Greetings and such! This week it's just the usual menage a trois of Tyler Barber, Anthony Gallegos and Arthur Gies as we talk about the new Gears of War 2 and Fallout 3 content, Trials HD, and Little King's Story, then move on to talk about what games are lucky or screwed by their delay into next year. Then we close out with letters, as usual. www.donttouchmytaildick.com!This week's music, in order of appearance: Snow Patrol - Spitting GamesTrivium - Down From the SkySarah Slean - Me, I'm a Thief
It's not quite opening with masturbation and crying, but... I can do my impression of cat yodeling, sounds like an engine trying to turn over. Hey that was one of the exact type of cat yodeling you should. Your cat has like the easiest to mimic noises ever, she sounds like a whale, it's woo hoo. Yeah, no man you do it too much, she's not quite that well. You have some house accidentally downloaded the whale podcast. Cat fancy, this is a... Couldn't I just be the pod cast? Pod cast? No, like a group of whales is called a pod, you ignorant bastard. Oh we're talking about whales still, he said cat fancy. I thought you meant pod is in like... What about the world's most disorganized pod cast? I'm just taking off my shoes for a while, getting a little more comfortable, or my fancy socks today. Welcome to Rebel FM episode number 28. This week it's me, Anthony Gallegos of Game Spy and Eat Sleep, Game.com fame joined by my co-hosts Arthur Geeze and Tyler Barber. Bueno! Bueno! We just got done eating some vegan soul food, I'm solely vegan in Oakland, California. With some wicked rough strawberry ginger ale. Yeah, it was pretty strong, it was like a good, stiff drink. Didn't go where I expected it to. What were you going to say, a good stiff penis, is that what you were going to say, a good stiff penis? That's not what I was going to say, I expected that's where you would take it. But that's what's in your mind you wanted. I actually just wanted ginger ale, and got some kind of demon you asked for strawberry ginger ale. You asked for strawberry ginger ale, man. I did, I did. And you got strawberry ginger ale. This is true. You just had a lot of ginger in it. It's heavy on the ginger, light on the strawberry. So we talk about video games for this podcast. You wouldn't know it. We tried to. Normally we talk about game, we've been playing, but none of us played shit, so this is where the podcast ends. See you guys next week. Watch co-op on area5.tv. I'm just going to go lay in my bed, and then seriously, it's crying first. He needs to work up some lubricating gel. That's right. I forgot. Plus I can't get off of it if I'm crying. Maybe we should stop and start over. No, that's fine. Let's just talk about games. That was only two minutes. So it's not like we were like- This is complete nonsense. Yeah, it was nonsense, but let's talk about games for real. So we'll start with what we've been playing as usual when the- Yeah, let's talk about- No, shut up. Let's talk about what we've been playing before. We're not even going to tell people what's coming up. Just what we've been playing. Can I start? I hate you when you interrupt me. You start us first. Yeah, a lot of people don't necessarily like that either. That you interrupt me? Yeah. I know. And then some people do like it. Really? You get emails from people saying that they're glad when you interrupt me? Yeah. Fuck those people. Fuck you. So what have you been playing right there? A lot of downloadable stuff over the last week. So I guess do you want to start with gears or do you want to- I just- I told you what have you been playing? Therefore, now you guide us in whatever direction you see fit. We'll start with gears. Gears of War II. Yay. All fronts DLC. That's what it's called. The new one. The new gears to DLC. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to play any of the multiplayer stuff yet because it adds like three new maps and well, I don't give two shits about competitive multiplayer and gears too. I definitely like Horde and I would have liked to have played. I had a Horde too, but even when I played Horde, I'd still rather just play that same one map we always play. Which map would you- So you say that, but originally what happened is I said last week that it adds more maps and you're all- I thought they were only like two or three Horde maps. Yeah, but I'm just saying everyone I know when they play Horde always plays the one with the movie theater and the arcade. Like that's like the- Really? Yeah. I think that's like day one or something. Hmm. This map we like to play. It has a nice balcony with a grenade spawn and only one entrance up a stairwell. So yeah. Are we talking about the one where it's like an outdoor balcony? Like it's like- Were there's a big crater in the center of it? Yeah. No, no, no. Jacinto is the stage. The level looks very gothic in architecture and there's a helicopter pad. I don't know exactly which stage you're talking about. Yeah, with the Regency movie theater, but Jacinto is fun. But so anyway, we played you and I, Anthony and I, co-opted through the deleted scene that the new content added. You guys took the stealth route while we tried for a while. Yeah, we tried. Yeah. I don't know if it's boring. All I know is that Anthony kept fucking it up. You know, it is boring though. It's just like you run past some guys. That is not what you play gears for. True. I mean, running past guys and gears and just being like, "Oh, we're too close." It's just like, "Ah, fuck it." Man, yeah. So what- If the fun is part about that is stopping and popping. So like what, what determined, you know, how did you guys spawn it? If you got too close to a guy for too long. Yeah. So basically this takes place immediately after you find Maria. And I think the third chapter. It's like- It's like- It's like in between that and when you meet back up with Baird and everyone. Yeah. Mm-hmm. So there's a point immediately after the Maria scene where, where previously Marcus told Dom that they could go in guns blazing if he wanted to, like to go through the hollow or whatever and then you go through and start shooting shit. Are you making noises over there? Not sure. Oh, weird. So this takes place between those. So all of a sudden Marcus pulls out like a Theron Guard helmet and says, "Well, dress up as some of these." And the, the conceit for stealth is that if you get too close to them, they smell you. Mm-hmm. Okay. I guess. Do you- Oh, I'm sorry. No, no, go ahead. I was just going to say I took, I took the action path. I played it alone. But my path went sort of like right down the center of the level is how I would describe it. Like it seemed like the whole level was like a giant bridge. No, it's pretty much stealthy. Stealth goes down the center. No, I was thinking like there would be a different path and everything. No, it's cool. And like you had to climb up like the same five pairs of ladders and hit switches at the same time. Like it's almost like Gears of War meets Pac-Man in a lot of ways. It's just the same thing except we went around the enemies that you fought. Until they saw us. That sounds like no fun. Until they spotted us at which point we were completely surrounded. In my opinion, it was no fun. Man, I, yeah. Until we started shooting things and it was right, right, right. So I mean, it's interesting. Like I don't want to talk too much shit about it because they'd say, I mean, they've gone on record as saying that it was cut for a reason. Right. And they sold it to people. That wasn't working well. I mean, they could have just sold the multiplayer maps for what they charge to people about it. Right. But I'm saying if they're going to release it. It's single player content that people are paying for. I'm going to say, I'm going to talk shit about it for what? I mean, it was done. I don't want to talk shit about Gears of War 2 stealth section because they admitted that it wasn't. I'm not calling it Gears of War 2 stealth section because as far as I'm concerned, it's not Gears of War 2. It's just the extra thing that is cut material and it's cut for a reason. Yeah. It's not in the game proper. It's like separated from the game like you selected from the menu. I was kind of taking it back that you can't save. Like if you quit in the middle of it, you have to start all over again. Right. I think that's just because the game only keeps track of like one save and it's like single player. Well, it's one save per difficulty, I think. That's what I'm saying. But it would be confused whether you were doing the normal game or that. Yeah. Again, it makes sense. It's just I could see where if some were more casual and we're playing it, they might be a little non-plussed by it. I really did not like the original Gears of War 2 campaign because I love Gears of Wars. I love the shooting mechanics. Like I want to get into shootouts with a locus. That's what I like. And I felt like the original story kept throwing me on vehicles or in kind of quirky boss battles or in sort of weird situations. I felt like they kept taking me out of the Gears shooting mechanic. But I actually really liked the DLC all fronts because I took the all action. That's what I'm saying. The all action way. It's just fine. It's just doing it stealth is done. I mean, I don't know. I liked that in Gears of War 2, it would break up the pacing and do something like different like. Yeah. But I mean, I'm going to be honest. Like every vehicle segment in Gears of War 2 in my opinion has always been terrible. Like I thought it was they were bad. Yeah. I mean, I didn't feel the reality. I felt like there was only a handful of sections where you were shooting out like you did. If you do the tank part by yourself, it's fine but doing co-op tank is fucking almost impossible. It's not very important. Yeah. And the first game the vehicle part is like the one of the worst vehicle parts I've ever had. Oh, yeah. It's it's not Marishly Bad. And there's nothing that terrible in Gears of War 2. No. I mean, that is that is like a giant blemish on an otherwise awesome game, but there's nothing quite that bad in this. But I don't I like the way that the pacing is is more evenly spaced between fights and quiet moments and the sort of palette cleanser moments where you're on vehicles. All that falls apart on the hardest difficulty setting, which I started playing again because I thought, Oh, I've got gears in my disc tray and I never finished gears on insane. So maybe I should or Gears 2 want to say maybe I should try to do that and proceeded to hate myself for two hours. Yeah. I don't have much patience these days. Yeah, it's just it's, hmm, hmm, hmm, none of us paid for it. I will say that what the DLC? Yeah. No, I we I mean, we got it through. That's what I'm saying. If I paid for that single player content, I might have been more upset. I don't know. I think only because I don't. If you're if you're an enthusiastic Gears fan and you would like if you should be buying it for the single player content, because there's not a third of just a fire. Right. Should be multiplayer stuff. If you if you play horde or multiplayer or both, then you probably already know that you want it. And the single player campaign stuff is a nice bonus. And you're run through. Did you guys run into somebody from the first Gears? Yeah, we can spoil it. I don't care. I mean, it's not. Yeah. It's not canon. Okay. Click. I mean, it doesn't sound like you might not run into them. Yeah, exactly. It's like keep the eye out for all. So the beginning of it, you seem like it was storyline like you couldn't not write. The beginning of the DLC has the video from Quiffy B where he's like, and keep keep your eyes peeled for a cameo from a character from Gears 1. And as we start, I'm like, I'm telling Anthony, well, I'm looking around because there's supposedly there might be someone from Gears 1 around here somewhere. And then we come to the fucking douchebag that hooks you up with the the junker from Gear. I like that. I like that guy. The guy most the guy responsible for the most painful part of the game. He was there for like two minutes. Well, no, like in in the DLC, it was cool when he was because even did a she did you guys catch that? He did have a wire moment where he said she was that when they said that they weren't going to go back up. Yeah, that's when he gets ready to bail out on you. Man, about that Cliffy B videos, it just me like, it seems like every time I get a picture of that guy, like he's high on pills or something like his, his, his, he was like dilated. Fuck. He's hot up on goofballs. I mean, maybe he's like a nice guy, but I don't know. Where are they? Where's Epic North Carolina? Yeah. There's only so much you can do. Yeah. There's not a lot to do in North Carolina. And when you're that rich, you just fly, you just pay to have helicopters not searched by the government as they fly from Mexico or Columbia with cocaine and still Timwell. It's Ferrari, the Lamborghini. Damn. I'm just kidding. He probably doesn't do anything, but I just think it's funny the idea of someone fucking doing cocaine and be like, all right, I got this idea, right? I got this idea for this part of this campaign. I'm going to write it. I think it's turns it in. It's like stick figure drawings, make this into a level and it's fucking storms out and gets a Lamborghini. Oh, God. Fucking cliffies on a bender again. So gears to DLC, the, the campaign stuff isn't what you're, you should be paying for. Although that's what was hyped up the most, I feel like, I, yeah, I mean, just cause it was like, see, you know, it's like the same thing with like hook, tradition of a DVD, like, see the fucking cut shit and you're like, oh shit. And I mean, I'm all for that. Like, it's an interesting concept and I totally, yeah, but in movies a lot of times when they cut something out, it's because it really didn't flow with the movie well and, or, or because of time constraints or getting down to a rating. So sometimes it's really cool stuff and where is this? It was like, oh, it's cause this wasn't as much fun. Well, or cause they just didn't have time or budget to finish the scene or it didn't make sense in the game. True. Kent, what else have you been playing? Thank you. Oh, this is the worst podcast ever. Why? I could talk about the times I've been propositioned by prostitutes. I've got to figure out a way to leave that in. Uh, so I've also been, uh, I've been playing Mothership Zeta, which is the, uh, the last of the fall through DLC, supposedly, uh, so I've heard some people say that it's the worst DLC they've released for fall, but I don't feel that way. I still feel like Anchorage is sort of the low point. It's just really long and I realized that for a lot of people hearing that about DLC, that's a selling point, but playing through it, it just seemed like it was, it took forever to get through the ship because once you're on the ship, you cannot leave it until you're finished. All right. And most fallout content is not that way. Like you, it takes 15 or 20 minutes to finish a part of a quest and then you're back wandering around if you want to and in this, you are stuck on a goddamn spaceship for four and a half hours. Well, you know, one thing I think that's weird, as, as much as I was in to Fallout and as much as I loved my time with Fallout, I almost feel Fallout fatigue with this DLC. I feel like they've been too good about getting it out too quick. You know? Do you guys feel the same way? Is that just me? I don't feel Fallout fatigue because like the DLC will come out, I'll spend maybe a week playing through it and then we'll go four or five weeks between and then they'll release more Fallout. And that's actually good because it's not so long that I just forget everything about where I was in the world or what I was doing. And it's long enough that I'm like, I could go for some more Fallout. See, but when you describe to me, like when you play through the DLC, it seems like you go through it much faster than I do. Like when I was at, you know, when I did the Pit and Anchorage, you know, I spent like a week or two, you know, just doing all the side quests, bullshit. Like the way that I fall, I fall into both Fallout 3 and Oblivion is just like I will sit down and just get sucked in for hours at a stretch. And I hate only playing those games for a very short amount of time because it's so easy for me to get lost and playing them and not realize how much time has passed. Whereas playing mothership Zeta, I felt like I was very conscious of exactly how long I was playing the game and how much time it was taking to finish. If you really enjoy Fallout 3, I mean, it's still probably worth getting. There are some really great moments. It takes place in space and there's a point where you spacewalk on the UFO and you look off in the distance and you see the nuclear ravaged Earth and it's really amazing. You can also fire a death ray into the Earth and see like this orbital mushroom cloud float up and stuff like that. And there is also a ship-to-ship battle where like you and other people were at the helm of the spaceship, firing on another spaceship. Better be glad that motherfucker didn't blow up me. Is this, can you also get ammo for the alien blaster? More ammo if you've ran out. I think so. I just found. So when you get kidnapped, all your equipment is taken away and you're supposed to find it pretty much right away before you really get going, but I never did. So I was going through this mission like scavenging alien weapons and ammo. Sometimes that's fun and Fallout when you've had basically a fucking military base on your back. The thing I realize is that the aliens weapons suck against the aliens and take like 8 million hits to kill them. Is it all like energy weapons? Yes, it is all energy weapons. And it's just not, it gets to the point where I have to do 15 vats shots to someone's head to kill them if they have a shield up and it just, it began to feel like a grind and going back, I realized that if I had found my equipment, it would have been super easy. What level is your character? 