Welcome to "Nothing But the Blue" is the main cliff. And that was James Cotton buried alive in the blues, getting us off to a great start. Well, January is named after Janus, the two headed God of Gateways, who traditionally is looking back at the old year and forward at the new year. So this week, I'm gonna look back at some of my favorite albums of 2010. In no particular order, I'm not trying to go sort of count down or anything. Well, L.R. Phoenix and Mr. Mohal had a new album in 2010. I think it's the best yet. It's called "Jumper on the Line". And from that, this is "Don't Want No Skinny Woman". (upbeat music) (upbeat music) ♪ I don't need no skinny woman ♪ ♪ Me don't shake me don't shake me ♪ ♪ Me me me me ♪ ♪ Me me me ♪ (upbeat music) (upbeat music) ♪ Well, she won't cook no rabbit ♪ ♪ Yes, she don't wash clothes ♪ ♪ I still, I still love ♪ ♪ Love, love, love ♪ (upbeat music) ♪ She's good for the woman ♪ ♪ And I love her for myself ♪ ♪ She's good for the woman ♪ ♪ She, she, she ♪ (upbeat music) ♪ She's good for the woman ♪ (upbeat music) ♪ Yeah, don't want no skinny woman ♪ ♪ I don't need no skinny woman ♪ ♪ Me don't shake me don't shake me ♪ ♪ Me me me me ♪ (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) - Hi, this is Antles Rose from Tata, Estonia, and you're listening to Nothing But the Blues with Cliff McKnight. It's from his new album, "Browned About." And it's much more diverse than "Bullfrog Brown Albums." I really like it. I like "Bullfrog Browned." I like this one. It's a great album. That track had Dave Arcari on vocals. And Dave's own new album, "Devil's Left Hand," didn't quite make the cut into this show, but I'll certainly be featuring it in the future. Well, two great lady singers now, especially for Simon in Australia. - Hey, this is Kirsten Thene. You're traveling with Cliff and "Nothing But the Blues." That was Caron Lovely with Boom Boom, it's from a new old and lucky girl. And as far as I can tell, that was also released in 2010, like still the rain. And before that coast and theme with I ain't superstitious from her new album Delicious. Well the next guy may seem a bit of a cheat, it's Mississippi Fred McDowell, but as far as I know the album came out last year. Well I think we better go home. So two. [Music] Where are you going to change? [Music] Where are you going to change? Where are you going to change? Where are you going to change? [Music] Where are you going to change? It's from the wonderful oven laid down by burden and he lists it as a traditional tune but I know it mostly I think as a Reverend Gary Davis tune. And before that Mississippi Fred McDowell with you going to meet King Jesus. It's from the album Come and Found You Gone which was recorded by Bill Ferris in 1967. But as far as I know, it only became available last year. If you're a Fred McDowell fan, rush out and buy it. Right, this next guy's somebody I only came across last year. His name, Claude Hay, and the other one's Deep Fried Satisfied. [Music] Can I get just a garden salad? Are you crazy, man? I don't believe I heard a dime.
