[MUSIC] Hey, you're always bitching about something I didn't get you. [MUSIC] So let your soul ride hit you by my damn dog, should have bit you. [MUSIC] You said that you mowed your old me, that I never would quit you. [MUSIC] You had poor old working on me girl, and you said that I would never quit you. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] When you leave, I don't believe I'm gonna miss you. [MUSIC] Hey, when you leave, I don't believe I'm gonna miss you. [MUSIC] So let me know I hit you by my damn dog, should have bit you. [MUSIC] Get out of my way. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Whatty guy opening up another episode is nothing but the blues with me, Cliff. And that was, "Let the door knob hit you." Great lyrics if you listen to them. It's from his latest home, "Living Proof." She came out at the end of last year. These are the blues masters. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Lovely. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Skip James there with Devil Got My Woman, recorded in Grafton, Wisconsin in February 1931, and hopefully you could hear that there was far less surface noise on that than on the previous record. This copy was cleaned up by a guy called Andrew Rose at pristine audio, they're a company that usually specialise in old classical recordings, but he's done a wonderful job with the Skip James and he did some blind bully Mac tellers well and things like that. And before that Robert Peoples with Wicked Devils Blues, Robert on Vocal, Henry Brown on piano, recorded in Grafton in November 1929. We've got a new name on the show now, this is a guy called Henry Frischlader, sorry about the pronunciation. [MUSIC] Some people might think that I am a star, yeah, but I ain't no good to guess without taking along the scars, when it's hard too much, it's time to help when you feel it all starts to touch me. But I'm holding on, going strong, when you do, I'm very done. I don't have a cell phone, I got three of them. I get 400 emails a day spent and I answer them. Two hours of sleep get cut up by the postman. Yeah, waking up with my clothes on and the lannars in my hand. Yeah, but it's when it's watching but you're sliding up when you feel it all starts to touch me. But I'm holding on, going strong, when you do, I'm only in the snow. I bought too much, it's not enough, when you feel it all starts to touch me. But I'm holding on, going strong, when you do, all you did is done. Yeah, yeah, but it feels so good, if you know that I'm in a home world, I'm changing it to really great tradition. But I know I should raise the horn and don't go good, 'cause every time I understand, I'm already on the road. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] That's a guy called Tommy Lee Thompson with "Packing Up My Blues". Tommy on vocal and guitar, John Thorne on piano, unknown guitar and drums, recorded in Jackson, Mississippi in 1952. And before that, Mercy D Walton with Dark Muddy Bottom recorded in Los Angeles, October 1953. Not sure if I've ever played any Susan Steske on the show, if I have, it's been a while, so let's have some now. [Music] Now I was a little girl, I felt so low, quite a country house that I had a call, living with a couple folks, rich million days, sat in the money Lord had seemed they didn't care. Finally removed of our own place, but I could walk around with a smile on my face, and I knew another to make a stand. I had to pull my roots and move on in this land, I'm gonna move away from here. You can find me if you wanna go there, who I'm gonna move away from here. You can find me if you wanna go there. I came to school in the big city, looked around the lights and I thought they were big, told me they'd teach me to live by their rules, so I wouldn't be nobody's food. Now if I'm not, not too long, their rules wouldn't let me sing my song. I knew another to make a stand. I had to pull my roots and move on in this land, I'm gonna move away from here. You can find me if you wanna go there, who I'm gonna move away from here. You can find me if you wanna go there. Oh yeah, stop. (upbeat music) I'm gonna move away from here. You can find me if you wanna go there, who I'm gonna move away from here. You can find me if you wanna go there. Oh yeah, then I joined on the call and drains. Then they said they'd teach me how to think. Gave me books to read on papers to write. They didn't know that this girl's called a fight. But I found out after a while reading them books was making me lose my smile. And I knew a lot of her to knock and seal. I had to play music and express what I feel I'm gonna move away from here. You can find me if you wanna go there, who I'm gonna move away from here. You can find me if you wanna move away from here. Oh yeah, then I joined on the call and I'm gonna move away from here. You can find me if you wanna go there. Oh yeah, then I moved away from here. I'm gonna roll out. Roll out. Oh yeah, then I'm gonna take too long. I'm gonna jump on a plane. Oh I'm gonna move away from here. Jump on a train and I'm gonna take too long. Well my heart took a beating lead me flat out on the floor. You know my heart took a beating lead me flat out on the floor. But you know what they say I was fair in love and war. Who had a fool in love would do almost anything. A fool in love would do almost anything. Yeah, I speak from the students and I know how hard it brings. Oh, I know my heart took a beating lead me flat out on the floor. But that's all I know is one thing I need to know. Lots of people about love you keep coming back and forth. But I was a fool in love and I didn't treat my baby right. I know I know I was a fool in love. I didn't treat my baby right. Yeah, I guess my story while I'm sitting here long tonight. Yeah, I live my heart took a beating lead me flat out on the floor. But that's all I know I'm looking for. Turn back the thing about love you keep coming back and forth. Yeah, I know my heart took a beating lead me flat out on the floor. I know my heart took a beating lead me flat out on the floor. So that's the thing about love you keep coming back and forth. Yeah, it's the thing about love you keep coming back. Keep on coming back and forth. Yeah, I know my heart took a beating lead me flat out on the floor. Wonderful Theresa James and the rhythm trumps with my heart took a beating from her 2004 album Oh Yeah. And pretty much any of Theresa's albums are worth getting. But I really like that one. And before that Susan Todeski with Gunna Move from her 2002 album Wait for Me that track with Mr Todeski also known as Derek Trucks helping out on guitar. Let's change the style a bit now. This is Junior Wells on Earl Hooker.
