Bad news first: No Bobito this week due to circumstances beyond our control (or I jinxed it, one or the other). The good news: Tyler, Anthony and myself talk about Ghostbusters, Battlefield 1943, and then listen to your submissions for our new theme song. Then we close with letters, as usual. Municipenis! This week's music, in order of appearance:Nonpoint - SignsAtmosphere - Little ManAlice in Chains - A Looking in ViewThanks!
Let's move into the first entry from Nick in Chousey. Yeah, we, for some people, they submitted more than one entry and we thought that we might as well play them up. This is the first one from Nick. This is never a name. His little mix of kind of fun, you are now in fun poppy, makes me feel like I'm on a roller coaster or something with some cardboard cutouts going by the cowboy. Maybe a... You're just speaking gibberish to me now. We're now going to go into the session of the rebel. Second, we're going to go into the second one by now. Right now. This one is like a very much like a movie intro feel or like a... Or a children's television show. Yeah, like... Part 2. Like a Bill Nines guy. Bill Nines guy. Gravity. Awesome. Well, that picked up. Starting to let's go to the... Alright, sorry. I usually have some chatter over the very tail end of the music. You've unfortunately happened, but those were the two from Nick. I actually thought those were both really good. I think the first one he said has copyright material in it. The second one I thought was really good too. I just... I mean, I don't know, pun rebel of him. Right now, my person is at 25. I am Anthony Gyagas. My favorite is still Glitz Chuckspads. Like that one. Yeah, Chuckspads is still... Of GameSpite.com. It's still down good. It's still down there. EatSleepGame.com. Joined by Arthur Geese and Tyler Barber of EatSleepGame.com. And I think I made this because I was like having this bubble of gas that was trying to decide whether it was weather. It was going, but those were both X2. X2 turned into a far over. I was choosing its pathway. You were trying to discern the shit potential. I mean, we're like 30 second clips. We did a lot in those 30 seconds. We're really well put together. We're not song reviewers people. Alright, so this is by... the next one is by Steven... No, no, it was just Eekly. And it's just called Rebel of him Intro Proud. It was like two. This one's 11 seconds. I'm trying to remember this one. I can't. Whether this was going to become a fire orb or what it was. As you might hear, Jason Wilson is not here this week. I have a lot of respect for Jason, so I try and reframe from humor that I think might make Jason. There we go. It's unfortunately uncomfortable. But when Jason Inner found the fucking cuffs are off. Unfortunately as Anthony to put her to the earlier Robert Act, it's not with us this week. Yeah. That is an excellent note for us. I post it for that song to end on. That wasn't bad. I mean, it's got a very recognizable sort of theme to it. It was the Pac-Man theme. He would be thus cursing it. Yeah. And we mentioned it the previous week. So we're no longer going to say when we're going to have guests on. Unless it's like someone we pay to be here. I think we can then sue. I think it's just maybe it's more straight up video game than what we're going for. So, you know, this is where we normally talk about things we've been playing. And we're also going to judge your theme song submissions. It was the Pac-Man theme. So I'm saying straight up obvious. The length was good for like a radio, but you know how the radio likes have really short clips. You know, work for something like that. What a one up FM used to do where they would have like the really quick things in between clips where they wouldn't play music. They would just have a thing that goes like really quick like five second spot. Because really Robert was going to be a guest judge. But in the end, we were going to be the ones who had the ultimate decision since we're going to be saddled with whatever. I saddled makes it sound like they're only like a tariff one up or something, right? You know, they'd work perfectly better not. It's just we're going to some of them. We're going to do some of them are and we pick some. And when we say terrible, I mean like let's make one thing clear even right now. They were all labors of love when we appreciate them all. Even if some of them are just kind of bad. Most of them. You know, I just I appreciate them even if we're not going to even if they're just. So don't take it too personal, but we don't do that shit. That podcast doesn't exist anymore. Oh. All right. The next one is also by Stephen Weekly and it's called the. It's called. The eff up lazy generation remix. Oh, okay. Yeah. This one makes me feel better about saying the last one was awful. Cause this is if we make fun of some a little bit because. Or somewhere I wanted that seven minutes of my life back. So. Yeah. I mean, that's the other thing. Sometimes theme songs were a little long. Compared to the good one, right? Just. All right. Walk. They're like, you know, they're like theme scores. Yeah. We did not ask you to score the podcast. So let's talk about games we've been playing. Why don't you start us off with Ghostbusters. Yeah, Ghostbusters. Yeah, Ghostbusters. You're a show about these people who play video games and then write about it. Welcome to Rebel FM. Wow. My fucking tongue felt weird in my mouth. What do you want from me? Maybe it's that shit in your lip. Maybe more. No, it actually did make me talk weird at first having my lip pierced. But no, it's fine. I don't even miss it when it was happened. I have this innate, looking at your face. I have this innate obsessive compulsive thing going on right now where I'm convinced that it's a dulling one in my teeth. So I could check it like every little bit like you could like you could see it filing down. Yeah, well. I can witness it over time. And for some reason you didn't include very much of that. If that was his song, then that was pretty amazing. Yeah. That one's really cool too. Yeah. You should send us a longer clip of that, Steve. Maybe. I mean, the guy sounded like he had an accent in the beginning and then the singer sounded to the American wonder if it was just... Well, have you ever... I mean, a lot of people sing with an accent there. Yeah, that's true. That's true. I mean, you should send us that full clip because what it can come down to is we don't necessarily have to have one theme. You know, it's bad when you start taking a picture every day of the tooth and then you ask me to make a stop-motion movie about it. Actually, that'd be kind of cool. That might be more entertaining than Ghostbusters. We can always have a couple of... True. Aw. Aw. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I didn't pay for it, but... I'm just saying. We alternate between... If we have a couple, we really like... But Steve and we want to hear more of that. So if that is your song, you should send us more of it, as long as you know, just taking some shit off people. All right. The next one is by Tyler B. Is that you? When I saw the email in my inbox, I was like, Tyler sent a theme song. For free entertainment, for a free Ghostbusters movie. Yeah. The proposition becomes different when it's $60. Yeah. I sent music to you guys when you all... For a Ghostbusters movie. So yeah. So today, I finally decided that I would... Like a couple weeks ago, I think I talked about how I had gotten past the shrink wrap, but not the sticker on the side. First I read the live film. Oh, you probably sent those to me. I was like, all right, sticker, you're going down. That would be Rebel FM Intro. And that's what it's called, 25 seconds. So I popped it in, and right off about one of the... Here we go. The nice things I will say... Okay, I got eight bits about Ghostbusters, and I actually have many nice things to say about Ghostbusters is that we've become accustomed lately to games with really truly awful load times and Ghostbusters does not have really... Sampled groove going. Truly awful load times. We have Pussy Conflict going on in the corner of the room. It's because PB is defending my stuff, because ladies fucking knows it around it. It loads. Sorry's good. Really cool. I apologize if any of these are quiet. Yeah. They might, you know, it might sound a little treble-y on the audio. Rebel FM. Look, and it's kind of cool the tone it sets at the beginning, because there's like a Columbia pictures bump at the beginning. Just kind of got it. And you're like, that's right, this feels like fucking Ghostbusters, and then there's like 17 others. Fuck. Third party, like, bumps after it, which kind of ruins the magic. And gameplay-wise, it's a mixed bag, exploring and using the PK meter to find stuff and like to find ghosts. All right, so that was that was that. That was cool. I mean, that's... You're the worldest guy ever. Yeah. I don't. I am not a DJ. First of all. Um, yeah. Just to collect information. Nongos is fun. Like that one. I just... Like, it's definitely got the sort of... That one wasn't bad in any way, but it didn't still... Um, like the mechanic in Bioshock where you took pictures of things, it was very low-key. It didn't grab me. Like, to get points and like to get stuff unlocked, well, there's a very similar mechanic in Ghostbusters. Mm-hmm. Um, down to the way that you collect these like hidden haunted items that are scattered throughout the game that have their own like really cool sort of mini backstories to them. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, they have like an audio track. I like... I think that person has tuck back still. It's just a... I don't know the... Yeah. Where is it? No, I feel new. I like how like mellow it was, but still what I like about the glitz one is that it was kind of mellow and laid back, but it was also... It also took... Yeah, it felt like it had a movement to it, you know, like text, sort of whatever. That's the Tobin's Book of Shadows or whatever, the book that they're always referencing in Ghostbusters. Yes. Like, has all these items listed in it. Cool. So on one of them. Close. Alright. Next one is like... There's like this red phone that you find that it will only make outgoing calls for someone who's about to die or something like that, and they're only five that were ever made. It's called Rebel OFM song, it's by Mark Williams, 50 seconds. It was so pathetic. That even picked up on the mic. I'm sure it did. These are very sensitive mics. It just sounded like pooped. Right. Whoa. If you have like bows, earphones, you've got a little... So... It started with... Every nuance of our 80 kilobits. I actually just don't... I feel very good. I don't know. That's because you've been gorging on corn tortillas all day. That's fine. No, I just think... I just kind of felt ill. And I think, man, I think I might have caught something from that airplane. Oh, that's right. This is the one where you can't hear the fucking lyrics of all. I like it. It's like there's... It's like there's... It's like a... You can't hear the fucking lyrics of all. I like it. It's like there's somebody in the back doing... Oh. Sorry. And you're wearing down your tooth with your piercing and it's just... Am I fucking nerves or fried? But... Bingo or something. I have what me and Ryan always refer to as a Rorschach moment. Like me and Ryan. This internal thing where... Rorschach moment is like, you know, that part in the movie where... He's like an auction. He like snaps from being... Like the guy that's like Batman that just catches him and makes sure they go to jail. To being the guy that fucking just brutally murders people that are bad. You know, with that guy that... What did the guy do? He like feeds the spoiler. He... Fucking feeds. Yeah, he... He murdered... His girl... He... He... He... He raped... He raped some murders, a little girl. They get tired of this. He told... And he told Ellen. Doesn't that because he knows he's not going to kill him is what he thinks. Yeah, and so... And then he just snaps it. So I always tell Ryan, like... Fuck. Some days when I'm just feeling like... Whoa! Strung out and fed up and... Like I'm about to have a Rorschach moment. Where's my face? Where's my face? Where's my face? I'm just about to beat someone to death at their desk. Where's my lightsaber? You know... You just walk up behind them and fucking out the prop. If you hear, he saw Jello be offered a coffee. He did cut their throat and held a tape recorder behind him. Man! That's... Watch the bubbles form. Whoop! Whoop! Sounds like a band where they get a drunk person up on stage at them. They're just like... Run and boom! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! I'm so drunk right now. Whoop! Whoop! (laughter) So Ghostbusters. That's how you make ghosts. Murder. Pretty much. Alright. Uh... Um... You take pictures of ghosts as well and they usually have back stories as far as what happened to them and it always involves... Some sort of wrongful death? Unfortunate death, yeah. (laughter) Are you a rapper? The guitars in that were pretty rad. But... Jesus Christ. The cats are a little out of hand today. No, I mean they're good. Peepy's settling in. Um... What's the average enemy Ties could have been brought up? And uh... It's a no. Yeah, it's a no. But the other part of it goes to the spustrate. If we wanted to just listen to fucking... Babble. It's because in the movies they were... Um, ghosts. For the most part. They were ghosts like... They're sort of like generic... Feetless. Sloating bodies or... No. Guitars. We can listen to it in our own pocket. No, I mean... All the ghosts and ghostbusters with the exception of Slimer were pretty... Pretty diverse as far as what they were. Yeah. Um... And it's similar in that there are a lot of different ghost types. Hmm. I must... We've got one coming up. That's the Babble over guitars. Alright. Uh, the next one is Revolve M Try One by Alan Young. Oh, I really like this one. Only about... Is Slimer in the game? He is in the game, actually. It's your friend. You have him in a containment unit on display for people to look at. So he's not a friend. Which makes sense. Because in the movies... He's not in the containment unit. With... With... With... In the movies he was never your friend. That was just the cartoon. No, that was the... The real ghostbusters cartoon. Yeah. But... Okay. Um... But no, he's in a... Like in a glass, a magic glass case. And the very beginning starts out with you as a... And this one has rookie that's... Like brought on to basically be the... To any obnoxious intro. What? No, the girl. It's gonna... For other new weapons in case anything goes horribly wrong. And Slimer escapes. And... And... And... The... The... Unfortunately a lot of it feels sort of contrived in video gaming more than I wish it... It's more contrived in video gaming than I wish it was. And in this case Slimer gets away and they want you to get him and hit him with a proton pack. Yeah, I like the wannick too. The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... And he's standing right in front or he's floating right in front of the... There's no way to shoot him without hitting the container. The wannick... The wannick... The wannick... It seems like there's a unit and that sets another ghost free. And they say, "I can't believe you shot the containment unit." And just little things like that that are excessively forced. Yeah, well maybe they just don't expect you to think about it and you're supposed to turn and shoot and then... True. It'll just happen. It'll be more of like a heavy drum beat, but I did. Cause I remember that it'll put in there. Alright. That was very bad to shut down the containment unit. Oh god. You fucking Ghostbusters nerd lore caught up with you? No. This isn't... If you're super into making ghostbusters references you were listening to the wrong podcast. That is the giant bomb cast where there were literally like four or five episodes where they made nonstop ghostbusters references. How do you know if I could make it ghostbusters reference? Oh my gosh. Really? I mean maybe if you guys made them I would recognize the dogs and cats living together. Motherpuss bucket is a personal favorite. Nerd, that's one big twinkie. When someone asks if you are a god, you're gonna say yes. Yeah. Exactly. Bull F.M. try one from Alan Young. Yeah, you're right. I almost feel like it needs like a really heavy like... Are you thinking almost like a drum and bass thing like where it's like a block. Or like a big Phil Collins. Like a big Phil Collinsy. Collin in the air tonight. Drum in the middle. Hell yes. Alright. Just