Hubert H. Humphrey once said, "The greatest healing therapy is friendship and love, and this perfectly describes the support offered by PROSTAID Calgary to those affected by prostate cancer." Join PROSTAID Calgary for their general and specialized monthly meetings, where you can discuss health issues and find community. The general meetings, like the recent AGM on June 12, are open to everyone. They feature leading health experts and are a great chance for members to reconnect with friends or make new ones. Prostate cancer is among the most prevalent cancer diagnoses for men in the United States, and support organizations are crucial in educating men about early detection, treatment options, and lifestyle changes that can improve outcomes. PROSTAID Calgary aims to enhance public awareness and understanding of the disease through its general meetings, offered free of charge to all. With advancements in medical treatments, more men are living longer after a prostate cancer diagnosis. However, patients and survivors often experience long-term physical, emotional, and psychological effects from the disease and its treatment, such as urinary incontinence, bowel issues, anxiety, extreme fatigue, and PTSD. If you're a prostate cancer warrior, survivor, or caregiver, PROSTAID Calgary also facilitates specialized monthly meetings to help improve quality of life after diagnosis. These meetings are an informal gathering where patients and their families can network, share access to clinical trials, share knowledge and experience and management of advanced disease, and find emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation and depression. President of PROSTAID Calgary and prostate cancer survivor Brad Sterling believes that friends, family, and support groups are invaluable on the journey with prostate cancer. This is a marathon and you cannot do it alone, he says. Our objective is to assist and support patients, families, and friends by informing, empathizing, and reassuring men on their journey with prostate cancer. By sharing our own experiences with cancer, we lift our spirits and strengthen our resolve to fight for quality of life and a cure, Brad Sterling adds. PROSTAID Calgary has served Calgary and surrounding areas for over 30 years, relying solely on private contributions to sustain and expand its initiatives. The organization advocates for a strong provincial voice in matters relating to prostate cancer healthcare policies and provides on-hand resources for members. You can subscribe to their monthly journal, The Digital Examiner, to keep up with the latest in prostate cancer news and support. Information regarding prostate cancer research is also updated regularly on the website. Click the link in the description to learn more about PROSTAID Calgary's upcoming monthly meetings. You