29. Oh shit, so it's up there. Yeah. Doesn't stuff in Fallout like level with you though? Not to the degree that it did in Oblivion. Right. Like you'll, like certain levels will unlock different classes of creatures into the world, right? Yeah. And they do level up with you, but it doesn't seem. Basically, the problem in Oblivion with everything leveling up at the same rate as you is that you never really felt powerful and they didn't want that to be the case in Fallout. So stuff doesn't level up at the same rate that you do. So you can feel badass, but still be challenged every now and again. The ship is kind of cool, but it's just, it all just feels really repetitive. It feels enormous and not necessarily always in a good way. It does have a cool self-destruct thing or like a way to overload certain areas and cause explosions that are taken literally from the self-destruct sequence in Alien. Nice. Where it brings up the coolant thing and then you push down the three things and it causes it to overload and blow up, which I thought was cool. Yeah. Even though it's on an Alien ship, is there still like a central hub like a city or you know, of friendlies? Eventually you get to a point where you have to take out these three generators and three different parts of the ship and you'll have a central hub to pick which one you want to do in whatever order, but you don't spend a lot of time there. Okay. So there's no like a lot of time in all the DLC so far. It's like you meet, you know, characters that advance the storyline or, you know. I do like the way that in the fall, in the fall of DLC, they've managed to keep putting in little, little bonuses and perks in there for people who have taken certain conversation or game-based perks. Like I have Mysterious Stranger and Child at Heart as perks. So at one point, when I'm in a, when I'm right after I'm kidnapped and I'm put in the room with another person, we're talking about how we can get out of there and one of the conversation options is a Mysterious Stranger option. It says, "I might have a friend who might appear and help us out." And you find a little girl that has been wandering around the ship that's blonde, which I'm guessing is a reference to Aliens, that can help you and if you have the child at Heart option, you can talk to her and get her to show you where more stuff is. But it's just, it's really long and it feels long and it feels repetitive and I mean the nice thing is you can go back into it again, which is a nice thing that they did with Point Lookout is that you can always go back to the swamp, like you can always go back to the spaceship, but it's still, I mean, for me, Broken Steel is still the best DLC they've released and Point Lookout is number two. So many finish the Broken Steel stuff, what else have you been playing? Other than Fable 2, which has been talked about in games media enough, Trials HD, a little out of Trials HD today. And? The game has a punch in my balls. Hence the name. Hence the name Trials, Trials Your Patience, like Motherfucker. Elaborate? Well, I mean, you played a lot of Trials on PC, right? Yeah, it's true. So first off, what's the, what are the differences between Trials on 360? Oh, I don't think there really are differences besides maybe levels. I mean, are the graphics improved at all? No. Pretty much exactly the same as far as I can tell. I don't know, I think it's just different level design as far as I can tell, but I'm not positive. But I mean, it's a pretty basic looking game as it is, it's not like there's a lot going on. So... It's a very... I mean, I think that there are probably a lot of console gamers who have never played it. Do you feel like that's a safe assumption? I mean, how else would they've ever have played it if they're console gamers? Well, I mean, a lot of console gamers still have some access to PC games, but if you're not super into PC games... Well, then I wouldn't say that they're console gamers, they're just, I mean, that's not necessarily fair. Saying their console gamers tells me they don't have a PC at all. Okay, I feel like there's a lot of gamers that haven't had a chance to play this game. No, that's 100% true. I mean, a lot of people, I mean, I figured even amongst gamers, people that use Steam is probably cuts another large swath out of them, and really that's like the main place to acquire it. Is it on directed drive or anything like that? I don't know. As far as I know, it's only on Steam, but again, I could be wrong. If they wanted to make this game more frustrating, they could put like sound clips of like fucking Judge Judy or something, like make it more like Trials every time he mess ups and be like, "I'll talk back to me!" The only sound, it pretty much has no voice ever, except for your guy occasionally yelling out. Yeah, and a completely ridiculous voiceover at the beginning. I don't even know. I guess I had the volume too though. It's some like crazy hair metal voiceover type thing, like the music is really, really cheese rock and lame, but it totally fits with the game. But uh... Not Judge Judy. No, not too much for the Judge Judy. It's such a simple game and concept and such a complicated game and execution. Yeah, what do you mean by that? All you do is hit the right trigger for gas, the left trigger for breaks, and you tilt your guy forward or back, and that's it. And everything else is based on physics. So it's the sort of thing where you could give it to somebody who doesn't play many games, like say a Wii gamer, or somebody who's only got recently gotten into games and give it to them and they could be not intimidated by it, but... Yeah, to an extent, I'm sure, towards the end, later on, I really do think that there is certain innate abilities of people that play games that comes in quite handy in the later levels. Yeah, but I mean, but someone can still work their way up to that and maybe through sheer force of will stumble through those levels. Man, I doubt it. I don't know. See, when you get to hard, they become seriously different than even the end of medium becomes really hard. But then when you get into hard, it's like they're just parts that it doesn't even look like it's possible. Then when it happens, you're like, basically, on a lot of the hard levels, by the time I ended, I usually had tried 160+ times, because it keeps track of every time you hit B to reset yourself to the last checkpoint. I think the last level of medium I was doing super well all the way until the very last jump, and that took me 40 tries. It'll happen. You'll just get stuck in one part and then do, like, five, right after that, perfectly fine. In some ways, this game reminds me of just looking at it. Did you guys ever play California Games on Atari? There's a BMX section that was like... I'm sure that's exactly what it's like. It's growing, you know, but... except not exactly like it, because you have to do very precise jumps. Right, I mean, this is just totally like freestyling down a hill, but... I mean, it's so sadistic. Just that it'll put low-hanging beams somewhere so that your guy will catch his head on it and crash. Yeah, I mean, it's totally about how fast you can react if you can do it in a line, because all the things like how often you die and stuff contributes, I think, to how high you place on the leaderboards. So there's going to be some jedi's out there, I mean, a ton of people have already played it on PartnerNet, because I'm PartnerNet even. I was ranking, like, 500 and something a lot of times, so... Yeah. Alright. I mean, it's a lot of fun. It's definitely... is it 10 dollars? No, it's... I'm pretty sure it's 15. I think a explosion man was the cheapest, and then... Turtles in time is also... Turtles in time is what? Yeah, it got bumped down. It got bumped down to 10 dollars. It was 15. Which is what? 1200? Yeah. And then everything else is 1,600 points. Really? Yeah, isn't it like 1,600 points is $15, I believe? Yeah, 1,600 points is $20. Right, yeah. 800 points is 10. I wouldn't even buy Turtles in time for that much. Yeah. So... I thought it was a nice gesture for them to lower the price, though. Yeah. Yeah, someone in my work made a point that they think it was actually just an intentional marketing move. They never had any intention of charging. A 1200 points for it? No, not necessarily the worst thing they could have done. I'm just saying that it's not like it was actually Goodwill. There was never any Goodwill behind it. It was totally just a marketing ploy. That's what some people... Do you guys sense... Trials HD should be a 10 or $15? No, $15 for that is probably... Nope. It's fine. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, the game looks rad. You know, in some ways I'm more anxious to check that out than even Shadow Complex, which I kind of feel might be the one everyone's sort of excited about right now. I think it's definitely, in my opinion, more fun than Shadow Complex, if we were to sing which one will I have the most fun with? Having played both of them. I like Trials better than Shadow Complex so far from what I've played of each. So Trials is easy to jump in and out of Shadow Complex, I don't think it's... Shadow Complex is sort of outside of a lot of games that you've played before, isn't it? No. I've beaten both of the metroids on GBA and, you know, I've played a lot of games like that. Did you ever play through Super Metroid? No. Four shames. Both of the GBA metroids are pretty similar, so... The Super Nintendo one is harder. Have you played the GBA once? Yes. I... 'Cause I've played a lot of the Super Nintendo one. And I... I just asked you if you'd played the Super... No, all the way through. I said a lot of it, but I didn't play all the way through. So... I don't know... 'Cause that fucking... The... The... I'm trying to think which one it is, out of the two GBA ones. One of them is really, really hard, especially at the end. I can't think of what... Um... Zero Mission, is that... No, it's not Zero Mission. No, that's the remake, it's the one that's the one that's super easy. Yeah, it was the other one then. Fusion? Fusion. Hard, at the end. So... Anyways... So, Trials is a lot of fun. If you haven't played Trials before, you should at least... Play the demo. When it comes out next week. Would you say give the demo a trial? I was really trying to avoid saying that... Oh! The whole... The whole... The... Trials! And what else have you been playing? I think that's... That's pretty much it. I just started the Shimigami Tensei game on DS, but I haven't even gotten past the first wave of cinemas on that shit. So... Tyler, what have you been playing? Um... Yeah, I checked out this really cool community game that was gifted to us by listener. Group. Is that what you were giving us, the vocal play-by play on Saturday night? Yeah, yeah. So while you guys were playing through the Gears of War DLC, I was... Trying to narrate to you guys how badass I thought Groove was. Who's it made by? Do we know his name? Um... No. I... I don't know. Is it Groove spelled the way you think? Yeah, GROOV. Yeah, GROOV. Okay. Groove. Maybe there's no E at the end. I think there was. Yeah, yeah. Maybe there's no... I don't think there's an E at the end. It's an X and A community game. Uh-huh. Currently available to be purchased. Currently available. And yeah, I mean it was a... It's badass because I mean it's basically like a Geometry Wars clone, but it's... This one is just much more about the music of the game and the fact that all the enemies move to the rhythm of the music. They sort of pulse with the music and like your shots, you know, shoot and tempo. And so it's just the way the music and the gameplay come together and to me what I like about it is the sound. It kind of reminds me of sort of a modern 80s break dance track, you know, like some of the old school 80s break dancing, but it's real fun because I like Geometry Wars, but it's a little too hardcore for me. Like I'm not that skilled. My hand-eye coordination isn't that good and this game isn't too hard, you know? So I was getting in there and just having a lot of fun and the music was grooving. You know, I even busted some flows for you guys. Y'all probably were trying to... Yeah, I vaguely remember. Oh, right. That's why I don't remember anything from Saturday night because I blocked it out. That was probably the same random shit, but yeah, I liked it a lot and there's two extra modes to unlock that I'm trying to get. But you got to get a certain score to do it and I'm just not very good at those type of games. Oh, well. Maybe I can unlock it for you, Tyler. Maybe. How much is it, do you know? Man, it was really inexpensive. I think it was like two or three hundred points. I mean, I might be wrong, but it wasn't very expensive. I think they went in and lowered the minimum price that people could charge for community games or like the recommended price recently. But I mean, it was really good. I didn't get frustrated with geometry wars. Usually it does frustrate me quick. What else have you been playing? Is that it? Other than the, yeah, the Gears of War stuff and then the public commando, finish that up. If you guys didn't listen to Game Club yet, that was a rad episode. It is. With Tum Longo. Tum Longo. Team. Team. Okay. Evan, he's just excited that he got an action figure. Yeah. It's true. Uh... Tum Man. So I guess I played Batman Arkham Asylum for like two hours, man, and says I'm nine percent done with the game. Does that include collectibles? I'm sure. Probably. Oh, thank God. Oh, thank God. What? I don't... I just feel like... You played Mass Effect and loved it. Yeah, but for a game like Batman, like the game that I'm expecting Batman to be, if it were 19 or 20 hours or like 25 or 30 hours, I would just feel like... Mass Effect's pretty action-intensive, wouldn't you say? You can finish Mass Effect much more, much more quickly than I, I did. Yeah. Mass Effect is a much shorter game than one of your favorites. I mean, even in Batman, you really don't do that much straight out like hand-to-hand fighting. It's like they throw those in occasionally to break it up, but really, it's more stealth fighting. But there are occasional times that there's nowhere to hide. It's just you run into a room with six guys and... How is the combat? Like, could you describe the way the combat works? As far as I can tell, it kind of works like... Like Assassin's Creed where it's like... You know, one main attack button, you hit X, and then you'll like get like the fucking equivalent of Spider Sense that tells you like, "Hey, this guy's about to swing." And when that happens, you hit Y, and you'll immediately counter. So if the guy does