And before that, Buddy Whittington with his tribute to Stevie, with the typical Buddy Whittington clever lyric, Stevie Ray Vaughan, as in the Buddy Holly track. Well, I'm going to change the style a bit now again. Somebody with another new album out is Dave Ocari. His new album is called "Got Me Electric". This is "Hear Me Coming". (Music) Jesus rising, son has long gone down. Jesus rising, son has long gone down. Look for my baby, but she ain't around me. Sky is shining, son has long gone down. I got a fire in the fireplace, like I got beside a store. Well, I feel just like a cat, ain't never gonna work no more. [Music] Well, first up there, Dave Arcari, with hear me coming from his brand new album, Got Me Electric. What I heard just then was Bullfrog Brown and Whiskers. The track was originally on the Snakes and Devil's album, but you won't find this version on any of their albums. And they recorded it for the Estonian Eurovision semi-finals, would you believe. They weren't actually competing, the organizers had decided to have some, what they thought were alternative acts on the show, as well as the competitors. And that track features the Bullfrog Brown duo on Ruissenalar, with upright bass player Peter Peake, and the heavy metal drummer Peter Yogioga, I've probably pronounced that all wrong, who decided to use a suitcase instead of his drum kit. Remember, you heard it here first. In fact, you probably won't hear it anywhere else. Where do we go after that? This is a guy I played a few weeks ago. This is Arthur Louie, I'm born to sing the blues. [music] I remember the track, yeah, when we used to play. You tore me up the track. And turned me on. [music] My mama told me, "Son, you're born to sing the blues." [music] My mama told me, "Son, you're born to sing the blues." [music] He came along, like a hurricane. [music] [music] Jay B. Lenore, with "I Sing 'em the Way I Feel." From a compilation album called "This Is Blues." And before that, Arthur Louis with "Born to Sing the Blues." From his latest album, "A Black Cat" released at the end of last year. Some of the tracks on that are new, but some of them are old tracks as well. I changed the style again a bit now. This is "Big Bill Brunsy," recorded in Chicago in November 1956. This is "Black Brown and White Blues." [music] This little song that I'm singing about, people you know is true. If you're black and got to work for a living now, this is what they were saying to you. They said, "If you're white, you're right. If you're brown, stick around and let you play." Oh, brother, get back, get back, get back. [music] I was in a place one night, there's all having fun. There's all buying air and wine, but they would not sell me none to say that if you were white, you'd be all right. If you're brown, stick around, but as you're black, oh, brother, get back, get back, get back. [music] They went to reform your office, the number I got in line. They called everybody's number, but they never did call mine and say that if you was white, you'd be all right. If you were brown, stick around, but as you're black, oh, brother, get back, get back, get back. [music] Me and a man are working side by side, this is what it meant. They was paying him a dollar, no one. They was paying me 50 cents to say that if you was white, you'd be all right. If you were brown, stick around, but as you're black, oh, brother, get back, get back, get back. [music] I hope this country, and I fought for it too. Now I'll guess that you can see what a black man has to do. He says, if you were white, she's all right. If you were brown, stick around, but as you're black, would, brother, get back, get back, get back. [music] I hope when sweet victory, with my little flying home, now I want you to tell me, brother, what you're going to do? It's about the old Jim Crow, now if you was white, it's all right. If you were brown, stick around, but as you're black, oh, brother, get back, get back, get back. [music] Hi, this is Eric Bib, and you're listening to Cliff with Nothing But the Blues. Now this song is the "Bourgeois Blues" by the great Leadbelly, written in 1938. [music] Me and my wife, we went all over town, and everywhere we went, people turned us down, nor did they buzz you all over town. [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] Strange called to end on. If you buy the French version, it's called "Spirit's I Am", and you get an extra CD with seven field recordings, and just under 20 minutes of video, and that's one of the field recordings, great stuff. The album's called "Already Free". This is "The Direct Trucks Band" and "Down in the Flood". Thanks for listening, and I'll catch you next week. Now you can train on down to Williams Point.
