Back to normal this week after last week's awards show. And that was Magic Slim and the Teardrops getting us off with Wake Me Up early. Great track. From his 1998 album Black Tornado. And as I say, there's no theme this week except Great Blues that I like. That's usually the rule every week anyway. Well both of Brown had got a new album out with Steve Lurie on harmonica. I've played a track before. I'm going to play another one now. It was recorded live and you'll hear Alar introducing it presumably in Estonian. The track is Wicked Green. ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ Said when I'm walking down the street with my hole in my shoes. Just trying to break away just breaking check-a-loos. Walking up the river with a church in my view. Wearing on my shoes while my taps are getting to you. Countling all the way to the top of the hill. With a just for me and my wicked crown. Spending all my times when I could earn a box. Getting left behind is one of cool, a good line. Well I'm staying for you, but staying. All the tired, all the channels may tell you. But I'm a kind of loud with thanks so plenty of guts. And a harmful sin with just for me and my wicked crown. ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ Said well to tell all those music set my world on fire. Playing guitar was my one desire. Well, that was Doug Cox and Sam Hurry with Grinning in Your Face from the 2005 album. Hungry Ghosts. And the backing vocals there were the wonderful Ruthie Foster and Sid Cassone. It's a son house song. And I'm going to go to Son House next, but a word of explanation first. Son recorded some songs in July 1942. And this next one was originally titled Depot Blues. But for some reason when the tracks were put out on transatlantic, they renamed them. I don't know why. But they did. So on the transatlantic album that I'm playing this song, it's called "I Ain't Gonna Cry No More". ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ I went to Depot and I looked up on the boat ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ I went to Depot and I looked up on the boat ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ You know my woman was on the boat ♪ ♪ She was waving back at you when ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ I had the strength I would set the train off the tracks ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ [ Music ] Hi, this is Rory Block, and you're listening to Nothing But the Blues.
