Eddie was the drummer who sometimes sang but on that track the vocal and harmonica was Johnny Tucker with Roosevelt Parker and Louis Major on guitars recorded in Miami in 1956 and before that Harvey Hill Jr. she fooled me. Harvey on vocal and guitar, all the other players are known I'm afraid, recorded in Detroit in 1952. Well I got a great reaction when I played Kirsten Thee in a couple of weeks ago so here's another from her. My fingers don't work the way they should. If I could take you you know I would but I've been drinking so I hand you the keys. My mama taught me to always say, please, please dry. Please dry. I know I can't control this thing. I got hold of please dry. I was 16 going on 21. I wasn't looking for love. I was looking for fun. You guaranteed I'd be satisfied. So I agreed. I said let's go for a ride but you tried. Please dry. I know I can't control this thing. I got hold of please dry. I know I can't control this thing. I know I can't control this thing. I know I can't control this thing. I know I can't control this thing. I know I can't control this thing. I know I can't control this thing. Last night I was thinking after we made love. How deep you move me and push comes to show. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I don't want you to pray to love me. [Music] Well two songs featuring here at Sumlin the first up we heard the fabulous Kirsten Theon with Please Drive. It's from our new album Delicious and featuring here with song guitar and I played that for Simon in Australia and then we heard Aya Dine in My Coffee the muddy water song from Hubert's 2004 album About Them Shoes. Great stuff. Well from Hubert Sumlin to Scrap a Black Well. First up with Leroy Carr and then in his own right. Big 4 Big 4. Why would you be so mean? Big 4 Big 4. Why would you be so mean? Why you the mean is so strange that I ever see. You're taking my baby away and love me standing here. Now you're taking my baby away and love me standing here. Well I ain't got no wonderin' long and that's where I can't go nowhere. Did you name it I heard you when you blowed your whistle? Simon I heard you when you're wrong your bill. Did you name it I heard you when you blowed your whistle? Simon I heard you when you're wrong your bill. Well I hate it if you're not my baby. My baby fair you were. [Music] Now that's Big 4 Big 4. Bring my baby home someday. Now that's Big 4 Big 4. Bring my baby home someday. Where do you want to be? Simon that you're treating me this way. [Music] I got a no good one. Aren't you sure don't mean me no good? I got a no good one. Aren't you sure don't mean me no good? I opened another woman like him in nobody's neighborhood. She leaves every morning come back at the break of day. She leaves every morning come back at the break of day. [Music] I'm when she comes in the morning she ain't got ever to say. [Music] Every time I look at that woman she's got a frown on her face. [Music] Every time I look at that woman she's got a frown on her face. [Music] But she's taught me a lesson about no good women and men. [Music] Well first up though we heard Leroy Carr with big four blues from his last recording session in Chicago in February 1935 with Scrapper Blackwell on guitar. Leroy Carr died in April that year and then we heard Scrapper Blackwell as the front man on no good woman blues recorded in Chicago in July 1935 and with Dot Rice on piano. Well buddy guys got a brand new album out called Living Proof. It's a great album this is a track from it. [Music] Down in Louisiana on a cotton plantation. [Music] Little ten rule shack and a third grade education. [Music] Two string and wood guitar. [Music] A ton of myself how to play. [Music] Yes it is. [Music] Kept a whole family up all night. [Music] And I told them that you'll make me one day. [Music] Yes I do. [Music] My sister would scream. [Music] But you just got to stop. [Music] You're waking up the whole family. [Music] Everybody's going to be hot. [Music] Two string and wood guitar. [Music] And I showed her a ton of myself how to play. [Music] She said turn it down buddy. I say shout out. You're gonna make me someday. [Music] You're gonna make me one day. [Music] Did you hear what I say? [Music] That's so awesome to me. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Buddy Guy reinventing the wall of sound there. That thanked me someday. From his brand new album Living Proof. As I say, it's a great album. BB King guests on one track. Carlos Santana on another. And what I noticed is that all the songs were written or co-written by the drummer. Tom Hambridge, which has got to be a slightly unusual thing. Well, I think I have to change the style after that now. This is the Bill Street Sheikst. [Music] Now, the songs got changed. It won't treat me right. Trying to keep good drinking with God on my side. Still like it's all that same. [Music] I mean the same thing. [Music] I'm gonna try to tell you my ending. [Music] Now, don't be shy. Fall into brown. I think about the times as I live down. Give me a storm then. I mean the same thing. [Music] Bring around the bottom, start with let's bottle some beer. The time done got to dry around him for