think Mike Tyson doing drumming in the air. Yes. That one wasn't bad either but I think that one goes... I've seen all these movies multiple times. Okay. For me like ghostbusters are movies. I mean I don't know. Like everyone. Like I love it. And for some reason or not they're like there's a lot of movies that my girlfriend didn't see that were popular when we were growing up because she lived out of the country. Because she's... I'm Holland. She's one of those. With Steven. And ghostbusters first. This is one. And like I played it for her probably. It was like... And Tyler one. Really laugh. It was like it's good but it's like so low key. Kind of novel statement. They need some energy at least in part of it. It seems like it's building and building and... I think that one... I think she watched it for the first time. She was just kind of... She was just kind of like meh. I'm just like meh. And you're like... You're like meh. You're like meh. Meh. Meh. Meh. That's a little bit how a future is the on topic. But it's only about you and me right now. The door. The door. The thought of impregnating you is presenting me with a meh. Meh. Some I have a baby who doesn't like ghostbusters. Does not capture the balls. At all. It didn't cradle. No it did not cradle. It did not that cradle the balls. Swell the gravy. Yeah. There's a 50/50 chance. It wouldn't appreciate genius. I know that movie is... I think it's just that we grew up with it and it was... What's that line in a... It's just another one of those movies where nostalgia makes it so much more than maybe it could ever hope to be again. I think the movie holds up well. To me. I think it holds up fairly well but I think that it holds up well for us because we saw it and liked it and now we... You know what movie you're talking about? It's the one with Jack Black and... And... And... You know where they're playing soldiers but they're not really like it. Maybe. I mean I've even seen like you know some 50s movies when I was in that Bible and film class when I would watch like... Oh Tropic Thunder. Tropic Thunder. You know and there's that part where he's like feaning for drugs. It's like the... It's like the... Is that called the Trout or what I forgot? I can't think of what it's called right now but it's like... No, it wasn't the shut of turn. It was just about the... I think it was about the cape of the guy that killed Jesus. Anyways. That stabbed him with the spirit. Oh. And you know all these 50s movies and they would be cheesy and stuff but they would still hold up like the story and stuff and the characters. Still good even. I also feel like those movies. Whatever you want man. Swallow shaft. No, created the balls. Like the shaft. Swallow the grave. Just don't. Let's see. Let's hold up. I'm really... I remember from that movie when I remember... Selective about the old movies that I'll watch and really enjoy. No, I'm just saying that I still feel like they... That's insane. And that movie is... You never go full retail. And people that they still can. And I... I'm supposed to just kind of like that too. Like the effects are in that perfect time frame where they don't look like super super really guilty cheesy. Like I think like a lot of the effects in like a lot of the Carrie Potter and stuff aren't gonna hold up. No. And the reason that a lot of effects in Ghostbusters hold up is because they were practical effects that were built around puppets. Right. That's what I'm saying. And when I put it in a sentence that way it sounds a lot dumber than it sounded like. Right. The next one doesn't have a name. 'Cause it didn't get nothing. Let's just put to it. But it's called rebelofm.mp3. Here we go. Uh, get back like this. This is the one time. Oh. Oh. And the guy just back on top of it 'cause we're not the geek box. Yeah. There's no AIDS or smallpox in this room. Nope. Apparently Ryan said that a rebelofm gives hepatitis. That's his comeback. So I would rather you have hepatitis like Pamela Anderson than fucking AIDS. Did you just pour water into your lap? On accident. But I actually intentionally poured it onto my leg. I just poured a lot more than what I meant to. We're white. Is it the brine, you know? It's really good. I was trying to clean black bean out of my pants. Swerving back on topic. It's really cold. It's really cold. One of the fun things so far. And again, I don't know how far I am into the game is that almost immediately it starts. It's taking you back to places that the movies visited. The first level is the hotel where you originally met Slimer and you meet a bunch of other. Does it have that hotel manager who you like? Top two. No, they're perfect. It's cool. It's up tight. I was going to say did they get recurring characters like that asshole who works for the city that's always put you out of the business? Yes. It's in the game. Oh cool. Oh I like it. Pack is a pointed head of a peacock which is like the paranormal center or paranormal committee for oversight or something like that. Which basically means you have to work with him. How do you get that job after the second movie? I don't know. And it has the same voice after doing the mayor that was in Go. I just need some stomping and tamarind. Jugs. So that was a definite maybe. That was really good. I really like that one I was busters. But it elaborates on story elements from the other movies like the level I was because it's so just in basically it's different from everything else that the origins and the motivations of the Grey Lady which is the ghosts in the library from the first one. Oh the one that just yelled at them? The one that would shh everyone. Yeah and then did that crazy face? Yeah it turned into crazy face. We got. Man. You know what that sounds like? Any other podcasts, the music I've ever heard. You know what I could say about that one that sounds like an outro. That would be almost like great as like an outro or something because it's like exactly. She does turn into crazy face eventually. Do you take her out? You trapper yes. Do you have to? Take no. I was going to say take no prisoners but actually that's pretty much all you do. It ends with. Why? Why? Because then you would only get to. Welcome to eternal hell because I don't know if you guys ever saw the cartoon but that place did not seem like a good place to go to. Which speaking which in the cartoon how the hell did they go in there? I don't even want to go into it. You do go into an alternate dimension. I mean it's like a dimensional white spot or something like that I think. But anyway, the graphics are so so the character like my balls are weird like that's correct. That's not bad. Two songs? Yeah. No I we're looking for an intro. Quite of the balls. But we could have giant foreheads and overly shiny skin like. So what you're saying this is this is what happens when your publisher walks out on you halfway through. That's how you didn't walk out on them halfway through. I don't know but always have an outro. I don't know. Sierra did. Oh that's right. No I don't think so. I just think that the engine that they that they've been touting is this amazing thing isn't up to the task of doing the game dresses. It almost makes me a little sad that. Let's keep going. I like it though. Arthur wants to pick three fucking. A company that isn't known for a particular. Ahh. Ahh. I'm there. I'm there. Come here. Come here. Bogglingly awesome games is the company that got ahold of a Ghostbusters game with a script written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. The voice acting by the original cast is sort of spotty too. I heard there are times that uh why am I thinking. Basing I was thinking right now. Bill Murray. Bill Murray. Exactly. He just sounds like he doesn't want to be there. No. Like recording his lines. Um and Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis are better but there are still points where it sounds like they were recording separately as opposed to in the same room. Rebel the me Dave still. DICE. Rebel. Fongy. No. So there's none of that. Which they probably were. Back and forth. Yeah I mean that's just the nature of game recording usually. Um and the lip syncing is a little weird and off. Winston who is in the game and I actually wasn't sure that he would be. Little June 19th night. This is probably not ironically because I think he's done game voice work in the past but his voice work seems the best. And Alyssa Milano is in it as well and her voice acting is pretty terrible. The text is good. Is it done by the guy who played the text? Yes. It's what we do here. See this one does a good job of building. Yeah. Alright. The star reminds me a little bit. Yeah. This one has like a very podcast intro. What else have you been playing? Uh uh. Well I wasn't quite done with that because I've had people asking me if it's worth playing it. And I'm just kidding. Did you not hear what I said? I was just trying. No I don't. I ignore you when you speak. I'm sick and you fucked it up. I'm sure that you succeeded. I just didn't hear it. What's up? Do you think it's worth playing? It sets a really great atmosphere in a lot of parts and it's actually kind of spooky and scary at times which is nice but the combat mechanic is not fantastic. No I like the little fat piece. This one also has some bumps in there. I think it has like a longer version. It's fantastic. I find myself enjoying the game more when I'm not firing the proton accelerator. So are you saying for you maybe it's more of like if you were in the scheme of like getting it you would think more of a rental maybe than a pro? Purchase? Uh yeah. Especially given that it's supposed to be really short. Um I'm playing on casual as recommended by David Ellis and playing it on casual makes me think I really would not have any fun playing this on normal. Why is it pretty difficult even on casual? It's not that it's pretty difficult. It's just that like there are moments that are frustrating enough on casual in combat. Right and I guess for that game you're really playing because you want to know the story. Exactly. Um and those just sound like they're from like the Sega Genesis sound board. So I think he just included like multiple. Yeah he did like like little segments. Different cuts and bumps. And in that respect they're doing really well and Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis really knew what they wanted to do and it doesn't seem like a lot of story got cut out so far. So I'm actually optimistic about the story unfolding in a way that doesn't first track ended with a team hacked together. Yeah I mean I heard that uh the game's doing well enough that the rumors they might actually finally green light the movie a new movie because apparently the games have been sold out like everywhere. Now granted they get very limited quantities of it in but it just sells out whenever they're getting it. Yeah. Yeah. Alright. I can't hear you. It's got pretty good. For real. My name record. Mission. Did any listeners get a get a hold of some uh auto tune? I'd imagine. Uh man that would have been an instant win. Yeah. Yeah I think so. I think a lot of people didn't expect it to perform like it was. Yeah. Um. Yeah. Alright. I mean it's total fan service the entire time if you're obsessed with Ghostbusters but not not to the point where anything that isn't up to the standards of the first movie um is going to disappoint you then there's probably a lot to like here I mean the state puff marshmallow man is in the first fucking level so and you do blast him off the side of the building. Nice. How do they... Alright I'll play it. I'm just thinking myself how do they bring him back? He's a man. This one is Rebel FM_Small by Mark Williams who also submitted one that we did a few seconds ago. He's broken up. An infestation of Gozer? How's Gozer come back? I don't want to know. I'll just play it. Alright. See the story is interesting enough to make you want to play it if you like the other movies. Um. It does have multiplayer which seems like it's it's own sort of campaigns but it's not. Yeah and I've heard the Wii version is good as well. Um talking to John Davison he said that he really enjoyed the Wii version. Yeah and David gave it a pretty good score too. Yeah. So the graphics will probably be are probably better like or easier to stomach and that there are much more highly stylized. On the Wii version? Yeah. So it's really good to put my balls without even asking me. That's not how it's cool. That's Buster's cartoon more or less. Cool. Um but it just what like playing it it feels like a missed opportunity on a lot of spots especially presentation wise. Yeah maybe if I hadn't gotten shuffled around and I'd been with the right company to start with. Yeah it's just like the way that the cinemas are presented don't have particularly great or interesting. At least it came out right. That was the game that People Feared was going to get was just going to be dead until Atari picked it up. So that's another one of those games. Can you just imagine like the producer in the booth saying stop. Activision's probably like hmm maybe we didn't make the right call with that one so. Um I have heard we briefly touched upon this a few weeks ago but the PS3 version is seriously technically inferior to the 360 version. Right but I guess in the scheme of things the least the most important thing is you get the story I guess. Yeah. So there's that. Yeah it's good. No. Just gonna say you know how we always talk about how the PS3 has better audio because it doesn't have to compress. Yeah. It was weird because you know the Monkey Allen game that came out today. Uh the Xbox 360 one is like a 130 meg download and the steam one is playing. Stop. Then the guy in the booth just like not hearing it at all. Yeah because I've played with me those bands. Awww. Good ganks and I couldn't figure out why that would be other than maybe the audio's for all the voice acting is uncompressed. Wait. On the PC one. Are you sure? Yeah. We just did it today at work and the PC one was two gigs. I did not understand that. Maybe multiple languages. Maybe. Yeah maybe that's it. I hear a resolution. That's such a bizarre discrepancy. Yeah. That game though looks really cool and Ryan liked it a lot but the w- [laughs] It's- the most fun is watching Tyler's reactions honestly. One downside of it is that you can't skip the dialogue when it's going on. Like imagine Mass Effect where you couldn't like A to go through it while someone's talking you had to listen to every word that came out of their mouth even if you had subtitles on it. I think Mass Effect is a bad example. Why? Why? Because generally the dialogue Mass Effect is really good. Right but even at times when you're going through like times at playing you didn't listen to it all you'd really listen to like the first three fourths of it and then stop and hit A. True. Yeah and imagine a gamer you just you can't do that especially like the second time you accidentally walk up and say the same thing or something right? That's like the one thing that drove Ryan insane. Yeah that would be frustrating. But it is pretty crazy when you go back and you look at like the 256 color like 640 by 48. That vein on your forehead is saying something. [laughs] That one's probably a no. [laughs] It's like a big graphics and you can switch instantly between that and the all new art. Man a crazy amount of work went into that. A range of like. That's pretty cool. I never played it so I might I'm going to check that out. Yeah this can seem interesting to me too just because I'm not familiar with that genre. The adventure games yeah I mean you really should check that out and then you should check out the new episodic ones that are on steam as well. More Xbox Live. Uh yeah I guess so yeah. Get some achievements. Yeah. Maybe you could ask someone for a code. Tone you want to work. