It is starting at the 22nd of June 2024 and we are here at the gathering with Christian vision for men in a field in this one that is an amazing time and one of my privileges is we're about to go around the site, see who we can find and see how they are finding this event. Let's go see who we can find. So what's your name and where have you come from? My name is Jay come from Billiroki. Jay from Billiroki? Josh from Billiroki. You see there's some synergy there isn't there from where you've come from. So is this your first time at the gathering? It is yeah. Well what's your thoughts on this? I mean we're on what Saturday, Friday Saturday, what the second day, what are your thoughts? It's lovely, it's really nice. So everyone coming together, it's enjoyable especially with the weather. Yeah, anything you enjoy more than anything else? Point of beers. The beers. Hello sir. What is your name? My name is Peter. And where are you from in the world? I'm originally from Swansea. I live in Wimborne near Dorset near Bournemouth. Oh you don't? And what's your name where you from? Andy. Andy from? Barnet. North London. North London. Fair enough. So have you been to the gathering before? I've been for several years, I still can't remember where my first one was 2014 or 2015 and I've got a t-shirt for 2015 so I know I was there and just love it. It's a great opportunity for Christian blokes and not yet Christian blokes that come. Just have a laugh, spend time together and learn about Jesus. What more can you want in the glorious sunshine in the UK which is almost mesmerising? How many times have you been? Since it started. Since it started and I've met another one like you who's been here from the very beginning. Yeah there was only about 300 of the first one I think, something like that. And I remember the wind blew so hard that we sat outside rather miserably in our tent watching a gazebo flying across. That was my gazebo. I was there. Was that? Yes. I had to explain to my wife that the gazebo wasn't coming home. And we just left it. We just sat there didn't we? We watched. Hello sir. What is your name and where are you from? I'm Dan. I'm from rugby. So rugby? Is that in the Midlands? OK. I'm in the Midlands now. So have you been to the gathering before? Yeah it's my fourth year. Your fourth year? What are you finding this year that you're really enjoying? Just the activities, like the weather especially, hanging out the lads, worshipping God by having a point. That's all good. We're worshipping God, we're having a point at the gathering and a feeling of this wind and that sums it up quite nicely. So what's your name and where are you from? Ted from Gloucester. Ted from Gloucester. Ted from Gloucester as well. Ted from Gloucester. Welcome back to the accident because that's not a Gloucester accident. I'm Tom from Gloucester. Tom from Gloucester. So have you been to the gathering before? Yes, many times. OK, what brings you back each year? Just the enjoyment, the fun and then the seriousness of the teaching. Yeah, and you've come, obviously come back so you want to be here. Yes. Which is awesome. So we'll come back to the accident thing and that's throw me. OK, so have you been before? Yeah, quite a few years. You've been before. So what brings you back year on year? I think it's just great. I think the realness about the topics that they speak about but also it's a good sort of bit of fun. Yeah. OK, what are you waiting for to do at the moment? Yes, throw in. Which is just behind me. So they're going the other way. It's fine. So, OK, so you're from Gloucester? Yes. So not originally? No, not originally. I'm originally from South Africa. I'm originally from South Africa. And you're Mr. Gloucester UK. Is this your first year at the gathering? No, it is not. No, I've been a fair few times. You've been a few times. So what are you enjoying this year? Is there something that you think, you know, last year was good but this year it's different and good. This is a new one. Yeah, for me it's like they say the teaching but there's a different element to the teaching. I've found this sort of the last two, three years where it's become really gritty and real and no nonsense. This is what it is and this is what it should be and this is what we go and for and I like that because it's real, it's open, it's honest and it's what we need. So, some more chaps in a field near Swindon. Hello, what's your name away from? Stephen from Norfolk. Stephen from Norfolk and you've just been telling me what this is. I thought it was, I don't know what I thought it was but what it got. This is called a zorb and what we do is we thought that there's a big inflatable, let's play football, get a group of guys together and play a kick a ball around and try to kick the ball in the net. Generally speaking, the goal isn't to kick the ball in the net, it's more to hit the other people over which is very funny. Right. Now, what's your name? Where are you from? My name is Brian and I am from Colorado. So is this your first time in the gathering? Yes. It is. What brought you here this year? Mutual friends and connections, wanted to get out of the U.S. and along with planning the time here in the UK, this happened to be within the time frame so I was able to join. So, very fortuitous for you. Yes. Hello, sir. What is your name and where are you from? I'm David. I'm from Liskard in Cornwall. Dave from Liskard in Cornwall. What about you? I'm not alone from Liskard in Cornwall. I'm not the Liskard man. I'm Lehman. I'm from Liskard in Cornwall. Yeah. I love the fact I got different accents. That's cool. Right. What are you from Manchester? Manchester? Manchester Dublin. Manchester Dublin. Liskard. Is that what I said? It's always true. Have you been here before? No. This is your first year? What have you thought it's first year? Yeah, I love it. There's so much to do. It's just I love the cars. Yeah. The cars. I don't see all the sessions. I'm Graham Kendrick. Hey, Graham Kendrick. Great. You know, all that. But the cars. Oh, but the cars, yeah. There's always something to point to this, isn't there? Okay. What about you? Yeah. I love it. What an amazing experience. Like singing worship songs with thousands of men. How often do you get that experience as a man? Yeah, I've never had it. Exactly. This is the first for me too. Yeah, amazing. Hey, it's fabulous. Have you been before? Yeah. You have and you come back? Yeah, yeah. What brought you back this year? Were you dragged or did you drag? No, I dragged. You dragged. Yeah. So I know it's just good. The fellowship. Yeah, and tough talk. What's your name so where are you from? I'm Tony. I'm from Shrewsbury. Tony from Shrewsbury. Anyway, how many times have you been to the gathering? Is this your first year? Were you another veteran? No, I'm a bit of a veteran. Probably, this is my, I'm probably seventh time. Okay. How would you describe the gathering? People are saying we don't have to describe it. It's just, you can't kind of condense it into a little, you know, snapshot. What would you say? Exactly. Well, you said you can't really describe it. It's a banter and worship and Jesus meets us somewhere in the middle of it. It's sort of an indescribable thing. It's just a good time with the guys and you've got an opportunity to worship with. You know, a thousand, two thousand of other guys. Did you know, Pure 24/7 Radio has a shop? Well, we do. You can buy merchandise while supporting the work that we do here.
