It lets you make and share your lists with others for Christmas or any other gift giving celebrations. When you set it up, and send it to others, you don't get to see if those others buy your gifts. That way you can be surprised. You can join others' lists. And when you look at the list of gifts that they have on their lists, the gifts can be marked as reserved or bought, so you don't duplicate them. It's kind of like a gift registry. You can add any gifts from just about any store in the world. Mark your gift list as private, shared, or public for anyone to see and buy from. Invite others to your list through text or email.