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah tell. Yeah tell codes. Tell tell. And he does a weird like off. Tell tell likes press. So. Not that there are a few like parts he really did like I could see how that would be cool and like some jazz thing or something but what else are you even uh some battlefield might. How was it feeling? In 43. Now let's just get that out of the way. Get it out. What do you say I like it say uh I mean what Anthony thinks is that I'm going to shit on it for 10 minutes and then you two are going to be the battlefield. Because I didn't put defense. I didn't say things like battle fail 1943 on my Twitter yeah well I love the game but I'm not blind. That's what comes into it. I'm not blind. All right uh next is theme I read. Um I think the thing that bothers me. No no no the most is res that I got this is his guest sucker and into EA again actually by Tiger Woods and then fights a night but fight night should have been my indication release. A lot of the same shit that he has been dealing with is still in place like they've been they've been notorious over the last few years for certain releases being extremely buggy like if you read Penny Arcade at all they bitch about Tiger Woods being a bug ridden mess every year and still buy it um but fight night has a bug that locked the game up for me on more than one occasion. If it is res I have had a save corrupted like irretrievably on fight night and then so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that there are serious technical issues of the 360 version of 1943 um but every issue that people have had with battlefield I have had. Yes the thing is that the technical server side stuff that stuff is server side that's one thing but what Arthur's talking about is more like the game randomly crashing his whole console. Yeah we're walking it up displaying really serious graphical artifacting and errors. Which is crazy because Tyler and I have had neither of those right. Well I mean I can say that they're I mean I've I've played a lot. Man he's got it very springy he's got that springy there's a lot of wages but there were probably like four matches where like I did see a few random like graphical errors but they were really pretty uh you know they didn't last very long it was really quick. The first I thought that my 360 was dying. Because that's what it looks like the the graphical artifacting that you see looks very similar to what a lot of people will see before the GPU on their 360 dies. And the system hard blocking is not does not lend confidence as well but other than that which is less common in which I would be more likely to look over look the way that multiplayer is being handled right now is still I mean I like it's a little mind-boggling that it has been fixed considering that it's a multiplayer only sure I'm pretty sure I have no doubt my mind that they're working seriously not only that but according to Tyler a lot of these problems were present on battlefield bad company which this engine this is using the bad company engine the frostbud engine right yeah this is something yeah that I'm sorry I was just gonna say I mean it wouldn't surprise me if like what's going on is like a combination of the fact that they don't have enough servers a combination with I like some of that melody and and some of those samples it went into a little bit too like silly areas but like that it doesn't have enough but maybe also the fact that you're going to like an EA thing as well I don't know it is because you're going through an EA thing and one of the reasons that people couldn't sign on originally couldn't get into a game is because battle for me in the middle there's only one isn't actually logging them into the EA servers right what you have to do yeah and all this just frustrates me because EA was a huge stickor about everything going through their servers I mean one of the reasons that it took it was such a big deal when EA left and it better be the one that I'm thinking I think it is okay I hope it is went to Xbox live it's that they were one of the only companies that had permission to run their own multiplayer servers right which is one of the wise we can pause and I can hear you since why EA games are some of the only games I'll forget it all right this is Rebel FM theme 60 where really the online support will be gone after a couple of years right yeah I mean I like it that it works as well as it does I do think that the player base size for 360 has been way more than expected like I definitely don't think that they expected to release that Coral C map like within five days of the game launching like I think that totally blew their mind like that's why they set the thing like 43 man kills that'll take a while no it won't I mean they it's in in some ways yes they're victim of their own success and that they they take a great time to release a game without any real sugar competition I have a hard time believing that that's the real problem to be all honest like cuz just just because as much as I played Battlefield bad company it's the same exact problems that they had during during that game like joining your friends joining your friends oh that stuff that stuff I don't think has anything to do with the server size okay I'm talking just the earlier stuff with people not being able to connect yeah yeah and I'll be able to mostly gone on the 360 one was never an issue on the ps3 one but I mean basically if you if you don't play with large groups of people or even like moderately sized groups of people if all you do is just really quiet I apologize I'll fix this one to pin to the game the chances are it will work just fine by yourself there is a there is a chance that the game will walk up your 360 because that is actually up into a lot of people there is a chance you'll see the graphical issues but the most infuriating thing so far has been the way that you play with friends or the way you can't play I mean because you and I are if you're we were in a room we were partied up together and I was the party leader we probably tried like eight to ten times to get a game yeah I got a game man I like this one a lot just because the samples are really simple and like me and Arthur do it it's fine because like me and Arthur could you use even even last night when we could join games and that was working and we weren't getting booted and the lag wasn't awful for some reason they don't automatically assume that if I'm trying to join someone on my friends list it should put me on the same team the whole thing was that there was no available spots in the other even but team even when even when there were available spots it wouldn't always put me on the same team and then what the match we would be on the same team and then the next match like two cheese of five it's very true to the source I like that we wouldn't be yeah I think the biggest thing that sucked those the private matches you have to have sixteen play like that a full game to start off I was like I was like dude two matches should be able to start as soon as there's even one person on each team like it's not even as far as I'm going to be able to just create it yeah like it's that's right if you want to go in the map by yourself like why are you stopping so basically what that means for people who aren't completely clear about that is that we will damn that was pointed on Sunday I think it was we tried to put together a game with a bunch of our friends but uh we're missing one because we posited really quick all right we're figured out we'll do a private match which is the only way we can we're positive we're not even gonna put that people together and first off we had to get sixteen people there have to be eight people on each team to use a career because that's how it's short this breaks going to be starting on one second game and then when we started the game after waiting like 25 minutes to get everyone in there it only took about half of those people into the game and booted everyone else out yep yep but and then most people that got booted those people that got booted couldn't join the game I just think whatever a code they're using is like fucked up for ports connect I remember the ports or some bullshit like that was actually that just makes it so like half the people aren't aren't set up right yeah in that same day like you know Nick Nick Suttner invited me into his room with like GPD and a few other people and like an Anthony user error of why when we skipped that this one is called they joined all three the other squad all three on the squad they joined but I got kicked and like even though Nick was sending me it's actually a person messages like there's a plot open join up join it up I would try to join up like you know Tyler even though probably and times in a row but never never could join just a it's a shame because the game is so fun I mean how exactly that's sitting here talking for 30 minutes about the problems when the game is fucking amazing yeah I mean that's what's infuriating if the game sucked them it's okay well it's a shitty shooter I just picked for the act but this is what the intro does best is this game and they do battle fields like and it's a simplified friendlier version of battlefield no less and very inexpensive yeah well for an arcade game it's a little pricey but for what it is yeah but we've been quoting it for a while it's perfect e3 yeah so this is theme of passion by Hans 2445 who has an appropriate name play reasonable it's just it wouldn't be frustrating if I didn't want to play it and a bunch of our friends wanted to play it and we all wanted to play it together and we couldn't and that hasn't been fixed hmm yeah although when I play it yeah I just jump and by myself and fly around in airplane for a little bit yeah that's fine but the thing is like yeah I've been playing with like a steady stream of listeners and yesterday we had just these great moments and some of the listeners had played battlefield on the PC as well yeah such a goddamn they were like these are the battlefield moments that were having like the situation was you know there was about six of us running together and we were just a horde you know we had two tanks and two jeeps and and we literally just sweep all the way across the map and you know if if if there's a real difficulty in like connecting with your friends and everything there's there's no way you're gonna experience that you know giant group of fucking when I play games online like my primary interest is to play with people I know and I said I'm not that's not not a lot of people yeah it seems like the best way to jump in with friends at this point is to join session in progress yep rather than trying to party up as a group first and jump in like you're just considered a let one person find a game and then and hope you end up on this yet I mean there there are other small things that are annoying but they don't ruin the game yet which is that a lot of people are picking smoke burrs a class and that gets really old but see the sniper class though I I feel like it's almost unnecessary other than the c4 charges because the the rifleman class that rifle so accurate shoot so far like you really don't need a sniper rifle the only time the only time that it's a pain those like if everyone's picking snipers they're easy to find if you have someone that's bothering to fly a plane because the plane they'll usually point them out for everyone with line of sight but if no one's flying a plane it is like what Arthur said where it'll be like there'll be three snipers in the map and now you're just getting hit whenever you spawn you're like where the fuck is that and even that's not that I mean that's not super irritating to me the thing that's annoying to me and this is something that I saw pointed out in her review on of the game I read today is that of all the awesome battlefield things that this game does well some of the same shit that was annoying in the other battlefield games are present which are things like people sitting on the carrier waiting to take the plane and that's all they'll do for the entire matches just fly around the plane yeah or people that will get in a boat and not wait for anyone else to jump in and just take it right before yeah yeah I mean there are those people too but yeah and and that's the thing it's almost like Anthony was talking it's like I think battlefield more so than other online shooter has a really good balance for lone wolves and groups you know like cuz well yeah that's all fine and good except when I have to spend five minutes swimming to shore because someone took me and that is such a rare thing in that game though because that would require all the points in the map to be taken and for there to be no boats there that's that's not that common it is common to happen in the beginning of the game it is it is a really not I never that's gonna happen to me well let's make the public service announcement you're in powerful yeah forty three way to other boy in your boat it's more fun riding to start with people anyways it is way more fun when you have people in your boat man or may a fucking plane torpedo your ass oh no no you just got to watch out for the planes and make sure your gunners know where the plane is not if it's only you in a boat though if it's only you in a boat it's you in a boat you're able to switch and you go straight to machine gun and you take your chances man but other than that it's it's really fun like the game actually looks really good it's fast like you can never assume that the game is over until very near the end yeah I seen a lot of games switch winning sides really quickly with a bunch of listeners we were down pretty but pretty bad I'd late at the beginning of one match but but I was just like motivating the troops I was like come on guys you know I don't want to hear you this I don't want to hear this loser talk you know like we're gonna come back and we did man that that was the match we were on Wake Island and you know the whole island if you know the listeners haven't played the game basically shaped like a giant V yeah horseshoe yeah like a giant horse shoe and we would basically start from one end and just sweep all the way around to the other end of the island and then there would be a boat that you could travel across the channel and we would just all pile up in the boat travel to the side and start over you know and I guess the team never caught up to us and we had our comeback yeah man so with a rocket launcher should have got wise to that oh no man we were and I was like swerving you don't have to be the guy that can kill 8 million people to be useful either no not at all or even to have a score on your team mm-hmm said to be a warm body that can stand in the flag exactly yeah yeah I mean maybe maybe you did dice just a little too much in their plate I don't know I mean they're making this bad company to and oh I should send him something there oh man that might be one of the more uh battlefield heroes I mean that's a lot I know a little something else that they're working on it creative of them all now two that isn't Mayor's Edge - yeah maybe I don't know what would make you think that I'm pretty sure that it was announced that DICE are working on a project that isn't any of those things I haven't heard that you could be right I don't keep up on every bit of news but yeah but like when I checked out a battlefield bag company because I don't know way 2d3 my main concern was just the whole friend buddy system partying up and when I asked them about that they could basically there was nothing they could tell me that made me think they were on top of it you know they didn't say oh yeah we know that problem we have it locked down they were just like we will ensure that we will keep saying and you know what I just like what makes me laugh is I picture um strong sad singing this blah blah blah you and your European speak it's it just makes me less likely to be a day one adopter of a multiplayer I had multi-player probably some of the bad companies you know I have having played it yeah yeah oh man bad company too is like is like is like uh 1943 but with with terrain deformation added on but it's such a cockties not being able to play with my friends and well we'll see maybe it won't be like that exactly we will see after it's been out for a week and I was not the asshole beta tester that bought it on day one shit I will or coach be there you kind of talks like I got first part yeah man I think it's perfect for me it's a it's way you know kind of what else have you been playing Anthony Tyler me three way yeah the I finished my first of four campaign the other day as you win as the German of course at once yeah I was a campaign on you saw the victory screen yeah yeah and and the thing was like when I ended I've I basically created like a nuclear winter on earth like the spec oh did you say like continue playing or just one more turn like that yeah yeah it was just one more time as one yeah and uh and then y'all pointed out that that one at the beginning that was longer that one that had that cool song that I went into but went too short from there I just uh declare war with every other nation and then the cool one that's got kind of like uh the eight bit snoot every nation repeatedly for about four turns so you figure that out then yeah and then I got global warming warnings like every