division. Yeah, I just say though, I kind of already see him as the fifth or sixth guy. I think you do this. You move him up. You move him up past Nogera. You move him up past the loser of Muir. I think if he wins this, you give him Nogera. No. I don't agree with that. I don't think he'd fight each other either. I don't agree with it. Those guys are boys. Yeah. They're in the same table. Yeah. I think if he wins this, he's going to have to obviously get another fight before he gets a title shot. I think he would be good against the loser of Muir car one definitely. That makes a lot of sense. Yeah. I'd have to say that. With that being said though, the loser of Muir car one might have to face Kane Velasquez. Good point. Yeah. See, I think Kane Velasquez is already on the way to the title shot. I think that, I think he, I don't think he has to prove anything more. I think he's ready. I don't think he would give him the loser. I think he would give Junior the loser. If he wins, Gonzaga the loser if he wins. I think the Junior and Gonzaga are on parallel trajectories right now. Gonzaga hasn't fought in a while, but I think they're both at that same level, which is why this is a wonderful, a wonderful fight. Like it's a fight that's really going to get one of these guys over and ready. So I think they give the loser of Muir car one to the winner of this fight. So with that being said, Gonzaga has beautiful submission game, one of the best ground technicians in the heavyweight division. I think in a lot of ways better on the ground than Muir. Yeah. The crazy striker. Yeah. Junior Santos, not as good on the ground, but a very, very good technical wrestle. One of the best boxers in heavyweight division, trains his boxing with Nogara, incredible boxer. What do you call for this fight? Junior. Junior, you thinking knockout or decision? Don't know. So someone's getting knocked out in this fight and I'm going to go Junior because he's got momentum on his side. I don't see this guy losing for a while. I see I'm calling Junior by knockout as well. I don't see him losing for a while again. So myself, I think he's better than Gonzaga is. I think the only guy that's really got the same kind of level of momentum and ferocity on his side is Cain Velasquez and that's the dream fight for me right now. And with that being said, the final fight, the main event on this card, my favorite fighter, Brandon Vera versus Greg's favorite fighter, John Bones Jones. Now I love Jones. He's a great wrestler with some really, really exotic striking, a lot of spinning back kicks, a lot of spinning elbows, incredibly fun to watch. Superlaxes, some great throws, some really good wrestling. Now Brandon Vera is also an incredibly well-rounded striker. He's been shown a little bit of caution, but his wife has trained him well in my time. Kerry Vera has tied him a lot about how to use his knees and elbows. So what do you think? Brandon Vera, John Jones. You know what? I'm going to say, obviously I'm calling Jones, but I would not be surprised if he lost because I think this is a pretty even fight. This is going to be a great fight. I can't wait to see this. I don't see it as it's going to be a domination. But that being said, I'm still going to call, I'm still going to call Bones. Definitely calling Bones. Bones is his last fight. He was de-cued for those elbows, right? Yeah, but he won that fight. I'm sorry. He won that fight. I mean Matt Hamill's not a superstar, but he destroyed a wrestler at wrestling and then not going to the first ring death that they didn't stop that thing, man. He beat Matt Hamill at his own game, and then he crushed him with his game. It was incredible. There's no way Bones is going to win this fight. With that being said, and I do respect that, Jones is an incredibly good wrestler, but Vera has shown himself to have a tough chin and does some good counter wrestling, including having reasonably good counter wrestling against Kotur. I think after that loss with Kotur, I think if you have to go back to your camp and say training counter wrestling, I don't want to work on anything but counter wrestling for the next six months. Oh, I don't think it's going to be like a one-minute slaughter or anything. Vera's not bad. Vera's pretty good, but you know what? I was watching that countdown special, hyping this fight up, and I heard Vera say exactly what I've seen. Vera say the last four times he's had to fight. Okay, last time didn't quite work out as well as I wanted to. I guess I'm just going to have to train harder. I think Brendan Vera's that guy who's always going to have to train harder and just won't get it done from this point forward. And I'm still wondering how you train for Bones. How do you train for the guy? He's all over the place. He's got such an exotic style, it is difficult to counter. Like I mean, he is in the top what three most exciting fighters to watch in the UFC? Oh, easily. Easily. I mean, watching him fight is incredibly, he's so exciting. I mean, and I love the fact that he's finally getting a test, and if he wins this, get him on a pay-per-view main card. Absolutely. Please get him on a pay-per-view main card. I think that's the test here. Jones is just below being on a pay-per-view main card. Brendan Vera has just gotten knocked out of being on a pay-per-view main card. I think this is a fight to see who is got some destiny in the light headway division. So as much as I love Brendan Vera, I do have to agree with you. I think Jones is going to win this. I'm calling Jones by TKO. I think this is second or third round. I think he's going to out wrestle Brendan Vera, take the fight down and pound him out. Yep. That's what all the time we have for the hammers this weekend. So thank you for joining us.