like a big old sweeping sidekick, if you hit Y, throw a time you like catches leg and then punch him in the stomach and let him go, or like if the guy is coming from you behind with the weapon, you hit Y, you'll like grab the bar in mid-air, take it and like hit him in the face with it, and then drop the bar and keep fighting. It's just like, the counter is there just for as long as you're watching it with your peripheral like, attention, you can tell like, "Oh, okay, I need to hit Y now, now." And the camera is usually in a good position if you're... Yeah, the camera kind of... The camera goes up a little bit, so... Okay. That's good. Like the thing I liked about the combat mask, or, and I almost said mass mass... Massasson's creed. Massasson's creed. I think... Molasses creed. Yeah, the thing I liked about the combat and assassin's creed was how rhythmic it was and how non-massy it was, and it sounds like this is actually is really similar. Yeah, like fluid. This one is still fluid, but I would say it's more matchy than a rhythm, because you're still just swinging, swinging, swinging, and then as long as you hit Y at the right times you counter, like it's not like you have to sit there and be like one, two, counter, one, two, counter. It's not like that at all. It's just like, punch, punch, punch, punch, punch. And you don't even have to counter if someone's coming from behind if you just like throw a punch in the right direction at the right time. That's the same thing. It's just the counters like, and for sure you're gonna not take damage. Is this sort of like, fable then? I guess. But I mean, way more badass looking and way more fast. Obviously. So the whole game takes place in Arkham Asylum, right? Yeah, but Arkham Asylum is not just like one building. It's an island. It's an island, and it's more like a college campus where there's like separate buildings. Okay. So like, it's like one thing I wanted to ask is, is it a completely linear experience, or is it sort of the whole island is up in here? I don't know, like there was like one part I did where I had to, I had to save three people. And when I had to save them, I did it like in whatever order I wanted. Right. Is it a level based? No, it's just you're constantly going, going, then you hit checkpoints, but it's one experience. There's never like, as far as I can remember, there's like the only time there's like refloding between like Batman opening a door into a new area. Right. But even then. Can you always go backwards or? Yeah, unless, unless the door gets locked behind you. So it's pretty, it is linear. It's very much a guided experience. But you still have the ability to explore areas. It's just very often there will only be one unlocked door. It's sort of straddling a lot of genre lines actually. Yeah, it's pretty much a, it's pretty much a stealth brawler. I would say it's got brawler parts, got stealth parts. That's pretty much the entirety of the game. That's pretty much the genres, it straddles. Because when you're not doing the stealth things, you're just brawling. And then beyond that, I mean, it has some platforming, I guess, to it, but a lot of. It's detective elements. A lot of stealth people, a lot of stealth games do have, you know, some type of platforming at some point where they're shimming or stuff like that, you don't really. I really wish that games would stop having shimming. You aren't interested. It's just for the sake of shimming. It's so stupid. In the Batman thing, the only reason it's there a lot of times is to hide. Like you're hanging by your fingers. Right, that's fine. And that's fine. But it's just like, it's become such an obligatory thing in 3D action games, like, from fucking God of War to Ninja Gaiden to fucking every other third person action game. It's like, well, why don't we just have like a chasm here with a pipe over it that he's got to like swing arm over arm or something? Maybe that's where they, maybe that's where they mask their loading. It could be, but it's really fucking annoying and well, they could just have you ride an elevator for a long period of time. True. They could. Hey, I'm not going to defend Mass Effect's elevator sequence. But the voice acting's really good. It's like the guy that does Batman is from the anime series, Joker's Mark Hamill. The girl that does Harley Quinn is the girl from the show and. Arlene Sorkin. Yeah, and then I think Commissioner Gordon might be the same too, but I'm not sure. I mean, it's basically all animated cast, right? Yeah, there's some that aren't though, for sure. Who? I don't know. But I know Ryan was telling me that it's not 100% everyone. So. I mean, Poison Ivy isn't Poison Ivy from the anime series. That could be. I'm not sure. But yeah, it's really good so far from what I've played. I mean. It's good, man. It's good to hear a good Batman and it is like when you're doing like melee combat, it's pretty hard to die because since you can counter so easy, but when guys have guns and it outlines them different to let you know that they have a firearm, guys with guns can kill you pretty easy. So like if you're in a room with five guys and you get seen and they all know where you are and you can't really get away and hide, they can kill you in like three seconds, like it is no joke. You die super quick, which is kind of interesting. I mean, it's the checkpoint system. Checkpoint system is really good. Yeah. It pretty much check points anytime you enter another room. I mean, I'm not necessarily asking for infamous, but. Bring it. Which had the infamous had the most friendly checkpoint system I've ever seen in the game. Oh. Yeah. I mean. It's going to take five steps like checkpoint. This game is this game super friendly with the checkpoints as well. Oh, did you punch a guy once? Checkpoint. Yeah. Right. So. Yeah. I mean, it's welcome. It's pretty good, you know, and you can do a lot of upgrading with like your bat suit. Or your batarangs, or give yourself new abilities to take guys down. So. Are you going to be buying it? Yeah. I. You saw that it's on sale on Amazon right now, right? Yeah. Yeah. Is that is it coming out September or is that August 25th, August, is it the twenty five? I don't know. Whatever that Tuesday is. Cool. It's occupying the Bioshock position that's yeah, that's what I was thinking like it's coming out at around the same time and good thing it wasn't scheduled for September. It might not be coming out for next year. Yeah. No, there was no way Batman wasn't going to come out this year. I mean, I already missed one release date in July. Good point. So. The fuck we should be playing Batman already. Yeah. I mean, I probably just needed a little bit of the extra time for optimization would be my guess is what they needed it for. Like I think the gameplay and stuff has been there for a long time, the level design, but getting certain frame rates to work well. Unreal Engine 3. How does the game look? Yeah, it looks like an unreal game. People are shiny in a lot of ways like, you know, the way you look at characters and gurus of war. And they always look like maybe someone applied like a thin layer of Vaseline on them and their face and stuff. It's kind of got that going on a lot of times with the people. So they don't, they look good. I don't know. But I thought numerous Batman villains in the short span that I played. I'm not sure. The art style, like the way that they just designed their characters in general looks like everybody is on steroids or something. I'm really not sure. I feel about some of the redesigns they did for that game. Well, even in the animated series, everyone looked like they were on steroids. Everyone had like the broadest shoulders of all time. I just mean stuff like Harley Quinn's new outfit is kind of weird. She says as much that it's a new outfit when you first see her. And just pandering and I don't know. Pandering what? It's just like the stereotypical like the stereotype of the gamer fetish gothical elated type outfit that seems completely unnecessary. As opposed to her in a skin tight gestures outfit. As opposed to her in the outfit that she's always been in. As a skin tight gesture outfit. She still has it going on. I just think because she has a skirt. Fishnet stockings and giant boots, if you heard that, that was not actually Anthony. I think honestly, it still looks like Harley Quinn, like it doesn't. I don't know. I saw it in the game. It seemed perfectly fine, especially when you just see the way everyone else looks like the way she's designed fits in with kind of what everyone else is wearing. The Joker reminds me of Mr. Burns in some ways. I think it's his nose. Yeah. See, I don't know. It's necessarily pandering. It's kind of more like them going with the way everyone else was kind of designed differently. The Joker looks different in a way, but I like the way he looks too. And they did a really good job with things like when you first drive at Arkham and he's like bound into this electric chair, like an electric moving chair. He's always just staring at you the whole time. No matter who he's talking to, he'll just follow you with his eyes the whole time. And so it's kind of unnerving. Which is appropriately creepy and unnerving. Yeah. Yeah, some photos of some screenshots of Bane as well. They've been releasing him screenshots. Yeah. My character made for Unreal Engine 3 really. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He looks cool too. Fun. Yeah. What else? I don't know. I played some Trine, which you should get on Steam if you haven't. Trine. Yeah. It's like a fantasy game. You've generated like a storybook and you and two other people get fused into this gem where your souls are all bound together. You're bound together by the Trine. And then you can switch in between them. So like one's like a wizard who can levitate shit. One's like a thief who can jump high and shoot arrows and then a third is a warrior. And you just switch between them as you're going through these like 2D, like 3D rendered but 2D platforming levels. So like you might get to a spot where there's like a spike bed but there's a box up above you. So you'll use like the wizard to levitate the box into the spikes so there's like a platform for the thief to jump to stuff like that. But it's a got really clever physics puzzles. It's very physics based and it's pretty cool. And I don't know how much it is, but I think it's 30 bucks on Steam. Well. That's one of the reasons I've been holding off is because it's supposed to be 20 on PS3. Yeah. It's fairly long from what I understand, so. And certain things on PS3, I wonder how they'll work. Like I think a lot of it will work just fine. Basically the wizard part is the only part that might work weird on the PS3 because the wizard so much of it is like mouse movement. Whether you're levitating things and moving them around real quick plus moving the mouse to what you want to levitate really quick because there are times that having the ability to move things really fast matters because like as the wizard you can levitate boxes and like drop them onto enemies. It's the only way you can basically defend himself. And then like our. Maybe that's why it's been delayed. He can create boxes, but the way you create boxes is you have to draw a square with the mouse. So it's like, I don't know how you do that on the stick quite as fast because sometimes you have to do it really fast because he can only summon one box at a time. And when you summon a second box, it disappears. The first one disappears after like two seconds. So there's a way you can staircase them if you're really fast, but you have to be really fast. So. Is that required ever? To get certain special items. Yeah. Like not that not that you need them is collectibles. Yeah. So. What about little King's story? Did we talk about that last week? We did talk about it. I just I finished it and I did not like the final series of boss fights. I saw that your review was a 3.5 out of 5. It's a good. That is a good rating. It's a good. It is lower than the rating I expected you to give Mr. Gagas. Yeah. The the having to go back to a save point to save is like a big no no of game design these days to me in any game. I don't care what it is. I should not have to go back to a save point when I want to save like you know think about an infamous like every time you'd wanted to save it was like get back to the center of town. Yeah. It's called Dead Rising. Yeah. It's called it's called old game design that some Japanese developers refuse to let go of looking story the prime example that and so which is I mean is kind of appropriate considering that it feels like a game from last gen and pretty much every regard. Yeah. I mean that's the other thing. It was like really bothered me that they didn't use the Wii stuff at all like no shaking controls like which is fine. I didn't have to have that but I'm saying like I don't need waggle but give me some fucking pointing. Yeah being able to point at the target you want your guys to attack rather than just like ain't pointing the stick in that direction would have worked so much better like than just your guys going out the way you're facing. It's not like this game came out at launch or something. No it came out right now and like you know having just played Overlord Dark Legend like I liked Overlord a lot. I knocked that one because it was just so stupidly easy but it had like the best like moving your minions around type control of any of the Overlord games and it's like why would you take it for being easy? 'Cause it was like stupidly easy to the point where like the hard parts were like it was like I could have beaten it without even looking at the screen type. Did it make it less fun? Yeah. Sometimes. That's fair though. For people that play video games I just don't think you would have as much fun because it'd just be like you basically close your eyes and beat it. You know it's kind of like when I was playing J.A. Joe for DS like that game is another game that is stupidly easy and I do knock it for it because there's something about like when the enemies are so bad that at some point it becomes less time consuming to just run past them because they can't hurt you than to actually sit there and fight them which is what I ended up doing to beat the level last night. I just never stopped them, fought them, just ran right past them all, got to the objective ran past them all again. For the entire mission? For 90% of the only time that I would ever hit them is if they got in my way of the beeline I was doing so they were just so so bad but that's what I'm saying so sometimes there is a thing is as too easy like maybe a person that thinks they have to sit here and shoot all these guys would have trouble because they'd actually stop but they're just like so badly designed but yeah another thing I didn't like about a little king story was that so much of it is designed around the fact that when you first fight a boss you're going to die a couple of times. Yeah the trial and error gameplay design. And I don't like that if my opinion like it should be like a skill set that you learned and if you're that good you should be able to do it first try. It should always be possible to be a boss. Yeah and I didn't really feel like a lot of these bosses were possible in the first try. I've pretty much. Yeah so the stuff you were describing to me just seemed insane like when you were telling me Alice had to tell you that you needed to use the show. Oh yeah well then there's that stuff like it doesn't really have a tutorial that walks you through anything like there's a guy you can talk to but I just kind of feel like that's kind of something that games like maybe that's just me again this is my personal experience with it. But there's a subset of gamers that are aggressively in favor of that shit like a lot of people defended Stalker for its lack of handling they can defend it all they want. I choose to be on the other side of that coin for I think on the reasonable side. I think that there should be a tutorial make it skippable if you want. But I think that it's just a good idea he is having to talk to a person of your like kingly court to get all your things like oh I unlocked a new class. What does that do? Let me talk to this guy. It's like just a step that I don't feel like I should have to take us and then you know there was like some