ten seconds really yeah like says a global warm warming over the city global warming over the city and you hear little trumpet the last day but then we played before glowing that was great but um I heard this weird like thing I saw linked on spike today about porn stars and one of them which is a pretty popular porn star like she obsesses over and idolizes to that one no no I was talking more about uh the one that the country one yeah well it's it's more like a flogging molly really than country yeah yeah I mean I still really like that eight bit one that we admire in the civilization series whoa I heard a random tangent that the reason Megan Fox is appealing is because she has the acting quality and looks of a cheap porn star yet for some reason we all accept her I whoever says that hasn't seen a lot of porn stars try to act Megan Fox acting may not be an academy award winning performance but Jesus Christ trust me right she's heading shoulders above porn star acting a fox is a yeah yeah to me those are the worst looking tattoos I've ever seen really what is that it's like Marilyn Monroe on her forearm and it is like the three that I'm going between it's like a portrait and the eight that was just to me and the vlogs like molly sounding sort of one and the and the first the blip yeah I guess that's true for me too it is a little trash I feel like the app or the tattoos can look really bad well that it's hard to do tattoos on the arm that aren't sleeves that look good for some reason especially young girls yeah so but Jennifer's body looks like it might be funny no idea what I'm talking about um the next big movie that she's in is Jennifer's body which is written by Diablo Cody to check the rojino and the premise is that this rock band tries to sacrifice her as a version to the devil and she's not a virgin the glitch or so she gets possessed instead instead of murdering people that sounds really dumb but it could the trailer is actually pretty fun well when you do one that one it's it's just super long what's I'm saying obviously it would be like you would cut like a forty second loop out of it with it like fade in like I think I'll be the thirty second premise like that I'm like red light rather than on that one exactly and it's executed well it could be really good the only thing that like really lends it any any cred whatsoever is the fact the Diablo Cody is writing it right I'm just saying it's like when you see like if you told me the thirty second breakdown for like that newest Jack Black movie all right so there's two guys oh it's the fucking like cave manner right and they go on the world's first road trip we have a movie of my animal drawn wagon that movie might just be as bad as the premise makes it sound considering how badly it died in theaters right so ouch maybe the three of those will have to say the hangover so Tyler Tyler what else you've been fucking playing man other than you finish you finish your save campaign you did fucking nuclear winner yeah and then I also have some more I have some more clear summer deliberation between us yeah do it right now as far as I'm just and we could use any of those three and I would be happy I think especially just and I'm making it in the top three maybe the next well I I started up another campaign in a the Civ Beyond the sword expansion which we had a little discussion enough and I haven't really tried it and someone was kind enough in the comments to put to break down what the expansions offer yeah they they broke it down but they also said that if you install them all that you'll be able to access the content from just the regular Civ 4 which isn't true like the only way you can get at least not in steams and yeah at least three episodes we lead with the not in steams because I'm playing a lower steam so maybe it's different if you have the discs but three songs and then we choose which one will stay the way I had to do it I have to like load up how about that you know Beyond the sword and then that way it's like we're trying the it's like we're bringing forward to access all those sieves and a shoes home wearing them for a day and we get to return I would have to load up colonization to do all the way hold on for a second tell me that the interest or music to sieve now that you've played it isn't like the best song ever dude I'm playing it in the whole time Jodi sitting next to me and it's just like oh my god this is so good I love the music but not even in the game I'm talking about just the interest gain. Oh yeah it's it's called Baba yet to and it's actually that soul song is the Lord or it's like wearing it's prayer in in Swahili and the real reason I know that is because when I went and saw video games live when I saw video games live they fucking had a live choir perform it and the life so your skin burning and knew that it was the word of God I thought it was rad though I was so happy dressed a prom with the tag on it mm-hmm not that I wore dressed a prom yeah let's do that let's let's have him as the intro for the next three yeah I think that's and then we'll have that's man that is pretty old maybe rad Jodi has sang in video games live twice and he's when it went to Easton she was in the Houston Symphony course so they used she was she part of the Halo course yes he was part of the Halo course yeah yeah her favorite song that they did though was the God of War theme she liked that one a lot well nowadays if she was in it she could sing it with fucking Sephiroth song right no maybe we could well then you sang that one to say that one truth she would always sing you just took away all there's help decide well the cool she do the right from the best thing I don't think we should say songs before something okay we're gonna get well I'm going to get my serious Sephiroth haters like 30 comments in the third he's got to be the outro one of the shows yeah I think that's like that's sure he should be Sephiroth one two six five ff seven says fuck you Arthur your final fantasy hey if only you knew your ass from a good video game you fucking prick indeed those are serious well that's those all be written by me I check the IP is that RIP address in the comments yeah dude I'm an old school man give me Tara and lock any day of the week so to fucking suffer off the cloud yeah did you play anything besides sieve I love it so Hans if you would if you would email me at AEGI yes that eat that sleep that I think it's sad when we talk about doing after music and no it's just been seven battlefield to the vein I haven't played anything besides battlefield and can you talk about rigor yeah it's out the games out rigu attack I believe is what it's called on the DS since called towers on we which when you buy them together unlocks additional levels on both it makes a remove Ultron yeah they they and I think they're I think they're priced to where buying them to make you said gathers like the price of a normal we game so I think the DS when oh man going cons email is please $19 that's game on me so which is pretty well we grad because there's like 70 something 60 fucking things okay it was sick isn't that game and the break and then we'll come back to you exactly what led to that rigor is circle of no you have no idea you can go read my old review on one up it's still there or you could tell on 360 I'm just saying it's the three sixty one it's been on Xbox live arcade for like a year now and it's just a so I guess it's technically a puzzle game where there are shapes falling from the air and the shapes are triangle squares circles hearts triangle squares circle hearts like a star and a star and stars and so and they fall from the sky and then you have to rotate these circles that look like Fisher Price things and the right shape has to fall through the right thing and that starts off really easy one shape falling at a time you're rotating it through a series of discs and then it does fucked up things like they'll go backwards up through it and so the rotation is opposite of what it was and then they'll do other things where like when it passes through one of them speed shoots it down to the next one to where you have to like instantly rotate like three spaces you know because you don't have very much time to react or it'll do things where it'll rain like eight at once but they're staggered about like half a second behind each other so you have to sit there and rotate the thing to perfectly catch each one you have a life bar when you miss and slowly goes up and then eventually they do things like add enemies to the platforms or like they'll do really fucked up things in the DS one like a change the colors of them even though the shapes are still the same so the whole will still have like a red line around for the for the circle with squares that you'll end up fucking it up like they do fucked up stuff like that all the time that's what his name and profanity the game yeah I mean it gets it gets really really challenging I'm on the tenth area and there's like three levels left and then beyond that it has single cart multiplayer play which is like where you do a level and you can like send enemies at your to the other people in the two who can complete the level the fastest so I mean you know single cart multiplayer play is always random the DS first of all and then it has multi-cart play as well which probably allows difference and I haven't had a chance to check out what the we in DS version together do but I know it unlocks additional content as well so it's pretty good I mean it's a great puzzle game it's pretty unique and it's made by like a six man team so yeah you can check out a trial a demo of it on Xbox live arcade I know it's not the way you're the DS version but it'll give you an idea it's totally the same game it's just a higher as I mean and maybe not quite all the same levels I think though the version might have more levels than the Xbox live arcade version but and it sounds like a game that would be really fun to play just sort of on your DS actually more than on the TV yeah the only thing is that there are times that maybe that it doesn't have people might get screwed up translating the falling bricks the first one between the ask from Nick go gap hey guys I just wanted to offer you all quick but deeply screens oh did they not have the setting that lets you choose gap or no gap yeah I know it's it's no gap okay it's just I'm saying that in your mind like just having to where you actually have to transition from one screen to the other right can fuck some people up probably I got used to it but like space invaders extreme had the option to do gap or no gap right yeah I think it's kind of neat but I don't know I think it's great yeah and it is really fun on DS that's felt compliment for the image I think where the game belonged in the first place like it's fun on Xbox live arcade but it's so cutesy like this the premise of it RUGU is about a planet called like RUGU excellent writing discussion episode 24 as a medical copywriter who has worked in pharmaceutical industry for nearly seven years an industry that spends a colossal amount of time effort and cash towards writing about drugs for physician audiences think in there there are MIMU and RUGU I think are this good in the year these bears the RUGU fight the MIMU over these shapes that fall from space oh you're you're a bear yeah it's like a bear race looking people oh I thought they were like squirrels no they can I guess they kind of look like squirrel bears or something yeah and so like like told and the elusive squirrel and so RUGU's are they all the MIMUs were also RUGU at one point but they started hoarding these shapes for their powers and they turned it evil so you're like the good RUGU leading a fucking like revolution because very impressed with against the fucking MIMU to retake like the area so that's the premise and I know for a fact that this the whole idea for this game came to the creator's mind from a fucking dream he had he woke up at night and wrote it down some well since clear concise and well constructed discussion about mastering the craft writing I've listened to several other games related podcast discuss the ubiquitous listener question how do I become a games rewriter how do you write about games a dream code for heavy use of a listen to genix he he's my ska I think that this is a game that it sounds like a game made by Elrond Hubbard we'll get painfully overlooked so because people will see the storm be like RUGU attack the fuck is that but it's great but it feels more than than a grand theft auto DS now I doubt it grand theft auto DS still says month to month that's the thing so it's still doing like like between a hundred and two hundred thousand units a month I don't think so so and their answers are you but uh guys about DS really so vague they're useless do terribly by any means it's this technical advice was so on point into the point I'm saving this episode so I'll have an available form like people thought grand theft auto will writing tips reference on call freeze feel free to forward games and do so with our different expectations that are set in the world especially set by rockstar it did it did terribly I think those expectations were set by analysts and the games media and rockstar no I think they're mostly said by rockstar rockstar is a company of it's I don't know I feel like rockstar sets knows what their game sell it's not like take you know I think rockstar also lives on a different planet to some extent wherever this to him as a world as a game it's a plan an excellent view of the market from from there whereas someone like take two is like we were expecting to sell eight million copies of Bioshock to yeah but not until next year well I'm just telling and then you did from personal experience he says ps fat penis is a sentence fragment which is only kind of true depending on how you use it like I can sometimes use fat penises a way of saying goodbye it just takes the place of the word goodbye I yeah they they've got the diva thing down pretty well yeah they're the only company we're seeing fly someone out the hand deliver around UPS overnight is to not good enough for rockstar almost everyone I've met in the gaming industry in the games media like has a rockstar story having the rockstar PR people are freaking they're great I think they used to have people that were not so great but I don't mean like these days are stories of information stories of ridiculousness yeah yeah I mean they rent the loft in San Francisco or sometimes go that they don't use so they use for demos that penis is a way of saying like awesome which came out I just want to smell the sentence fragment I did for it on to Jason I was I will live there I'm sorry it took me so long to say something it's just so hard to while you would like you know I will serve expensive cheeses and fruit during your game it's so big that I could have a bowling alley in there by the way it's like and then still and have a bowling alley in a dance floor and then still have the area where I lived jeez it's huge think about anything and every time I go in there I feel like it's like I'm entering a room where it's like 10 minutes later they're going to strip it down like that right after like it feels like I've been going there to do like a high-priced drug trade or something yeah so this is correct is anything but a review and you can talk about no it's so I'm glad that I think we're good I mean that's it we've been pretty boring this week we'll have more next week and you have something pretty juicy to talk about more it's already 50 something minutes so we still it's gonna say is it's just it's hard to think with this tongue it's like 15 minutes short of how long it usually is so we can do better well the second section might take a while so we'll be back in just a second to start judging fucking maliciously judging you're you're far up my asshole oh you're hard okay like see big efforts of fucking art you can install us have had bad days and that's for and we'd like to make ourselves feel better a shitting sponge I forgot all right I did for it on the Jason and his response for those thanks maybe I should that's a guy for some work okay this is from be that's all you said which pistol production I used to remove the here and smell did you use the product alone so we're back and speaking with you know the guys you've been playing battlefield with before we launched into judging these songs which in advance I apologize if there's body out of equality at the beginning we're actually miking the laptop speaker with a Bissell stiso but a carpet cleaner this is in reference to a podcast from a letter