[music] Feels so good. [music] Calm my name. [music] Feels so good. [music] Calm my name. [music] If life was any sweeter, be it your gon' shame. [music] Now, just how lucky can't one man get? I hit the jacket on the day we met. Feels so good. [music] Calm my name. [music] If life was any sweeter, be it your gon' shame. [music] When she called my name, feels runny down my spine. [music] Feels so good. [music] Come, my name. [music] If life was any sweeter, be it your gon' shame. [music] [music] Chris James and Patrick Ryn with Life Couldn't Be Sweeter. It's from the New Harlem Gunna Boogie anyway. Welcome to another edition of Nothing But the Blues with Me, Cliff. It's a slightly special one, and I'll say more about that later. But let's have a couple of the harmonica-based tracks now. [music] Bumblebee Summer's Morning. I've been looking for that Bumblebee all day long. [music] Bumblebee Summer's Morning. [music] I've been looking for that Bumblebee all day long. [music] Bumblebee Summer's Morning now. [music] It's coming in my right arm. [music] Come out Bumblebee. [music] Oh, thank you, Mr. Bumblebee, now now. Tell you, get it real. [music] Sometimes it makes me happy. Then again, it makes me cry. [music] Sometimes it makes me happy. [music] Then again, it makes me cry. [music] I feel you're so bad, I feel you're so bad now. We should go with that, I can't die. [music] Come out Bumblebee. [music] You're my Bumblebee. You know you know you're tough. [music] Oh, stand me. [music] Tell you, get it real. [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] Sometimes it makes me happy. Then again, it makes me cry. [music] Sometimes it makes me happy. [music] Then again, it makes me cry. [music] I feel you're so bad, so bad now. [music] I wish to go with that, I can't die. [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] Oh, stand me. [music] Till I get enough. [music] [music] I feel good. [music] Yeah, when you do it like that, I want to do you like this. [music] I want to teach you a lesson for a little bit. [music] Come and get your little like that. I want to do you like this. [music] Just want to touch my mouth and a box of love and say. [music] Let my right hand make you understand. [music] Come and get your little like that. I want to do you like this. [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] Yeah, when you do it like that, I want to do you like this. [music] [music] [music] [music] Mitch Cashman, the Pontiacs, is when you do me like that, I want to do you like this. It's from a reissue of the 80s album a hundred miles ago that the Pontiacs put out. And it's the complete album plus two bonus tracks, and that was one of them. And before that, Bob Corritory and Bumblebee. That's from the album, Paul Monica Blues. And it's a collection of tracks that Bumblebee's made over 20 years really from 1989 up to 2009 with a whole variety of people. And Bumblebee featured Honey Boy Edwards recorded in September 2007. And there's a whole load of other people on as well, Coco Taylor, Little Milton, Pine Tops Perkins, loads of other people. It's a great sort of retrospective of Bob's. Well, I'm going to go back in time with it now. This is Lonnie Johnson. [music] Stay close by me, baby. Don't leave me for a single day. [music] Stay close by me, baby. Don't leave me for a single day. [music] I'm going to feel like a Sam's going to call me, and I'll soon be miles and miles away. [music] I don't want to leave you, baby. But look like daddy's got to go. [music] I don't want to leave you, baby. But look like daddy's got to go. [music] There's no peace on earth, and there's hell everywhere you go. [music] From 18 to 35, it didn't even cross my mind. [music] From 18 to 35, it didn't even cross my mind. [music] But from 20 to 44, it looks like everybody's got to go. [music] Dream last night I signed my name. Mances, please raise your hand. [music] Dream last night I signed my name. Mances, please raise your hand. [music] From 20 to 44, I know I'm headed for no man's land. [music] So much I want to tell you, baby. But my heart can't stand a stranger. [music] Don't let my mother dead. Don't let them come to the stranger. [music] Just think of leaving you, baby. It's just a block down in my face. [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] Well, I'm so mad just to morning. I don't know when you're where it goes. [music] Well, I'm so mad just to morning. I don't know when you're where it goes. [music] Howling Wolf with 44, recorded in Chicago in May 1954, without a span on piano. Jody Williams and Hubert Summon on guitar, Willie Dickson on bass, and Earl Phillips on drums. And before that, Lonnie Johnson with from 20 to 44, recorded in Chicago in February 1942, with Blind John Davis on piano. Right, let's have something from the ladies now. [music] Before you know you got me good, and I will be all full of for you. You know I could have walked away, baby, even if I wanted to. Yeah, get me under your spell, child. You got me with that look in your eye. You let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Well, your voice is like a lullaby. A faucet of security. You're right gonna print my heart, baby. I know you ain't no good for me. But you got me under your spell, child. I've never felt a lie. Make me shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. [music] Because that's the first way, baby. To eat fruit from the forbidden tree. I heard possessed and tissue, baby, know. But when you're tempting me, I'm with a night heart, the witching hour. I'm worried for your touch. But I'm worried for your loving eyes. I just can't get enough of the food I bought. You got me good, and I'll be awful for you. But you got me under your spell, child. I couldn't leave it. If I tried, make me shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine. Let 'em shine.
