Recorded in Indianapolis in July 1961. And if you think crossing the yellow dog sounds like genetic engineering, the Monon was the Chicago, Indianapolis and Louisville Railroad, and the yellow dog was the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad. And actually the two railroads never crossed. It's been suggested that a scrap of Blackwell was probably mystery-membring and the earlier song of his Down South Blues from 1931, which had the line, "I'm going where the Monon crosses the L&N." But we'll never know, he was shot and killed the following year in a back alley in Indianapolis, probably in a mugging that went wrong. But the crime was never solved, tragic loss, great guitar. And before that Leroy car with Alabama Woman Blues, recorded in Chicago, September 1930, with scrap of Blackwell on guitar. And I'm sorry about the service noise on it, but the only recording I have is on vinyl. Well, let's stay with the classics, but come a bit more up to date. And I'm indebted to my good friend Boogie King, Steve, from K-R-V-M, for bringing that to my attention. Curtis was diagnosed with lung and liver cancer in 2006, and given eight months to live. And fortunately, he's made a remarkable recovery. I'm good on him. Curtis Salgado. Big Joe Williams and JD Short with Vox and Gravel recorded in February 1958. The album was Staving Chain Blues, but that track and three others were previously unissued until Delmock made the album available on CD in, when was it, 1991. JD Short was actually Big Joe's cousin. And before that, Lewis Black and Gravel Camp Blues recorded in Memphis in December 1927. Well, one of the albums I've been eagerly awaiting is the new one from Matt Scofield.