a couple of you've been teaching how you've been teaching the big school yeah use is the Bissell spotless actually you it's funny you mentioned one of the listeners I play with regularly quality beats is DJ himself oh yeah that guy yeah so he's always talking about like yeah man he was just here with powerbrush and it's an actual dog wish we could get that air horn sample on here yo it's like give it to me I need it all right note to self never play with Tyler again I think it's adorable that you have banana riders you have tea baggers piece of heart we were like yeah and cleaning fluid comes with the bottle of cleaning fluid banana either but the cleaning fluids always sold at the store to them you this first one is be far with a water plus some time we use all Fantasia are we saying who did each one yes okay so this is by Brian Salazar from Affirmal Fantasia here we get to like a combination of like other carpet cleaners too important lastly good start so you can hear us talking is that the carpets we're gonna say it sound like the music that was in Bruno like I saw it this weekend and but when you start works pretty good for us and it scrubs and then vacuums with the water but if you want to get yeah if you want to get the piss out man you're gonna have to do it like be prepared hold on yeah you need to be Johnny on the spot 20 times there so that was if you really that was that was if you wanted to roll Fantasia we want to play it one more time and ideally thought it's talking over it well no I think it was fine yeah I think once through it would be good what do you guys think that was a good composition I enjoyed what was it fat penis I think I heard a few times and fat fat balls which I mean I guess technically the only one here with fat balls is Tyler from what I understand but for at least I don't know man to you know I mean to get it where as you have out of this thing we did it way more than three or four times like three or four it's just like we did full site from what you said the hairiest balls in the planet that was in reference to a question asking how to get this nothing to be proud of so yeah I don't know put that in the maybe pile yeah sure it's not that it isn't near and dear to my heart it's just that I feel like there's a little cat piss out of thing I need to be crossed by having balls against against new listeners who are not familiar with our humor fad penis right which we have a lot of experience with so this is another letter he writes a long ass that's the greatest first impression all right all right so the next one is a glitz in parentheses chuck a spazz by Matt grana wet thing let's see his name is Michael on last week's show yet we may not is this the four minute one yes okay so maybe we should only play like the first 90 seconds or so okay here we go not that it's bad listener contact you regarding warm very strong sounds like marching but he's got this cool thing coming up over specifically if you could recommend them as a fairly long listener I know I've done this before or I know you've done this before see this is good because it's like our city you could forward this to that ring up into parts like at the end cool because it's like progressive you know it's it has that like forward moving like video game music like marching forward on to the podcast I'd be glad to help sounds like movie gotten dumped so sounds like it could be on a rat attack says that if you're really looking for a great series to get behind read the gaunt gaunts ghosts if they had some kind of high books yeah like a guitar the first couple books are slow pace but the third book develops into one of the best storylines I've ever over it he had some piano it's nice he's got my grandma it's nice man I would put this on the refrigerator I actually had Avenue and we're already a minute into it I'm like not like any of the stuff right yeah it's good I like this one a lot actually I think this is this is a definite like I may be for me yeah yeah yeah they took on the words other series the eyes and horn and raven or ravenor ravenor trilogies are also excellent but a different style thing but doesn't eat it's just like a cool musical intro man you could throw like some Tyler some Tyler hip-hop over this there you go there's there's the wrong times about killing there's some other people in 19 those are some of them try to get in your boat with a war hammer me should try to get a dirty tea Sean Elliot that metal all right so that was it was glitz by Chuck as fast I actually there should be our glitz Chuck as fast books that he recommends he said that the one I recommended dead sky black sun was the one as by man yeah is good but he so I think it's in the middle of the series so I think that one's a how one's a damn respectable that one's true that was a really good composition like Tyler said yeah good mellow groove so I didn't really realize that because it kind of picked up and was kind of like the next one is Chet that's the name of this one by even a kid dude I had this hard quarantined kid that lived down the street from me named Chet he sounds like a white kid with a fat neck he yeah yeah yeah he did kind of a fat neck but we always make the joke that like hey Chet what what you having for breakfast mimes and eggs so now on to a quick question from same guy all you're talking about so far has gotten me interested in the series in the past I got sieve three but wasn't really impressed by it well I'm not involved I think I eliminated all the drowning ones not remember turn based strategy I can get really sounds like an attack and pending attack I kind of like that idea involved in it if it's good is sift for different enough from sieve three to look really to really look into or if I found it's a three bad should I say away from sieve four to be more specific with it I didn't find sieve three to be particularly bad wow the welcome to hell podcast it's just that I never really got sucked into it and with the length of an average game it becomes difficult to play Jesus Christ don't be mean no I mean it I mean it's not that it's bad it's just I don't like I just don't typically listen to like noise no okay and I'm not really opposed it's pretty bad too greatly in games is I'm still a huge fan of sins in the sins of the solar empire either way great podcast keep it up but that was I want to know how he made some of those sounds sound like it sounds like a backwards something something something something let's move into the first entry from also really appreciate all the work from Nick Doug regarding getting drunk in chowsty yeah we for some people they submitted more than one entry and writing and your recommendation that we might as well of on playing the first one from Nick writing was invaluable name so I don't know I didn't play enough sieve three to make a real judgment on time a little mix of kind of fun fun poppy makes me feel like I'm on investment of time and rollercoaster or something probably cut out going by the cowboy maybe you're just speaking gibberish to me because of accessibility and tree is important to you then you might want to try civilization revolution well he didn't say that he played he says he's trying to send the solar we're now going to go into the second one by Nick right now this one is like a very much like a good yeah what a huge time investment and learning curve a movie intro feel or like a or a children's television show yeah like cartoon like a bill night of science guys right me tense so I don't know so to me it almost sounds like maybe it's a more of it might just be the formula of sieve you just don't like gravity he's not going to study electricity all right so those were the two from Nick I actually thought those were both really good I think the first one he said has gone I can't make it not copyright material in it I mean the second one I thought was I can't really make a good recommendation to you there good - I just die I mean I don't know right now I'm my personal favorite is still a glitz Chuck spaz like that one yeah Chuck spaz is still still down good other than good job with the sentence but those were excellent I mean yeah we're like 30 second clips yeah I did a lot in those 30 seconds I mean you can probably find really well put together we're not some reviewers people all right so for on sale at some point on steam for pretty cheap so so this is by the next one is but yeah I uh Steven weekly and it's just called rebel FM intro project - this one's 11 seconds so I'm trying to remember this one I can't it wouldn't be the most costly experiment or going here we go welcome to rebel at dance try and find it in the store look online see who has it on sale getting older at this point but you could probably find a good deal it's like what a year to have that is an excellent note for that song to end on that wasn't bad I mean it's got a very recognizable maybe we're not there's already been too extreme to it I think it was the pac-man theme I think it's I think it's just maybe it's more straight a video game though two or three expansions going for it was the pac-man theme I know so I'm saying straight up like obvious I mean like the the length was good for like a radio but like you know how they the radio likes have really short clips you know work for some kind of like what get what uh um alright this is from Chris one up FM just to do where they would have the really quick things in between clips where they wouldn't play music they would just have a thing that goes like really quick like yeah five second spot where it's like one up or something right the Arthur and Tyler konnichiwa bitches you know it worked um perfect for that but we don't do that shit at that I'm about to dig into the latest podcast podcast doesn't exist anymore oh all right the next one is also by Steven weekly and it's called the I see it's called before I do the f-ups lazy I wanted to share something that maybe narration remix oh okay yeah this one makes me feel better about saying the last one was awful I had a chance to see like well because this is a really good one right just all right welcome to a show about these people who play video games and then write about it walk myself apologies if you had already seen it was flipping through an old comic book at the school where I teach and came across a great two-page ads red for echo aside from me didn't include very much of that if that was his song then that was pretty amazing yeah I actually think that one's really cool too yeah you should send us a longer clip of that steam mind to me maybe I mean well I want the guy sound like a youth obsession but get an accident at the beginning and then the singer son until he america mazes being an illustrator graphic wonder if it was a designer an avid Ico lover I love the fear I mean a lot of people sing with that's true that's true I mean uh you should send us that full clip because what it can come down to is we don't necessarily have to have one theme song every week we can always have a whole that we alternate between hoping this is a new one from a new video company we were showed it to us eco eco really like it's even we want to hear more of that I know people to say both ways so if that is your the song you should send us more of it something you know just taking some shit off people all right the next one is wrong my Tyler B yeah is that you when I saw the email in my inbox that's like Tyler sent a theme song I sent music to you guys you know I'll first start the rebel film you probably sent those to Nick but Tyler B rebel FM intro that's what it's to me it's something seems like eco is what I would naturally say about 25 seconds here we go okay got a bit sampled groove going so he's good okay um but yeah yeah it was rad and I had actually I pulled in that and it is required yeah it might you know it might sound a little trebley on the audio rebel when it was in print it was like basically a two-page spread all right so that was that was that was cool I mean that's you're the world is going forever yeah I don't I am not a DJ for so um yeah the giant maze he says his question is do you think the last I like that when I just uh that one guardian will make it wasn't bad in any way but it didn't some reference to for one of the previous games still it was like they did at the end of Shadow Colossus with the very low key it didn't grab me not yeah I mean I like I think that person this talent it's just uh yeah I like how like mellow it was but protagonist reborn as a baby with horns still what I like about the glitz one is that it was kind of mellow and laid back but it was also yeah I felt like it had a movement to it you know like yeah a telos all right next one is uh just called rebel FM song it's by Mark Williams 50 seconds I was really sad when I read this email because I have never played through show wow cool oscillator and are you any you coming out here it took you game show uh I'll say yes to the first note of the second oh that's right none of this is the one where you can't hear the fucking lyrics at all I like it it's like there's like there's somebody in the back doing like the rest are going to took yeah um bingo or something I like an auction engineer yeah I don't see why the guitars are so well and not I don't I don't see why he wouldn't make reference to yeah too past whoa yeah it's like he here he's like a jello be offered a coffee shop and I would tell the tape recorder to him in the email and just said that you behind him wait is and it sounds like a van where they get a drunk person up on stage with them they're just like I'm confirmed that they all I'm so drunk right now just in this all right same sort uh are you right over there the guitars and that were pretty rad but I the vocals could have been brought up and uh it's a no the it's a no but the other part of it is that if we wanted to just listen to fucking babble over guitars we can listen to our own pocket no we got one coming up that's the quote-unquote universe you know that they're all the same the same fictional reality or yeah all right the timeline or things he also says this is probably the most important part of his email dibble over guitars all right the next one is rebel femtry one by allen young his fat penis in japanese thing so many syllables uh christ we're not going to yeah i like the TGS however if you want to put a flannock to the one up in your place and token the wall it's cool man reminds me part of like uh made like a song a school fan would write you know it seems like there should be more of like a uh we would come up heavy drum beat in there all right that was rebel femtry one from allen young yeah you're right i almost feel like it needs like a really heavy like uh by like i was thinking almost like a drum and bass thing there at some point right well he actually emailed me back that's like the most expensive part is the idea like the ticket's expensive yes but staying there for multiple days in a hotel you'd buy a car for what it would cost to fly three people like words like a blind or like a pan big fill collins like big sort of fill collinsy calling in the air tonight drum in the middle all right just think mike tyson doing drumming in the air yes that one wasn't so bad either but i think oh that one goes right there with uh with steven's first one where it was like and tyler one where it was like it's good but it's like so low key kind of not what we're going to do it needs some energy at least in part of it it seems like it's building and building and i think that one captures the on topic but it does not capture the balls at all it didn't cradle no it did not cradle all right it did not that cradle show balls it's all the car like a decent used car yeah right what's that line in a but did that combine with a hotel you know or an awesome golf and uh and you know it would be back breaking all right no so the next one is from evan uh it's the one with the jack uh let's see black and and and you know where they're playing soldiers but they're not really so oh traffic thunder traffic thunder you know there's that part where he's like feeding for drugs and he's like he's like i'll do whatever you want man swallow shaft cradle no cradle the balls like the shaft swallow the cake that's see that's not what i remember from that movie what i remember that from movie is you never go full re-tied all right the next one doesn't have a name uh because it didn't get an artist put to it but it's called do you think there are any super hardcore games uh look i guess i got to read the first part so you guys talked about really tedious games that involved the player having a huge investment