shit that's like straight out of view of a piñata except not cute like where it's like a yeah and like to get this class you have to be sitting on your throne at midnight but only after unlocking this and it's like stuff that you would only know from looking at a strategy guy. Yeah like I'm in or knowing magic so it's like you know I just I did not think stuff like that was very good and like why developers wrap these games with kid friendly graphics in our thousands. Yeah I mean this is a it's a teen rated game yeah like it's not an E for everyone game. That could be because of the black creatures that you murder and I'm almost I wouldn't be surprised if I had those are designed after Japanese demons. I know. They're called oni and I actually think that they designed them to be cute because they want that's like that's like their answer to raving rabbits like they sell little stuff dolls of them I think so I mean the game's good it still is a good game I still think that like for people like that Oh no we and are looking for a more engaging game that's made for people that really play games and not for like families I mean this is still one of those but uh it just like fills a fills a hole in the Wii software lineup. You just got to be ready to just be like save often go back to your save point and save like those annoying things fight some bosses that are absurdly difficult how long was it it took me 23 hours clocked not counting all the times I died and lost my saves so like 26 probably or yeah or more yeah I don't know it's it's very long so and it had it's got a lot of grind to it like harvest moon type grinder you know animals crossing sort of grind how do you like it have like a weird left behind kind of thing yeah I mean the game deals with like a lot of weird adult themes like of whether it's apocalypse there's an apocalypse you have to deal with and there's a priest in your town all the time that's always talking about God and stuff and and you know people will get on your case because you're a polygamist you marry a bunch of people or like do you have to yeah every time you take out a king you take their princess for your wife I think there's it doesn't say do you want to brutal and then uh just as a some brave heart shit I'm gonna spoil something because neither you guys are gonna play it so I'm gonna spoil something you don't want to hear a little spoiler in the story it's ultimately not important but uh you totally at the end you get seven letters of divorce from all your wives because they all decide they hate that you're married to multiple women so and you'll get random letters in your inbox all the time that's like an mbc public service announcement more you know you'll get like letters in your inbox from citizens all the time that are like uh hey we just wanted to let you know that uh what you've been doing is really great or hey we just want to know that you're like a really shitty king like your kingdom smells really bad and we hate you it's like okay thank you that bears know like alright story time to start the public beating campaign yeah that's the other thing is in the back of the box it talks about like how you can be like this ruthless dictator and stuff but I didn't really see an option for that like I never saw like a way to like just make my people extremely unhappy with me I don't know like you couldn't go around town beating them or you could tax them but I never saw anyone get mad at me for taxing them so I don't really know what you have to do to like piss people off maybe it's something like completely random wait in a tree stroke of seven thirty yeah and I mean there's stuff like that in a lot of games to be fair like even oblivion had stuff like that in it right but it wasn't things that were like important true like the best class how to get the best class in the game or something can only ever have one wizard and I never got a wisp but reminds me of final fantasy tactics actually so yeah it's pretty good I don't know I'm not I have no regrets about playing it but like I said my review there are times at the final boss that if it wasn't my job I don't know that I would have finished it because it just becomes stupidly hard and annoying tedious and tedious I don't know if I played very much else I feel like that's a lot I talked about trying Batman and Little King story but I guess in the last week in the Gears of War and then oh I tried some broken sword to which is the sequel to the DS game that's out for what's we and yes broken sword one special edition so broken sword two is actually cool it has full voice acting you can get a good old game to like nine ninety nine and it's actually fully backwards compatible and it works great like that blew my mind because you know a lot of those other things you have to have special engines and stuff this just does it all itself do you're I'm free I like good old games a lot so thank you for a game over get Greco I think that donated that to me I don't know I think his name is Blameful Gecko on Twitter can't remember but he gave that to me so so far it's good although a little bit hard and it doesn't have the hint system that most adventure games are doing these days so that's kind of a did you play any more monkey island I've played a little bit more of monkey island special edition since I bought it from my iPhone I was game that makes great use of the iPhone like the way you access the menu there isn't a button you press you tilt the phone to access the menu vertically and then horizontally it turns it back to the game and uses like double touch slide your fingers two fingers at once you want to switch between old and new mode and then I showed Tyler also the doom resurrection game official yeah which is like a a first person shooter it's a guided shooting experience yeah it's it gets more like a it's it's a it is on rails but it's not quite a light gun game because you still are like a guy with a gun it's kind of similar to dead space like extraction we yeah except you have less control over how you move I guess even like you can all you can do is you tilt the phone for how you want to aim and touch on the screen like to pull the trigger and reload but it's not quite the same as like the shitty like Silent Hill game where it was like literally you touch where you want to shoot it's not like a total like ungame and then you know I don't know I guess I've been playing with iPhone games about Oregon Trail that's okay but uh did you see the the video on Oregon Trail from the fuck the megas 64 guys oh yeah no I have not yeah I saw that one it's a good one every time somebody uses my name in Oregon Trail like I always get severely injured like I never die just get injured or sick like you're the guy with polio for the rest of your life or who I break my leg and like when we're trying to forward the river or whatever um I really do feel like there's been more that I played but I can't think of it I've been talking for a while turtles in time played that nothing special Ryan gave it a 2.5 out of 5 because all this is like updated graphics compared to like all the other like remade games like HD remakes and stuff that had all these new features like turtles in time literally it's just like slept on graphics in the same game and biggest strike against it a rearrange from the levels and stuff actually and not that I noticed biggest strike against it though is you can't continue you get the amount of lives you get and if you die like on the eighth mission start all over to be fair it does add challenge to it I mean a lot of people would bitch if it had if it continues it had no challenge me when I buy those games I that is crazy like I at least give me the option to turn it on and off yeah you play for them just to just play through with my friends yeah like me and Ryan ended up having to turn it on easy which as far as I can tell just means that you start with nine lives instead of six so you have like more lives to make it there with wow yeah it was pretty brutal but I don't know so far out of the summer of our kid games which I've played them all like that's like definitely hands down the weakest one it doesn't even have the music dinnin and that dent dent in it it's not in it I got that fucking hurt me I don't feel like that was in turtles in time well I guess it sucked back then too I mean a lot of those games just aren't very good like people's people were just so nostalgic for them that they have like the nostalgic goggles on that they can't really see past the limitations and all that stuff what was the western game that was like it had gun sense that writers you could be the Mexican with the the poncho and the poncho and the shotgun yeah it's cool sense that writers a good game how do I see that in like a video store where I grew up next to Street Fighter II what was that Nintendo game called that was like as like vertically scrolling game and when you fired your pistols they like went out like you they're shot like right or left or straight and you could get horses and ride on those two no I never played that game no you guys first thought you were describing commando but then you were talking about horse cowboys alright so we can take a break yep and then we'll come back and talk about what about delays delays delays there's been a lot of those this this is a a recording yeah we're rolling we're rolling oh my god so instead of dealing with two topics this week I think that we're only going to do with one because we don't really have enough time it's been kind of late so I think we're gonna start with a or we're gonna we're gonna talk about delays this week I'm sorry I'm just killing time only at the new walks around the apartment give her a real toy to fight and say there we go give her something else to murder to better doesn't bleed cute little octopus toy it is so basically the question for people was name a game that they feel will have benefited from its delay into next year and name a game that is probably in trouble now that it's been delayed since all these delays including the delay today for Starcraft 2 until next year have made next year kind of crowded and back it up with a three paragraph essay right I can tell you do tomorrow was darks darksiders was that originally planned for this fall or was that always planned for next year I feel like that was actually the darksiders get delayed as well so next year it's next year darksiders is definitely coming out next year and that that's one that I mean anything like whoop through the cracks dark boy could possibly be through the cracks I don't know dark void has been in production for so long it has but what I yeah but what I mean is when you look at the games that are coming out in the first quarter of next year just what people are going to be the most excited for this just so much insanely good shit coming out that maybe they should just hold dark void to like next summer well he's talking about dark ciders next time a dark void dark void and dark siders I think those are two that are going to suffer really more than one video game would dark in the title hmm hmm what else what else were the ones that you thought would actually a benefit from it because originally I was going to say I thought red dead redemption would benefit from it when it was like the only game coming out but now I'm like maybe I'll push back it to summer too I was gonna say I bet red dead doesn't make quarter I'm gonna see a second wave of delays into summer of next year I think so I guarantee yeah I was gonna bring that up that I think a lot of those games are gonna get pushed to if they're smart a lot of those games are gonna get pushed even a I mean it's not delayed but alien versus predators got confirmed for February of next year sure did so it's like the beginning of next year is pretty I don't I feel like alien versus predator will be okay I what I was wondering to myself today is whether or not alien versus predator is gonna kill any buzz whatsoever for colonial Marines should that game ever come out because alien versus predator is you know colonial Marines with predators to you know a lever is alien versus predators not like colonial Marines at all though yes it is why have you seen the trailer it has fucking colonial Marines pulse rifles in a setting that is extremely reminiscent of aliens right but colonial Marines is not the same game because colonial Marines takes place with you working with a squad of humans true but a lot of the appeal is the subject matter and I'm just wondering if alien versus predator being out right but colonial Marines you're just playing as a marine the whole time and in the alien versus predator games they've always made a point to make it where you play all three yeah and I understand that but what I'm saying is that there's only a certain amount of interest for that property yeah colonial Marines coming out next year I understand that there's only a certain amount of interest but I'm just saying that they're not the same game no but I think that they they're going after a similar audience and I'm wondering how much people like aliens I mean considering that every other game is ripping off aliens on a regular basis already anyway well colonial Marines I doesn't have a release date yeah that yeah that's the gearbox one well I thought to the alien I thought that one and the aliens RPG got canceled no just alien RPG is officially an RPG is done okay gearbox is insistent the colonial Marines work continues so yeah you know gearbox is usually late with their stuff anyway I mean we might be I don't know but I think aliens versus predators gonna be like next year's UFC it's just gonna be hot property I think a lot of people are gonna be into it yeah I'd be I think it's gonna be like one of those like runaway success like what's it doing at the number one spot I think the thing that concerns me with the only risk predator and also with anything else that Sega is releasing early next year is Sega has really dropped the ball repeatedly on marketing their stuff on getting awareness out there and really selling it and and now that they're in a a debtor what they thought was a debtor period that might have helped provide examples of where they dropped the ball for people not in the know it's not about people in the know like it I people need to understand the developers don't really give a fuck about how aware the enthusiast community is about their games it's about the broader community that's what I'm saying I'm saying for people that don't have examples that exactly what I'm saying house that I'd overkill there you go basically any game Sega has released the sheer well that's what I wanted was examples for people that weren't sure what you meant but gold max B strider condemned to condemned one right there you go that's always asking you to do okay um I just they don't really have the it doesn't seem like they have the the wherewithal to really market a game and get its awareness out there like in all this console generation unless it's Mario and Sonic at the Olympics and that's Nintendo doing a happy lifting yeah and all in all honesty when you got Mario and Sonic there's not much yeah legwork to be done there um so I guess we'll we'll go with some comments from from listeners and and talk about those porn store stiffy says dark void will benefit from the delay it's shaping up to be a real nice game whatever extra time they can use to fix small things will make this game even better I disagree I think it's gonna get buried I think it's gonna be an IP a lot of people don't recognize and I think that a lot of the other titles that are coming out are just much more exciting and people are gonna look over I that's fair the the state I saw it in a comic-con it still looked really rough the frame rate wasn't there the controls were really awkward one thing it's got going for is multi-platform you know so I don't know that that's different from most games now though I mean including most a lot of the games that have gotten delayed well I mean and well okay yeah I was just thinking of like how great of a game infamous was and how everybody even though it had a lot of marketing and a lot of critical buzz it didn't do as well as even like prototype which was yeah critically I mean prototype was such a perfectly marketed game if we talk about how Sega can't market anything to save their lives Activision