The Dr Boyce Breakdown
Beyonce's Ivy Park accused of blackface cultural appropriation - how this links to black wealth

I was asked this week about #Beyonce and an interesting display of something called "blackfishing." This is where white models use blackface and stereotypical black culture in an effort to profit from the cultural authenticity granted from American blackness. While this is no fault of #Beyonce or even her #IvyPark brand, there are a few questions a person should ask about this Black fishing situation and also ways to understand that while this might seem harmless or just a matter of borrowing style, these actions have deep roots in the ways in which black people lose wealth all throughout the world. Beyonce and Ivy Park may want to reconsider their marketing strategies in the future.
