Hello Blues fans, and welcome to the first match preview of 2025. We are preparing to face Stockport Edgley Park for the first time since 2001, and it's the second time we've played them this month as well, because we beat them to Neil at St Andrews without me making both the goals on that day, and it's been a very relentless Christmas/new year schedule for Birmingham because it's our 5th game in 13 days, and also our 30th game of the season, so a very relentless schedule, hence why there's probably a few changes for that Blackpool game, where our 8-match winning run did come to an end because we drew Neil Neil with Steve Bruce's Blackpool, and it was a pretty even game, so honestly a point was probably a fair result, but going into this Stockport game, it's a great opportunity to bounce back, and ahead of the game we spoke to Russ from the Skarpagara War podcast, to get the load down on what their season has been like so far, what they've been up to since our last crash with them, and their prediction for the end of the season too. So yeah, two wins, two losses in a draw, since we last spoke, and since we played Birmingham, bigger picture is that generally feeling okay, because of the seven-year plan to get to the championship, of course, which we've got three more years to do. There's a few of the fans that want that early, want to get there now, but I think the quality's lead you started to shine through, and we're definitely not. We're not automatic promotion contenders, I don't think that's my personal opinion. The form at the moment is a bit sketchy, but that said, the performances and the stats that we've got do show that we are slightly better than the teams we're playing, with the exception of yourselves, and possibly one or two others, but everybody else up there will just feel the way, for example, stats-wise, performance-wise, we were better than them. We just didn't quite make it over the line. Holding Bailey yet scored just before Christmas. It was a bit of a tapping by all accounts, but he had to make the touch. It was a home goal against Peterborough. Louis Barrie with a low-hard free kick from the left-hand side, so it was that man, Louis Barrie again, and yeah, Bailey got the last touch. He's actually started the last three matches, and has played pretty well by all accounts, so we're expecting him to start on New Year's Day. In terms of ambitions for the playoffs, I think we've got a good shout. I think that's definitely doable. Going off the last time we spoke, I said, for me, top 12 was the aim. I've probably raised my expectations now, seeing that we've played everybody, and we know what's out there. Barrie in any injury crisis or upheaval, I think we should be there there about us in the playoffs. I think automatic is too much of a stretch. I think everyone could agree on that, but yeah, looking good, and we're happy, you know, we're fifth in a league at the turn of the year, and that's the first time we've been this high since 2008. I think it was. I have to go back in my memory bank for that one. It's core prediction for the Birmingham game. We've got a bit of an injury crisis at the moment. Barrie looked like he pulled up with a with a bit of a tight hamstrings, so he might not play tomorrow. Horsefall definitely won't play, bait won't play. So there you've got the sort of the spine of the team. I could see you running out winners unless we, you know, our home farm comes to the fore and we go high and we go hard and we press and, you know, we somehow blow you away, but I honestly can't see it. So I'm going to be positive and say we're going to, we'll get a draw, maybe a win, a stature win, but in our likelihood, you're probably going to come out on top if the farm book plays true. So I think, yeah, I'm going to say one all is before. So that was Ross there, predicting that maybe Louis Barrie might not feature the stopport in their game against Birmingham, but for I, I don't believe that really, because being online from Aston Villa, being allowed to stay for this game, I imagine he is going to feature in some capacity, but Louis Barrie is the only player that's actually outscored, Jay Stanford in the league this season with Barrie having 15 goals, 16 in all competitions and Stanford with 12. So I imagine it's going to be a bit of a high scoring game. The last time I said that was the quarterly game where it was only a one-nil victory, but I'm going to go over to one victory for Blues this time. Hopefully we can bounce back in some fashion. I imagine there's going to be goals either way, but hopefully we have the firepower to pull through and hopefully a stronger 11 selected as well with the players playing in their natural positions, because I've seen on social media, that was perhaps a criticism of the team that faced Blackpool where players were kind of playing out of positions. Hopefully they play in their natural positions. We can pick up a win, stay top of the league and have a real strong run of form going into 2025. So if you like the video, please feel free to like, share, comment and subscribe. Please feel free to enter the giveaway as well.