on the other hand can sell garbage to people what do you think that they did write with prototype because I'm thinking in my mind like I remember seeing prototype posters but well we don't have TV yeah I guess where the commercials were pro yeah there are a lot of commercials for prototype and there are a lot of posters and and also just knowing their demographic for that game by having a hoodied guy with no one to answer to that's destroying everything around him with lots of blood and violence and the F word yeah whereas infamous is T-rated and it's got sort of a a indie graphic novel sensibility to it in a lot of spots and it's from a developer that that is less well known probably like or is more well known for something completely different and your graphic novel in the parts with like the cutscenes yeah and just like the story vibe to it it felt like like not it felt like a superhero comic but say a dark horse superhero comic or some other company other than the big two or even image although these days isn't dark horse owned by one of the big two I think so I thought they were and I could be wrong I'm not sure though no Wildstorm is owned by DC and Vertigo is owned by DC so he suggests the dark void will benefit from the delay I could I more development time for that game could be good yeah I don't know that's when I haven't played he says red steel - will be screwed no matter how many times it gets pushed back the first game sucked and the second one looks to be more the same crap but it'll end up selling well anyhow just like a shitty title on the way I guess I don't know that I don't know that read that the whole question was what game is going to be screwed by delays and I don't think red steel will be screwed by delays yeah so I mean he pretty much contradicted his own yeah like I'm sure they could delay it as much as they want and won't necessarily make it a good game I mean it is surprising that I got pushed back but I guess some people are saying that the controls just weren't there this is gonna say maybe the motion plus stuff wasn't coming the way they wanted it to I mean everyone got that stuff pretty late to be fair really yeah I mean Nintendo the the stuff they showed for Wii Sports Resorts last year at E3 were tech demos that's all they had yeah I know I just wonder when the when the devs themselves got it you know after E3 last year really how do you know that it's it's been reported that that's when they got it oh I just assume they get into like prototype phases I can't pull a hyperlink out of my brain right now no I just gonna say I just know I just never read that anywhere I just always wonder because I always figure they get these tech people like when they're in like prototype phases to give people working with it for interest Nintendo sort of has a history of springing things on third parties people talk about oh third parties are bigger on the Wii but honestly Nintendo is just as hostile with third party developers as they've always been except for EA EA has the a sports active which is huge the second coming on on the Wii yeah you heard that they delayed the HD version of Grand Slam Tennis to get out the fall up to yeah sports active this Christmas right uh-huh yep why not um train so yeah I mean I don't I don't know that Red Steel 2 will be boned by the delay because it doesn't seem like it's got a lot of shooter competition on the Wii yeah I don't know I'm sure it'll be fine it's coming back in with the motion plus as well and and and to be fair to the guys point about Darkwood I'm not saying the game will suffer I'm saying it's how it will perform in the marketplace yeah I mean that's that's basically what we're saying is how it will perform as opposed to how good or bad it will be yeah um although that can factor into how it will perform um Ziax says uh Bioshock 2 might benefit which is correct when we can get to that in a second he says Darkwood will suffer he says it's not a big name really getting it out early and getting word of mouth would be good for it um as I mean that's a totally valid point in Darkwood 2 could be in trouble but I don't feel like coming out this year would have been necessarily good for it either because it just doesn't be ready yeah that's true and similarly Bioshock 2 will probably benefit because it just wasn't going to be finished like 2k just keeps bringing on developers for that game to finish it well different parts of it right isn't like they're each one we're doing different things no I'm just saying isn't like one doing multiplayer what's the third one there are five studios on that game okay so what are they doing like a multiplayer multiplayer testing oh wow uh single player we've met people from the studio doing cutscenes for that game oh that's right yeah if you're out there doing all everything was broken down like that yeah it is outsourced like crazy a lot of games that makes me nervous a lot of games I'm not saying that's a good thing but I'm saying a lot of games these days outsource a lot of things whether it's testing or like different platforms or yeah it's a pretty common thing but five developers on one title is I don't know if it's a record but it's definitely up there chefs in the kitchen um but I mean the alternative would be Bioshock 2 coming out and being that much worse this year I mean and going up against Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Halo would not have been good for it like Bioshock 1 came out at such an opportune time to be successful um yeah although I wonder if like do you think because too having the name that it does do you think it really like I don't know do you feel like it goes up against Call of Duty if it were to come out in the same month other than it's just like coming up against it in the sense that I have 60 dollars which way will I spend it because it kind of seems like it's like a like for people that want Bioshock they'll get it one way or another rather than like the Bioshock 2 is not in as good a position as Bioshock 1 because it's being met with a lot more skepticism uh I feel like Bioshock 1 was an example of a game that succeeded because of the critical response and hype behind it right I still and in Bioshock 2 doesn't have any of that but I think Bioshock sorry good time oh no I was saying like also I think the fact that Bioshock 1 came out in August it had all those months leading up to the holiday season you know to get hype for better selves I guess the thing is that maybe in some ways Bioshock 2 will do just like Bioshock 1 did based on critical reception I think if it comes out and it's like hey guess what it actually is good then people are like all right I'll buy it but I can't see it doing like initially super well because of that skepticism I mean it could have long legs Bioshock did pretty well over time I think is Bioshock 2 the one that they're they have really high hopes for the sales numbers on day one they're like between five and eight million units across all platforms damn that is a lot yeah that is way more than Bioshock 1 I don't think that's gonna happen what did GTA 4 do did it do I want to say they're 4 million GTA 4 did like 8 or 9 million units across all platforms okay not including PC yeah so I mean Grand Theft Auto 4 sold really well yeah um and I think it's probably almost at 9 now Call of Duty 4 sold more than 10 I think yeah Halo 3 sold more than 7 on 360 alone so yeah I didn't know that I mean I knew it did well I didn't know that it sold that many though wow um Joe Hansick says Bayonetta is screwed because it now may be up against both Dante's Inferno and God of War 3 and Sega won't put the marketing push behind Bayonetta the EA and Sony will behind their properties yeah seriously if the game is practically done why not leave it in Q4 there's nothing like it in Q4 first of all Q3 is where people want their games because Q3 is September to December yeah for five for this week people just think that the quarter four ends at December though yeah because in in our world in reality land that's where that's the fourth quarter of the year that um I agree I think we talked about this a little bit on the podcast last week but uh but it's awfully crowded with that kind of game yeah I almost feel it next year I almost feel like if Bayonetta came out in this like even in a totally different month it wouldn't matter because I don't feel like people that go looking for Dante's Inferno are the same people that would like maybe go in and be like oh check out this Bayonetta game I think there's a lot of crossover with that audience because it's a third-person character-based action game yeah I just don't feel like uh that the character from Bayonetta has nearly the appeal that and that's that a buff dude with the need of like a crazy red trench coat I actually think that it's probably not going to be in that respect Bayonetta is aimed at gamers because it's it's TNA with guns right I just don't know that like I'm thinking of like people that aren't like us that aren't the standard people that go in with the know with like the knowledge they're the people that go in and throughout the year they get that year's Call of Duty that year's Madden that year's God of War yeah I'm like I'm thinking I'm thinking like are they gonna go in there and if they saw like Dante's Inferno or Bayonetta like or even if they walked in there and just saw Bayonetta one month they probably just look at him being right yeah I mean yeah a perfect sample like my buddies are exactly like that and uh you know I have a really good friend who played through um played through uh Devil May Cry and he played through a little bit of God of War and enjoyed those games but I can't imagine him looking at the cover of Bayonetta and seeing the girl and being like oh I get to be a chick badass I think you know he's like nope that uh that if Bayonetta were releasing this year without a bunch of competition in the same genre that the enthusiast audience would go for Bayonetta if that game released in October or November here or maybe even December there's not a lot like it that's competing right but when it's releasing sandwich between Dante's Inferno which is probably gonna be January, February and God of War 3 which is gonna be March or April because every God of War game has come out in February or March um yeah both of those two are gonna demolish it yeah I mean that because they both got hooks like God of War 3 is fucking God of War 3 and Dante's Inferno has the EA marketing machine behind it and I mean Dante's Inferno like people are curious about it and I really do think that critical reception to Dante's Inferno is going to start turning positive as the months progress because most of the people I know that have like if go read previews on sites and they're all generally generous the general impression amongst people is that the games media has been extremely skeptical about Dante's Inferno. I guess when you listen to people talk about it on podcasts it's different because when people tend to write previews they tend to hedge their bets a little bit and give things a benefit of a doubt and talk more positive if you go read previews everyone sounds like they're like this is gonna be some hot shit but yeah it's the same guardedly optimistic tone of every preview now right I mean on podcast people are more seem more willing to to cut the bullshit and get straight to how they feel about things uh and people seem skeptical of Dante's Inferno and to be fair that EA marketing machine that's so huge and powerful has been fucking up marketing on Dante's Inferno since May fucking up I don't know if I don't know if I would say that it's staging a religious protest well how is that fucking that mark on it's just bad publicity I think it leads to people like us but I'm saying who knows how it resonates with like right other people like it's right outside of the enthusiast press have any idea that that even happened true yeah or that the booth but I guess I guess I can see what you're saying right like how many of the people that go and read sites like Kotaku games buy one up like how many of them really see that religious thing and they're like that's offensive and stupid I don't think how many of them are how many of them are like teenage kids that are like cool I I don't know I feel like gamers are more likely to feel like their intelligence has been insulted whether or not it has and I think you and me give you give gamers a bill out bigger benefit I don't think gamers care about the Dante's Inferno booth babe contest thing is not saying I just think that the gamers are people too and with the exception of people that listen to our show they are they are all humans and groups of humans are fucking idiotic what I'm saying is just the fact that both of those marketing stunts generated so many blog posts so many you know so what you're saying is that press is still good press exactly I mean that's you know comments I doubt EA agrees with that I mean especially I'm sure it's a hard time getting dead space and mirrors edge off the ground last year with the positive but they didn't have any like crazy snafus right but yeah I don't know and again I mean going back to what I was saying last week there were definitely people that that were sort of off the record muttering about who EA has chosen to to lead their marketing push for Dante's Inferno but that notwithstanding yes bayonetta is going to get it's it's pretty little teeth kicked in sandwich between god of or three and Dante's Inferno next year although I have a feeling like is if they could get that game moving in front of people's like if they can get video of that game in front of people I think people will recognize it's the devil may cry it's the next gen up double played don't my cry and sees it should be like oh but I mean the last devil may cry didn't sell that well that's true and if it's sandwiched between ultra violent game with demons and ultra violent game with mythological Greek creatures I mean if the and titties titties in both that you're not playing as I just for today yeah I mean I hand the storyline I'm going to just take a wager that the story line in both Dante's Inferno and god of war is more interesting than the storyline of bayonetta I'm just fucking that just call that an educated guess you're an asshole but you're correct asshole you know she's saying have you seen a devil may cry storyline people ask someone sent me an email about why I hate devil may cry or why I thought it was like a dumb too easy or something I never I don't think I ever said I think you just said it didn't interest you yeah I played it I thought it was just I boring it's dumb like the especially the first one like with the puzzles would be like you got the blue gym like it was a survival horror game and then it would be like do you want to put the because it was a survival horror game do you want to place on a prototype for Resident Evil but but it wasn't a survival horror in the sense that there was no horror and it wasn't very hard to survive and there wasn't like at least in Resident Evil you had to like sometimes solve puzzles and that game would be like do you want to put the blue gym in the blue gym hole or do you want to not proceed with the game like it would still ask you questions like that but people but also the storyline those games are so dumb I forget which one it is that opens up with like a guy in like an office and the fucking wall crashes in that's and someone drives on him with a motorcycle or some bullshit and like death comes in while he's eating a pizza and he's like driving a motorcycle around in the office and stuff and I was just like oh jesus it's like the same reason I turned off Metal Gear Solid 3 when someone drove a motorcycle up another person into the flip I was like dude if you ran into some of your motorcycle it wouldn't be that you would drive up them you would just fucking flatten them we just have this conversation all the time though we'll be watching a movie and you'll just say dead yes you'd be fucking dead and it just just shattered his jaw little shit like that can drive me so insane especially in a game like Metal Gear that tries to be like right serious and realistic or how like how light that motorcycle would look like that chick would wield it like it's her fucking like it's a balloon like a air balloon motorcycle it's made of