in it like sailing across the ocean to the new world i would love to rebel FM.mp3 here we go we're waiting for the brine you know those games like this and hope they're produced in the few there's nothing good on the radio once again i do it's the wrong time to it's cool i like it future my question is do you think there are any i just we're hard games like this that will be made and if so when because i often think about this and i'm stomping and tamerine come up with a few examples this is what he means he means like a world war two mmo based around the entire world made extremely some jokes like the blood that was hard call but the hardcore that one's a definite maybe that was really good yeah i really like that one i like it because it's so different from everything else that we got man you know what that's not you know what the other podcast theme music i've ever heard you know what i could say about that one that sounds like an outro that would be almost like great as like an outro or something because it's like ends with why because then you would only get to include two songs that's correct that's not bad two songs yeah no i i we're looking for an intro credit of the balls but we could always have an outro i don't know using small systems like drinking similar fallout three real damage you get shot in the leg you go down or mini-games like medics trying to save the lives of their squad mates he's saying do you think that there will ever be a place for like the crazy hardcore games of like i'm gonna sail to the new world let's keep going i like it though arthur wants to pick three fucking music all right both the me they've still died funky little june it's a good job of building yeah yes it reminds me to actually take eight weeks it's called the pc our independent games i mean i personally this one has like a very podcast intro this game was not very sound good but arma two is known as like a big military soon june now i like the little fat penis this one also has some bumps in there i think it has like a longer version isn't it and those just sound like they're from like the sega genesis sound board so i think he just included like multiple yeah he did like like a little segment different cuts and bumps i'd like to at the end of that first track ended with uh like armato in particular though it's like the new one because it's like accurate portrayals of like the way weapons fire and your head moves completely independently of where your rifle sites and stuff so it's totally made to be a sim i mean they are out there for real did any listeners get a get a hold of some uh auto tune i mean that would have been an instant win i don't think so it would have been great um yeah all right the next one is rebel fm underscore small by mark williams who also submitted one that we did a few seconds ago it's broke them up everyone was almost straight from my balls without even asking me there there are also like crazy submarines sim games and stuff like that they are there's right but that's not always cool all that would be on the pc and a lot of it is coming out of europe at this point and i think that while there could be games that are like hardcore sims like that i don't think the time length wise throw up the games can you just imagine like the producer of the booth saying stop playing stop then the guy in the booth just like not hearing it at all yeah the most fun is watching tires reactions honestly well like sim up that and certainly not as an mmo nobody would would pay to do that mmo like that and it's not because no one would buy the game it's because they couldn't that game would not sell enough copies to sustain an mmo ecosystem that vein on your forehead is saying something how it's probably a no why there's like a range of like tone you want to work yeah it's a lot of high end and he does weird like off key like parts he did like i could see how that would be cool and like some jazz thing or something but i wasn't feeling it that's what comes down to all right the next is theme by res slash res me no just red yeah and another one he gave was like a space battle game where giant ships carry thousands of players duel it out above the earth and it includes things like this is his gaff name preparing the ship and all the tedious tasks actually so we'll just leave it at this without a battle would create this you've online do a lot of that he's got it's very springy he's got that springy there's a way too much pelvic thrusting happening on Anthony's mic it sounds like the band from the star wars canteen a little bit i mean i like i like some of that melody uh and and some of those samples it went into a little bit too like silly areas but like that but even online i think doesn't have like a whole bunch of players manning one ship so basically it does actually and even maybe i could be but i'm saying even then like i have to imagine every player is going to want to be a captain it's the problem especially when they're paying for it they're going to have enough meat in the middle there's only one left and it better be the one that i'm thinking i think it is okay i hope it is otherwise we can pause and i can go get it all right this is rebel offend theme by billy it's a nice little group this one's not picking up very well so if it's really quiet i apologize i'll fix this one too it's got a nice drone yeah i want to pay fifteen dollars a month oh there's a bit to be some fucking assholes sucking up the side of their body i get incense like they just um they don't want to do that i didn't want to answer clean a fucking toilet yeah um i know what i'm good man i like this one a lot just because so samples are really simple like none of it's like two cheese of fight it's very true to the source i like that i like that a lot i had it too actually damn that was good but uh we're missing one positive really quick all right we're positive we're not even going to put music here because that's how it's short this breaks going to be along one second all right we're back that was actually uh an Anthony user error of why we skipped that this one is called uh it's actually i would i'd uh this is mamad mamad says Anthony really all of us i was wondering if he had any tips on becoming better at guitar i've been playing for a couple of years now but it seems like recently i've had a creative one personal favorite of me and tyler even though it probably won't get picked for the actual intro but we've been quoting it for a while since e3 um so this is theme of passion by hans 2445 who has an appropriate name you're such a goddamn stoner you have any suggestions on exercises that they help it to come to help to come up with newer things uh and first off that i would just say for me the way i learned to play new things and to get ideas about other things was just playing other people those music wow playing tabs and stuff was a good way and then you would learn little like patterns that they did and that helped a lot of times reading about other people playing like someone like jerry cantrell for example is a guitarist and songwriter for else and change he experimented a lot with alternate tunings yeah i think we should send him something i just think everything reading about it is like one thing but he's right like go play some of jerry songs well yeah and just like putting your song in another tuning and then experimenting with that could yield results that you didn't that you never thought of yeah the man that might be one of the more creative of them all and you know what i just like what makes me laugh is i picture um strong sad singing yeah yeah i i can see that or coach the you kind of talks like coaching yeah man i think for me it's i think it's seeing other people that are doing shit that's way different than you and trying to figure out what they're playing and then you kind of learn little tricks or patterns of chords that they do progressions and then that kind of takes you to new places so listen to something aside it's kind of a three-way yeah between uh the the spazz one that we all pointed out that that one at the beginning that was longer that one that had that cool song that it went into but went too short and then the cool one that's got kind of like uh the eight bit the last eight bit theme we played before that one no no i was talking more about uh the one that the country one yeah well it's it's more like a flogging mala but yeah so just so i have a gaming question and really really then kind of yeah yeah some of the time what three games did you have the most fun with playing at the time minor nhl 94 i still really like that x-bang alliance and most eight bit one that we heard yeah yeah to me those are those are the three that are four i prefer to play as the Arabs because they're spiritual i'm going between it's like the eight bit one the flogging molly sounding sort of one in the in the first the blitz yeah i guess that's true for me too i feel like the the glitch or the one that one it's it's just super long well that's what i'm saying obviously it would be like you would cut uh like a uh a 40 second loop out of it with it like fade in like i think maybe the three of those will have to have some more deliberation between us trade allows them to change government will without going through turn of anarchy also it reminds me of the time when the islamic world wasn't synonymous with third world corruption terrorism and tolerance so um we could just do it right now as far as i'm just then we could use any of those three and i would be happy i think especially just for making it in the top three maybe the next three episodes we lead with these three songs and then we choose which one we'll stay how about that then then that way it's like we're trying the it's like we're bringing the shoes home wearing them for a day and we get to return to the store it's like wearing a dress to pretty any point where a religious like a a theocracy or a theocratic government system wasn't associated with corruption i think they've been on with the tag on it times i think even there are times during um not that i wore a dress to prom yeah let's do that let's let's have them as the intro for the next three yeah i think that's and then we'll have a poll maybe maybe we could let users help decide yeah after we do those three i still think we should send something a poll for sure he's got to be the outro one of the shows yeah that's true he should be an outro so good i love it i love it so hones if you would certain papacies that weren't necessarily associated with corruption so just a few though like a few years over the course of two thousand right that's a thing back in the day popes didn't live like they did nowadays you were like pope for like uh you remember the pope that was there for three years pope that was there for you would email me at a e g i e i said eat that sleep all right they get sad when we talk about doing outro music i don't mean to make you sad oh man cons email is please that's gay mail me so we can send you something okay let's take a break and then we'll come back with letters that was so fun six months so um if you kill the pope you become him um so games you had the most fun with i have fucking i don't know if i can you know he takes me back in a way i i you know what's going on not much to say just checking in with you trying to see what's wrong today i know this got to be something kicking your bruises how's the love how's the music how's the self-accusiveness got a lot to lose it's breaking your shoulders so you let your paranoia place your bets for you too many cigarettes messing up your voice too many arguments trying to test your voice the only women that love you with fans and family mom has no choice but fans leave you randomly no heavy rotation in any location you're not ready to face that you have no steady vocation plus you're getting old your apps are exhausted let her time everybody knows that you've lost it yeah i have a ton of fun with muting link football for sega genesis hell yeah six over the fact that it's fucking broken so there's muting link football and uh another one i used to play for long periods of time was uh i guess x-wing as well tie fighter first one it's from nick um hey guys i just wanted to offer you all quick but deeply felt compliment for the excellent writing discussion episode 24 as a medical copywriter who has worked in pharmaceutical industry for nearly seven years an industry that spends a colossal amount of time effort and cash towards writing about drugs for physician on then uh and says i was very impressed with Jason Wilson's clear concise and welcome constructed discussion about i guess really extreme the craft of writing i've listened to stuff it's more things like that for all other games related podcast discuss the ubiquitous listener question i mean now it is how do i become a games rewriter how do you write about games and their answers are usually so vague they're useless. Jason's technical advice was so on point and to the point i'm saving this episode so i'll have an available writing tips you can't take of any single player game i've been playing a ton of so um reference on call freeze feel free to forward this to him as a well-deserved kudos and then he says ps fat penis is a sentence fragment which is only kind of true street fighter two um depending on how you use it like i sometimes use fat penis as a way of saying goodbye it just takes the place of the word goodbye or sometimes i use fat penis as a way of saying like awesome in which case it's not a sentence fragment i did forward it on to Jason i was i'm sorry halo like playing 16 player land battles on tikmanhalo and um so i'm gonna say something it's just so hard to think about anything oh continue talking for like half a second it's so uh it's yeah i hate you i hate you so much i'm glad that what i was going to say is it's just it's hard to think with this tongue so far up my asshole mouse yeah oh okay i see what you kidding on that before i forgot all right so and i did forward it on to Jason and his i mean it just kind of brings me back to like when we used to go and play Madden on the SNES every day of response was thanks maybe i should ask that guy for some work okay this is from b that's all he said which Bissell product should i use to remove the hair and smell did you use the product alone or with a Bissell steam carpet cleaner this is in reference to a high school or no in middle school we'd make ham and cheese sandwiches and eat Doritos play Madden or Final Fantasy III from the SNES from the letter a couple weeks which i'm sure it's go so what we use is the Bissell spot lifter with powerbrush and it's an actual piece of hardware like yeah and it comes with the bottle of cleaning fluid but the cleaning fluid is always sold at the store too but it goes pretty far with water plus sometimes we used like a combination of like other carpet cleaners too the important part is that the carpet's wet when you start works pretty good for us some other number and actuality um so then the next one is from uh this is from dammy the guy and that's the area that scribes and then vacuums with the water but if you want to get yeah if you want to get the piss out man you're gonna have to do it like be prepared to do it like 20 times if you really want it to work that is an exaggeration but three or four at least i don't know man to get it out of this thing we did it way more than three or four times like three or four it's just like we did full cycle right a lot of the letters about religion stuff this is nothing to do with religion well that was in reference to a question asking how to get cat piss out of things right he actually has been really good i felt the tightness in my chest um he's gonna he's just actually which we have a lot of experience with um so this is another letter uh he writes a long-ass thing let's see his name is michael on last week show you had a listener contact you regarding warhammer book specifically if you could recommend them as a fairly long listener i know i've done this before he's been big into wanting to get into being an automotive journalist is actually what he's been interested in um or i know you've done this before so if you could forward this to that reader respond to the podcast i'd be glad to help so he so what he says is could you perhaps recommend some said is that if you're really looking for a great series to get behind read the gaunt gaunts ghosts books um the first couple books are slow-paced but the third book develops into one of the best storylines i've ever read uh Abnett's other series the isenhorn and ravenor ravenor ravenor