me to start. [Music] I mean the same thing. And I'm getting tired, tell you my ending. [Music] Now, I'm stomping into summer time. You're needing a way to fall. Don't stomp me right. You need a storm at a tall hill. Don't be tall then. I mean the same thing. And I'm getting tired, tell you my ending. [Music] Now, mama said one thing. My father said he said he was stomping at the thing. He's about to change my name. Now, he'll be stomping. I mean the same thing. And I'm getting sick and tired. He ain't no thing. [Music] [Music] [Music] I think I've got something. I don't know what it's to. There it's time to move it a lot. I can't be still. I don't wake it up. I don't wake it up. After you do. It will be until a black day. [Music] I may be right. I may be wrong. Can't get the sun black house for all those thrills. I don't wake it up. I don't wake it up. After you do. It will be until a black day. They may help but help. They may love me. But when you take off that shoe you can smell the stanky feet. I don't wake it up. [Music] I don't wake it up. After you do. It will be until a black day. I don't wake it up. [Music] It'll be until a black day. [Music] Now some of them first. They'll call you honey. But when you go to the house it will smell mighty honey. Oh don't wake it up. Oh don't wake it up. After you do. It will be until a black day. I'm going to tell you something baby. You know it's just right. Get your bar of PNC and take my bath tonight. Oh don't wake it up. Oh don't wake it up. After you do. It will be until a black day. She got a pet morning. She's looking like a queen. And then I'll tell you something that they eat. Oh don't wake it up. Oh don't wake it up. After you do. It will be until a black day. Some days of worrying. Some days of don't. Baby you got something that I sure love won't. Oh don't wake it up. Oh don't wake it up. After you do. It will be until a black day. You may look sorry. You may look mad. You ain't got nothing that I wish I had. Oh don't wake it up. Oh don't wake it up. If you do, it will be until a black day. The Mississippi Sheeks with Please Don't Wake It Up. Walter Vincent on guitar and vocal Lonnie Chapman on violin. I recorded in Atlanta Georgia in October 1931. And before that the Bill Street Sheeks would stomp that thing. And the Bill Street Sheeks were Frank Stokes and Dan Sain. That was recorded in Memphis in August 1928. Well Johanna Shaw Taylor's got a great new album out. This is a track from it. [Music] Burned sky, did not die. Look up on the old water fly. Well it's all alright. We got our weapons rushing. No amount of chains can hold us still. And I just want you a guy. And the Mississippi. And don't lose me. But I'm not going back again. We were right in front of that friend. Oh I wish I hope I can. All the times he had to be with me. Maybe I'm so so old. All the clearness is I go. What's the secret, what's the point? It's the destiny of the soul. That just lies with the end. And don't you lose me. But I'm not going back again. We were right in front of that friend. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] And don't you lose me. But I'm not going back again. We were right in front of that friend. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Johan Shor Taylor will jump that train. It's from the brand new album Diamonds and the Durs. The eagerly awaited follow-up to White Sugar. And she was voted female vocalist of the year at this year's British Blues Awards. If you like White Sugar, you'll love this album. It's great stuff. I'll be coming back to it. Well, Andru's Roots is working on a new album. I know that. But in the meantime, he seems to be quite prolific, putting out several CD singles. This is the latest one. What you do? [Music] When you got a job and you don't want it, really hate to guess I've been the morning. When you've got a life but you don't know, the meaning of the life when you're not home. What you do, what you do, what you do, what you do. And what you do, what you do. What you do, what you do. When you got it good, I got it bad. Midnight's at the fridge, just like a rut. When you just step on your neighbor's cat, will you just run, or will you stop me chatting? And what you do, what you do. What you do, what you do. And what you do, what you do. [Music] When you got the money but you used to save. You jump looking in her day body. When you got the school but you're up for. What do you expect that it will do. And what you do, what you do. What you do, what you do. And what you do, what you do. What you do, what you do. [Music] [Music] See my jump ahead and I'll fly. See my jump ahead and I'll fly. There's something going on in my mind. [Music] [Music] What I'm feeling, what I'm feeling, what I'm feeling, what I'm feeling, what I'm feeling. I'm feeling, what I'm feeling, what I'm feeling, what I'm feeling, what I'm feeling. [Music] That's L.R. Phoenix and Mr. Moell with Jumper on the Line. It's the title track of their latest album. And before that, Andra's Roots and Black River Blues Man with What You Do. Andra's is from Estonia and Black River Blues Man is from Finland. And also from Finland on drums was Badmood Hudson.