aluminum foil yeah uh Joe says conversely singularity while I think it is screwed no matter when it comes out because we'd slam probably would have performed far worse than a Q4 populated by Halo 3 ODST and modern warfare 2 than it will in a Q1 populated by Bioshock 2 um again he has his cues mixed up his P's and Q's but but I mean I think at this point we know what he's talking about I actually I think anything that gives singularity more time for them to find some kind of fucking personality for that game is a good thing did you get to play that yes they're coming going yes oh yeah that's the one we call time shift it was yes Bioshock meets Call of Duty 4 with none of the personality um I'm I think Treyarch is developing it is an activation game yes no Raven Raven is developing it it's gonna say Treyarch's got their hands busy with whee porting my warfare yeah um I'm sure the Activision will make a lot of money off of that dude they're gonna make dude I'm gonna shit I'll end up probably getting it just out of curiosity more big curiosity you'll get it free from work so uh and the online play I'll be curious to try it a singularity used games by tech when I played singularity I was surprised that it was coming out this year I mean especially because Activision had gone so long without showing it to anyone and then saying it was gonna release four months later were you surprised because of technical stuff no just wasn't really fun okay but it wasn't like it was like no I mean the engine the engine seems solid enough and the performance isn't bad it just didn't look that great so what were uh what were some of the other games that people thought more people saying bayonetta will be screwed uh it's a boy I think is his name I'm fine with sweater cell conviction being delayed because I just want that game to be perfect it looks like it'll be Jason Bourne style game that I've been waiting for uh it seems to be doing some really neat things and I'm willing to wait for them I just want that game to be perfect I want that fucking game to come out that is it's almost annoying because it's so appropriate that it was delayed again and yeah here's domestic violence Wednesday going on I don't think I actually think they were just talking that wasn't that wasn't the standard domestic violence voices oh that's typically domestic violence Wednesday um it's just delayed again and I don't feel like it's being delayed for quality I think it's because it would be soft as fucking terrified and I suppose rightfully so why why should they be terrified yeah because I think the consumer spending this the holiday season is going to be fucking terrible oh okay see sometimes you say things and I don't know why that's why I asked well I I think that if this were 2007 that a lot of studios would seem less eager to delay their shit you don't think people are gonna pull up like like I'm seeing people as in consumers you don't think they're gonna be like Christmas time spend lots of money um they'll spend more than they did the rest of the year but credit is tight obviously but you don't yay I mean also there's a halo game sitting early in September and that will continue to sell extremely well through the rest of the year just like halo three did uh modern warfare two comes out in November and the versions that they're going to be hard selling a game stop cost almost as much as a second or even a third game it's here a lot more of an analyst than me it's in here making your predictions halo three will sell with legs for the rest of the year and i mean that was Microsoft but gamble in 2007 was that halo three would sell really well in September and keep selling well instead of releasing it like a gamble with halo three well but a lot of people thought that it would backfire that it wouldn't sell as well as it would in November without those Christmas sales yeah i'm just saying sold like three million units i just wonder if uh ODST will have the same effect i don't think ODST is gonna sell as well as halo three did um i think i don't know uh i think given the the time of the install base that that has grown since halo three you're just wondering if the name recognition okay yeah i wonder if it's the marketing campaign that's as prevalent as halo three was no no it's not it's not doesn't say i mean i don't have tv they've been running commercials for it again i mean in halo with the halo three campaign though okay well of course it's not as good as halo three because halo three was like one of the more expensive video game campaigns ever or gears or any of those other huge microsoft push yeah but even seem like in halo three was the biggest of all those halo three was obscene so and it worked yeah but would you be soft delaying splinter self or financial reasons it just why would they delay that in the 2010 with so many other games as well well i don't think i don't think it's for game sales as much as for stock investors to be like look we have our things coming out have confidence in us i think it is for game sales and and adam sesler does his soapbox thing on g4 tv.com and this is one of the things that he talked about recently um which is that the games industry is very slow to maneuver and michael pacher was saying something similar recently yeah where with movies they can with very short notice move their release date by a week or two whereas game companies plan advertising for months and sometimes years and events and people's hands exactly they have to allocate shelf space that's very limited because game stuff wants to sell their used product and and all of these companies thought basically at the same time well you know what the economy sucks and modern warfare two and halo three are coming out in in this holiday fuck it well resident evil sold really well let's let's do that so the street fighter capcom had a great year this year because of all the games they released early this year yeah all the bionic command although capcom street fighter totally different than dark void you know what i mean like true but that's i mean the point being is that they they were able to launch their tent pole releases at a time other than november and still see a lot of sales success and so everyone else saw that and said okay we'll do the same thing the capcom did instead of thinking well maybe we'll try to do what thq did with ufc um so they i don't think that they intentionally bundled it just happened that way and yeah i i mean speaking of exactly what thq did i you know i have a feeling that a lot of these games are going to get bumped into uh further in june and die in august uh-huh like i i'm i'm saying i don't think red dead redemption is going to make early next i'm gonna make a prediction and it makes me sad to say it but i would not be surprised to see mass effect who slipped to next june oh that would won't make you guys say there's a lot of my penis when your guts tells you these things massive redemption mass effect mass effect one sold pretty well but it still only did like a million units in 2007 and i think that yay wants to give it an opportunity to really have some time to itself and sell and a action rpg with really sort of high-minded sci-fi concepts like in the early part of the year with everything else that's coming out i just i don't think that they're that they're gonna want to sell it and they've got so much other stuff coming out that they've got to figure out what they want to allocate add money to yeah i guess it's just uh i just wonder like you know and by aware it could probably use more time i was just gonna say i mean just uh you know any game once you have a two or three behind it it's like i always kind of think that there's a lot more confidence behind it at that point by a shock too that's what i'm saying it's just you know once they have name record it's not the same as launching a new ip because even for people that know who mass effect is like oh it's mass effect that's from bioware but a lot of that's not most people most people go in the store and see mass effect dude on a cover with the laser gun like meh i mean it pains me to say i i want mass effect too so bad so bad but i just would not be surprised to see it slip until next jr july oh and red dead revolver or red dead redemption i mean i yeah i just have a feeling that's gonna slip just uh that doesn't have a two in the title even if it is yeah yeah because that and and and and also just because it's rockstar like the you know i think that they're gonna look at the at the rush at the or you know at the beginning of next year and they're just gonna say you know what fuck it man we're gonna get out of this and it's a western like we still haven't seen a game demonstrates that the western can perform well i mean how war i didn't sell terribly but again i think call wars or gun they probably didn't have very big campaigns behind them either and from what i heard red dead redemption they're gonna fucking go all out for it so we'll see still i mean if you put red dead redemption next to god of war three god of war three is going to kick everything's ass although i have to admit that i would rather play red dead redemption than god of war three i'd rather play god of war three yeah well you haven't you haven't seen red dead redemption i've seen red dead redemption i've not played it i don't know you got of war three seeing red dead redemption in person i was like god damn um so i don't know uh spinner so conviction being delayed makes me sad because i think that it's probably almost done yeah man i i i've you know i agree with what the other listener wrote in like as many times as that game has been delayed it had better be perfect like really there's gonna be no fucking excuse when i play that game i mean they really have only shown like one part though over and over and over yeah yeah but they did the same thing with assassin's creed yeah i'm just saying that i've been you're saying that you're wondering how done it is it just makes me wonder if that's like a vertical slice though i'm sure it is and the other parts of the games are you know um chase says screwed in my eyes is heavy rain i already consider the ps3 an afterthought 360 okay so the idea of it being months before god of war three had me hopeful now it may be resorting to a rental unless heaps of cash repair in my doorstep create us adjust that sexy uh i do think that heavy rain will get buried if it comes out at the same time as all these other games especially if it comes out i think heavy rain could get buried no matter what that's what i was i i don't think it's going to affect heavy rain one way or the other i think if heavy rain had come out after uncharted this year it could have had a a chance to to grab that ps3 enthusiast base but coming out next year next to god of war three and everything else i just and i'm gonna be honest but i like this is just me going off of just what i've seen anecdotally but i feel like 360 owners in general are people that read gaming sites more than ps3 owners i know that's totally just me being anecdotally i'm not i actually agree but i think a lot of people that own ps3 are the dudes we're talking about they just want they're mad and they're modern warfare stuff like that and those are the people that bought ps3's early on and stuff like that and i actually think that there's a lot of people that own ps3's that don't use it for anything but watching blu-ray movements and i'm just saying and so for all these people like they're going to go to the store look at the shelf see like heavenly sword all right that's got sword in the title that's 20 more for two that's got fucking warfare called duty on the name and then they're going to see like heavy rain what pass it right over but i do think that there's a sort of legion of ps3 owners that are aggressively propious three that would have picked up heavy rain but they only have so much money i still think they will i bet you heavy rain will sell like in its first month like only hundred thousand and over its lifetime it'll sell like five hundred thousand i'm gonna bet the heavy rain doesn't break fifty thousand in its first month quarter quarter i can bet we bet five bucks no at that quarter okay so i mean i'm i'm not saying that heavy rain is going to be bad i'm not i think it's gonna be great oh it's gonna be at least but but the whole thing is that i you know it's just a game but even though it's not i mean it it is kind of it's exceedingly high concept and it's just going into a smaller install base and even amongst the install base it's not going to resonate it's like it'll be a game that critics love and it'll probably not sell as well as it should it's going to be another shadow of the co-asses yeah well i mean and uh another psychological thriller allen wait let's push back it's two thousand ten oh well technically it wasn't pushed back it was just announced for two thousand ten really because i thought there was just window when they said they said during e3 that it was twenty ten that was the only twenty ten game supposedly that microsoft was supposed to be showing okay i thought that there was a time when it was expected yeah last year it was expected this year and this year it was people started expecting it next year well this year people started just expecting to find out it was never coming out until they shouted again uh chase also says as a college student who can only get a few titles a year i would consider the games that were delayed that had a multiplayer component to them will benefit the most you know what you need to start doing chase sorry i didn't mean to interrupt you go ahead you know you said it after a period so we're good uh uh you need to start selling your fucking prescription drugs chase or money for games i don't know you're selling your precious fluids i'm just kidding don't say uh modern warfare two and halo three odst will dominate the three sixty nine uncharted two might actually get me to go online for the ps3 for the first time i and i don't i just want to say also you said some about selling fluids that i've looked into selling precious fluids i've looked into selling semen and that is not as prevalent as a market as movies would lead you to believe profitable like prevalent even like the only most semen clinics are so that you are a man who's going to have to lose his testicles for something like testicular cancer and they will store it for you to have children later on of your own biological stuff this whole like them paying you for your shit it's pretty hard to get into that is a tough to tough to crack nut man i always heard that plasma is real easy to plasma is a good one um where's the output i really when does uncharted to come out November i don't even know i really worry about i'm just gonna be one of those things where people leave the comment and they just even know the release date for uncharted i mean it's definitely october or no mention that ratchet and clank is also coming out this fall yeah i know ratchet and clank didn't know how could you not know that uh the last ratchet and clank game didn't sell that well did it i don't think so it sold a little better than resistance but not really that well yeah well enough i'm surprised there's not a lot of people mentioning brutal legend or assassin is just by a sequel saying that we're not well not necessarily a mention them in what capacity they get delayed bringing them up talking talking because a lot of people are saying well this is the this is gonna be the winter of halo audie st and uh man i i will be happy a real legend like places in the middle of the top 10 on 360 the month it comes out not expected to be number one in october i think it'll be in it'll be in the top 10 in october um and then never again i can all predict like the top four uh for for october which will be we sports resort halo three o d s t uh whatever like like maybe we fit and brutal legend for 360 so yeah my top four would have been slightly different because what was your third one uh we fit see we fit i wouldn't have put in there i would have said uh uh mario kart ds it could be a sport that right just mario kart ds sports active too actually couldn't i was just saying mario kart ds because you know it'll be like amazon will have like a cell and all of a sudden it'll be up there again um that game will never disappear did you guys see somebody made a a wheel