Hi folks, I hope you're well, hope you're safe, my name is Mark Trumbly, I'm the host of the "Metal on Metal" podcast and welcome to a new year of the show. This week's show is going to be a classic albums episode, I'm very, very excited, this has been one that I've been wanting to do some time, but before I get there I thought I'd recap some new music I've been listening to since the previous episode I put out. Finally 24 has just come to a close and of course usually with December and this time of year we are getting a lot of best of 2024 lists and stuff like that, but I find every year there's just a ton of stuff I always miss and I miss out on, which is fine, you know you can't listen to everything, but I just thought I talked about some new music I've been listening to recently. The first one being is a Boston, Massachusetts based heavy band crippling alcoholism, has put out a brand new single titled Bloodpony, Bloodpony and it's an incredible track. It kind of reminds me of a song that would be on like either David Lynch's Twin Peaks or Blue Velvet, it's a really creepy pop song, it's probably the heaviest crippling alcoholism song I've heard today, for those who aren't aware, crippling alcoholism are a Boston based heavy band. I always describe them as a metal band's take on writing really dark moody pop music and that's sort of what they've done here as well. This is probably the heaviest crippling alcoholism song in terms of like being as melodic and like metallic sounding as they've been in quite some time but it's really good. It's got a ton of changes in it, it goes in a lot of places. I kind of recommend you listen to it a bunch, is it my favorite crippling alcoholism song? Maybe not but that's kind of not the point, I'm really excited to hear where they're going, it's got some great things on here, it's got some movement from love from a padded room, like you can see some build on from there, so it's exciting. The band has also announced that their sign to portrayal of guilt records, we'll have a new record coming out this year. I'm excited to see where they go from next and I always like it when newer bands, specifically when they've had like a really great record, kind of strike while the iron is hot so to speak and put out another record kind of, you know, following that as soon as possible. So exciting stuff, I'm really excited to hear some new work from the guys, it'll be some good stuff. So yeah, I've been really enjoying that song, last thing I'm going to play for you mentioned for this segment is world leaders, they have a new release that by the time you hear this will be out, it's a re-release previous material from the band, re-recorded with members from the band itself, sounds ripping, I love it. The other material has its charm as well, but I love the whole sort of like the full band experience now that you get with some of these songs. So for this segment, I'm going to end off by playing you a world leaders track and play for your death corpse, it's one of my favorite songs from the band and I like this re-done version of the song. So I'm going to play that for you now and I hope you enjoy it.
