I Want You To Be Forever Strong On The Field, So That You Can Be Forever Strong Off The Field
The Hard 90 With Zach Sorensen
I Want You To Be Forever Strong On The Field
Welcome to the hard 90 podcast. I am your coach, Zach Sorensen helping you to prepare, compete and progress in the mental game. I want you to be forever strong on the field so that you can be forever strong off the field. I love this line because I think it sums up so much of what's going on here. I think it's important for us all to understand that we love playing the sports that we play and sports make up a good part of our life. They really do, especially when you're young, you're in the grind, whether it be high school, college, professional sports, whatever it may be. That is what we do and we do it a lot. We spend a lot of time practicing, a lot of time watching, a lot of time playing, a lot of time visualizing, a lot of time dreaming, whatever it may be. Sports are what we do, but sports aren't who we are. Okay, baseball is what I do, but baseball is not who I am. Okay, and that's such an important thing for you to understand. That's why I think it's so important as we go through these train programs that we do with our athletes. We help them create this MVP process, this mission, vision and principles of who they want to be as a person and as an individual because you know the results that you have or the career you have in your game or your sport, it's not going to last forever. I learned that as a player. I played the game of baseball. It's all I wanted to do in life. It's all I wanted to be was a professional player and I had the chance to play for a long time and then it ended and the game was gone. And at that point, I needed to fall back on who I wanted to be as a person. Okay. And I think that's what's so cool about this statement. The coach Gail looks, throws out to his players. He says, I want you to be forever strong on the field so you can be forever strong off the field. Many of the lessons that you are going to learn in sport, in school, in education, in becoming a musician, in dance, whatever it may be, the lessons that you learn in a lot of these scenarios and situations that you get put in your life, they help shape you to become the person that you can be on and off the field. All right. I love giving my children the opportunity to play sports. One of the main reasons why I wanted my son to play sports for so long is because the lessons that he's going to learn while playing those sports, they're going to help give him a strong foundation on the person he's going to be when he gets older. Okay. It's going to help shape him to be a better father. It's going to help shape him to be a better husband. It's going to help shape him to be a better friend. It's going to help him with his studies in his schoolwork and his career and whatever else you want to say. But the lessons you learn on the field will give you a base in a foundation for who you can become off the field. And I think coaches who have that perspective coaches that coach based on that perspective with that vision in mind are the ones that we want to be around coaching our children. The impact they can have as a coach with our child is is unbelievable and unmeasurable and sometimes not even appreciated as much as it really should be. So I want you to take a pause for a second. I want you to think about are the lessons that you are teaching to your children as a as a coach. The lessons that you want them to use not only on the field, but also off of the field. All right. So what are those things that look like? You know, there's certain different scenarios that you can manage and you control in life. Some of them training, nutrition, sleep, recovery, mindset, but even more than that is what kind of teammate are they being? What kind of person are they being on the field? Okay. It's not just about how many hits they get. It's not just about how many interceptions that they they get as a defensive back. Okay. It's not how many touchdowns they throw as a quarterback. It's the type of person that they they can become the type of individual they can they can they can be around their teammates the type of teammate they can be whether or not they got their teammates back or whatever it may be. There are so many scenarios in this movie about being a good teammate. I love it. I love who it is. I love how they always have each other's backs. I love how they're focused on service and different types of scenarios. So if you need some ideas as coaches on on how you can kind of create this culture where it's more about the type of people that you're building, the type of champion men and women that you are building in your program, either reach out and watch this movie or reach out to us because that's who that's what we're all about. We want to we want all of our athletes to be forever strong on the field so that they can be forever strong off the field.