for your iphone to play racing games like where you put your iphone and i would really have to resist the urge to punch someone in the face if i saw them with it i have seen and i've heard it works pretty good the the like attachment for the iphone that kind of makes it look like a psp go and it plugs into the bottom and then it it adds a control pad and four buttons hmm i heard that works well but um as for me the game i feel will suffer the most from its delay is probably being at a like we covered before just because i mean it would have really if it had released in october it would have released into an uncrowded area for the genre and it's going to be done because it's fucking coming out in japan in october um you don't think everyone's going to boy boycott starcraft too god starcraft too i was actually the one game that will not be affected by it's whatsoever it will sell well no matter what we're talking about the company that is a single developer that has their own convention what the fuck i'm wondering if that's when they're going to debut the beta at this point or if they're gonna if i guess the big thing is whether or not the beta will even come out this year for starcraft yeah i do not know they're supposed to give more information on that soon i mean it would depend like how much do you think the beta would depend on the battle net thing that they're developing i mean that's why they don't get it right i'm wondering what part of battle net is being held up because again like i tweeted earlier i have the seeking suspicion that they're trying to leverage battle net as activation steam right i mean and if they're going to launch battle net and expect it to be as they said the premier place for online gaming it isn't going to just be with starcraft alone they're gonna have to have that and like modern warfare too launching on it for pc like battle net or possibly elements from the 360 and pc versions that tie into it yeah maybe that'll be like the game spy tech now you can buy some battle net tech for your online playing um as for the game that benefits from the delay uh i mean bioshock 2 is probably i can't imagine the bioshock 2 could have come out this year at this point yeah no i only ever saw vertical slices of that as well i mean i never just got to sit down and see it so and i mean if delaying mass spec 2 means that they get at least like a second great variation in there when does i knew that for dead come out november yes which is like the same month as what modern warfare and assassins too mmm man it's gonna be a rough month when's the uh i guess that new mario the new co-op mario isn't coming out this year is what super mario brothers we're really super mario brothers too yeah it comes out in september yeah that'll be a game that i guarantee like even if it doesn't make the top 10 it's first month that'll be a game that probably has stupid legs and it'll be like next year a random month will be the one or something yeah randomly um i'm gonna know i think we'll take a break go into letters all right we're on that for what you're saying huh this is the beginning song might as well speak to Dave writes also a letter should be addressed to two letters that eat dash sleep dash game dot com he's he wrote that no okay but that's just something a billion people asked i didn't know where to actually send letters so i just picked uh the all you guys so i thought i would email everyone on the planet and hope that you got it dave says uh i was eating a bag of dicks the other day and i thought i'd buy a wee everyone is saying that more decent games have come out in the last two months than in the history of the console what game should i get what game should i get that i can play split-screen co-op with my girlfriend she is a typical girl good at platformers and racing games but hasn't had much exposure to shooters slash role-playing games where should i start with her mostly boom boom blocks does that have split-screen co-op and he doesn't have split-screen but like you can play multiplayer i mean i don't see why split-screen should be as you can see if you could get her into uh playing mario galaxy with you mario actually actually she can shoot the little stars while you play all the mario shit i'm pretty sure mario kartos split-screen multiplayer right yeah um but just for our split-screen co-op it's not really the console for that unfortunately or even co-op on the same screen i'm just trying to think spyborgs might be kind of fun once it comes out and it wasn't that hard and it was a lot of fun and there's two people on the same screen a new super mario brothers oh yeah new super mario brothers we that'll be a great one to play with it once it comes out just make sure not to screw whoever gets smarty pants play smarty pants there that's a fantastic game to play with people and uh we sports resort boom we sports resort is there any co-op at least sports resort or is it all competitive not all competitive but it's fine um let's see this next email is from brian he says hey this is brian of ephemeral fantasia fame and not as then he invented a femoral fantasia but he wrote the song ephemeral fantasia that we played last time which if you don't remember was the one that started off with like fat balls fat fat fat balls oh yeah fat fat balls he just said i just wanted to say thanks for having played my song when i heard you say my name i was really i was excited fat penis i played to tell my friends in deboot i was the one you played uh i'm glad to have made you laugh keep on farting fat balls yeah we we also jammed that one in the hotel room during e3 and it made me fucking she provided some levity yeah um probably gave me a hemorrhoid i laughed so hard this next email is from adam that's great and adam says i just wanted to comment on episode 27 about how you guys talked about how the predators everyday life back on their home planet it's just funny because this is exactly what myself and a group of friends would do it while board at work and we worked at circuit city and people wonder why we went out of business anyways we made it similar funny at least we thought were funny observations about predators boring monday and life back on its home planet we commonly referred when the one predator from avpread avp2 must have said something like god damn those those dumb motherfuckers how could they crash land on earth 15 god damn minutes after takeoff god damn always got to clean up their fucking mess i got to do everything around here we always wondered about their education as it seems that they are highly intelligent yet they seem so brutal and savage so we came up with a classroom full of growling predators while the teacher wrote the self-destruct sequence on the space chalkboard and how any predator that shot a spitball the teacher spitball being a shoulder cannon in this case would be punished with a swift swipe from an arm claw and by the way as for our goofing off leading to the demise of circuit city well we were actually all great sellers oddly enough the company is poorly run and headed towards the shitter long before we arrived fyi i can get it i understand that yeah we work for tower um i also work for blockbuster for a long time so oh thanks for reading this and if you read on your next podcast if you could please refer to me as big dump i'd appreciate it i earned the name at work because i took abnormally big poops thanks for clarifying that because i really wasn't sure that i would get that man i generally if i have like especially if it's a paid by the hour job always make sure to take a poop on the job at least one paid yeah at least one about no if not like one where you just go in there and sit with your pants on and play games on your iphone but i haven't gotten paid by the hour in a long time hey guys just wanted to know how you feel about trading in games i've been doing it all my life and have never really thought about the developer not getting a sale for me um also he says you might be interested to know that you can get the sposion soundtrack sposion man soundtrack free from twisted pixels website sposion man dot com so and that was from jake so how do you guys feel about use games not about use games about trading in games trading in games um we do it from sometimes yeah occasionally more so now with the current economic situation yeah but uh i don't know i i'd prefer not to trade in games i know that anything prefers not to trading games believe the term is necessary evil emphasis on evil yeah and sad face over necessary yeah i mean it you know it's frustrating you know and i mentioned earlier you're walking in two-thirds of game stops wall spaces use games that's bullshit i mean to be fair they definitely set up their therefore and they tell where their sales pitch to encourage you to trade in as many games as possible so they can sell as many use games as possible right but um um this next one is from john and he says hey guys all the show just wanted to point out that on last week's show you guys were yelling at inzo for only playing wow and not using his pc to pick up things like steam remember this was the guy that was like i only have a 360 and i've already played wow and i was like wait if you have a pc you can play i would like to clarify that anthony was yelling at inzo yeah and and but then he says but he brings up a good point which is don't forget some of us are lame nubs who only game on max so then again mac gamers probably aren't stuck most mike gamers are aren't stuck with non-intel max guess i'm just bitter which i guess it's a fair point inzo could be like i play wow because it's like one of three games he can play in which case inzo you should go pick up uh sims three and uh because that's a game that'll work on mac yeah and then uh maybe you should uh which is not the only reason that you should pick it up it's also kind of awesome yeah or you should not be said that you should only buy a game because it works on a mac well i mean you go into the max door and you have your choices of that and what zu tikon uh good games usually release on uh on that support right i mean on that game yeah i mean honestly i guess he should just uh trade in his mac and get a fucking real person's computer this podcast was recorded on a mac and type of laptop um yeah i said it i'm fine i'm just letting you get get as much rope as you need but for people to write in mad emails it's not like i'm an apple hater i have an iphone and an ipod um this one is from rick so he says my question to you is this what are the most annoying uh i'm not gonna yeah we're gonna save that one because he's asking about annoying game design decisions yeah we're gonna talk about the game design stuff next week actually so uh he says all right this next one is from shane who says constant dick sucking see people just take it to a whole nother level because you brought it you call it praise dick sucking i like i like how someone put in the the comments of one of the shows recently how we how we need to go into urban urban dictionary dot com and have a definition you know our own dick sucking definition you know he's in podcast his dick sucking which you put in quotations were love tyler's hat anthony shouldn't have cut his hair uh i actually think anthony looks much more presentable with shorter hair no no i should get it cut soon because it's starting to throw out again i want to get cut no my friends are game nerds i'm 17 and live in ireland need i explain anymore you should explain more because i don't know to 17 year olds in ireland they just fucking hate i was dumb enough to put fighting the greens on our t-shirt design some fuck do i know about ireland apparently uh man i was about to say some inappropriate shit anyways i'm glad i cut that off uh and now that i'm going to college this coming september how do i go about finding nerds to land party with and hang out with well i don't know man most people i know nowadays they don't actually do land parties i feel in college dorms land parties actually ray if you're going to college this coming september it's it'll just be that your floor is a land party your dorm floor is a land party because everything is network but beyond that i mean honestly if you wanted to like gather nerds dude you should start a club on your college and just flip another nerds flock to you you be the fuck but a fucking flyers around and be like or work for flyers around i mean yeah or just post on craigslist like hey i'm gonna have an impromptu nerd meeting here and see shows up i'm not sure how much different uni culture is in the in ireland in the uk compared to here what culture university culture oh i just never heard of that way really yeah no i was like uni i was like is this like a term for gamers i've never heard sorry i'm sure it could be shorthand for something much more offensive or yeah i was like i was like is this like the people that like believe in like dressing up as dragons and acting like they're birthing people or something okay way to destroy the topic uh i mean i'm not sure the differences are in university culture there or here but here you would just check out like bullet and boards and stuff like that and a lot of times if you're in your dorm and it seems like a slightly social place like don't always have your door closed like play games like in out in the open and people will notice more shan retreat to the internet because you have that to find people to play games with yeah he also says the drinking and leprechaun jokes get a little old us irish got over calling americans fat years ago come on do we make irish drinking jokes i don't think we do how we haven't even made a leprechaun joke on the podcast i mean either way like don't refrain from making fat american jokes that hasn't gone anywhere i mean we're we're getting other than ever i mean keep them coming we need something to move in the direction i mean um our asses are huge oh god all right so i don't like it when you preface a letter with oh god this is from jackie says hi guys long time listener first time writer i recently went away for a week to boy scout camp and i wanted to inform you about the significance fat penis had at camp i started using it whenever awkward pause came up and soon enough everyone in my troop was using fat penis oh and even some scouts and other troops actually the whole camp was one giant collection of fat penises you help make a week at camp were durable i just want to say that that fills me with a personal thing because i personally uh don't like boy scouts so it's not that i hate you jack but uh why don't you like boy scouts just because of the whole gay thing yeah i like how the way i put that makes it sound like you're gay no it's just that in my hometown fucking boy scouts were walking around putting the prop 22 posters up in people's cards posters that you got in trouble yeah those are the original like ban on gay marriage posters and it was boy scouts going around putting them up and even back then for some people boy scouts could be a really positive influence in their lives no totally i mean ryan scott was a boy scout and i don't hate him you know and i'm just saying boy scouts aren't not even all boy scouts i was hoping you make an example of a good person all right not even all boy scout troops are really religious either but no and i and even and even still i believe rich religion can do great things people's lives it's just that i've had some bad experience with boy scouts so if i can introduce uh boy scouts to fat penis if you've been introduced scouts to penis i mean i uh thank you for that i thought the imagery of um of all the little japanese kids doing the boop boop boop i thought that was pretty great yeah what that is this this is fun to imagine too that is a really good one um god man some people if you see fat penis on a tv show or something and by all means please tell us yeah eventually we should probably copyright that shit um you know you can write the fucking application for that shit because i'm not going to fill it out and wouldn't we owe joe some money on that uh well no not if we uh fucking he's a lawyer yeah but he he has to whoever uh pants at first you know and what's what she'll gonna do hate me for life because i stole a bunch of money for him fuck him um that's why i'd say something super inappropriate but i'll wait until after the show okay so he