trilogy favorite gaming journalist to me so i can read some of their stuff i'd love to fall in love with print again but until i find a caliber or zero so i can write or it's on it but a difference cloud and we all podcast okay thanks a lot so there you go there's those are some uh those are some uh warhammer books that he recommends he said that the one i recommended dead sky black sun was the one is good but he says it's in the middle of the series so i guess i didn't really realize that because it kind of picked up and was kind of like contained so um like you know so he's just like now i want to do a quick question for some particular writers to go to rather than just being told like check out the site all you're talking about sieve for is god fuck i mean i that's hard you know if you're interested in the series in the past i got sieve three but wasn't really impressed by it well i'm not that involved in turn based strategy i can get really involved in it if it's good is sieve for different enough from sieve three to look really to really look into or if i found sieve three bad should i stay away from sieve for to be more specific with it i didn't find sieve three to be particularly bad i just want to see good writers there's uh is it like what is it green speak dot blog spot it's just that i never really got sucked into it and with the length of an average game it becomes difficult to play it and i'm not really opposed to great length in games as i'm still calm is that jeff's yeah jeff i mean jeff does blogs that aren't you know fan of sins in the sins of the solar empire either way great podcast keep it up and i'm also really appreciate all the work you've done regarding getting to writing and your recommendation recommendation of on writing was invaluable so uh i don't know i didn't play enough sieve three to make a real judgment call and they're more interested in automa if time if an investment of time and jeff actually just started a series about motorcycles anyways i mean jeff is an excellent writer he was the editor-in-chief of cgw end game ease of accessibility and entry is important to you then you might want to try civilization revolution well he did say that he played he says he's a huge fan of sins the solar empire yeah that's a huge time investment and learning curve right in a sense so i don't know so to me it all sounds like maybe it's a more of it might just be the formula of sieve you just don't like that he's not magazine for a long time i like john davisson's writing actually yeah if you can get john davis since writing he does writing it into yeah what they know i can't make it not i can't make like dot com recommendation to you there other than good good job with the sense he created his editorials and uh yeah um i mean you can probably find so for on sale at some point on steam for pretty cheap so yeah it wouldn't be the most costly experiment or go and try and find it in the store look online see who has it on sale getting older at this point but you could probably find a good deal like what a year and a half maybe more than that there's already been too too i mean there's a lot that are great writers out there ryan scott his stuff at game spy has been pretty good especially the last few previews he's done three expansions so so but yeah the first um you should try that's probably jeff and john all right this is from kris in japan anthony arthur and tyler kunichua bitches um i'm about to dig into the latest podcast but before i do i wanted to share something that maybe you'd never had a chance to see like myself apologies if you had already seen it was swooping through an old comic book at the school where i teach and came across a great two-page ads i like to feel those are good recommendations especially of gaming writing if you want something that you that can show you your writing spread for aion ico those are the games aside from reminding me my youth obsession with drawing mazes being another elder statesman of gaming writing at this point yeah geographic designer and abbot ico lover i love this hoping this is a new one for you then he showed it to us eco eco i know people to say both ways they're wrong yeah to me it seems seems like eco is what i would naturally say okay uh so the next one is um pate he says imagine this i'm sitting at home playing battlefield 1943 in my ps but yeah i agree i die and in the response screen i see a suspicious yeah it was rad and i i i had actually seen that ad when it was in print it was like basically a two-page spread of a giant maze he says just the question is do you think the last guardian will make some reference to one of the previous games like they did at the end of shadow colossus with the protagonist reborn as a baby with horns a familiar id rock solid audio i was really sad when i read this email because i have never played nik setner yes played through shadow the colossus and that is nik setner i go to the profile any you coming out here which took you game show i'll confirm that it is indeed nik set uh i'll say nik setter so i immediately friend request him as i continue playing i noticed that he is near or yes to the first note of the second it none of us are going to tokyo um yeah i don't see why not i don't i don't see why he wouldn't make reference to to past i mean yeah i i replied to him in the email and just said that uad has confirmed that they all exist in the same sort of at the bottom of the rankings the entire time and in the next match he is last with less than 50 points the next match is i roll into an enemy base and quote unquote universe you know they're all the same the same take the real reality yeah i decided to test just how he has his time liner things he bad he is also says this is probably the most i begin by getting part of his email debu chimpoco is fat penis in japanese life so many syllables uh i think behind him and shooting him but chris we're not going to tgs however if you have my rifle after getting his intention i believe want to put us up in your place hank up with my rifle grenade something tokyo maybe i'm sure you will appreciate the difficult come out there at some point right what do you have basically next setter sucks of games fat penis he actually emailed me back that's like the most expensive part is the idea like the ticket's expensive yes okay but staying there for multiple days in a hotel do you buy a car for what it would cost to fly three people japan so i got even a shitty car like a decent used car yeah right but did that combine with a hotel or an awesome golf car would be back breaking i don't think nick has played a battlefield game before next played plenty of shooters yeah but battlefield as a sort right so the next one is from ebbin the different pacing he is and like where some of the things uh let's see do you think there are any super hard court games uh look i guess i gotta read the first part so are you guys talked about really tedious games that involved the player having a huge investment in it like sailing across the ocean to the new world i would love games like this and hope they're produced in the future my question is do you think there are any super hard games like this that will be made and if so win this is i often think about this and came up with a few examples this is what he means like a world war two MMO based around the entire world can be very ill stop both of you i'm all for shitting all over next step that was the point hey but you know what though i will say i he was telling me that he's he's been playing all i've been playing with yes dream world made extremely hard call by hardcore by using small systems like drinking similar flaw 3 real damage you get shot in the leg you go down or mini games like medics trying to save the lives of their squad mates he's saying do you think that there will ever be a place for like the crazy hardcore games of like i'm gonna sail to the new world and it's gonna actually take eight weeks it's called the pc and they are independent games i mean first in all day at office it's like you should be better than that nick um nixon or does not personally thought that games are not second games nixon or is the only person on my friend's list game is not very good but arma to give me a run for my money on geometry wars two all right this is from is known as like a big military sim operation flashpoint like arma to in particular though it's like the new one because it's like accurate portrayals of like the way weapons fire and your head moves completely independently of where your rifle sites and stuff so it's totally made to be a sim i mean they are out there they're also like crazy submarines in games and stuff like that they are there's marco's um marco says i'm reading a couple the ones that are jason fan service because jase like all that would be on the pizzas you see and a lot of it is coming out of his it yeah he does he does he's point and i think that while there could be those i would games just like to say jason were like hardcore sims like that was i don't think that was an i'm linked wise there'll ever be games that'll like sim up that and certainly not as an mmo nobody would would pay to do that mmo like that and it's not because no one would buy the game it's because they couldn't that game would not sell enough copies to sustain an mmo ecosystem yeah and here's another one he gave was like a space battle game where giant ships carry thousands of players some guests even though i have no interest in journalism but as a college duel student it was definitely informative for just some good tips on writing above the earth the discussion about non objective reviews was what interested me one of the reasons and it includes things like repairing the ship and all the tedious tasks that a battle would create doesn't eve online do a lot of that uh the eve online i think doesn't have like a whole bunch of players manning one ship so basically it does actually and even maybe i could be but i'm saying even then like i have to imagine every player is going to want to be a captain it's the problem especially when they're paying for it they're gonna be like i don't want a lot of podcasts that i feel all the people really say what they love and hate about a game hearing awesome personal stories about red faction and hitman definitely gives me a better idea about a get paid fifteen dollars a month to be some fun if i want to buy it or not compared to the very formula you're like an asshole's blandminton like they just don't want to do that i didn't plan to clean a fucking toilet yeah video um so this is Muhammad Muhammad says Anthony really all of us i was wondering if he had any tips on becoming better at guitar i've been playing for a couple of years now but it seems like recently i've hit a creative wall do you have any suggestions on exercises that help it to come to help to come up with you from game trailers it is a lot more refreshing i would love to see a world where very personal reviews full of fun and frustrating experience about a game from many different perspectives are the most informative newer things uh first off that i would just say for me the way i learned to play new things and to get ideas about other things was just playing other people's music playing tabs and stuff was a good way and then you would learn little like patterns that they did and that helped a lot of times reading about other people playing like someone like jerry cantrell for example is a guitarist and songwriter for else and chains he experimented a lot with alternate tunings yeah i just think reading about it is like um that's true one thing but he's right like i guess but i mean i feel that there are plenty written examples out there where you can find really good play some of jerry songs like a free language yeah and just like putting your song in another theater tuning in the used to work for one up and he does work for games by Eric and experimenting with that could yield results that you didn't that you never thought of yeah but mainly i think it's seeing other people that are doing shit that's way different than you and trying to figure out what they're playing and then you kind of learn little tricks or patterns of chords that they do progressions and then that kind of takes you to new places so listen to something aside from sabbath yeah so jim goes like one of like the people that put some of the funniest like personal stories in there you should go to one up and read eric's review of uh of wallie for ds i think he reviewed uh read this so i have a gaming question in your lifetime what three games did you have the most fun with playing at the time minor nh l 94 x-wing alliance and most recently siv four i prefer to play as the action webs because their spiritual trait allows them to change government will without going through turn of anarchy also it reminds me of the time when the islamic world wasn't synonymous with third world corruption terrorism intolerance so um yeah three years at any point where a religious like a a theocracy for for sci-fi which was also fucking fantastic that it was hammer tom chick tom chick is also another one that does really good but and actually that's another journalist who you should look into your theocratic government system wasn't associated with corruption there've been times i think even there were times if you're looking for during certain papacies that weren't necessarily associated with corruption so just a few though like a few years over the course of two thousand right that's a thing back in the day popes didn't live like they did nowadays you were like pope for like uh you remember the pope that was there for three years pope that was there for six months so um your game is great if you kill the pope you can air had to review wall come in uh leave for ps3 and for ps2 and for we and for ds and for psp those were like all different games to so games you so by the time you got to the ds one the most fun with i have fucking i don't know if i can you know he takes me back in a way i i used to have a ton of fun with mutin league football for sega genesis hell yeah six over the fact that it's fucking broken so there's mutin league football and uh another one i used to play for long periods of time was uh i guess x-wing as well tie fighter and then uh yeah i guess really it's like you could tell you'd kind of had it and it was his review is more like about this girl breaking up with them tied into wallie it's it's excellent um all right it's more things like that i mean no he says a quick thing regarding is i can't think of any single player game i've been playing a ton of so um street fighter to the listener um halo like playing 16 player land battles on halo and um mouth yeah it's turned about coming out to his friend about being a nerd because i was a very in a very similar situation in high school i was a football player in high school and fairly popular at school thing uh yeah i mean it just kind of brings me back people the new i play like when we used to go and play give the saxophone in the school japanese band and that i'm maddin on the sness every day after high school or no in middle school we may play video camera cheese sandwiches and eat Doritos play maddin or final fantasy three good sness which i'm sure is some other number in actuality um so then the next one is from uh games however however everybody plays video games now so it's not really considered that nerdy but little did they know that i lived a double life i would hang out at and worse is from dammy the guy in nigeria that wrote a lot of the letters about religion and stuff this has nothing to do with religion okay he actually has been really good i felt the tightness in my chest i local board game store in san francisco and that i um you know he's just actually he's been big into wanting to get into being an automotive journalist is actually what he's been interested in um so what he says is could you perhaps recommend some of your favorite gaming journalists to me so i can read some of their stuff i'd love to fall in love with print again but until i find a caliber or as instill and the biggest nerd possible writer it's going to name almost any game and i've played it or posh cast like warhammer 40k and fantasy dnd magic hero clicks war machine the list goes on and on thanks a lot like you know so he's just looking for for some particular writers to go to rather than just being told like check out the site i mean i actually would always have a magic deck in my backpack so i could that's hard you know if you just want to see good writers there's uh is it like what is it green speak dot blogspot dot com is that jeff's yeah jeff i mean jeff does blogs that aren't you know as a game store after french to an automotive jeff f football practice uh when i decided i would actually just somehow as a nerd or as a nerd i did it a series very slowly one day i mentioned i read about comic books then one day i said it worked part-time at a board game store recycles anyways i mean jeff is an excellent writer he was the editor-in-chief of tgw and games for windows magazine for a long time i like john davis is writing actually yeah if you can get john davis since writing he does writing at what they play dot com like read his editorials and uh yeah i mean there's a lot that are great writers out there ryan scott his stuff again i would recommend fun party board games to people like apple stapples and categories and slowly but surely all my good friends by his has been pretty good especially though i knew how much of a nerd i see pretty easy stuff was but it didn't matter to them so but yeah the first teacher child is probably jeff and john i like to feel those are good recommendations especially of gaming writing because they already knew i was a fun guy i still employ this method with everybody something that he that can show you writing beyond those are elder states when i'm gaming writing at this point yeah so the next one is from pate he says imagine this i'm sitting at home playing battlefield 1943 in my ps3 i die and in the response screen i see a suspicious silly familiar id rock solid audio aka nick sentner yes that is nick sent me because they i've noticed when people ask me what my interest are and i reply war hammer and dnd they usually put me in the nerd category and it's hard to break their presumptions but if i just show that i go to the profile and confirm that it is indeed nick sentner so i immediately friend request him as i continue playing i noticed that he is near or at the bottom of the rankings the entire time i'm a cool fun guy and that we actually and in the next match he is last with less than fijoy being friends it won't be points i'll just do them later the next match as i roll into an enemy base and see him manning a tank i decided to test just how bad he is i begin by getting behind him and shooting him with my rifle when after getting his intention i blow his tank up with my rifle grenade i find out how he drew a dork i am so eventually i got one of my football buddies thing i'm sure you will appreciate the difficulty of the sit-in and the game and basically nick sentner sucks again to eat my fellow nerds fat penis pet friends and i don't think nick has he really enjoyed it and once i played a few games of magic with my chemistry teacher after class played a battlefield game before next played plenty of shooters yeah but battlefield has a sort of different pacing it does and like where some of the things are guys can be very stopped that's me it's much better being feel over you i'm all for shitting all over nixon but you know what though i will say he was telling me that he's he's been playing all i've been playing the ps3 version all day at office it's like you should think it's a much better feeling being out about being a better than that nick um of the fact that i am able to become nixon or really does not speak a game's nixon or is the only say that i am going to kublacon the locally person on my friend's list it's given me a run for my money on geometry wars too all right this is from marco's mention held it um marco says i'm reading a couple the ones that are jason like the san francisco fan service because he'll i think jason deserves it yeah he does he does jay he says i would just like to say jason was one was an awesome guest even though i have no interest in journalism but as a college student it was deck or something really it's like the biggest like inform california or like westwood for just like board game convention some good tips on writing instead of having but the discussion about non objective reviews was what interested me one of the reasons i love podcasts is that i tend to trail all makeup and excuse explaining why i can't go out partying so my advice that people really say what they love and hate about a game hearing awesome personal stories about red faction and hitman definitely gives me a better idea about a game if i want to buy it or not compared to the very formula like bland video review from game trailers it's my advice and i hope it helped yeah it is a lot more refreshing i would love to see a world where very personal reviews full of fun and frustrating experience about a game from many different perspectives are the most informative um word he said he said i would also like to make a shout out to my cat of 11 years who just died of throat cancer everyone that's true i guess but i mean i miss is you feel that there are plenty bobcat you were the best he written bob samples out there where you can find really good like a freelancer that used to work for one up and he does work for games by eric nayer i think is like one of like the petats well that puts some of the funniest like personal stories in there oh bobby you should go to one up and he'd eric's review of uh of wallie for ds i think he reviewed a red faction for for sci-fi it was also fucking fantastic they was hammer tom chick tom chick is also another one how he does really good but dead and actually that's another journalist who you should look at but how he lived if you're looking for a game with his tongue in his crotch um eric eric nayer had to review wallie for ps3 and for ps2 and for we and for ds and for psp those were like all different games too so by the time he got to the ds one he like and the big labowski is when they go to spry you could tell he'd kind of had it and it was his review is more like about this girl breaking up with them tied into wallie it's it's excellent um all right and then he says a quick thing regarding but it's the ashes this is the final one from bret bret says listener concerned about coming out to his friends about being a nerd because i was a very in a very similar situation in high school i was a football player in high school and fairly popular school people the new i played the saxophone in the school jazz band i was really surprised by this week's podcast with jason moulison aside from being that i played video games however however everybody plays video games now so it's not really considered that nerdy but little did they know that i lived a double life a very so i would hang out at and work at my professional podcast a local board game store in sanford compared to the last one which was great by the way i was just surprised to find how much i enjoy and that the second segment even with i was and not being in the game still and the biggest nerd possible he named almost any game and i've played it or still play it like war hammer 40k and fantasy dnd magic hero clicks war machine the list goes on and on i actually would always in journalism industry unless you count amateur blog and it might have time to update which really it was target deck in my backpack so i could play at the game store after football practice uh when i decided i would come out as a nerdy as a nerd i did it very slowly one day i mentioned i read comic books then one day i said i work at it to people like parts of that exactly i'm at a board game store then i would recommend fun party board games to people like apples to apples and categories and slowly but surely all my good friends knew how much of a nerd i was but it didn't matter to them because they um regarding jason's quandary with what gamers won out of gaming sites and i know this topic has been tread upon in the previous cast already knew i was a fun guy i still listening to the podcast like a rebel of them has helped my taste to change or even to evolve employ this method with everybody i meet because they i've noticed when people ask me what my interest are and i reply war hammer and dnd they usually put me in the nerd category and it's hard to break their presumptions but if i just show that i'm a cool fun guy and that we actually enjoy i think the short reviews are great when they're being friends it won't matter to them later when they find out how huge of a dork i am eventually i got one of my football by a well written as Arthur mentioned a solid concise review is great for people whose time is limited in tension span matches where at least to sit in the game and dnd and my fellow nerd friends and he really enjoyed it and once i played a few games of magic with my chemistry teacher after class trust me it's much better being feeling it's much better feeling being out about being a nerd i love the for longer more in-depth articles on games is the areas behind the curtain all out of the wizard fact that i am able to be comfortably say that i am going to kubla con the local game convention held at uh like the san francisco hilton i think or something to boss i want to see how the wizard is produced and why it's like the biggest like california or like west coast like board game convention instead of certain choices i mean to try and make up an excuse get majors explaining why i can't go out of games that can be surprising successes and epic failures i like long articles that explore gaming trends and book partying so my advice that's my advice and i hope it helped yeah word he says he seems as well yeah i guess maybe he's kind of referring more to like that i would also like to make a shout out like the longer to my cat of 11 years who just died articles that were cool were like the egium retrospect throat cancer everyone misses you bobcat you were the best bobcats go bobby those were they'd sit down with the dudes that made a game and kind of if you're into that kind of stuff you you might want to check out game developer magus we will not remember how he died but how he lived with his tongue in his crotch um or edge edge has edge has a lot of that too gamasutra.com my favorite scene in the big libalski is when they go to spread his ashes and his balls are going to finish this is the final one from brett brett said gamasutra is the online brett i was really surprised by this week's podcast adventure of game developer right and i'm saying and i'm saying aside from being well it's a very suburb professional podcast and you'll see like four page compared to the last one which was great by the way four to eight page i was really surprised to find how much i enjoyed the second segment even with not being in the game journalism industry unless you count an amateur blog i never have time to update which really was post-mortem breakdowns of what went right and development what went wrong what they think they could do to get it to people like that exactly better yeah i checked on this regarding jason's career now laundry with what gamers won out of gaming sites and i know this topic has been treaded upon in the previous cast and like sometimes honestly some of the stuff up there is a little too deep for me like game development lives but like every now and then you find like a really true listening to the podcast like rubble femme has helped my taste to change or even to evolve i think the short reviews are great when they're well written as arthur mentioned a solid concise review voice article that's really interesting so he says also very briefly i wanted to mention that i love it was great for people whose time is limited and attention span matches where i look for longer more in-depth articles on games is the areas behind the curtain all out of the wizard of us i want to cite such publishing companies who encourage unique voices and identities for the writers however see how the wizard had to just be downside to produced and why certain choice encouraging get madered is the potential lottery games like some readers who do not enjoy specific personality can be surprising successes and epic failures i like long articles that explore gaming trends and themes as well yeah at least for pleather reasons i would imagine knowing that where to draw the line maybe he's kind of referring more to like the like the longer articles that were cool were like the egium retrospectives where they'd sit down with the dudes that made a game and kind of that line between to that kind of stuff you you might want to check out game developer magazine or edge edge has edge has a lot of that too gomma sutra dot com i mean gomma sutra is the writing harmony and voice can be very difficult yeah i don't know i mean i don't think a lot of places actually uh discourage online branch of game developer right and i'm saying an edge as well does a lot of that you'll see like four page four to eight page people from postmortem breakdowns of what went right in personality and i just think that they don't necessarily encourage it either so it just doesn't happen and what went wrong what they think they could do better yeah i check gomma sutra right now and then like sometimes honestly some of the stuff up there is a little too deep for me like game what we were talking about last week with Jason a lot of sites do develop have an editorial voice and the editing teams realize but like every now and then you find like try to really choice article that's really interesting so he says also very briefly i wanted to mention that i love sites such publishing companies who encourage unique voices and identity try to winnow reviews into or just content into them for the writers however side the downside to encouraging that is the potential loss of readers who do not enjoy specific personalities for a plethora reasons i would imagine knowing that where it's right with the thing is that a lot of the draw the line a lot of the larger sites don't really have editing that goes into it so i'm just saying the writers there i don't think that it's not that they're discouraged that line between variety and harmony and voice can be very difficult yeah i don't know i mean i don't think a lot of places actually uh discourage people from throwing it's just no one ever tells them hey you can totally make this you voice is a hard thing personality and i just think that they don't necessarily encourage it either so it just doesn't happen what we were talking about last week with Jason a lot of sites do have an editorial voice and to to develop and writing i mean the editing teams will try to try to winnow reviews they can take a long time to figure out what you want your voice to do to hear what it is or just content into that voice right but the thing is yeah all right is that a lot of the a lot of the larger sites don't really have editing that goes into it so i'm just saying the writers there i don't think that was there for letters that was actually see that was a good battle letters compared to something that it's not that they're discouraged from it's just no one ever tells them hey you can totally make this you voice is a hard thing to to develop in writing i mean it can take a long time to sometimes we get like tons like almost all figure out what you want your voice to be or what it is those four yeah we're 100 quality all right so i guess we're done i was there for letters that'll tell people where they can actually see that was a good bad letters you tower um compared to sometimes we get like tons like almost all those for yes tiler twitter.com/dirtyt we're 100 quality like the drink so i guess we're done tell people where they can find you tower um yes tiler twitter.com/dirtyt like the drink is where you can find my twitter updates you should update that sometime i i know it's been six days tiler is where you can find my twitter updates you should update that sometime i i know it's been six days tiler i don't i don't know what's going on in your life what's going on in your life sometimes yeah a lot of sometimes yeah a lot of times i will construct a twit and then i feel like what i'm saying is dumb and i delete it times i will construct a twit and then i feel like what there is menace in Anthony's arms right now he is playing his cat like a bagpipe and you all have i'm saying is dumb and i delete it there was menace in Anthony's arms right permission to waff your mother fucking asses off when she cut at him which she will she will fucking drop blood he is playing his this one those are unreal bagpipe and you all have permission you're gonna make me cut this old podcast so i'm sorry baby to waff your mother fucking her to your cat asses afterwards when she cuts him what she would i was just holding her she's so puffed up and angry right now the reason she was actually she was fucking rough blood these sounds are unreal she's puffed up because i've ruffled or