says i broke up this is uh from sam thank you for that i broke up with my girlfriend of two years due to finding out a multitude of indecent acts on her behalf in case she was a whore he doesn't write that but that's what i'm assuming you mean i mean if it's sleeping on you good for you we both ran a small friend only guild on shaya which has now been disbanded due to the friction that ensued because of the breakup it has even got to the point that we now play on different servers with our friends either staying on that server or not playing with us or playing with both of us on different servers yeah i'm even considering quitting shaya as most of what we did we did together i got only what is shaya is that a story i only laugh about this because it seems it's it's ridiculous to me but it's ridiculous to me because i've also done it i have people that i played wow with and now we don't talk and now i will move my character to another server so that i can play with someone else so i mean i i it's it's funny to me because of the shit that we do people do but like just to add a totally detaching i mean it's not surprising i mean again i i've done emos or just an extension of how people interact with each other and a breakup is a complicated thing yeah i know in some ways like i would like to not date a girl that played all the games yeah it would actually be kind of a relief some i think in some ways to play someone to date someone that has no interest in games but who is totally tolerant of it so that's like the holy grail but he basically won sorry no no he basically is one to let ends of know that other people are going through it he's going through you know baba baba girls breaking up with them play games and emos are good for that yeah it sucks breaking up with someone and taking them off your xbox life friends list mm-hmm otherwise you get weird messages from their roommates on their xbox life accounts late at night so let's see what the silence sorry it's because i it's because i didn't have them all printed out this time so i'm a little slower on computer than just reading paper i was imagining my stories but the message said i always wish you would sneak in my room whoa i'm just gonna read this one because like you know since i didn't have time to go through them uh okay i'm just gonna read this one okay it's just fucking weird like this is just a purely weird one not game related fellas just start fat penis princess last night love the style but i'm struggling to get a sense of momentum and battles i just keep doing my thing and hope for the best all of us some more time tonight to see how things go with that in mind if you were blessed with an additional dick and we're allowed to choose its location where we're going why and then hold on but then this is why it gets really fucking weird right oh deaths yes is that he just says i love you dad like that's what it says is it's like i love you come a dad who says i love you dad underneath that and then it says ookey spooky aka the spook aka the spook aka the ukmeister aka mr spook aka grandmaster uk the spook are you okay okay okay ookey spooky version two aka ookey ookey spooky aka lord ooke king of spooks aka ookey spooky a square you're encouraging the british aisles i'm just saying that that was the i just read that because that was fucking letter from someone delving in the madness that was like hp lovecraft shit all right yeah that was right after he saw kathulu and did a fucking line of heroin wait you don't do lines of heroin i i don't know bad drugs if i had a second no you can you can smoke heroin yeah but i'm saying you can't do a line of heroin is it just guaranteed overdose if you snore heroin i could swear that people do guys drinking your drugs snoring as much like that's the thing in pulp fiction is that she cut like a wine that she would do of coke but it was heroin and that's why she OD'd um if i could have it say i guess on the tip of the first one that's a good all right all right it's all right i think maybe a good story were you thinking about where you'd want a penis i just i mean i said we're at if i had to choose on the tip of the other of on the tip of the first one oh yeah i guess an extension right yeah i was thinking hard to get blood all the way out there i wonder hey that sounds like one of them good problems you just have to fucking like like like lose feeling in your legs to have enough blood and i'm either i'm having a stroke or i'm intensely aroused right in it Tyler i think uh maybe your elbow no like directly above my current penis that way you could like double so you can fork someone what if i had it coming out of like my tailbone i know if i had like if i was doing two girls at once one constant thrusting motion would be doing oh that's about the ones uh yeah i could see that since like you have oh so that's the only place we're going to take there are certain problems of being an intense and incredibly visually oriented person that was one of those times um the next letter is from uh Russell who says he's a level 20 real life pally i don't know what that means paladin yeah but i'm saying level 20 real life like chaplain in the army or something um i'm not a fan of physical confrontation and i'm pretty much a peace-loving guy but i like to think that if i'm messed with i will rip my salence jaw off and eat their face last november i was robbed the second time that year and rather than to passively give in to two jerk-offs brandishing a gun and a billy stick given when they have a gun and a billy stick the decision was made to fight back perhaps it was a tenuous grip on reality i have one i've only been awake five minutes but after but after quitting one in a vulnerable spot i remember thinking i hope i can do enough agra with amelia attack he thought that in a real life conversation i hope i can do enough agra with amelia attack as i broke a thick wooden rod over one over the one attacking my sister where did you get a thick wooden rod where did that come into this equation i'd be a lot more boldened with fucking power too if i had a thick wooden rod um shut up as it turned out i could and i had to block his counter attack with the steel bat he had taken from her your sister as steel bat before i and before my skull ended up being considerably less fucking close to apocalyptic future do you live in you walk around like the warriors the fact that i can do any of this i can only attribute to my perks luck of the nerd and twitch reflexes alongside my love of soul caliber and the fact that god damn near everyone in match making seems to use killik uh though my team through the team my team of my dad my sister and i all ended up minor injuries and bruises i would never forget the feeling of watching two larger arm mentally my apartment shouting terrified curses and polity oh they were breaking into his apartment okay also i ding 20s and next week so they've must have died from dots man it's like funny that i was walking around and all of a sudden i saw the experience number above my head rates it's funny that i know he's joking because if you're not um that's frightening oh wait what the fuck is he from i didn't say in a previous rebel of phim anthony mentioned the secret says he's the same person no this obviously his name being he got a secret sent he got from tyler i've recently moved to quebec canada and the language barriers made it difficult to meet women scratch that almost impossible i need help what is the secret sauce roger roger i can't tell you they won't go on on the air i'm sorry roger and i guess i could email you and tell you but uh yeah that's cool yeah yeah um just because like i understand quebec like i've you know right but if if it's a language barrier like it's tough i know but it's like maybe you should fucking go out and buy uh what's that shit called rosetta stone yeah learn to speak french canada yeah it's learning to speak french would probably be good because if you're i i feel like isn't the cliche that smelling good is not the way into a french person's heart i'm sorry french people this is a point it's totally joke i i have no idea okay this one's that we're this one's a depressing letter corbin corbin dallas says i'm glad you said it because someone had to after listening to you talk about old old girl friends and such in the podcast i always i always get the feeling i will never have get a have a girlfriend my relationship experience started and ended with a girl i played rock band with after poking her with my drumstick rock band drumstick we kissed twice but never went any farther our relationship ended when she found out i was a virgin sad face fuck this girl first of all any girl that's like not gonna like what girl is gonna be like your virgin fuck that i mean it depends on how old he is she could be intimidated by the fact that he's a virgin it's a big responsibility to flower a young man yeah but ending a relationship no like just over that if that was the only reason which i can't imagine it was yeah yeah that's why i'm suspect like that i was wondering if you could tell us how you guys met your past or present girlfriends to give some people like me hope in actually finding someone special here since episode one corbin um let me just say that actually my my last actual girlfriend i met through a friend that's basically how it's always been just through friends new girls like every girlfriend i've ever actually had was always from a friend how many girlfriends have you had Tyler if you had a ballpark it i mean i've been girl crazy my entire life i've been girl i'm i just clarify i've chased down girl since kindergarten yeah me too but okay well not count i'm talking about real girlfriends like yeah i had a girlfriend in kindergarten i had a girlfriend in fourth grade but i don't count those right is it not count until like you break the tongue barrier not even in eighth grade when i had a girlfriend in my freshman year i didn't count those like it was like a girlfriend that i really actually cared about that i wasn't just like hand jobs you know what i mean i'd say hand job qualified someone as a girlfriend oh gee they were girlfriends but i'm just saying like you know when i tell people they're by implying they were hand jobs i'm just saying like real like girls that i actually like cared about like this was a relationship it wasn't just about like making out i i think that he would be satisfied just starting with you know companionship yeah at this stage in the game well you know what i will tell you Corbin there is this website and it is called okcubid.com and it is a great site for meeting people whether for companionship romantic or otherwise well i mean how old is this guy i mean if he's in like high school he doesn't be looking at this group he doesn't say but i'm just saying well even okay cupid though does pretty good about breaking down to age groups and stuff technically you have to be 18 or over to join okcubid right that is not necessarily always the case but honestly if this girl is like breaking up with you she found your version and you're under 18 it's kind of like okay that's that's actually that's sort of a teen girl thing to do right but i'm just saying like plenty of guys i knew in high school or still virgins and plenty of girls would not want to do update them hey well that's the case that's the case just get through get through it Corbin because she sounds like a downbie thank you dr. gayegos yep hey man yeah he read into us for advice i provided like how to meet how to meet girls or how to hit on girls like what does he want to know he just said how did we meet girls in the past uh in all means and manners i mean but a lot of it's usually like a lot of people make connections through other people yeah like friend of a friend and you just meet him and you hit it off um first of all i would strongly stress the the law of averages which is that you will fail much more often than you will succeed in your pursuits of the opposite sex no matter what venue you were attempting to do it in let's just think batting averages unless you're talking that fucking face you made you were thinking not me player i mean do you disagree i know you were i knew it i just i i mean this is just from talking to guy friends and i don't know i mean like if you're batting 500 with girls you're doing well we need to make some some semi humorous in my serious videos of uh like beauty school with tyler you just like run people down um you know i i'm you know i'm i'm amazed though with that like you know kids like if you know if i was a high schooler now there's so much stuff out there with like facebook and twitter and all these things i mean it seems like it's so easy just to reach out to girls like i know one of the biggest things that always caught my nerves when i wanted to meet it would be if i didn't know the girl but i knew of her like the whole introduce that breaking the ass thing is weird someone to make that connection for you yeah but doing it over like my space or facebook seems like that's really easy again i think that a lot of a lot of guys are afraid of rejection like they're even though even though rejection rejection sucks but rejection will happen which again is why i say especially online yeah i mean because it's so easy for someone to blow you yeah i will just say this because i don't think you would care that uh nixon are met his long-term girlfriend right now he met her through a Craigslist posting so what and she's way in front of it and she's awesome he just found a random posting and she was talking about how much she like battle struggle actica and therefore it worked so i'm just saying around and also it's like uh stopping no i know you're not i can't help but think of like one one of my really good friends back in houston and he's like this complete it's like sourpuss personality like he's always kind of sour and like all the all his comments are always kind of like where are girls can be into the dick that and they are they flock to it it's i mean i'm off of the stick they send away like you hear all these cliches on the cell phone these cliches but like girls like confidence and girls like assholes and i mean those two things go together yeah kyle says deer able of them in the very same show arthur was making fun of anthony for pronouncing things wrong he said soldering incorrectly i yeah i got that twitter or that tweet how do you say soldering i sometimes i say solders sometimes i say solder yeah i will say that anthony said mealy three times this episode dude i i fuck up on mealy so much it is just ingrained in my fucking brain the synapse has been made and it's never going to disconnect until i decided to start drinking or something or you learn something else and you forget it yeah it is just i i know it's wrong but in my mind it's just like it just happens sometimes i say niche sometimes i say niche because i hear both well i think that's acceptable um i'll read this one this will be the last one just because i think it's something it's been on a lot of people's minds oh good this is from uh i think he just his emails or escaping to lido and he says hello i was a little bummed last week show how to bleep effort to be a european peen like a european penis uncut oh well i still love you i like my podcast i like my gay porn that cut was nothing serious yes it really wasn't at all but it was just uh something that i could have gotten in trouble for in uh the industry that was not modding yeah no no it had nothing to do there are no modded consoles there's nothing illegal going on yeah i i don't have the patience to mod an xbox i don't even know how and i'm not gonna pay someone to do it fucking flash the firmware of your dvd drive in an extremely convoluted manner some student that busted from modding xbox is i think uh southern california ten years in prison yeah it was he like a was he like an idiot that posted on craigslist like want to back up your xbox games i think it's actually more like xbox 360 with 60 games installed on the hard drive which you will totally see well i think that is pretty excessive no no no of course uh yeah people shouldn't get punished like that for being dumb they should just get punished in some other way like having their fingernails pulled off or something i mean i think i think like just kidding i think public humiliation could be uh could be a
